MacMedics, Millersville, MD After purchasing her iMac at the Apple Store, my mother's computer had some problems. We took it back to the Apple Store and they diagnosed a failed hard drive and replaced it. One week later the same problems were occurring. We didn't want to go through the hassle of going back to the Apple Store in the mall where we had to drag the computer through the parking lot and then through the shoppers inside. We decided to take it to MacMedics and we were pleasantly surprised with the professional, efficient and fast service. The location in Millersville, MD is convenient and the parking is right in front of the facility. When my husband and I started having problems with our own computers we decided to go back to MacMedics. Everyone we dealt with is knowledgeable, professional and dedicated to giving the best customer service and positive experience. After diagnosing the problems, it was determined our older laptops were at the end of their life cycles. We made the decision to purchase our new iMac from MacMedics rather than going to the Apple Store or ordering online. The computer arrived quickly after ordering and when we went to pick it up we were able to see the unit we were purchasing. Also, the data from our old computer was migrated to the new computer. While there, we were able to ask questions and we were given an overview of the new system. That is old fashioned customer service and my husband and I highly recommend their repair service but also their sales service. They are easy to deal with and go out of their way to give customer satisfaction. An additional service they provide is to recycle older/broken Macs and parts. I got a new Mac mini and I thought great all I need is more memory, no problem! Well the Macimini has ben redesigned and it is very difficult to add your own memory now unless you have the proper tools. I kind of screwed things up trying to wing it with the tools I had. I messed up my computer. Apple would not help me even though it was brand new and still under warranty. Then I sent it to a company in California who I thought fixed it. Sadly I was still having various issues. I never heard of MacMedic, but luckily all the stores are closed for help, so I thought I was going to a different Apple Store but I had registered to have my computer looked at by MACMedic and I am so glad I did. No one else would help me and these guys did. He saw the problem told me he could fix it. I could not use my Apple Care protection so I had to pay $299 out of pocket but I don't care. I've been a Mac user since 1990 as a designer. Mac Medics is one of only a few Apple Authorized Service Providers in the DC area. They have an excellent reputation in the Mac community. MacMedics excels in the service they provide because almost all of their technicians are Apple trained. In comparison, other Apple Authorized service providers may have a single person trained and you'd need to bring in your computer on the day that person is at work. Apple Genius Bar can have long wait times for appointments. My Mac was running very slow and I needed a quick turnaround. Also, I didn't have an easy way to lug my iMac thru the mall for service. I now have blazing fast speed on my Mac! It launches in 19 seconds. Photoshop launches in 6 secs. I can't believe it! They also repaired a known iMac hinge issue with the stand for my model at no charge. Apple shipped the part to them directly for the repair. I LOVE the Apple store, but the crowds drive me crazy. Not to mention the overworked bohemian hipsters who work there. I was driving from the College Park area to Bethesda Computers and also to the Apple Store, but I switched my allegiances, and now head in the other direction to MacMedics in Lanham, MD. They too are a little mom & pop (ish), but they've got way more square footage then the folks at Bethesda Computers used to have. They are Apple Authorized for sales and service, and as an added bonus there's no parking issues, and no lugging my gear though the mall. My girlfriend's PowerBook G4 took a dump, so we took it over to the guys at MacMedics, and they rescued the missing data, installed a new drive, and made it look just like it did before it died. MacMedics provided exceptionally great customer service when I took my MAC in to be evaluated for data recovery. Mike at MacMedics immediately evaluated my hard drive recommended a data recovery service that specialized in failed hard drives like mine. Before I left the store, I had already spoken to the data recovery service and Mike packaged the drive for overnight pick up. Additionally, he made a recommendation for replacement hard drive and within two days I returned to MacMedics and had my new hard drive installed. When I saw a scary window on my computer, I suspected malware but had no idea of what to do about it. I called MacMedics in Lanham, brought my computer to their location, and within 10 minutes, a knowledgeable, polite, and thorough employee got rid of the malware, installed an anti-virus app, and sent me on my way. I just bought in my MacBook Pro June 10, 2014. I was having problem on some web sites , they are overlay on the desktop in Safari Mike fix the problem in 24 hours. The problem was remnants of the Genieo. Mike ran scanning on the system and resolved itv for me. Im very happy now with return of my MacBook!!! MacMedics do excellent work. They are fantastic! They just recovered the data on my trashed MacBook Air. Apple was rude, another service provider was insane and wanted more than $1000 to do the same work, but MacMedics were honest, fast, friendly and got the job done for $99. No fuss, no muss.
