I'm only giving this place two stars because of the views. Started off with a frozen rum runner and it tasted like old freezer ice. It was disgusting. My friend also had one and we both couldn't drink more than a few sips. We then got the potato skins which were okay. And then the food came... friend ordered the chicken kabobs and for $16 you'd expect more than dry chunks of rubber. The Mac burger was bland and the onion rings were soggy. Pretty disappointed.. but again the view is great! read more

This is good up north food with good whitefish appetizers, soup, lunch and dinner specials. When I go up north I want a good fish dinner and that is what you get. They have a brunch buffet on the weekends and a salad bar everyday. The brunch buffet is so so and so is the salad bar. Nothing really stands out. It is not a bad price for the salad bar about the price of a side salad. They have a full bar and the bartenders pour on the heavy side. They have an outdoor patio but st night I suggest eating in doors or have allot of insect repellent the mosquitoes are bad at night. read more

Very nice, quiet little grill for lunch in St. Iggy. Coffee's good, all of the seafood is very nice, though the quantity of whitefish is on the small side, but, eh, these days that's better than paying the huge amount that it would take to get the four-piece meals my father would enjoy on the lakes for 25 cents back in the 1930s. It's next to the old Rail Ferry dock, thus the waterfront railroad theme and salad bar located in an old caboose. Food and service were prompt in getting to us and I had no complaints about it. Generally speaking it seems a nice little place, though with the bar and televisions I can imagine it can get quite rowdy and crowded on weekend nights and gamedays. read more

I am surprised by the negative reviews. We had a very good meal and service. We went there at 8:30 pm on a Friday. The restaurant was very busy. The only thing they could be better at would be at hostess. We waited for what seemed like 5 minutes before being greeted. But after that everything was better. We waited under 20 minutes for a table. We were seated outside and the waitress, Agnes was right there with menus and we ordered right away since we looked at the menu while we waited. I had the jerk chicken. It was good. I would order it again. My wife and mother both order the half pound of shrimp. They were both very happy with their choice. Agnes was terrific. We came here for a casual dinner and were pleased. I had the Mackinac Burger and it was delicious! Super thick burger and cooked just right all the way through. My husband had the salad bar and was content with it. Double chocolate cake for dessert was warm, fresh and decadent. The whitefish cakes were amazing. Very casual, rowdy bar area. The fried whitefish was typical. The ribs were tender and delicious. They have an ample salad bar that was one of the most impressive I have eaten from. Lots of variety and delicious choices. Better quality options than most salad bars. read more

The turkey/ham club wrap was flavorless. I asked for no tomato and I guess I wasn't heard. Chicken tenders were over fried and bland. Burgers were so, so. We just stopped here for a drink but I felt like we were largely unwelcome because we weren't locals. We sat at a full bar and were very much ignored because the waitress was talking to/laughing with the people who were a few seats next to us. It was very obvious she knew them as they were talking about their family member who wants to sell their car (they were talking VERY loudly so it was impossible not to hear). Maybe it was just the waitstaff, but we felt very unwelcome. On the food/drink side, the beer wasn't cold. It wasn't warm but it definitely wasn't cold either. Yuck. When we paid our bill by credit card they charged us an extra 3.4% because we didn't pay cash. I was surprised at this but then I saw it started on the original bill. Have been told that this place was great for appetizers and cocktails. However we stayed for the Maple Plank Whitefish and roasted vegetables with a half ring of mashed potatoes. Manager has a really bad attitude and the waitress comes back and just drops my check and pen in front of me and walks away. The 3.4% credit card surcharge left a bad taste in my mouth. The explanation was "it is the credit card machine". Processing credit card transactions is a cost for any business, you are not unique and 90% plus restaurants have seemed to figure this out. The signage wasn't great for this "fee" either. Been there many times throughout the years, always had good meals and service, tonight not so much. Ordered the New Yorker steak, it came with a thimble of cole slaw and the smallest baked potato, which was cold, the butter wouldn't even melt, I should of sent it back my bad, the slaw had no flavour, the steak had so much gristle on it. I had asked for some bread, the waiter ( who didn't speak much English) comes back and says it doesn't come with bread. When we were done, I asked the host to speak to a manager, as I was standing there he walked over to the bar where the manager was, he said a customer would like to talk to you, her response was "I'm kinda busy right now" I stood there for 5-10 minutes as she made no attempt to come talk to me. $24 for a lousy steak dinner. I had paid the bill, I just wanted to let her know about the meal, I wasn't looking for a free meal. Make sure you check your bill too, the waiter charged us for each coke and ice teas, even though they have free refills. I had to have them redo the check. Last time I'll go back! read more

The steak in my parents steak salad was cold, and my sister didn't get any sides that came with her meal. It was raining, and the roof leaked on us. My husband and I drove to St. Ignace for lunch. We sat down on the patio at 1:50pm. We were sat at a table that was still dirty with the previous customers tip still there. About 1:55 a family came and sat at the table next to us, and they promptly had their order taken and we still had not. My friend and I went here while staying in St Ignace for a visit to Mackinac Island. The drinks were great and the fries were great but the rest of the food...meh. I didn't research enough to know whitefish is a bottom-feeder....so gross. But if you like that kind of fish then maybe? My friend had a burger and I had the fish and both were barely edible. The food was great. BUT the restaurant was hot and stuffy. We asked to go outside after we got our drinks because there was at least a breeze out there. Our waitress told us that she couldn't because it was too difficult. Minutes later another group of people came in and their waiter took them outside ‍. We ordered fried pickles for an appetizer. That never came. Part of our food came out, one meal took 15 minutes longer after asking about it. I never received the water I asked for 3 times until the end of the meal. We asked for 2 more beers and those also didn't come. We had to go to the salad bar to get our own butter for my baked potato. The bill charged us for everything we didn't get then they took it off and gave a discount that didn't discount and just added to the bill. Very disappointed because this could be a good restaurant. Waited another 10 min at the table before the manager came by and asked if we had been helped. Said no and he took our drink order.
