So my honey and I visited Macy's on 2/1/2020 men department store looking for a leather jacket. Once we found the jacket we needed assistance in having it removed from the rack for security reasons, my honey went to the shoe department to ask for assistance and comes back with a young man by the name of Spencer, now this young man is a black man walking towards me with his WAIT FOR IT........ NATURAL HAIR IN A AFRO!!! my mouth dropped I was filled with immediate joy at that moment seeing this young man with his big beautiful Afro I was PROUD!, I was so proud to see him and even more I was PROUD OF MACY'S! This might not seem like something big to anyone else or any other ethnicity but as a black woman this was everything to me!, I felt a sense of understanding from MACY'S I felt a sense of relief, a small but powerful breath of fresh air! This review is for the MAC counter. Today the ladies seemed a little stressed and impatient. I could feel their energy so I asked the one young lady if it was me bringing that energy or if there was something going on. She said that they were short of people because some were out with the flu. She did apologize so I added a star. I bought what I needed and got away fast. I get it... Really. I was going to look at the men's department but it was ripped. I could barely walk around. A relative was in the women's shoe depart and it was the same way. A big mess. Well, I am preparing to go live in China for awhile and needed to grab some new gear. Macys normally pulls through with the average/nicer clothing for an affordable price, so we hit it up. Thank gawd for women with taste and class to help us with our shopping. Picked up new undies, undershirts, shoes, pants, cologne, a watch I have had my eye on and some slacks. Just dropped a grip here about a month ago too on a bunch of dress clothes, dress shoes and socks, sigh. Service here has always been good. I really can't complain about this location service wise but I can say that their store is a little shabby looking at certain hours during the day. I atribute that to the demographic in the area and also because they seem understaffed a few times that I have been in there. Overall, I'm a fan! Wanted to drop 3.5 stars but hell... you guys hook it up with huge discount cards in the mail and now I am all set for China. read more

I'm not a big fan of this mall definitely think it needs some updating to compete with other malls near by they have done some changes but definitely need more I do frequent there Macy's though they are the only Macy's close to me that carry my favorite brand of powder make up bare minerals its so conviniant because I have a Macy's card I live closer to stone wood mall and they don't carry it I like shopping at cerritos mall but they don't have it either so I just come here customer service isn't anything amazing but just the fact that they have it here I'll keep coming they also carry a pretty cool brand for men called american rag I love it they have great outfits foe guys well priced too read more

My mother has a credit card with this department store. Tonight they called my house but since the caller ID only said 5135738739, I didn't pick up. They left a message on our answering machine: "You have an important call but none of our representatives are available to speak to you". Since they didn't mention what was so important right away, it must not be. This store stinks to call just to immediately put its customers on hold. read more

1 stars.... If it wasn't for the great customer service I received from 1 employee in the male shoe department. I believe her name was Angel. She was amazing, attentive, helpful and very sweet. Was shopping for a belt and shoes for my wedding and she couldn't have been nicer. She was also very patient with us as we shopped around trying to make a decision. At the end of our purchase she asked if she could give my fiance and I a hug and wished us luck. In a personal way she was sweet and kind. In a professional sense she provided excellent customer care. Look for her if you want to experience excellent customer care. Unfortunately, not all employees are like her. Enter Sandra in the male suit/tie department. I was in a hurry one afternoon and was looking for suspenders. I had seen them on the mannequin on a previous trip and decided I wanted 3 pair. Came back and could not locate the color I wanted. So I got In line at the register by the suit/tie dept. to check if they had them in stock. After a long wait I finally get to Sandra. I tell her I'm interested in purchasing these suspenders in a blue color. Without saying a word she begins to enter information on her computer. "Sorry we don't have them". To which I reply, how about another macys? Without checking her computer she states "no, we don't carry them in blue. Just whatever is over there". Proceeds to ignore me while talking to a male employee next to her because folding shirts and ignoring customers is more important. Thing is, the fucking mannequin is wearing the damn blue suspenders I want. So don't tell me you don't carry them when I'm looking right at them on display. I wasn't in the mood to make a fuzz. So I walked out, fuck this place I thought. I relayed the story to my fiance and she stated she would stop by herself later in the day since she was in the area. She bypassed the worthless employees in the male suit/tie area (Sandra). And walked over to the shoe department and looked for Angel once again since she had been so nice and helpful before. Guess what, after actually providing some customer service she found the blue suspenders I wanted. Amazing what doing your job can actually result in. Unfortunately most employees here lack customer care, interest in what they do and common customer service. Macy's, please promote Angel and have her run a seminar on how to be polite and provide adequate care to customers. Make sure Sandra is sitting at the front of the class. read more

I have visited the counter multiple times, and time and time again,I end up leaving the store angry at myself for even purchasing anything from people that have such poor customer service,you can totally see it in there face, they dont want to be bothered, and want to hurry up and charge you, so you can leave.Unfortunately this is the closest to me, but i seriously need to just travel a bit more for a much better making-up buying experience...and for the record , it's the same girl all the time i go there, so not sure how the other girls are, but they need some customer service training REAL BAD!! ....They should get some tips from the Mac counter across the way.....They are really nice.... read more

thought that i was the only one feeling this way about Macys at Lakewood LOL Unfortunately this is not my favorite Macys too like some of the reviewers mentioned. Their customer service is not so great here. And i hope you don't experience that. Well.. even though i had a bad experienced, i did have other good experience like at the mac counter. So far each visits the sale associates there has been professional, courteous and friendly. I can't say the same for the other sales associates at the other counters, they can come off being rude especially when it comes to returns. They always say no refunds only store credit. Even though Macys website says free returns. You might want to shop at another macys save you the trip of going here and your time of disputing your returns. Take care and happy shopping. read more

Ever since this Macy's switched its location to the old Robinson's-May, the service and quality of the store has gone downhill. This past week, my mom and I went to do some browse-shopping. After browsing for a little bit, we decided to head to the cash register and pay for our items. "Hmm, only two other people in line," I thought, "This shouldn't take long." Boy was I wrong! As an afterthought, during the whole time I was in the store, I was never greeted by an associate. Then, when my mom and I finally got up to the register to be rung up, we didn't get so much as a "Sorry, for the wait" from the associate. In my brief stint in retail, I knew to have the courtesy to do at least that. So my mom and I waited THIRTY MINUTES (ok, maybe I am overexaggerating, but it was well over 15 minutes) to be rung up. I don't know where all that patience came from, but we finally got to that register. The associates at this Macy's just suck altogether as a whole. On many occassion, I have noticed that many of them are much too interested in their side conversations to other associates than actually servicing the customers. In addition, for a higher end department store, their associates are quite unprofessional looking. Most associates you encounter are wearing jeans, sometimes even paired with a sweatshirt! What kind of attire is that for associates to wear in a higher end department store? The standards at this Macy's are incredibly low, and there's so much room for improvement. If Cerritos wasn't so far away, I would probably go there more often. But alas, this store is the closest, and they've still got some pretty good deals. read more

Went to Macys in Lakewood to get more Clinique as I was out of products I normally go Cerritos Nordstrom simply because of better customer service. I arrive at the Clinique counter and waited about 10 minutes before someone approached me I explained I think I need my skin checked out and etc. ha the guy simply looked at my skin and told me what I needed. Thank god I knew the product I had previously and went with that again. The perfume associates spray you down and give crazy sales customer service and skin care does not. I'll go with my first mind next time and head over to Nordstrom. You would think these people would revamp the store have an updated look and associates will be happy for your business. read more

When I walk into this Macy's I almost feel like they are trying to hard. The loud pumping music from the cosmetic area just seems to be a bit too loud. Staff is never friendly and I can never seem to find anyone that works there. If you do find someone, I feel like I am making them actually do something and they hate me for it. Macy's "At your service " in Lakewood just isn't working. I have arthritis in my knees and today is the 2nd time I've had to stand in line for 30 minutes. Also the valet parking area is taking up prime parking space. I don't have a handicapped parking placard, so I look for the nearest parking spot. The valet parking should be moved. read more

This review is for the Women's dress department. My wife was looking for a dress to wear at our daughter's wedding. She had found one on-line. It was not available at any store. We went there anyway in hope of finding something similar. The selection there was really bad. There were old frumpy dresses that looked they had been returned many times. When we looked for someone to help us, we walked the entire floor and no one was to be found. To their credit, when we did find someone, they were very nice and very helpful. As it runs out, the dress she saw on-line was not available at all. So they list these thing on-line even though you cannot actually get it. Fail! I don't think we'll be back. read more

This is for Alicia. Super awesome sales associate/ cashier. I ordered an umbrella for a prenuptial photoshoot (pre-wedding photoshoot) online for pick up. I was waiting for the email to confirm that it was ready for pick up but it was getting too late, so my fiancé and I decided to just go to Macy's to follow-up. Alicia was the one who helped us. She actually told me that pick up orders cannot be finished processing - in other words, are not ready for pick up - if made at a certain time. That being said, I would've never received a "ready for pick" confirmation until maybe the next day or two! See, I wish I knew this prior to ordering online for pick up. If I knew it would have been faster to just go to the store to purchase it in person, I would've. Anyway. Alicia helped us and was able to speak to the Manager. She was able to not only let us get the item without any issues or further steps but she also looked very hard for it. In her position, I'm sure anyone can get a little frustrated and bothered especially during the busy holiday season. If she did, she didn't show it one bit. She smiled and still had perfect customer service. It's not often that you see employees who go beyond for their customers. I truly appreciate that she did. I came in to buy a perfume and there is some people that act like they don't care about the customer. Luckily, I was assisted by Rita, she is a great employee, very customer service oriented. Catherine in Men's Fragrances was very helpful in assisting me choose a new cologne. She was hilarious, honest, & has awesome customer service skills, she also made sure I was sniffing the coffee grounds so I wouldn't pass out from smelling all the different scents she showed me lol. Even though I am the most indecisive person ever, Catherine bared with me & pretty much narrowed it down to 2 fragrances so when I return I could hopefully make a decision lol.
