We were in St. Ignace to visit Mackinac Island and went to the Mackinac Grill for dinner on 09/28/20, a Monday night. The restaurant was busy and there was a 20 minute wait, not a big deal. We were seated and provided menus by the hostess. This is when service took a nose dive. We waited 12 minutes before even being greeted my our waitress. We ordered out meals and drinks immediately and drinks came soon after. The meal was prepared timely. The BBQ Bacon cheeseburger for myself and my wife had the Mac & Cheese. The burger was OK, not bad and not great, average. The $13 Mac & Cheese was cheesy, but for $13, not so sure. Halve way through my burger I ran out of water. The waitress never returned to check on us. I finished dinner with nothing to drink. When we were finished, the waitress was no where to be found. My wife finally went to the hostess stand after we were done for 20 minutes and asked for the check and a box. The waitress then finally shows back up and we paid the check. This would have been a 2.5 star review had the service not been so nonexistent. read more

Dinner was good when I first visited, the Jerk turkey burger was tasty as well as the coleslaw. However, I came back for breakfast the next morning and is was mediocre at best. ALL of our toast was burnt and the country potatoes taste like frozen french fries. We decided that it just wasn't the place to come for breakfast. When we came back for dinner the second time my order was wrong, but our server was very friendly and had them remake it. The spaghetti was bland and the chicken strips were rubbery. My boyfriend saw another server come out of the kitchen with a plate of food, and when some of the food fell off the plate onto the floor he picked it up and put it back on the plate and took it out onto the floor. We were there for the Hump Day burger special. 1/2# burger loaded with whatever you want from 30 different things including seasonings, sauces, and a host of things that could make your burger look like something Dagwood Bumstead made. For $7.99 you got that plus steak fries & cole slaw. When the platter arrived the fries were fresh from the cooker & oh so good. As they cooled they were normal steak fries. Cole slaw was just ok. While my husband's burger was more attractive than mine topped with egg, both were great. There's no way I planned to eat a 1/2# burger, but the special was only for that size. I don't know what they did to make it taste so good but before you know it I'd eaten it all. Bob enjoyed most of my fries after his were gone. The service was not stellar. The help needed to put their smile on. But I still managed to get two refills on my water. Friday night is all you can eat shrimp for just $14.99. If I lived closer I'd definitely check that out. read more

The Poorman's Fish was delicious, it was tender and light. The Italian Spaghetti was also great. The baby back ribs were fall-off-the-bone and not to spicy or not to bland - just right. The burger was tasteful, it was cooked just right. The whitefish was really good, and the steak fries were perfect. We initially just came for a quick look at the harbor, but soon decided to eat something. The food is overall delicious - and we would definitely come back. It has a lovely view of the pier, and the kids played bean toss while we waited for the food. Service was just right, and the drinks never stopped coming. Overall great experience. read more

The food was odd at best. I ordered the perch and they were curling up and looked over cooked. The meal was not worth the price. My wife got a salad which had massive filet medallions of steak. She got the salad to eat lighter by the bowl was gigantic and had so much steak I would have shared with her if I would have know the portion size. I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

Incompetant management couldn't understand that if you seat a custumer even though the kitchen is backed up ( which would also not happen if you were a competant manager ) they may drink more while waiting to be served, especially if that is what the customer requested. read more

WE stopped here for lunch on our way south from Sault Ste Marie. I had the Turkey Reuben, my husband had the Hamburger, our friend had the Steak and my mom had the Pastie. Both the Reuben and the steak were a hit, the burger and the Pastie not so much. Also they happened to have a brunch buffet set-up so you could not get a salad. You had to order the buffet to get that. We thought that was not very good customer service. Our server was pleasant and the food came hot and fairly promptly. September 8th, 2016 @ 12:00 My Fiancé and I went in for lunch, our bill was $42.00 ($50 with the tip our waitress didn't deserve) I ordered a BLT, he ordered the steak sandwich, we both got the salad bar and ordered an appetizer of cheese sticks (the cheese sticks are great!!) Our waitress started out ok, she got us our pop and water and put our appetizer in, she checked on us before they came out to see if we were ready to order, I ordered a BLT with no tomatoe or cheese and a milky way martini, it took about 20 min before my drink was brought out (we were the only table in the whole restaurant at this time) and when it did come it was awful, when our waitress brought our food I told her that she could take it, I wasn't going to drink it; she didn't take it. She walked away and about 15 min later she came back and said "my manager said you still have to pay for your drink", I said that's fine, I didn't ask you to take it off, but I do feel like she could worded it differently to not sound so rude.... we were never once asked how our food was or if we needed anything else. Which my food by the way was awful. It was all lettuce, I think there was one piece of bacon cut in half to look like two. I took one bite of my lettuce sandwich and could instantly taste tomatoe (I can't stand tomatoes,but they are lucky I didn't ask for no tomatoe because I was allergic) I open my sandwich to see if there was tomatoe on it, there wasn't a slice of tomatoe on it, but it was very clear that there was at one point and it was just taken off because there was tomatoe juice and seeds all over the bread. I couldn't eat it, not that lettuce and bread makes a good sandwich anyway, but I definitely can't stand the taste of tomatoe.... The next time she came to the table she asked if she could take anything out of our way, I told her she could take my plate (mind you only one bite out of my sandwich) she takes my plate and doesn't say a word... doesn't ask if something was wrong, if she could get me something else, nothing. The worst $50 I think I have ever spent! She is very lucky I was a waitress once and understand that you live off tips, we still tipped her 20% but we will never go back and I somewhat regret leaving her that tip and not making a complaint. read more

We chose this spot for its beautiful view of Moran Bay. Unfortunately our very poor service stood out much more than the view. We had to flag down a hostess to get a waitress after waiting for at least 15 minutes. An inexcusable faux pas in a dining room less than 50% full. Finally we got beverages and put in our order. The waitress brought the wrong appetizer. We didn't see her for 15 minutes more, until she brought our entrees. We told her about the appetizer and asked her to remove it from our bill, which she did without question. My husband had fish and chips from the fresh fish menu. He enjoyed it. I had the turkey rueben, which was done just right. Our waitress brought our check right after delivering our entrees, and she totally ignored our empty beverage glasses. We had to flag her down again to get refills. I decided to hunt down the manager. Her response to the above? "I'll talk to her (employee). I'm not a picky restaurant goer at all (I've served before and I know how hard it can be and that some customers expect you to turn their entire life around and win them the lotto) but this place was simply not good. I ordered the Mighty Mac burger medium rare and it came to me well done, with a charred outer layer and weird burnt sheet of something, which I later realized was the Mac and cheese sauce. I can overlook a burger not cooked to my liking since most places don't leave them pink anyway but the burger had NO TASTE. The Mac and cheese was just noodles since the sauce was a burnt sheet, the slice of cheese must have been cheap because even that had no flavor..and the meat was honestly flavorless. Steak fries were just steak fries but I'm honestly surprised a place can make something so easy be so utterly flavorless. Maybe this is just how the food is in the UP, I'm not sure but this left me disappointed. read more
