Food is good, but this restaurant has no systems. Our reservation wasn't honored because they "didn't expect such an influx" of people. Once we were seated, it was 20 minutes before anyone waited on our table. We needed to ask for table settings, coffee cups, etc. We finally ordered, and it was an hour and a half before the food arrived. We have a limited amount of time to spend on the island and didn't expect to spend half the day waiting for breakfast. read more

we took our son -16 here for his birthday. we had the BEST service - thank you Wilder- the hostess is super friendly - Crystal - and all of our meals and appetizer was amazing. started w the bbq chicken wings. so flavor packed. my son had the steak and it was perfectly cooked. melt in your mouth tender. husband had the perch always a win and I had the house burger and parm fries. I could eat these everytime I eat here and never leave disappointed. thank you round island and Chef Brad for a great birthday dinner. read more

We ordered the salmon rare. The salmon came out cooked well done. The waiter did not tell us until he brought the food that the kitchen could not do it this way. We would have ordered something else if we had known. Glad we didn't order a steak or tuna (not on the menu) since the kitchen does not cook their food that way, rare or the way the customer wants it. The wild rice was white rice with a few grains of wild rice in it. The carrots were hard and basically raw. The restaurant was located off the beaten path, quite a walk from the Main Street. Nice area but a far walk. I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

Pretty decent food. I don't know that it's worth the price. We got the salmon which I didn't care for but my husband thought was ok. And I got some lemon Parmesan pasta which was alright but kind of bland. Also, our server was nice and attentive but she may have been new because she barely knew the menu and so it was hard for us to order. Worse meal I have ever had at an expensive restaurant. I ordered corn chowder to start, but unfortunately, they're only about 10 kernels of corn, but lots of bland potatoes. For the entrée I ordered scallops. There were only three on the plate sitting on top of big huge slabs of fat the scallops were way overcooked. The meal was a disaster. read more

We're staying at Mission Point and were looking for a casual breakfast. While the view of Lake Huron is nice, service is prompt, and we appreciated the dog-friendly patio, the food is pricey ($19 for avocado toast) and leaves a lot to be desired. We won't be coming back. Love the ambiance of the outdoor seating. Beautiful views. Service was also good. The food was good - we had mixed reviews. Pretzel appetizer was not our favorite because the pretzel was not warm that would have made it better. I had the perch and it was delicious. Drinks tasted good but they were not strong. Since we are staying at this resort we also had the breakfast. I was a big fan of the summer smoothie bowl and my family got the breakfast sandwich which was also good. Of all the food on the island this was not my favorite meal of all but it held up as being tasty and the environment and ambiance makes it even better. I'd recommend it to anyone who's staying in this resort. read more

This is a hotel restaurant which unfortunately I was unaware of when I made our reservation. It started out badly when I got my old fashion cocktail and the glass was only half full. My husband had to wait for his beer because they needed to put another keg in. That I can understand. What was very disappointing however was his entree. It was the scallops and bacon. He only got three tiny scallops and the bacon was more like pieces of pork. Thick and chewy. And this entree cost $40. Definitely not worth it. There was another surprising thing that happened. Our waiter apparently was going on bartending duty so half way through eating we were handed the bill. He didn't even ask how our dinner was so far, he just handed us the bill and left for the bar. He definitely needs more training. I had the Lake Superior whitefish which was fine but it came with asparagus which was very thick and woody. Also it had a tomato with some sort of spinach cream sauce with it. At this time of year all restaurants should be able to get fresh tomatoes. This was definitely a hot house tomato. We were just visiting the island for the day. We were having a nice time until dinner. It kind of put a damper on our whole experience. read more

Our server was very nice, but it wasn't the best food we could find on the island. My husband had purchased the reservations with the breakfast included so it was a bit confusing when I got the bill when he had stepped away. The food was cold when we received it and the "toast" was way undercooked and mushy. My husband's plate doesn't look like his was toasted at all. It also looked like There was film on the rim of the coffee cup. It was a huge turn off. read more

The greatest pro of this restaurant is that it does allow dogs outside and since we were traveling with our dogs, that was a relief. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't that great and so we were a bit chilly. We decided to order the two fish dinners. The hazelnut walleye was the absolute winner of the night, although our server really enjoyed the white fish and highly recommended that. The tomato and spinach side tasted like a spinach artichoke dip with tomato and that was delicious as well as the asparagus. However, the fish itself was very fishy and not to my taste. The hazelnut walleye was not fishy and it had an excellent crunch. It definitely was the winner of the two dishes and would highly recommend that. read more

I have no idea how this place is reviewed so poorly. I had my wedding reception here. Everyone was so easy to work with. We kept the servers very busy. The food was all delicious. I had the beer battered whitefish sandwich. It was excellent. I also tried the nut crusted walleye which was huge & delicious. I also heard good reviews on the perch & whitefish entrees. I have to give credit to the service which was great and they were very attentive to our children. However, the food was really subpar. Ordered avocado toast which was an avocado paste and frankly not palatable. My husband eats everything when we are picky, and even he couldn't eat it The baked goods were not enjoyable, tasted like they had been boxed. Even the pancake for my son was hard and much like cardboard. Would NOT recommend getting the breakfast package at the hotel, because you would be better off getting breakfast somewhere in town, sadly. We always stay at Mission Point when we are in Mackinac and we've had numerous meals at the Round Island Kitchen. The setting is beautiful with huge, expansive windows looking out over Lake Huron. Our service has always been top notch and the food is good as well. We really appreciate that kids under 12 eat free with the purchase of an adult entree. If the weather is nice, try to get a seat on the deck or grab a drink at the bar near the beautiful windows. Before or after eating here, spend some time reading by the fire in the Mission Point lobby. The architecture is stunning and the vibes are so cozy, especially in the fall! read more

First this restaurant is off to the side which made it a more intimate and quiet dining experience away from the crowds of the Main Street. The food was delicious; we had the hazelnut walleye and the pork porterhouse. Finished with the seasonal chai and pumpkin panna cotta. It seems Ike this would be a convenient spot if you're staying at Mission Point, however be prepared to spend half your day there waiting on service. Absolutely atrocious. My Mom and I decided to try and have a quicker, nice dinner on our last night here. The place was sparse, so it seemed like we'd have good luck. We ordered an app and then 20 minutes later a different server came over and said our tab was closed and we weren't ordering dinner. Excuse me what? Who said we weren't ordering? When I told the waitress we'd like to order, she became extremely irritated. We put in our food order and I also put in a drink order at the same time. 30 mins later, food came, still no drink, and now completely empty water classes (we tried to flag 3 different people down to ask for water, all of which completely ignored us and kept walking). When the waitress did finally come back, she didn't necessarily stop walking, her plan appeared to be a walk by to ask how everything was, and at that point, I had had enough of how poor the service was and how rude the staff was. I advised I ordered a drink 30 minutes ago and that we've been trying to flag people down for water (even going to the bar to stand to wait to ask) and when I was done, she simply stated, "your server went to dinner." So anyways, food was dry and bland, service was awful and the worst part, it was EXPENSIVE! You're better off going in to town to the Pink Pony or somewhere else for better food and better service. Our server Tray was great. The food was decent. The supervisor Carver was as arrogant man who did not listen. When paying the bill he came back and said my card was declined when I had thousands in available credit. Gave them another one with the same issue, While they were running the third card I called my bank. They had not received a request for payment and it was an issue with the system at the establishment, All three banks said the same thing. When I told him this he had the audacity to suggest I take money from the ATM. After asking to speak to the GM of the hotel, he finally called the finance director who manually ran the card through a Mission Point Outlet account. It was of course approved. Carver ran my cards a total of 12 times and not an apology from anyone other than Tray. This took close to an hour while my 86 year old mother was waiting. My cards were readily accepted by every other establishment we have frequented on the island, I will never return to Mission Point based on the treatment I received from Carver. read more

Really nice ambiance, while remaining casual. Felt very comfortable bringing children here. Staff was nice and attentive. Unfortunately, food was average and we found dead flies in our food, which makes it impossible to give more than two stars, even though the staff was great. I'd recommend a new menu/chef and fix the fly problem and I could see this at 4 or 5 stars in the future. Location is beautiful and they could do so much more with it. read more

My family and I were visiting a relative who was working on Mackinac Island this summer and thought to pop in to The Round Island Kitchen since we were staying at the Mission Point Resort and boy was that a god awful mistake! I should've known before hand while looking at the reviews this place had, but dismissed it due to it all mentioning breakfast and not dinner (what we were there for). We had about a 15 minute wait which was expected and no worry. We were greeted with great service...for the beginning. We placed our orders and drinks and next thing we knew we were waiting for 20 minutes and still did not receive our drinks. We talked to our waitress and she said she had accidentally given them away. Sure no problem, mistakes happen. When the food came out we were all hit with disappointment. I ordered the Roadhouse Perch where I received 4 pieces of the skinniest hairs of fish with sour mashed potatoes underneath, and 4 small piece of asparagus. For $40 this is unacceptable!! Not to mention, while eating I was hit with several fish bones stabbing my mouth. Next, my cousin ordered the Heirloom Tomato Pasta and was brought out 4 small sized raviolis. C'mon now?!?? When you go to a restaurant especially a more expensive one you should be getting quality food and/or larger portions. The total bill was close to $300 for 7 people for the worst meal ever! Not to mention the waitress never came back to check up on us and we constantly had to ask for more water. I would not recommend this on my worst enemy! Will not return to this place ever again. read more
