This is a nice local place that is fairly unassuming. The inside doesn't have a ton of seating, but it's a comfortable space. My family's favorite stop for fish and chips. My husband came from a coastal city with easy access to delicious fish and chips and this is a close as we can get for the fish. Americans usually have thinner fries but these would also be great with some slap chips or fries that are thicker, softer, - even on the "soggier" side. But it's good either way. The batter isn't seasoned or so it seems, so the fish is finished off with a touch of course salt after it comes out the fryer. Most of the time it needs more salt except this time, as you can see from the picture. Service is generally quick. A few tables inside and in the summertime, some outside. Well, this is not the review I thought that I'd be leaving for Mac's. We're on their email list, and they send out messages every Monday. We felt excited that the offer was free Mahi with purchase. We'd not tried this here before, so it was an interesting prospect for something new. Unfortunately, the fish was TERRIBLE. It was squishy, bouncy, had a weird chewiness, and it appeared that the bloodline had not been removed. We both have had Mahi at other places and never experienced anything like this. We were glad that we hadn't paid for it. Refunds would have been in order. We were so happy that we had cod to eat. It removed the taste of whatever the heck that Mahi was supposed to be. While we will be back to Mac's, the Mahi will never again be on the menu. The haddock is my fave. read more

Parking was small and people do fight for their spots.. Lol had a quick driver just steal my spot so I had to circle back around. Interior is small as well, some places to sit but I prefer outside as I can people watch and just enjoy the weather. I do wish there was a station outside for at least some water and condiments, napkins and etc. Reasoning is because of the interior being small, and there is always a line, which is amazing for business. I drive about 15 miles just to get their fish because we like it that much, but is not inexpensive . The disappointing part is that they charge you extra for about 2 tablespoons of tarter sauce. I recently got mac's fish and chips for the fist time in a while and the first time since the pandemic has started. I was very interested because they said they have curbside pickup which was appealing because if you have been here before this business is very very small inside even before the pandemic it was a little too tight of a space. So I did my online ordering which went great and I got to macs, there is no number to call or anything so I had to look it up. The gal on the phone seemed very annoyed that I wouldn't walk in to get my food and that she had to bring it out to me. The food was great but this experience wasn't the greatest, I have had this happen at other places too. Please don't offer curbside if you aren't willing to bring it out. Overall though the food was great, we got the cod fish tacos (which I swear they gave us walleye but either way they were good), halibut baskets and cheese curds. My mom loved the cheese curds. The fries are on point as well. The key lime jalapeño tartar sauce is the real kicker! Dip your fries in it and your might cry with joy. But seriously you gotta check this place out. Inside is maybe a bit scary and dank, but with that much grease flying around constantly for that many years, I can understand. I've read reviews saying the take out is bad. Well, yeah, of course. This is fresh, hot, crispy golden brown glorious fish. It would turn to a pile of mush if you tried to take it home. When's the last time French fries tasted good after 10 minutes of sitting out? Never. Just eat in. I've tried the Halibut, Walleye, and Cod. All 3 are awesome. I've had Cod that was just as good as the halibut and it's quite a bit cheaper so it's your call if you want to spend more. The homemade tartar, the malt vinegar, the fresh cut fries.
