I have had exceptionally good experiences here, and then I have had exceptionally terrible experiences, too. I think it completely depends on who helps you. I love their stuff and their prices, and the fact that when I ask for a discount, usually I can get one despite never really having a good reason or coupon for it. Also, my husband and i registered for our wedding here and it turned out great for us! I will note that registry returns get you store credit only, not cash, but that worked for us. I did not like it when it took them 45 minutes and 6 sales associates (I'm not even exaggerating) to figure out how to use my Macy's gift card to purchase some workout clothes that I wanted. I was pissed, because as I have mentioned in other reviews, I think it is slimy and very bad business when stores make using their own gift cards difficult. But, at the end of that fiasco, I demanded an additional half off the final price (which was already good because of the sales) for my trouble, and they gave it to me. Ha! read more

My grandfather started working at Macy's in 1927, worked there his entire life... I had up until today had brand loyalty towards Macy's. I have always loved shopping there. But today I went shopping for my wife's birthday. I waited 20 minutes for help, only receive treatment that would've made a Buddhist monk rage. Since when do customers work for the salesperson??? She was annoyed that she had to wait on me. I was exceptionally kind, made no demands, I just needed to see an item, an expensive item, you would have thought that I asked for her soul. I finally decided that I am no longer shopping at this store after several unsuccessful shopping attempts. I went in last night to get Calvin Klein panties as per usual and found them spread across three tables with sales signs above. The store was dirty and disorganized and there was one checkout open on the entire floor. After waiting in line for half an hour (and there was only one person in front of me) my purchase was rang up for $100 and should have been $35. I was told to go downstairs to customer service for help, which I did. They tried to ring up the purchase and somehow came up with $85. I showed them the price on the 3 signs and they said they couldn't ring up that price for my purchase. Be aware that going to different checkouts will result in different pricing. Lesson learned and over an hour wasted unsuccessfully trying to purchase from this disorganized store. I will not return. read more

Being that this Macys is in the Galleria, it is obviously one of the best Macys there is. It is huge and does not lack in anything. It is 3 stories which allows every department to have ample space. I usually think Macys junior section sucks, but this one isn't bad. There are things I would actually wear and I'm not a junior anymore. The shoe section is especially good, but be aware that it is a high pressure area. The sales associates will swarm you in order to make commission off of you. The other thing that I like about this Macys is that they are attached to a major parking garage. I can usually find a spot in this particular garage. read more

Asked Justin if I could try on two pairs of shoes he said yes and that he would bring them out. I'm waiting around he's walking around scanning boxes, asking people if they need help, going to get other peoples shoes, every time he walks past me he makes eye contact for two seconds and quickly looks away and never says anything nor does he ever bring my shoes. So 40 minutes of waiting and I'm wondering what's taking so long so I ask him if he's getting them still he says "oh yeah I'll bring them out" He comes back with one pair of shoes that weren't even close to what I asked for and he opens it up and says "are these it?" I say no so he goes back comes back with another box of random shoes so at this point I'm irritated I tell him never mind and leave to another store to pick some things up. I then come back to Macy's and this really nice older lady (I didn't catch her name) helped me. She gets the correct shoes and sells them to me all under 10 minutes. Your typical department store. If you come at the right time, you can of course find some good deals. I went in mid-March looking for a cocktail dress to change into during my wedding reception and pulled 15 dresses to try on in my size in the dressing room. I went on a Tuesday morning and there were a few teens with their moms prom-dress shopping I guess during spring break. Needless to say, the dressing rooms were especially busy because one set near the dress dept was closed! Anyhoo, thanks to their randomly-spaced price check scans, I looked up the prices to my top 3 choices - all turned out to be less than $40 - and my favorite one was $9.99! I looked smashing in the dark purple, lampshade-pleated number that swirled out when I spun around the dance floor. AND IT WAS $10! I came here a couple of weeks ago looking for a men's watch as a gift for my new life partner and Macy's had a sale. Unfortunately, I came in between sales so I had to "pre-purchase" the watch at the sale price and return to pick it up or I could pay full price that day and return to get a price adjustment after the sale price kicked in. The sales associate Lucy was helpful and rang up my pre-purchase. She assured me I could get a gift receipt so LP could adjust the wristband. I returned 3 days later and a different sales associate retrieved the watch. Here's how the exchange went: Me: Thanks! Let me make sure it's the right item. Hey, isn't there supposed to be a gift receipt in here so he can get the watch band adjusted? Noob sales associate: Uh, I don't know. Isn't that the receipt in the bag? Me: No, just my receipt with the price. I'd like my fiance to be able to come back and get the wristband adjusted at no cost. May I have a gift receipt? Noob sales associate: Well, he could just bring the receipt with him to do it. Me: Yes, but I'd prefer to get a gift receipt so that he doesn't see exactly what I paid for the item. Noob sales associate: Oh, well he can bring the receipt and watch with him and we can take care of it. Me: Yes, but I would like a gift receipt. You know, one that doesn't show the price on the receipt so that when he gets it and brings it in for adjustment, he doesn't see the exact price I paid for the item? I mean, even Target gives gift receipts, but Macy's can't give me one? Noob sales associate: Uhhh... Me: Can I speak to someone else? So a 2-min pick-up turned into like 10 min during rush hour on a Friday afternoon as I was trying to get my butt from the nail salon to the wedding rehearsal. I find out that the gift receipt needs to be printed at purchase. I think ended up asking them to refund my credit card and let me re-purchase it, but a more experienced associate was able to help without doing all that. They need to improve their sales training. Side note: really easy parking right next to the jewelry section coming off Hidalgo. read more

Macy's can be pricey, we all know that. But sometimes you are willing to pay a little more for the convenience of finding some cute stuff without bearing the horror of spending hours in the rest of the mall. One store, lots of good options. Get in, get out. I can pay for that. read more

i'm not crazy about huge department stores and looking around for one thing i can't find but i really like macys. i think it takes me back to those days when i used to hide from my parents in the racks and when i would smell every fragrance they offered. but now i find things like $5 dresses and it makes me all giddy in a new way. i love when they have their clearance sales. i always find something good. plus macy's is high class enough to buy someone a present from there but cheap enough to be affordable with brand names. i love it. downside is that looking for a register to check out of without a line is basically impossible. i came here during black friday too and they had really great deals. you can look online and get 10-15% off coupons too, almost year round. this macy's in particular is nice and usually well stocked. read more

This review is for the cosmetics department of Macy's-- This is about to run a little long so just bear with me ladies and gents... This department is the epitome of pushy saleswomen trying to get you to buy anything they can get away with. Fortunately for me, I'm well versed in the practices as I've worked retail in the past and I'm a makeup addict (not an artist). If I happen upon here, it's because I have a gift card or they have something that Sephora is sold out of and I hate ordering online. Also, they have Inglot cosmetics, which is one of my favorite brands and it's not sold anywhere else in Houston. If I can remember her name, I'll come back and update. But for now, let's call her Jane. Jane is sometimes here when I roll around this department. The two times out of the 4 that she's assisted me, I was making a return. The first time was because I purchased a primer from Urban Decay that turned my face into breakout city and exchanged it for a Too Faced product. The second time was because the Laura Mercier foundation compact Macy's shipped to me broke, so they sent me a replacement and I came in to return the defective one. The first time, poor Jane was trying to tackle my exchange and 2 other customers (one of which she was doing makeup for) at the same time. What the hell Macy's? They should know better than to understaff such a department. Especially with the holidays getting closer. Also, Jane has a habit of calling her clients "sweetie." I wouldn't mind this if only she didn't sound so condescending and didn't look but maybe 5 years older than me. One time we got around to talking about the scammy Bella Terra cosmetic carts that sit around the Galleria and how they've approached me on numerous occasions. She laughed and said that they would never approach her because "they know that [she] ACTUALLY knows how to use makeup" implying that I don't know shit of course, lol. It was just an overall iffy experience with her every time. Now, one last thing-- one time an older sales associate was following me around the displays and finally asked if I needed assistance to which I thanked her and said that I didn't. I'm more of an independent shopper anyway, if I need help, I'll ask. She gets almost 4 inches from my face and starts asking me if I'm shopping for myself or for a relative or for the holidays and what am I looking for and just putting me through the third degree. She kept offering to try products on me that I already have and kept suggesting things just to suggest things. It took me eternity to shake her off my back. This made me so uncomfortable I had to leave empty handed even though I really wanted to try the Too Faced Chocolate Soliel Bronzing powder. Boohoo. I can't tell you enough how thrilled I am after my experience at Macy's (specifically the Impulse make up counter) today. I was looking for all new makeup because everything I had bought previously over the years just wasn't doing it for me anymore I.e the colors were all wrong for me skin tone and type. If you've shopped at Ulta or Sephora you know what I'm taking about when you feel like they push certain products on you, even if you already have an idea of what you want to try based on positive reviews online or previous experience with that product. I'm now officially a firm believer that you need to buy makeup at a department store because the beauty specialist not only KNOW what they're doing but they let YOU tell them why or why not a product has worked for you in the past, the results you want to see, THEN give their professional opinion about it. Not only this, but you don't feel like you're being rushed out of the store, and can feel %100 comfortable and happy with your purchases because they've taken the time to help you. I have to give a shout out to two specialist in particular, Jamie and Shana, who listened to my concerns about previous makeup I've tried and then helping me try on products that actually WORKED for me! Everything from primer, foundation, bronzer and blush- all in colors and consistencies that compliment my skin type and tone. I haven't had my makeup professionally done in 15+ years because the one time I did I looked like a clown but today, with their help, I feel beautiful. I lost my mother recently, which has been difficult to say the least, but it's moments like these when someone goes above and beyond for you and are genuine in the process, that really brighten up your day. Came here not to long ago and got the Gavinchi cologne. I really liked it, had a unique smell. The lady who worked here was able to get me 20% off for whatever reason. I think she did a really good job in helping me amongst that and armani. I always love going to Macy's when it comes to perfumes/cologne. read more

I had to run by quickly to the Galleria to grab dress socks as I forgot to pack any for my trip. I thought it opened at 9 am so I showed up at 9 only to discover 10 am is when they open. My mistake and it allowed me to actually sit in a tranquil environment for an hour. The Galleria is quiet an hour before opening and I don't get much of peace and quiet. The store did open promptly at 10 am. I needed the Men's section which ironically was not crystal clear where it was located. So directions did not seem obvious/I missed them. So I did end up asking someone who pointed me in the right direction. When I got down there a nice lady/staffer walked up to me and asked what I needed. I am always a huge fan of pro active customer service so I wish I would have remembered her name to give her credit here. She pointed me to the sox. The variety of choices were good so I quickly picked out what I needed. The lady at the register looked like she was running a little late but rang me up as quick as she could and spoke to me pleasantly. The one thing I will say is the store seemed hot and humid. It was cool and dry in Houston that week (surprisingly) and the mall proper was very nice. But the actual store was very hot and i was on the bottom floor of a three story Macy's. Not a huge issue as the unexpected weather may have caused issues with timed AC/Heat or something similar. read more

I wish it were possible to give a zero star rating. Pull up a chair and let me tell you a tale. I did a buy online pickup in store order. Got a Dutch oven that weighs roughly 10 pounds. I also had my 3 yr old with me. They put the Dutch oven in one of their cheap plastic bags so of course it broke on the escalator. On my foot. The 3 yr old thought it was hilarious. When I hobbled to the closest counter get a new bag, the associate refused. Said I could have stolen the item and that she needed to see a receipt. Ok...awkward, amiright??? But whatever, I showed her the email Macy's sent me with payment information and even a picture of the purchased item. This. Was. Still. Not. Enough. She demanded to see my credit card. At this point I'm 1. In pain 2. Annoyed beyond belief. and 3. Embarrassed that a crowed of people are huddled and listening to me get accused of theft so I threw the pot and toddler on my hip and marched out. Never again Macy's. You are the worst. It's not surprising to me that a company that carries Trump products would treat its customers like this. read more

I recently came into a gift card and wanted to use it here. I had come in with my boyfriend to look around, but the place was so disorganized and cluttered I couldn't find anything. No sales people asked me if I needed any help. So I resigned myself to do some online shopping. I picked out a few items and had them shipped to my house. It took an abnormally long time for them to be delivered, seeing as how there's a Macy's not even 4 miles away from me. Once it was shipped somehow it had switched carriers and the wrong address was put on my package. So it was delivered at the wrong address and the wrong person signed for it. Taking four hours to track down my package and attempt to get it returned to me. Macy's continually insists to resend out the package and investigate the claim. I told UPS that I wanted to go get it myself after they had already messed it up and they told me due to confidentiality reasons they could not tell me where my package was with my name on it, and they had to send the driver out again. Macy's told me I had to do a signature verification form to prove that it was delivered to the wrong place, so they can ship a new package out, even though it had a totally different person's name signed. I found this whole process to be very irritating and I highly doubt I'm going to ever use Macy's again. read more

I Hardly come to Macy's but I came in to redeem a gift certificate form my bday. I went to the makeup counters and all the staff was very helpful. I must say Cory took the lead and really helped me find exactly what I was looking for. He took the time to help me find a makeup brand that was for my skin tone, applied the makeup on me, and told me when the sales are happening. Cory also added me to a calling list and I now receive phone calls from him. Would have never went back of it wasn't for his excellent customer service since I'm not a Macy's shopper. But I now buy all my makeup there . read more

I love the selection and sizing. I worked in retail so I appreciate the sizing and overall layout of the store. You can find gold in their sale racks and even their regular prices are ok. The customer service is not the best, you can hit or miss. I've been to other Macy's throughout town and this is clearly the best. I recommend going on the weekend. Just bring a bit a patience for parking and the constant Macy's credit card references. read more

During my last shopping trip to Macy's which took place December 26th. I made an exchange on the 2nd floor and wanted to go to the 3rd floor to buy sheets and a bedspread. The elevator was broken. I am handicapped due to a permanent injury from a car wreck. My ability to stand and walk is very limited. I do use a cane to prevent myself from falling but I'm still very limited. I was scared to ride the escalator being as wobbly as I am, due to my left leg barely being able to move, I was afraid I would fall while getting on the escalator having to hold my cane and bag in one hand and my leg not moving well. I asked a male associate right infant of the escalator if anyone could help me carry my cane up the escalator since the elevator was broken. Another male associate then walked up and told me I could go out to the garage and take the elevator there to the 3rd floor. He would not even point me in the direction of the garage. I did as he said but there was no entry in the garage on the 3rd floor and the idea of walking all the way around to whatever store I could get into and then go back through the mall to Macy's was not something at that I could do at that point. I was quite close of physically collapsing on the floor. I am limited in the amount of time I can stand and walk. So I went back down to the 2nd floor and back inside Macy's and a customer there who was eating in the snack area and who works at a store in the mall but not Macy's helped me. She rode the escalator and carried my cane for me. So then I was on the 3rd floor. No one was there at the counter because that associate was helping another customer. Of course, she refused to help me again and again. And was even more unempathetic and snobbish and rude as the two male clerks with obvious bigotry toward the handicapped. I was very close to collapsing on the floor. I carried what I could find up to the counter, I need one hand free for the cane so of course, I had to set that quilt and sheet on the floor. When she finally started to ring me up I found out that there was only one sheet in the package, not a set. I then asked if there were any bed in bag options and she pointed to an area. Again, I hadn't any assistance as I looked at them. There were names and prices on the shelves but I had no way of telling which ones went with those names and prices. I can't bend down to the lower shelf and they were very heavy for me to pull out to try to look at so I was very limited I couldn't make the selection I would have liked to have made. I pulled out one that was close enough to what I wanted as that was all I could do. I asked if there was any chair anywhere in the floor in the bathroom or anywhere I could sit down and she said very rudely no we have no chair on the floor. (It was a lie - there are two chairs - one in the bathroom and one by the elevator) I left the bed in a bag there at the counter as I could not stand up one minute more and went to try to find somewhere I could sit down. I was very close to collapsing on the floor. I was totally out of breath and in a great deal of pain in my leg and feet. The people in the mattress area were very nice and let me sit on a mattress. When I felt like I could stand again I went back to stand in line at the counter, many people who had been checked out came after me. I finally got up to the counter again. She said did you find something I had found something about two hours ago and it was there at the floor of her counter all that time as I was waiting to be able to stand by it. I reached down and pulled up the bed in the bag and it was very heavy so as I lifted it to put it on the counter I couldn't help but gasp and cry out. She said are you okay. I said no not really. Of course, she was very slow in ringing me up as she was calling out to other representatives to ask if somebody was at this other register and she said that another register had to be open for the customers. And I said I wish I could have gone to another register rather than sit on the mattress all that time with the bed in the bag at her counter while she rung up all those people who came after me until I was recovered enough to try to wait in line and she said, "Oh it isn't that, I need to have my break." She said that she is having to work long hours and that there aren't enough associates and it is awful for her. I said well I'm so sorry to hear that you are in such pain and discomfort and close to passing out--reffering to myself. She offered no help for me to get the bed in a bag to my car other than having it delivered by UPS January 7th which seems a long time for something purchased in the store on December 26th. read more

Placed an order online that Macy's cancelled for no reason. I replaced the order with customer service. Ended up with double billing on my credit card and only one set of material shipped. Have been working to correct the problem since Nov, 2016 and it is still not corrected. It is hard for Macy's customer service in other countries to understand or care that they owe me almost $1000. I like this location because they usually have good stock. But today was not the case on their one day sale. I was looking to purchase a polo from the Lacoste section and gave the shirt to the sales rep to hold until I was finished shopping. Came back to check out with the cashier only to find out the shirt was not part of the one day sale, at least on her computer. Now, my reason for shopping at Macy's today was their one day sale that I saw online. The shirt was on sale for $69.99, then reduced to $51.99 for the one day sale. If the cashier didn't want to go the extra mile to see if her computer was wrong, then it was her loss not mine. She couldn't wait to get my sale because she was afraid I would go to another cashier while shopping and not get credit for the sale. So, I went to the Lacoste store just down the mall and they had the same EXACT shirt on sale for $48.99, CHEAPER than Macy's! Not only did I get better attentive service at Lacoste, but the shirt was CHEAPER! Who doesn't like a good sale? I came home and checked online and sure enough, if it's on sale online it's on sale in the store. That's what it said for today's one day sale. I probably won't shop here again, just because Macy's is not the grand store it use to be. read more
