Super friendly staff. Clam chowder was solid. I liked the club cracker pack provided. Diet Coke flavor was off and immediately replaced with Coke Zero. Mahi Reuben was good. Fries were good. Hush puppies were great. Cole slaw was good. The boil basket was very good. Fresh and large pieces of snow crab and fish. The sausage was also flavorful. Mix up when checkout where my card was charged twice instead of a split bill. Odd but it happens.

Such a great spot. Highly recommend you come here if in Daytona. Off the beaten path but they have a DJ some nights and the food was amazing and reasonably priced. I love the snow crab clusters. The scallops were cooked perfectly. Sooooo good. Get them blackened with a remoulade. Mussels with Old Bay seasoning can't be beat. Sat at the counter and just listened to stories and had an amazing time. Come here you won't regret it!

Our waiter was so helpful and kind. The food was great and perfectly seasoned (we asked for light Old Bay). The price was higher than the pictures show here and we didn't get the eggs with it (not sure if they forgot it, but we didn't need them). Definitely one of those hole-in-the-wall gems!

Our first meal in Daytona after flying in to Orlando for the 24 Hours of Daytona. We split the two person meal and it came with snow crab clusters, lots of shrimp, potatoes, corn, and andouille sausage. It was a ton of food for two people and it was awesome! The flavors and seasoning along with the butter was on point - you can adjust the heat level as well. "Momma" Macker was kindly walking around the restaurant and talking to patrons, and the chef all checked in on us. The vibe was nice, and we felt at home. This was our favorite meal of the entire trip.

Hello all. Today we tried somewhere new to us. We went to Macker Seafood in Daytona for lunch. I had a House Salas with Chicken, Wifey has The Shrimp and my Daughter had Scallops and Oyster. My salad was excellent and was loaded with Chicken. The Shrimp were large, well battered but it needed just a littleore season. The oysters weren't seasoned and the Scallops were excellently seasoned and cooked to.perfection. Our server Justin was on point, very friendly and courteous. When you come you have to meet Mamma Macker. She's so friendly and the Mother of the 2 owners. I would have to give them a overall score of out of 5.

Very unassuming place with a nice amount of tables and chairs for inside dining. Family owned and operated. I believe it was Tristen that was taking care of us and doing the cooking on our Sunday visit around noon. We had the place to ourselves except for folks coming in for takeout. We chatted with Tristen when he had some time between his other duties and got t he lowdown on the family business and a good time in October to come back for some fresh oysters. This visit we specifically came in for the seafood boil for 2 and we weren't disappointed. The boil had crab legs, plenty of shrimp, sausage, corn and potatoes for about $60. We left with leftovers. We started with the clam chowder but the seafood boil was the star of the show. We'll be back and just a heads up...when we posted pics of our food friends were asking where we were because it looked so good. We'll be back in October for the oysters...but....we'll probably be back before then to try other menu items

We ordered the boil to go, mentioning we were from out of town. We thought we had been here before , but he advised this is a new owner. Here is my challenge. We got the seafood boil to go, with the crab legs. No crab crackers were provided to eat them. Yes we improvised, but maybe a heads up would have been nice. The shrimp, as they are still in the shells, had to be cleaned. Maybe this is common in FL. I have never had to do this. The amount of food was good, lacked seasoning, but it was good. We had came back because we thought it was the same location, we had an amazing meal at. Similar restaurant. This was disappointing but maybe if you eat it there, you will have a better experience.

If I could give this place more than 5 stars I freaking would. This is the spot in Daytona for seafood. WARNING. This is not a sit down fancy restaurant there aren't even chairs. You get the amazing food and take it to a place where you can get messy. We ate snow crab legs and these where the best ones I have ever had, fresh shrimp, oysters even the freaking potatoes were amazing. Get the pot for 2 (2 crabs 1 lbs of shrimp potatoes and hard boiled egg and sausage) and a dozen oysters if you are really hungry and don't mind spending a total of $50 Totally worth it tho! read more

This boil in a bag was amazing. The flavor and juices of the sauce. they don't disappoint and it was very satisfying!!! I had crab, shrimp, crawfish, potato, corn & sauce. With heavy seasoning. And butter and old bay. It was phenomenal. They DO get busy so keep in mind time. read more

I would love to have been able to write a review about their crab, but unfortunately after waiting longer than an hour we left. They said it would take 20 minutes. Never once came to the table to check on us. A table that came 30 minutes after we sat down got their food and that was the final straw. We went to the Crab Stop II around the corner. We were greeted by a friendly staff, complimentary corn fritters as soon as we sat down, and amazing fresh Blue Crab. read more

Amazing place for seafood! Their garlic crabs and peel and eat garlic butter shrimp are out of the world!! They have a delicious garlic bread too, I've eaten here so Many times that the staff recognize me and greet me every time I go here. Great seafood boil and very friendly owners. Came with my mom and wife, we all enjoyed the #18 (for two but plenty for three) - we added a couple extra snow crab clusters. My mom usually doesn't eat much, but enjoyed all that was offered. Highly recommended if you're in the area or surrounding area. read more

What a find! Once a fish market, Macker is now a "not to miss" seafood place. The fried shrimp and fish lunch was amazing- at less than $10! Lightly breaded, not heavily salted and perfectly fried, you can tell the fish is fresh. Often times a place like this has mediocre sides, not here! Rice and beans were excellent and the homemade cucumber dill salad was refreshing! Staff are super friendly and hustle- which is a good thing since this place is busy. We travel from Atlanta Georgia on a regular. When we come to Daytona Beach we always get crabs from Mackers on Mason Ave. The price is a little high but we have never cared about price because how good the crabs were. This time we paid almost 50.00 for one dozen of blue crabs and the crabs were very light, absolutely no meat in them. After calling Mackers to let them know about the situation they were VERY RUDE and nasty & argumentative . As a customer there is just a way you handle people. Fantastic Seafood Combination Meals! They have updated their interior dining space from when we had take out a year ago. The meal selection is awesome and the quality of the seafood dishes is outstanding. We just love The Mason, which is shrimp, sausage, potatoes, corn on the cob and an egg. This meal easily feeds two hungry adults. The service is spot on. The price is quite reasonable and the service is delightful and on time if you call in and take out. This was our first time here at Mackers. We heard about it from a good friend. Let me tell you first thing that this is not a sit down place. You take your food with you. They have an extensive menu. We got #18 and the garlic stuffed blue crabs. Oh magersh!!! You will not be disappointed! It was deelish!! I highly recommend you stop here for your fresh seafood. It's steamed. This place has amazing, fresh, seafood. You order the combinations that they have on the menu, or build your own! Take some shrimp, clams, fish, or scallops home to cook on your own, or they can cook it for you with your choice of butter and garlic, Maryland (Old Bay Seasoning), or Creole style. I ordered 6 blue crabs and 6 scallops and had them made butter and garlic style. Everything was cooked beautifully and well seasoned. The workers are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. This is my FAV casual TAKE OUT seafood place! Be sure to ALWAYS call ahead for what they STILL have in-stock; for daily specials or market prices; and to place your order! This way I'm never disappointed of sold-out items or waiting a long time for my order (as this place gets REALLY busy)! I can also place orders in advance for hard to find/pricey fresh seafood market items (like local oysters, clams or fish) for pick up a few days later that are truly reasonable prices compared to other local options. The guys working were extremely friendly! They even took the time to show us the various whole fish that were caught. We received our food within 15 minutes. If you never had seafood before, then you'll live the place. However compared to mr&mrs crab. This place missed the mark all the way. Prices are ok. Food seems like it was cooked and then layer in butter and seasoning poured over it. Shrimp were still in the shell with feet and half of them unseasoned. Still don't know why they gave me cocktail sauce????? Wife had snow crab & blue crab. Her blue crabs were not fresh at all. We end up trashing some of her blue crab because she wasn't happy at all & refused to suffer an longer in subpar food. For hers. Just needed to be fresh. She's more forgiving then me. I'll never be eating there again nor will I tell people to go there. I here crab knight is great. Will be trying them tonight. read more

Specialties

Macker Seafood is a market specializing in fresh, local seafood, and also offering steamed carry-out meals. All of our fish is cleaned on premises, and we never sell pre-frozen or pre-packaged fillets. We also carry a wide variety of shellfish including shrimp, scallops, clams and oysters. We harvest all of our clams and oysters from Matanzas Inlet in the St. Augustine area using our own boats. If you're looking for crabs we carry live local blue crab and stone crab, and imported Alaskan snow crab clusters. Anything that we sell raw can also be steamed. We offer southern steam-pots with any of our cooked seafood as well. These include potatoes, corn, sausage and hard-steamed eggs, and are liberally seasoned with old-bay, garlic and butter (or to your liking).

History

Established in 2012.

Although Macker Seafood has only been open as a retail market since 2012, its history goes back much further than that. In 1980 Johnny Macker "The Clam Attacker" decided to pick up and leave his native state of North Carolina. In favor of a warmer climate and a healthy shellfish population, he opted for a place where he didn't know a soul: Daytona Beach, Florida. Johnny began harvesting clams and oysters from the waters of Matanzas Inlet, and never looked back. He started numerous seafood related businesses throughout the years, and had two sons along the way. His kids, Tristan and Jon, inevitably learned the family trade, and eventually opened Macker Seafood. The brothers now run the shop on a daily basis, while their dad remains heavily involved, and still does the majority of the shellfishing.

The next day, the clams I bought I served on the half shell and oregano.. the black bass I bought hole and they filleted them for me . That fresh fish made one of the best ceviche I've had in a long time. The service atmosphere was excellent and it was very busy and I understand why. My wife wouldn't let me go back and buy more to bring back to South Carolina.

You can mix and match the ice cream scoops to your fancy, and the pricing is super reasonable. They also GIVE YOU A LOT. In fact, the small cup I had could have been shared with someone. As for the ice cream selection I settled on, I went with their boozy option for the Bailey's Ice Cream. While the Bailey's flavoring was subtle, it was still quite tasty. I should have paired it with Buttered Pecan, but I only did one flavor. I enjoyed it, though. On my next visit to Daytona, I will be SURE to visit Cherry Hill Ice Cream Cafe. A friend took me to Macker Seafood for the first time on Saturday night. I had the Shrimp with Snow Crab. The food was delicious although it had slightly more Bay Seasoning that I like. Overall though it was so good that my friend and I returned the next day, Easter. I've never gone back to the same restaurant the next day in all of my decades of dining out. That's how good the food was. For the meal on Easter I had grilled shrimp with a side of Broccoli. I asked them not to include any Bay Seasoning, which they did and the meal was perfect. The staff was very good and Linda is a joy to speak to as she checks on the customers. I'll definitely be returning. I hope they eventually had King Crab and Lobster to their menu. read more

I recently purchased a pound of scallops and some pompano fillets from them, and they were VERY fresh and delicious. They sell whole fish, but if you prefer to not do the "dirty work" yourself, you can select a fish and they will skin, clean, and filet it for a slight fee. Personally, I prefer that option! The staff is very friendly and helpful- if you can't decide what you want but have an idea what you're looking for they can suggest different options for you. They also have a good variety of prepared food, like their Steam Pots. Delicious! In short- Really great local business with the freshest seafood around. Check them out! read more

The food at Macker Seafood was nothing like it used to be when it was Bay St. The mahi mahi was hard, dry, and tasted old. The fries were undercooked and the tartar sauce was watered down. I honestly felt like I would have been happier with McDonalds. I went back a second time because my wife didn't realize it had changed, but the fish used to melt in your mouth at Bay St and now it's just disappointing. On vacation and looking for fresh seafood??? Look no further. This was our first time trying Macker out, and ordered jumbo shrimp and scallops. Scallops were super tender and cut with a plastic fork. Shrimp were fresh and seasoned perfectly. My family enjoyed the super fresh seafood dinner. The young man running the shop, could be the owner, not sure, was very friendly. It's just simply one of the best food places in the world. Eating the seafood pots and baskets is a transformative life event and you will at least consider packing up your things and relocating to central Florida so that you can experience Mackers on a regular basis. Ate a Macker multiple times 2 yrs ago. This was our 1st stop when we returned to Daytona Beach. FOOD IS AMAZING. BEST seafood we've ever had. Family owned & they are awesome!!
