I usually don't like dealing with contractors. Something almost always happens that leaves me with a bad feeling. Not so with these guys. Excellent communication. Fast scheduling. The answer to all my questions was "yes we can do that". Very high quality of work. They made a custom built terra cotta tile roof over my entry door that is a work of art. They also tore off and replaced my entire roof. Clean. A huge pet peeve of mine is when contractors leave a mess. No problem with these guys. He came to the property as agreed and offered a very competitive quote and after reading through the proposed work, I went with Maciel. Very clear communication and responsive and even when I suggested to make some changes and eventually did not go through with it he was still patient. When we purchased our home 22yrs ago we were told the roof was new, but had no paperwork indicating how new. During one of the storms earlier this year some of the shingles blew off. I called Maciel Roofing based on Yelp reviews and their Better Business Bureau rating. I am so glad I did. Louis came out to inspect the roof and could see right away the shingles were extremely worn. I talked to Pete and set the date to replace my roof. Pete and his team showed up right on time. It seemed like there were at least 10 guys all having a job to do in the process of replacing the roof. The team was very efficient, installed my beautiful new roof, and were finished by mid afternoon. Pete had promised all debris would be cleaned up and taken away. My yard was spotless. Their quote was the best I had received and saved me a lot of money. They were able to answer my questions and are very knowledgable about the different roofing options I can choose. They helped me decide on what is best for my house with the budget I had. Usually other companies quoted me a week for the job length , while Maciel roofing was able to finish our roof in one day! I contacted Maciel Roofing based on the reviews I read here on this site and made an appointment for them to come out to my house and provide an estimate for nailing back in place some composite shingles that had come loose. The appointment was set for Friday, 9/27. Pete came out and looked at the repair job. He told me that he'd also include in the estimate, an overall roof inspection and a rain gutter/down spout clean out to get me ready for the winter. Great I thought! Pete also told me that I'd receive a call later in the afternoon with the estimate. I didn't hear back from him so today, 10/2, I called the company and they confirmed for me that they had no record of an estimate either under my name or address. They took my information again and contacted Pete for an answer. They called me promptly back but with an outrageous total; well over $1,000 to nail a couple of shingles back and for the inspection and gutter/down spout cleaning. Frankly, I thought the price was a bit excessive so I will continue to call around for more estimates. I do believe you get what you pay for but thought the price was a bit high. Perhaps that IS the going rate and I'll find out for sure when I call other companies. read more

Pete arrived at my home and was very polite, informative and helpful in providing samples and recommendations that best fit my desire in color choice for the roof. I received a re-roofing proposal within hours after the estimate appointment with Pete and my project was scheduled to begin within less than two weeks. I think he had 11 workers who functioned as an impressive team. They were polite enough that even my neighbors commented on how professional they were. I've never had a new roof and did not understand what a racket and clouds of dust come with the job; so be sure you understand that. If your whole old roof is being removed, make sure they clean up your attic...which Pete Maciel did after I asked he do so. They always did what they said they were going to do and at the time they said they were going to do it, be it phone calls, shingle and gutter choices, scheduling and prices, etc. Personable, competent, energetic foreman, crew and office. Clean up was meticulous AND they painted all exposed metal flashings and flue terminations in a color that matched the shingles perfectly -something they hadn't even mentioned in their proposal! I just had a new roof installed on my house. Using Yelp, I got three bids for the job and it took a month to finish the process because the roofing companies took so long to get back to me, except for Maciel Roofing. Each time I contacted them, before and after I accepted their bid, my calls were taken by Pete Maciel's daughter, Isela, who runs the office, and she made sure that my concern was settled the same day. I now know that this is a family operation and customer service seems to be what drives them. Pete's son, Hugo came to my home, inspected the roof, and the next day he handed me a bid.Two weeks later, on August 2, I called Isela and told her I would like them to do my roof. She told me it could be scheduled within the next two weeks, and on August 9, she called back and asked me if they could start in the morning. On August 10 Pete Maciel and two of his sons showed up at my house with a crew of nine men and before eight AM they were taking my old roof off. I spent most of the morning watching the men and I realized that each man knew exactly what his job was and got it done quickly and efficiently. They backed a truck into my driveway and the old roof came off and was gone by noon and a couple of truckloads of material was delivered. After lunch the men were back up there hammering and nailing. The whole thing was choreographed and my roof was finished by 4:30 PM. Pete found some damage under the old roof and replaced and painted an eight foot section of the trim on the front of the house with no extra charge. I had a quote to re-roof my house, shingles on the main house and a flat asphalt rolled on the addition, from the company that did the roof inspection (Specialty). They did not bid the rolled portion and it took me two days to learn they do not do rolled. Because my house was in escrow, time was of the essence. Pete Maciel gave me a bid within a day and two days later they replaced both roofs plus repaired termite damage around the roof areas. Great job. After reading all the yelp reviews online, I was skeptical because no one can be as good as all of the reviews stated. Wow, was i wrong but really happy to be wrong as Pete and his team are more than good, their great and their work is executed extremely well while being efficient. Not only are they professional and arrive each day on time but, they show up ready to work in professional vehicles with up to date equipment. Maciel Roofing is also very clean, respectful of your property, fast, honest and reasonable when it comes to pricing/quotes. Pete Maciel of Maciel Roofing is by far the best contractor and construction team I have ever worked with to date. Over the paat few years i have worked with quite a few contractors so I know all of the good and bad that can be expected when requesting work on home. Never once did Pete try and take advantage of me (pricing) and Pete gave me a timeline of two days for a complete re-roof which he stuck with. He and his team are fast because a large team is assigned to your home to get the job done in the most efficient way. Other quotes/ companies came in at a much higher quote with a 5-7+day time frame (depending on weather) which I cant imagine now. With a flat roof and no attic, being out of your home as little as possible is ideal. More than three days is torture but again, Maciel Roofing was able to get everything done in two days!:) Pete was not the cheapest but, according to the other quotes I received, he was very fair. I would would HIGHLY recommend Maciel Roofing to all I know. Going forward, I would ONLY use them (if needed) for all my roofing related needs.
