I don't understand why this place gets excellent reviews. Waited over an hour and we just ordered appetizers. We were a group of five. The shrimps were ok. The scallops were overcooked. The calamari was dry and they give you a small cup of marinara sauce. The portions were very small and expensive. The only thing I enjoyed was the beer. This is not some place I would go again. As soon as I opened the door the staff/owners were super friendly and greeting me immediately. It had a very quaint atmosphere. Can I get a YUMMMMMM! This is the place! Just a tiny family owned business that knows how to do seafood. What a perfect little spot! We shared a shrimp/crab boil bowl and gobbled up every bite of fresh delectable seafood. Owners were so kind and even though the place was busy, they took time to talk to us and make sure we were enjoying our meal. The clam chowder was perfection and steaming hot, nice portion too! Decided to finally try Macker after seeing so many good reviews for them and craving shrimp. I have to say this was possibly one of the best seafood restaurants I've been to. The buffalo shrimp was fried but was very lightly battered so you don't just get a mouth of fried batter you mostly taste the shrimp and buffalo sauce. The blackened shrimp skewers were great too. I really liked the hush puppies. The service was amazing I was alone at first then a couple from Colorado came in and it was almost like having a friend cook us dinner they were so attentive and friendly talking about various things while enjoying this food. The store itself is now near beach street on a side street and at first it doesn't look like much and I almost thought they were closed inside is as simple as this place needs to be with several tables and a little bit of bar seating. The kitchen is open so you can see them cooking your meal and I was told they go out and catch everything fresh for the day which is great. I'd definitely say if you're planning to go to Hulls or Caribbean Jacks or some other popular seafood restaurant here, skip them this time and try Macker, you may never go back to the others. read more

I came here instead of Hull's on this visit on the basis of a review that said the seafood was both "good" and less expensive than other area seafood joints. Well, I ordered butterfly shrimp, what I got was a dozen regular sized shrimp, nothing special. For 18 bucks, cheap it was not.
