I was here a couple weeks ago with my husband and in laws. Definitely an upscale diner feel to the restaurant and pretty busy but we were still able to get a table fairly quickly. Also they have area for counter seating which is cool since most restaurants don't really have that any more. My husband ordered the banana nut waffle and a side of bacon. which he really enjoyed. I ordered the florentine omelette, cooked just rio, I probably could have asked for my hash browns to be a little more well done. I am pretty picky with hollandaise sauce so I did try a side of it. The hollandaise was very good and was an excellent addition to my omelette. Service was good overall. read more

Huge servings for a very reasonably priced menu item. Bacon was really crispy. Ham and sausage links are good. Disappointed that my requested well-done hash browns were served barely fried. What was the unexpected delight, was the rye toast. It was toasted to perfection, crispy outside and tender inside, lightly buttered. Coffee was good. Two of us went here for breakfast on a Saturday in October. Place was not too busy. To say that our waitress ("suzie" printed on receipt) cared to make this an even somewhat pleasant experience, would be a gross exaggeration. If you are having a bad day, say so (chances are, people would respond in kind) or ask to work in the kitchen, anywhere away from interacting with people you're exposing to your bad mood and poor service. This is my mother's favorite spot to go to when I am in Grosse Pointe. The food feels so cozy and home-cooked. It would be the food I would expect from my mother, if she could cook, ergh. I always get the same dish here and it's a chicken fajita salad. The grilled chicken is marinated and delicious on top of the butter lettuce. And this awesome tomato vinaigrette dressing that is outstanding. I've tried other dishes here, more of the comfort foods, but I always go back to the same chicken fajita salad. This is my go to and favorite thing here. Even when it was Mack Avenue, back in the day. This place always feels like home to me. read more

Had breakfast there today and ordered the turkey sausage scramble. It came very quickly. That should have been the first clue. Scrambled eggs over cooked and sausage was very hard. It was also over cooked. That means this dish is pre-cooked in batches no doubt not prepared fresh as ordered. Hash browns were great and toast good. Sever was very pleasant; although, never came back to see how my food was nor provided the extra butter on the side I requested. No interest in trying this place again. read more

I've lived in the Woods going on three years now and had not yet been to Mack Avenue Grille. I had a gift card to use with DoorDash, and decided to use it yesterday. Mack Ave., Grill had overwhelmingly positive reviews and a large menu with plenty of options. The third most popular item on the menu was their Chicken Caesar Salad Wrap. That happens to be one of my favorite meals, so it was a done deal. I ordered the wrap along with a cup of their chicken lemon rice soup as my side. I can't speak to dining inside the restaurant, but unfortunately, my experience with the take out wasn't great... The service industry is being hit really hard right now, and I'm very sympathetic to that. I have worked on the line in many restaurants so I understand the frustration and annoyance that builds when you are understaffed and struggling to get orders out. But sadly, the Caesar salad section of my wrap had to be discarded because 99% of the romaine lettuce was oxidized and unappetizing. It's disappointing, because from the picture you can clearly see that the lettuce is brown and should've been tossed. That's a quality control issue, and should have been addressed immediately. Those kind of slip ups shouldn't be occurring, ever, especially considering how turned ingredients can get people sick. Easy fix - Discard the already prepped lettuce that was no longer good, and replace it with fresh. It could have also been stored incorrectly, which would have sped up the oxidation process. It's more disappointing than anything, because it's a simple fix. I wasn't extremely worried about getting sick from the lettuce, but honestly, who wants to eat brown and limp salad? The chicken lemon rice soup was not bad, but it wasn't great either. It was average. This one was very gelatinous, so they missed the mark on texture, but the flavor was okay. I think that this is a potentially good restaurant, and I really don't like leaving very critical reviews. But I felt like I wasted my gift card buying my lunch from there yesterday... I'll try it again, and hope that it was just an off day! read more

No complaints here! Our waitress was THE ONLY waitress during a busy lunch and handled it so well! We were really impressed. Our food was delicious...my daughters had not been here before and enjoyed their breakfast. I always get the eggs Benedict so decided to try strawberry chicken salad which I will absolutely order again. And the homemade soup of the day...tomato basil was amazing! I wished I had gotten a bowl instead of a cup and will definitely return for that! With this being close by, the only thing that disappoints me is I waited so long to try it. Strong coffee. Omelettes are huge, fluffy, and delicious. The hash browns are good as well. Prices are reasonable. I also tried a bite of the French toast special, which was very good and not too sweet. Pancakes are average. Overall, great spot for brunch, will be back! read more

I reached out to the Mack Avenue Grille to cater a Christmas Eve brunch. It was spectacular! All of my guests were impressed with the quality of the food and the set up. They brought and set up the chafing dishes the day prior and delivered the food the morning of the brunch. They will pick up their chafing dishes. I will not hesitate to hire them again for my next event. In result of their great food and service I was able to enjoy my party and my guests. I take all that I know to breakfast there. The service is spectacular and so is the food and so are the prices! I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Popped in a few months ago to try this place out for breakfast as it had pretty good reviews and the menu looked great. Ordered a couple of different breakfast dishes including a side of waffles, as their scent was so good as we sat at the counter in front of the kitchen. Everyone there was really nice and the service was fantastic. This is one of the better spots for breakfast in the area for sure. And the waffles? Well, they exceeded the expectations my nose set. Can't wait until things start operating a bit more normally again so I can come back by for another delicious breakfast! read more

I ordered food to pick up, and the waitstaff was very friendly and polite. The seating area looked very clean. I would like to sit in and eat one day. I ordered the Cubano. The bread was so soft and fresh! The reason for 4 stars is due to lack of meat. The sandwich was pretty large, which meant I had way more bread than meat. And the fries were just ok. Tried this place on the fly! Great decision. The food looks and tastes very good. We ordered the French toast to start...and it was fire. The salmon burger is a individual potion of fresh Atlantic Salmon on a bun. (Could use some seasoning ) but also great. I went to breakfast alone because I have a doctors appointment on this side of town. First the waitress was nice enough but hasn't checked on me since she's took my order because she has other tables with more than just one that she has to check on. I work at a restaurant, I'm a server so I usually tip better than a three top unless like today it's assumed I'm going to tip low. No one runs each other's food (I see mine in the window as my waitress helps people at the counter). The food was good just felt like I wasn't important. read more

Racist... Checked in and waited. They seated the caucasians before us. The table they attempted to seat us at was the same size as the table they sat the Caucasian's at. When I questioned why we weren't seated before them when we had been waiting a while before they came he lied and said oh I was waiting for a bigger table. We were only a part of two. I said but the tables are the same size he said oh. Well they were here before you. I said no they weren't. He said oh well I don't know who made the list. I said you took my name down. He said oh. I don't recall. The man next to him takes the list and flips through the pages and shows me how the caucasians were marked off that were on the list after us and we were deliberately skipped over.
