All I could find were positive reviews, which actually made me a little nervous because most companies have at least some negative feedback. I still wasn't sure if they were legitimate, and I was worried about whether my drive would arrive safely or if they would actually be able to recover my data. Before contacting 300DDR, I took my drive to a local computer repair shop. They had it for more than a week, and every time I followed up, I was told they would call me back. After several days, they finally contacted me, likely because I kept checking in, and unfortunately told me they could not recover the data. I then contacted another data recovery company, but they quoted me between $500 and $2,000 and would also charge an $85 diagnostic fee. I was really concerned about spending that much money without knowing whether they could recover anything. One thing I appreciated about 300DDR was that they do not charge a diagnostic fee, which gave me much more confidence in giving them a try. After doing more research, watching additional videos, and reading Reddit discussions, I still found overwhelmingly positive feedback about 300DDR. So, I decided to send them my drive. Once they received it, the process was impressive. They notified me immediately that my drive had arrived, and within 24 hours they had already evaluated it. They informed me that they could recover 74.46% of the data and explained that a head swap could potentially recover more. What I appreciated most was that any additional fee was only for the replacement parts and materials, not for labor. They also provided me with a link showing a detailed list of the files, photos, and videos they were able to recover, allowing me to make an informed decision before moving forward. Since most of my important files were included, I chose to proceed with the 74.46% recovery. Throughout the entire process, their communication was excellent. They kept me updated every step of the way and were professional, transparent, and honest about my options. Their pricing was also far more reasonable than the other companies I contacted. I can honestly say that all of the positive reviews I read were accurate. 300DDR exceeded my expectations, and I am incredibly grateful for everything they did. My hard drive contained priceless memories dating back to 2013, including videos of my children, wedding memories, family photos, and other important files. I had almost given up hope of ever seeing them again. No words can truly express how thankful I am to the entire team at 300DDR for helping me recover data that I thought was lost forever. I highly recommend them to anyone in need of data recovery services. One final piece of advice: if you decide to use 300DDR, make sure you are on the correct website. My husband searched for them and found several different websites, which caused some confusion. I wasn't sure where to look, and out of the blue, I decided to do some googling and came across this country with, needless to say, a very appealing name! After looking into it, I saw a couple of fantastic things that were green flags immediately: 1. The reviews were glowing (and here's another one - and I never write anything). People seemed to love the company's mission, and I even read that the founder (more in a sec!) created the company just for that reason: he didn't feel people should pay an outrageous amount of money to get their data back. 2. Brian himself. What a guy. He was active on a bunch of forums, and you could tell he put together a small, dedicated team who really valued that people trusted them with their services. And Brian and his team saw me through a bunch of the chaos, answering a bunch of my questions, putting me at ease, and then - through the wonders of the US postal service - procured all of my data again. (I'm backing it up right now - and if you're reading this right now, back up your data too!!) So, yeah. This company is about as legit as it comes, and if you're looking for data recovery in any capacity, you've found the pinnacle in compassionate professionalism right here. Keep on keeping on, team! You're rocking it.

The effort of recovering the data ended up being very challenging and took longer than any of us expected, but at the end Five Star was able to recover over 99% of the files--and I'm happy to say, the 1% of files were not important to me, so the 99% they recovered covered everything I needed. Despite that significant extra work, they invoiced me only for the original quoted amount. I'm happy with the results but also the professionalism. When I first reached out to Five Star, they got back to me at the start of the next business day and, after answering a few follow-up questions, I had a quote and scheduled to drop off my drive the same day. I had a pretty common problem with my Macbook Pro. The flashing folder at start up. It left my laptop useless for 2 weeks. I went to an apple store in Toronto, Canada, who fed me some shit about missing screws for the bracket of the hard drive and said that was the problem. I wasn't able to get the laptop fixed in Toronto because i was leaving for L.A and couldn't wait for an order. Came to L.A and they told me the same thing. More or less said "sorry, man. Tough luck" TWO apple stores don't have these tiny screws? Anyway, fed up with apple I called around independent stores to see if i could get the problem fixed without those fools "help". Called here, dude told me he had the screws and would do the job for $10. I didn't tell him initially the flashing folder problem. Went in, got it done, didn't fix anything. Told him then about the flashing folder and the dude ran a few diagnostics and saw it was a hardware issue, specifically the hard drive connector. Flash, boom, pow.. replaced it in 15 minutes for a decent price and was totally cool chatting to me while he was doing it in front of me. No bullshit, told me straight up the problem, recommended ways to make my computer run better and was just a genuine dude who just did his job and did it well. Couldn't thank him for it more. even made a yelp account to tell people. Long story short, stay away from apple and their "genius" fools and go to this dude for the job to be done quick, fairly and right. Thanks man! read more

MacHollywood saved me my job! I was on the brink of a breakdown after someone spilled liquid all over my computer. I first went to Melrose Mac, which was a mistake. They wanted to charge me well over $1200 for the repair and they couldn't guarantee that my data would still be there and the repair would take over a week to complete.... Fast forward to Mac Hollywood - They walked me through the whole repair process and right away let me know that my hard drive was beginning to fail. Luckily, these guys also do Data Recovery so I left them with my life's work... A few days later, I have a brand-new computer, with 100% of my data recovered. Jessie Rodriguez at Hollywood Mac is an ace! He diagnosed the problem of an old IMAC I brought in. I was trying to salvage what I can of it. The capacitors had died. The only worthwhile thing saving was the data which he made numerous attempts to recover. I decided to buy a new iMac based on the trust I had in him because of the things he had done for me. I work in IT, and I know some things about computers. I knew from the questions he asked of me about my plan to buy a new computer that he genuinely wanted me to get something I will use. There is nothing more comforting than knowing that a place that fixes something that I cant, like computers, is honest. Every time I have dropped off a computer, a car, or anything else I cant handle myself I always expect for the worst and most expensive scenario from the repair shop. So when my screen went out on my laptop, I figured; although it could just be the inverter cable, I would most likely get a call back saying it was the backlight and I would need a new screen for some reason. But nope! Next day had the computer back and good as new for a bit over $100. Great to know of a shop close by that's not out to scam people. read more

MacHollywood is my go-to shop for all of my service needs after my AppleCare coverage expires. I have had 3 machines serviced (MacPro and 2 MacBooks) and they all perform better than the original machines. It's like taking your car to a great mechanic. Some mechanics just fix what's broken, while others actually set you up for future success by giving you great recommendations and teaching you about the vehicle. Jesse at MacHollywood not only understood the issues with my machines, but he fixed them while making them even faster, more stable and more powerful. What a fucking joke of a business. I went in there earlier today to buy a used iPad and some douche-burger named name tells me they have two in stock. One is a 3rd gen w/ retina that's 16gb and the other is a 64 gb Ipad mini w/ no retina. I tell the guy I'm gonna shoot over to the bank to buy the $250 and will be right back. Come back and this douch-a-soraus Rex named MIke now tells me that the iPad is now $275 bucks. Literally 10 minutes later. I didn't give these assholes a dime I suggest you don't either. The tempered glass screen protector of my iPhone 6s needed to be replaced. Not wanting to fight the crowds at your typical Apple store in the mall I found MacHollywood on Sunset Blvd. I was assisted by Jason, who removed the chipped screen protector and replaced it with a spare one that I brought along. Jason from services was extra helpful. He gave us a realistic estimate of how much it would cost to repair my 2011 MacBook, and also helped me quickly retrieve my hard drive after advising us that the repair was probably was not worth it. Everyone in the store was wearing masks (properly) and were observant of social distancing and general store hygiene. So that's also a great plus! On Monday morning I rang them to confirm about the stock availability for my iPhone screen. So I sent the iPhone which they received by lunchtime. My phone was repaired and sent out the same day and I had my iPhone back good as new. The replacement screen is fantastic you really cannot tell it has been replaced.
