we noticed so many customers we not wearing masks walking into the restaurant and no one seemed to care as well as no one paying attention to social distancing as well. Our biggest complaint came after we were finally seated after we were told it was a 20 minute wait, mind you this was off season and sunday afternoon. We were seated and no one came to wait on us. NO ONE. We sat there for over 20-25 minutes watching plenty of wait staff wandering around waiting on everyone else except us. Finally a waitress comes up to us and tell us that our table does not have a wait staff person assigned to us and who knows when we will be waited on. My husband then tells her to take our order instead. I think she was shocked and she did. She didn't seem happy about it because she dumped off our drinks and food and disappeared until it was time to get paid. The fish tacos were ok, My husbands fries were cold and no ketchup was offered or refills on beverages. The bartender was not wearing his mask and patrons were running around with out theirs. Not sure if the food was good the first day or if I was hungry BUT, the staff are all nice, not sure what to say about the food and cooks. Jammin Burger is A+, the boneless tenders taste and felt fake. Salad bar is shouldn't be considered a "bar" . A friend of mine watched an employee drop food on the floor and pick it back up and proceed to deliver it to a table...Giving them the 1 star because it's the lowest rating a place can get but the Jammin Burger is phenomenal..if they say it comes with bleu cheese..it doesn't. We decided on a small meal, just to tide us over, so we stopped in. We ordered things that are normally already done. I asked for a water with lemon, didn't get the lemon. When he brought the items out, it seemed to take forever (especially for items that pretty much should have already been done), he didn't even give them to the right person. We sat inside, because we are kinda bigger people and the chairs outside didn't seem sturdy enough. The food here is not good. No nice way to say it. I think all of the food is frozen and then microwaved. I had the meatloaf and the plate was hot when I got it but the meatloaf was cold. I had to send it back. I should probably give it one star but the view is nice, people are friendly and the outside temperature is really pleasant for mid-July. I stopped in for lunch on my way back to Midland from the U.P. I chose to sit on the patio for the incredible view of the harbor and Mackinac Island. I ordered the steak and whitefish combo with steak fries and steamed vegetables. My food arrived in a timely manor and the server was very pleasant and accommodating. When my food arrived at first sight the portion sizes were very generous for the 17.99 price point: two white fish fillets and an 8 oz sirloin with a very generous portion of fries. The steak fries, however, were not my idea of steak fries: they were basically thick-cut no-skin Belgian fries. They were well fried with a crispy outer crunch and a light and fluffy inner potato, but they were not seasoned at all. No salt, no spices, nothing. When I think steak fries I think seasoned potato wedges with skin on, or at least just seasoned. The steak, which I ordered medium, came to me medium-well; rather significantly overdone. This is an egregious mistake for a chef to make because you would have to make a whole new steak, something which I am uncomfortable asking for, to resolve the problem. Better to undercook and have to throw it back on the grill than to overcook and replace it. But it was well seasoned and I enjoyed it in spite of its being over done. The white fish was fresh and cooked perfectly; lightly battered, flaky, tender and juicy. But the batter lacked any kind of seasoning flavor. I found myself reaching for the salt and pepper not once but twice during my meal. The fish screamed for said seasoning and the accompanying fresh lemon wedge and tartar sauce. But, all that said, when I finished doctoring it up it was delicious. The steamed veggies were a mixed bag. The broccoli was huge and a bit crisp, a single slice of yellow carrot was welcome but needed more, while for the red pepper there was only one solitary small sliver and it was mush; most likely from a frozen bag. It too was not seasoned at all. Overall: excellent value for the price considering the view, the portion of meats and the service. I docked a star for overcooked steak and lack of seasoning on fish and fries. The interior ambiance is a bit dated, but the back patio is lovely and as stated above the view is hard to beat. It's definitely worth a visit. read more

This place only had 2.5 stars so i was skeptical! But the food was delicious and the view of the island and the water was really great!! I had the bang bang steamed shrimp with veggies and fries! The sauce was great and the shrimp was very fresh! The prices were very reasonable. We had six meals, an appetizer, and drinks for just under $100! would highly recommend giving this place a shot if you're in the area! read more

Please tell the servers to pay attention to the customers. We waited 10 minutes to be seen and I'm a noticeable guy. I tend to be very respectful but in this case I turn into a person who requires respect as a paying customer. If you want a big tip ask your customers "how are you" and "how much time do you have today". Your servers have no personality and the drinks had nats in them. It took a long time to get the check and so we decided to leave. I should have left without paying but we left him $1 tip on $11 tab. Learn some respect and serve better. The wait just to be seated and then to finally get our food however, was horrible!!! I am hoping it is due to Covid and that they don't normally run their business like this. Tourist trap with terrible service. Food is overpriced for what it is. My boyfriend and I decided to try this place out for lunch. We had to wait forever for someone to come seat us. Then we had to wait forever for someone to come ask us what we wanted to drink. While we were waiting for our food, we noticed two other tables that were not being waited on and they were obviously annoyed, as they should have been. We had sat outside hoping for a beautiful view of the lake, but it was blocked by a giant tent: They apparently do wedding parties here. I had ordered the perch fish with a baked potato, my boyfriend ordered the beef pastie. The baked potato was obviously cooked in a microwave, and was still too hard. The fish was okay, it definitely needed more seasoning. The tartar sauce was way too thick and sour. My boyfriend said his pastie needed a ton of more seasoning, it was very bland. We had to wait forever to get our check, to the point my boyfriend actually got up and started looking for our waitress. The place wasn't even busy during our lunch. Don't recommend. read more

We walked by earlier and saw the outside picnic tables full. We walked down the boardwalk being my wife and 9 month old in a stroller. We only wanted to sit outside given the size of the stroller. She gave me a buzzer and said it will be about 15 min. We patiently waited outside and 20 min went by and no one came out to clean the tables. I went back inside and the hostess was busy doing 3 other jobs it seems. At this time, there were about 7 other people waiting in line. If a restaurant has 5 open high demand tables that just need to be cleaned, why not clean then real quick and sit guests? I understand that they might be understaffed but if the hostess was busting inside tables that no one wanted since we all wanted outside tables, then why not bust those first? We were on vacation and decided to give this place a try. The service was very poor and they messed up our order... forgot the coleslaw and the steak fries. This could have been easily corrected if our waitress had bothered to return now and then. My wife's salad was served with her meal, but she asked to have it served first. The salad dressing, Tatar sauce and cocktail sauce, were served in the itty-bitty plastic containers that give you half of what you need. This place has a beautiful view of Lake Huron, but otherwise they have little to offer. I'm sure they make lots of money giving people little portions, but charging them big prices. . read more

We went to this place while on vacation. On the positive side, it has a nice view and is centrally located in St. Ignace. The food was mediocre. I got a platter with fried shrimp, fried clams, and fried fish. All 3 were overly cooked (clams were almost burned). The inside of the fried fish was mushy. The mac and cheese was pretty good. The 2.5 stars for Mackinac Grille make sense. I'll give three because it's a great spot on the water and they have a decent beer selection. The food is fine, but probably not worth a visit. At my table, a Michigan Salad was ordered and it came with raisins instead of cranberries. Waitress said that starting the day before, they were "trying something new with raisins." Mmmk. Their Olive Burger comes with a special "olive sauce" that looks like a mayo mixture with bits of olive in it. The tacos were good, but that's easy. The food is mostly fine. The service is fine. Favorless is best at that , broccoli was best part of the tinfoil wrap dish supposedly cooked butter ( butter was missing) . Fisherman's Platter shrimp , clams , whitefish was so over cooked that that clams where crunchy thru and whitefish was just short of being jerky . Shrimp was simply just breading at $15.99 . Two of us ordered the Maple plank smoked Whitefish served with an amazing vegetable medley and twice baked whipped potatoes. More food than one man can eat in one sitting. The 3rd gentleman ordered a burger. I was SAD. Served cold and not dressed as per menu. The server returned and offered a "redo". Several minutes later, it was placed in front of him and was beyond satisfactory. We drove 150 miles back home and raved the entire way over the food and service. We arrived here in the afternoon for lunch. When we entered, there was a line to get a table; however, there were clearly many tables open. Thankfully we did not have to wait too long to be seated, but this seemed to be a commonality as when we left we noticed again a line at the door with very few tables full. Once seated, it did take a little while for our waiter to come and take our orders. But once orders were placed, the food was out in an expected time. They do offer sweet potato fries here, which I ordered and was very excited about. However, when my burger order came out it arrived with normal fries. When this was mentioned, despite saying the normal fries were fine, our waiter brought additional sweet potato fries to make up for it. This was appreciated and the sweet potato fries were quite good. It did look like this restaurant offered seating overlooking the water, as well. Overall mediocre experience. read more

We had our wedding reception there, and it was absolutely fantastic! Cathy was phenomenal to work with and allowed us to tailor our meals/drinks and decorations. The waiters provided wonderful service and the whole team was very prompt and professional. Most of the guest raved about the planked whitefish with vegetables and mashed potatoes. This is what I ordered and both the quality and portion size exceeded my expectations. My wife ordered the Lobster Mac and loved it. Guests also enjoyed the planked chicken and walleye fingers. Should have listened to the reviews. Ordered fried cheese curds which never came out. Potato was old (they turn yellowish and sweet when they are held for more than an hour in a heating drawer) definitely not white and fluffy. Steamed vegetables were a soggy mess. Ordered a New York strip steak medium which was over cooked. I sent it back. Will see what comes out next. That being said, this was not the miserable experience previous reviews led me to expect. I ordered the whitefish patty melt, which was delicious, and a side of baked beans, which was a luke-warm Dixie cup of basic beans.
