My MacBook Pro wouldn't turn on one morning... the day I had planned to back up the hard drive! I didn't know what the problem was, and I worried that the hard drive had died, before I was able to back it up. I took it in to MacPro-LA, and they said they would do some diagnostics. That was Friday evening. On Monday, I called back, and they had diagnosed and fixed the problem! The hard drive was ok! I was very happy, and backed it up as soon as I got home. They charged me a very reasonable amount for the work that was done, probably saved me more than $100 over what a different place would have charged me. Needless to say, I am very happy! read more

Ray understands customer service in an old school way that is very rare these days. Case in point, I brought in an old and abused macbook pro for a few relatively minor repairs. He quoted me a fair price, we agreed and that was that. Well in the process of executing the repair, there were multiple additional system failures (not his fault, the machine was already on its last legs). This in turn required a replacement of the logic board, hard drive and a full data recovery, which would have been far more expensive than the initial price quote. Regardless, he stood by his word and only charged me the amount which we had agreed upon despite all of the extra parts and labor. So that was a solid, upstanding move on his part, and I was able to squeeze a few more years out of the machine. When it came time to replace it, I went back to him and he offered me a really good deal on a slightly used macbook pro that I have been using happily and trouble free ever since. read more

I accidentally spilled my bottle of water all over my MacBook airs keyboard and freaked out one night and found macpro la on Yelp. I felt as though the cost of getting it repaired would probably be more expensive than replacing it however I gave it a shot and called them ASAP to check. They offer a free diagnostic to see what will need to be changed or replaced and ray was kind enough to do my diagnostic for me when I came since I didn't live nearby. He let me know a quote and what would need to be replaced and after a day he was able to get it back to me!! Ray and Vivian are amazing and helpful. Very straightforward and trustworthy! The person ok the phone was rude. I saw an ad posted on Craigslist for an iMac 2019 with 64gb of ram. The ad had one price and I called to make sure of the pricing. Two days later the price changed and I told the person about it. He was very rude and said that the other price was never there, but I have a screenshot from the ad. If he said that it was a mistake then I would have been fine, but he was rude over the phone and said that was never the price. Would have preferred if he said it was a mistake. A group of Avengers if you will: a doctor, a dentist, a mechanic, and an Apple technician. These could evolve into friends, but they don't need to be. Going to a third party Apple tech is like going to a 3rd party mechanic: it's cheaper, you rarely have a wait time, and you receive that ma and pa environment. Finding any good small business like Pro-LA is all about consistency. Just like dining in a restaurant, you can have a good meal once, but what makes a restaurant stand out is if you get the same quality of service, atmosphere, and food consistently every single time you go. Purchasing a product from Pro-LA is an effortless and easy experience, but the real judgment factor comes into play when one has to deal with Pro-LA afterwards just in case a problem arises. This is not a one and done shop by any means. Words cannot explain the AMAZING service I received from Ray and his team, but I will do my best to try. My Macbook Pro's hard drive crashed due to an incident so my excursion began at the Apple Store's Genius Bar (Not sure why they call it a Genius Bar....they are mostly MORONS with no experience in repairing computers, let alone diagnosing problems, and they are mostly brainwashed hipsters that feel a need to wear tasteless vintage clothes and grease their Handlebar mustaches in order to fit into society......so lame!.....GROW UP!!) After making an appointment and waiting several hours at the Apple Store, I received the news I expected which was they can't fix it because they no longer stock the parts....what a JOKE this place is! This was my LAST visit to the Apple Store and I will NEVER return again, even for accessories. The Apple Store is seriously a joke and filled with bandwagon jumpers anyway, who were mostly PC people and ONLY jumped on the Apple Bandwagon after the creation of the ipod!......MINDLESS FOOLS! While we are on the subject of this AWFUL place, there should really be 2 lines in every Apple Store, one for dedicated Apple users like myself who have always used them since Grammar School (Pre-1984 introduction to MAC) and one line for bandwagon fans who needed the invention of the ipod in order to pull them away from the PC world and into Apple's! Ok, on to MacPro-LA! This place ROCKS! I called this place up after leaving the Apple Dump and Ray answered the phone. He was extremely courteous and assured me he could bring my computer back from the dead at a REASONABLE cost. Not only that, be he would NOT charge me a diagnostic fee (Or Extortion fee as I call it, like other 3rd party Apple repair companies do) needless to say I jumped in the car and drove over to his shop which is open LATE and has PLENTY of parking! 2 MAJOR pluses in my book. Upon arriving at his shop and meeting Ray, there was NO LONG LINES or waiting customers like "Other places". Ray sat me down and asked me to explain what was wrong. He offered me a FREE loner computer to take while I left mine. I almost fell over with the customer service I was receiving!! I felt that SURELY I would get screwed somehow in this deal as everything up to this point was too good to be true! After explaining the situation, Ray said not a problem I will have a look at it first thing in the morning and would call me with an update. The next morning at 10am my phone rang and it was Ray, first asking me "How I was doing"?....what a guy. He then told me he looked at my computer and had a few different options for my hard drive replacement and data recovery....ALL OPTIONS WERE EXTREMELY REASONABLE in price. I gave him the "Ok" and he went to work on it. I figured I would hear back from him in a few weeks like most other repair companies. My phone rang again at 4pm that same day, Ray said my computer was ready to be picked up!....ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Same day service?? HA!! Try THAT at the Apple Store!!.....NEVER! I walked into MacPro-LA at 5pm that day and AGAIN....there was NO LINE and NO ONE waiting! I felt like a Rock Star! Ray sat me down and began to show me what he had done with my computer. The first thing I noticed was my computer was SPOT LESS CLEAN! I didn't even recognize it! Ray had not only cleaned my computer, but DETAILED it to perfection! It looked like a new computer! He then showed me what he did and introduced me to one of his technicians, Chris. Chris was just as personable as Ray and a TRUE "GENIUS" when it comes to Macs. Ray also told me he checked my computer in full and replaced my broken DVD drive with a new one at a fraction of the cost (With my previous approval of course). Ray also updated ALL my software and made sure everything was running BETTER than before. I gladly paid him and left. At 7pm that night, just after Ray closed his shop, I had a question for him regarding my computer. I called his store and received no response so I hung up (Must have just missed him) ......seconds later my phone rings, it is Ray who calls me by my name as soon as I answer and asks how he can help me. (I ask you people......How can customer service be better than this?) Ray solved my issue over the phone and told me to call anytime, he is always available to help me. THE BOTTOM LINE: If you are in need of ANY service, repair, or want to purchase any Apple products, there is NO BETTER place to go than to MacPro-LA. If you bring an item in for repair here, chances are that item will be working BETTER than it ever did when you get it back! Ray and his staff will take EXCELLENT care of you and all your needs! Give Ray and his team a chance before you buy from 'Shifty Joe on Craigslist'. They are about quality, not quantity. And customer service is amazing both before, during, and after your purchase. I simply can't believe how great this place is. The other reviews are right on, but don't go far enough. The care for the client is not just top-notch, but actually beyond that of almost any other business I've ever dealt with- Apple-related or not. And I've dealt with a lot in my 60 years. I got my first Mac over 30 years ago. DO NOT GO TO MELROSE MAC- it was one of the Apple certified repair and data-recovery places recommended by the local Apple store, and It's a complete rip-off. In my experience, they are liars and thieves, and not one of the employees give a damn about the clients. MacPro LA has had numerous opportunities to take advantage of me, and instead has saved me money at every turn, never charging for extremely fast diagnostics (even over the weekend), and always recommending the cheapest AND best solution. I'm still in shock over the kindness of my latest transaction with them and had to write this to thank them. Ray has proved to me on many occasions that his integrity is impeccable, and you can trust him with what sometimes feels like your life itself when your computer and/or your personal data are compromised. I've never bought a Mac from them, but from what I can tell, their prices are extremely fair, and almost always a better solution than a new or refurbished one from Apple. WOW! THIS IS WHY WE HAVE YELP!!!! My Macbook Pro was acting up and as I am in graduate school and taking online courses...I NEED to have my laptop be 100%. My computer screen went blue! I came to this place at 2pm. My computer was dead out dated and super old. This place saved me! Got all my data back and back up service done for free! I was so happy to discover that they were close as well as all their positive Yelp reviews. I dropped off my iMac this morning and described the issues to Ray and he had a good idea of what the problem was from my description. I have purchased new and refurbished computers from them and had repairs done. I'm always pleased with the service and price.

We had a buggy Mac and due to budgetary concerns, deadlines and remote location of our production studio I called ahead to check on the availability on one of the Mac Pro they had online. When I inquired about its specifications I was left on hold and was never gotten back to after 5 minutes I hung up. I called a couple hours later and left a voicemail during their normal business hours. No call back. The following day I called again and asked about the Mac Pro and when they closed. I was told it was no longer available and they closed at 6pm. I wouldn't make it in time but I drove the 4 hours from Central California anyway and got lodging. Having limited options in farm country for computers Let alone an Apple you do what you have to do. MACPRO-LA appear to have deals online that are cheaper than eBay and local retailers in the Los Angeles area. I arrived shortly after opening and asked if they had other 12 core 2012 models. Of course at $600+! But they have a really nice cheap Mac Pro bin too! $2000+ than I had planned on spending or was in their online models. So... Lets look at the level up priced Mac Pro. I was looking at a 12 core online. Apples for apples - I thought - Late 2012 model 12 core but the clock speed it was running at is sketchy and he has OS Sierra on it. He hooks it up and I try to do an apple hardware test. Powered up, Pressed "D" at start = Nothing. Restarted command+D=nothing. Short of sacrificing a live chicken and sprinkling blood on the firewire ports nothing worked. He tried. I tried. Nothing. There was no way for me to check the system. He said it was the desirable original late 2012, 12 core. It was not. The CPU was running at a "non-apple" manufactured clock speed. The computer was so frankensteined it wouldn't perform a self test. Hungry and needing food we left. By the way there was no prices, no labels, no stickers, post-it notes on anything I looked at and the price seemed arbitrary when asked. Rational: Guy drives 220 miles to "see" a computer must have $$$. Well not really, we did have $, and we went elsewhere and found better deal after some searching less than a mile away from this shop. Everybody has a bad day in customer service and this was theirs. However the sales "strategy" was not appreciated by myself at all. I haven't fished in 20 years but I still know what bait smells like. read more
