Wanted a 14k solid gold chain during their Feb 2026 sale. The rep was informed at least 5 times and/or asked if the chains I was interested in were solid gold. I even told him I had to unfreeze my credit before making the purchase. If I opened a new Macy's account, I would get an additional discount. Had the chain held. Fast forward-I returned 2 days later and made the purchase. Three days later, decided to have a reputable jewelry store assess the chain since it felt light. It was Hollow! When I brought the chain back, the rep told me immediately the only 14k solid chains were in the men's section; she apologized for the situation. I found myself at this Macy's location after my airlines "misplaced" my luggage and I couldn't have been more frustrated with the customer service or the conditions of the men's department. I once was a fan of Macy's and I carry a Macy's card with me for the time being, but this department store location has me rethinking my loyalty going forward. The men's department was a mess with clothing scattered on the floor, others sitting in piles and no one around to offer any assistance or to straighten up. The customer service at checkout was painfully slow and the clerk appeared over-whelmed and disconnected from the process making the over-all experience very frustrating. I've about had it with the sales promotions which exclude the most popular brands and the double barcode stickering process which is confusing and ridiculous. I also noticed that Macy's had been charging my account a four dollar monthly fee for carrying a zero balance I think their entire business model is skewed and it's just a matter of time before they close up shop. This experience tonight has me seriously considering shredding my card and deleting the app so I'm completely disconnected from this dysfunctional company. read more

I ordered a pots and pans set as a Christmas Gift from this location and requested that it be sent to my home address. When the package arrived today (I was there when it was delivered) it was completely ripped open! The box, the plastic bag they covered it in. I mean this was just absolutely unacceptable!!! I paid well over $160 plus tax for this set and this is how Macy's treats their customers. I'm furious with the entire company and will NEVER be shopping at Macy's again. I cannot believe that just because my product came in a box they didn't bother to wrap it properly and had it exposed for all of my neighbors to see. I can truly say that Macy's ruined my Christmas. We bought a mattress in February and then COVID hit and everything closed. We could not contact the store to try to return our mattress. Many voicemails went un returned due to our sales associate being furloughed. We were not given any other numbers to call when we bought the mattress. Finally stores reopen and we called. They gave us a 1800 number to call. We were told our trial period ended the day before and we were out of luck. This is very poor customer service during a pandemic. Today I received my heart pendant, it's custom made blown glass with my moms ashes. I needed a silver necklace to put it on & decided to check out Macy's. They were having a great sale and I got the perfect necklace $200 for $60!! Even better was the sales rep. I wish I for her name, but she was a lovely Asian woman. I told her what I needed the necklace for & she was so compassionate! She said she was sorry for my loss & she would help me pick out the perfect necklace, which she indeed did! I went to Macy's to order a bedroom set because I wanted something well made and beautiful. I am 26 years old and have had it with flimsy Ikea and other cheap furniture. I wanted a set that would last for 20+ years and look good along the way. I knew what I wanted to spend and shopped accordingly. I went to the store in early July to get an estimate and an idea of the buying process and delivery. I was having some rennovations done in July so couldn't really buy right away--but I wanted to know ball-park how much $$ we were talking about. The sales woman was very nice and very professional--I really felt like she knew what she was talking about when it came to furniture and mattresses. I had to take one star off though because when I went in for the stimate, I told the sales-person exactly when I wanted to buy the furniture (end of July) so she got out a calendar to see what sales would be available and gave me an estimate. I am aware an estimate is just that--an estimate, however when I went back at the end of the month--the actual price was roughly $500 over the figure we had discussed. When I mentioned this she said something along the lines of "yeah that was then, this is now, sales change" well yeah...thats why you looked in the sale calendar originally!! So that was annoying, but I went ahead with the sale and was very pleased with my purchase--which was a king bed, king mattress/boxspring, dresser and 2 nightstands. I highly recommend the "Worry no More" warranty, I've already used mine--got an accidental stain on the mattress, the claims process was relatively simple and they sent someone out in a reasonable amount of time and she was friendly. The delivery process was smooth and the gentlemen were very nice and cleaned up after. Overall I am very happy with my new furniture!! I love, love, love it!! read more

I was really disappointed with my experience at Macy's yesterday. I came in needing to purchase a tuxedo for a fundraiser that I'm attending coming up, and once I located the men's suits section, I noticed an associate checking out another customer. I browsed as I waited for her to finish their business, and the next time I looked up, she had moved on to a different part of the store. My friend and I kept browsing, and hoping that either we would find something or someone to help us. There was only one other associate in an adjacent menswear section, and the poor guy was busy checking out other customers the whole time. There was no one to be found to assist us. We waited around for about 45 minutes... I ended up going across the street to Men's Wearhouse, which I was trying to avoid. As soon as I walked into that store, though, I had someone talking to me and finding out what I wanted. I was fitted in no time and walked out very happy over there. I've shopped at other Macy's locations for suits and dress clothes and had a great experience. This store, though, seemed really understaffed, and unable to serve their customers. If you need a personalized shopping experience, this is probably not the place. read more

I recently went to Macy's specifically to buy a pencil eyeliner from Estee Lauder and found it difficult to find a salesperson to assist me. When I did, she was not made up with any product herself, which had me wondering: Does she even like the makeup she's selling? Does she know how to apply it? Is she familiar with the promotions and packages? I'm no beauty by any stretch, but that's why I wear a little make up to be presentable...:-) Anyway, when I did get her attention and told her what I was looking for (which was not in any of the display cases) she advised me flatly to "Come over here"...Huh? Why is she ordering me around? Why would she not bring it to me? I had been using a drugstore liner for a bit and asked her if she could show me how she would apply Estee's for a better look. Mistake. She obviously hadn't been trained and the result was uneven, thick in some places and missing in others. Yikes! Gone are the days when a skilled cosmetologist gives you a tutorial that's worth paying the extra markup for the extra service. Also, I asked for a pencil that I could sharpen not twist to access. It was expensive ($25!) and I left rather nonplussed. Once home, I discovered that the pencil didn't fit the standard sharpener I owned, which the old Estee's always did. Discouraged, because the liner was creamy and the casing was quite hard plastic, I returned to the store the next day to acquire a sharpener, thinking that for $25 it should have been included, especially because it wore away so quickly. The darn sharpener was an additional $10!!! That's $35 plus tax for ONE eye liner and rather poor service. For one thing, the saleslady could have asked if I'd like a sharpener at the time of the original purchase. For another, she defended the crazy price stating that the $10, 1" square plastic sharpener was "Very well made". OK, but just for comparison, these new little hand/fidget spinners with moving parts in all shapes, sizes, colors, designs and even light-up features go for about $5 or less....Just sayin'....Furthermore, the sharpener ISN'T SHARP and one has to press firmly to remove the encasement. The result is a dull gray-black knob with jagged plastic bits surrounding it that jab your eyelid. Needless to say, I'm sticking with my drugstore brand from now on! , read more

I have 2 reviews for Macy's here they go: 1. Johnny during Thanksgiving was excellent and couldn't asks for better. He has speed, charisma and has chilvery. He helped to carry all of my packages to the register since there's no shopping carts. 2. After bringing all of my packages to the car and I heading to the Lancome counter. There I was greeted with a fabulous inviting smile and her name is Eve. Not only did she give me a relaxing makeover she also gave me a skin analysis, wrote down the products she used on me and also helped me save money by opening a Macy's card. The Macy's Estee Lauder department is simply terrible. They never have what I want. I always need to order it. She is always trying to upscale which I can't stand. The sales clerk says it is my fault that I did not come in earlier during their promotion to get what I want. I spent $165 and went home without my product and she wasn't sure when the cream will arrive. This lack of service is in acceptable. In the past the sales clerks would call me during promotion time to secure my orders and I would tell them when I could pick it up. That was customer service. This is the last time I will order or go to Macy's. read more

The five stars is for the backstage outlet located on the lower level of Macy's. The customer service there is excellent. I have been a few times since they opened and yesterday I was greeted several times by employees asking if I needed help. They were very friendly. They have everything from shoes to home goods at discounted prices. I highly recommend checking it out. read more

I had recently bought a couch on August 18th from the home department at the Macy's store in Manchester, CT. I had just moved in to an apartment with no furniture and bought the couch thinking it would come in 6-8 weeks like promised. Earlier in the week of October 12th, I got a call from the sales rep saying that the couch would be in October 12th. Later that week I called the department store inquiring about a delivery time, and left my number with another sales representative. I was never called back, so i called and left my name and number again, but was not called back yet again. Finally on October 12th, i called the store again and spoke with the sales rep who sold me the couch, who said that October 12th was the date the couch was delivered to the warehouse and that from there it would take a few weeks to get delivered. A week and a half passed and I did not hear about my couch from anyone and upset, called customer service. The lady I spoke with from Customer Service said that the couch was back ordered and would be arriving Nov. 16th (which no one from the department store had called and told me or updated me on). On Sat. morning of Nov. 16th I called the department store, since I still had not been updated on my order. The Sales rep who sold me the couch said she was busy and would call me back, hesitant, I asked how long it would be before she could call me back (since not ONCE did someone ever call me back from that store) and she said to give her 15-20 minutes. 1.5 hours went by and I did not get a call back, so I called the store again and spoke with her. She said she was busy and didn't get a chance to call me back. I inquired about my couch and she said she didn't know and she would call the manufacturer for me. She said that my couch would be leaving the manufacturer Nov, 16 and it would take 5-7 business days to come in. She was very rude and kept saying that there was nothing she could do about it. I expressed my frustrations were not only with the delay of my order but also her lack of communication and advocacy for her customer. I asked to speak with the manager and she said he was not in at that time but she would leave my number with him and he would call me that afternoon. I never received a call Nov. 16, or Nov 17th, so I called back Monday Nov 18th to speak with the manager. This time I got another sales rep who said the manager was not in today and that he was unsure of when he would be in next but he could take down my number and give it to him. I explained that no one had ever called me back and he promised he would get another manager on at that time to call me. The manager of the kids department called me shortly after and was very nice but obviously couldn't help me since it was not her department. She assured me that she would give my number to the manager and that he would be in Tuesday Nov 19th at 1pm-until close. Tuesday came and I never recieved a call, so I called the store again at 945pm. I spoke with the same sales rep as the day before and he said he had just saw the manager and he would have him call me. The manager of the Manchester, CT furniature department called me finally that night at 10pm. He listened to my story and said he would be taking over my order from here on out. He said he would give me a 150$ giftcard to Macy's for the inconvience and he would call me back on Wednesday Nov 20th to update me after speaking with the manufacturer. The manager did call me back on Wednesday to tell me that my couch had arrived and that he would contact me later in the week and the latest my couch would be delivered to my house would be Tuesday Nov 26th. I did not hear from the manager again and called Monday 11/25 leaving my name and number and inquiring about my order and delivery. No one called me back, so I called again today Tuesday 11/26 and left another message, in which no one has called me back still. At this time I called customer service who had told me the couch had arrived but takes 10 days to be checked in and then a week from there to set up for delivery. At this point in time, I am leaning towards cancelling my order because of the horrible customer service and because I have cancelled countless parties, and now will not have a place for my family to sit as I am hosting Thanksgiving. I am a young buyer who would be purchasing much more furniture in the future, but I will assure you I will never order from Macy's again. Might I tell you.. I still have no couch!! read more

Saw two employees talking to one another so I asked and was told no one at that register?! Ridiculous. Finally found someone in sock department. One should not have to search for an associate. My Macy's experience today........ 20 min wait with no assistance...... 10 minutes with an associate that I found in another department that had 0 knowledge in the dinnerware Dept........... another 1/2 hour waiting for someone to show up......... employee walked by and said ,"hi" but continued walking away......... I overheard her comment to the attempted helpful girl, "it's not my fault we don't have enough people!".......... I left the store shortly afterward. On my way home, I proceed to call a manager to complain about their customer service and guess who answers??????? Yup, the lady that walked by and made the rude comment to the other lady and didn't even offer to assist! Well, I bet that complaint doesn't get very far!!! I hate the manchester macy's for so many reasons. No selection as far as men's clothing goes. Fragrance department people are extremely impolite and they treat you like a shit. An old lady working on the fragrance counter is so rude that an another lady was showing me a perfume when I was looking for a new fragrance and this lady came there and said believe me she is not here to buy it. I felt so insulted as it was my second time there and I bought a perfume when I visited last time. There is a huge Indian community around the buckland mall area and these people treat every indian like a shit. I was really angry with her behavior as I thought of writing a review. Whether I have the purchasing power or not is not their concern. If i want to buy I will buy and if I do not I won't. Who the hell are these people to judge me and say that I am sure she is not here to buy. I also have bad experience with bobbi brown where I had taken an appointment for a makeover. I am a makeup artist myself who like experimenting and trying new products. I was there on time for my appointment at 12 and the lady on the counter was busy with another client. She just asked me to come back after 45 minutes. I do not appreciate it either when I have and appointment. I had a great experience with lancome counter though. The african american salesgirl was beautiful and extremely polite and she did a great job explaining the product to me. She was not at all pushy. read more

And upon speaking to the store manager she said she couldn't do anything and to contact my financial institution! Get your stuff straightened out Macy's.. I generally order online and then return in the store if I need to. My experience in this store is solely from making returns, and I've found that it's been hit or miss. My first experience returning was perfect, I was in and out of the store in five minutes and it was a quick and easy stop. The second time I brought my online purchase--a dress and a pair of boots--into the store. I was told I was in the wrong Macy's and needed to go to the other one where the women's clothing was located. I trekked across half the mall to get to their other store and went to the nearest counter, where I was told that shoes need to be returned in the shoe department. I then went to the shoe department, where they made me wait for 10 min and then told me they could process the shoe return, but I would need to go elsewhere to return my dress. I explained how tedious my returns experience had been, and the employee was nice enough to process the return for my dress too. And then I had to walk clear across to the other end of the mall where I had parked my car. It probably took me 40 minutes in total to return two items, when in reality it should have been a quick stop spending 10 min at the most. To add to the poor experience, half of the employees I interacted with at the checkout counters were utterly unsympathetic. One of them even brazenly told me that I needed to return the item at the other store because otherwise they would have to walk it across the mall. (It's okay if I have to do it, but it's not okay for you to do it as part of your job...?) Macy's, is there a reason your departments are in such ridiculous silos? There's no reason a customer should have to walk to the specific store (let alone the specific department) to process a return that was made at Macys.com, especially if there's nothing that mentions this in your policy. - - - - - EDIT: Within a couple hours of posting this review, I received the following awesome message from a fellow Yelper, Bruce M: "I am an associate at Macy's WestFarms, assigned to the furniture/mattress/area rug department. But I've also been a sales manager in my building. I can therefore speak from strength. You were met by lazy associates. Most any item can be returned at any register. You are not required to return to the department in which the item belongs to actuate a return. An EXCHANGE would be handled in that department as, of course, the merchandise you want is there. But a return for credit...no...ANY ASSOCIATE, including a furniture associate, can handle it. I'm sorry this happened to you. Please keep my name and allow me to help with anything you might need at Macy's. Granted, I'm in Farmington, but I'm glad to help. I hate going to Macy's the only reason I will even go through their store is to either go to the MAC counter, carters section (employees are so nice there BTW every time), or to get to the mall area. Their selection is ok and prices are high compared to other stores.. There have been two occasions when I have gone in hopes of getting perfume and both times, and it feels so cliche to say this, but I felt racially profiled. The first time a women got mad at me for spraying the tester strips and said she rather not have me touch the merchandice that she would do it for me. And handed me exactly one strip and held the rest till I left.. Meanwhile two I guess fairer skin women that looked Caucasian, and I presume she thought they were too, go right after me and do the same as me and even grab a few strips right in front of her without even a complaint out of her just a "hi" and "yes it smells amazing" The second time months later we went to another counter to smell the new Taylor swift perfume that had come out and a older woman came up and asked if I needed any help.. I said no not yet but thank you then she continued just staring at me anyway.. Like a obvious staredown.. I would have thought maybe she wanted to have a staring contest with me or something because I swear she didn't even blink! When someone else asked for help a few seconds later interrupting her and possibly causing her to blink finally, she instead called for backup to help them so she could I guess continue to make sure I wasn't stealing.. At this point I got angry and decided to calmly leave before I could give her a piece of my mind and show her that in fact I had money and was not apparently so beneath her that I couldn't shop there and had to result to steal tester perfumes.. This right here is exactly why you guys are not making sales and your stores are closing here in CT. I came in both times with CASH ready to spend in your store and even get the full kits with lotions body spray etc. and your employees behavior cost you a huge sale both times. Now I go to marshalls or tjmax better deals, selection, and better customer service. And I try to not even go to their MAC area because in refuse to give them my money. read more

Seeing as though Macy's is the best store at Buckland they jack the prices up. However in West Farms mall Macy's is the worst store they have so you can get some pretty good discounts over there. I was shopping a new Casio watch. The first day i was there, i stood where the section was for 15 minutes without anybody coming over to assist me. They were helping others at the opposite end, so it was ok. The next day, same thing, 10 minutes wait standing at the same spot... nothing. The third day, i stood there for 5 minutes then i turned around and there was an employee pacing behind me. I asked if i could see 2 of the watches to decide. During the whole time, she never actually thought i would actually purchase it because she only answer the questions i asked and never smile at me. During the whole thing, she would put back 1 of the watches even though i was trying to compare the 2. 2 others customers came over to her and the fist thing she did was smile and talk in a very friendly manner. They were both dressed very nice and i was in flip flops and short. In summery, dress nice if you want customer service here. I ended up going online to order the watch for the same price and paid extra for overnight shipping rather than dealing with them. read more

I went to Macy's with my 78 husband to buy a recliner, he has difficult to get around, waited a long time for a wheelchair, the white glove delivery is over rated, payed around 90 dollars for the recliner for delivery, they backed up on the front and damaged my lawn, agreed on 150.00 for the damage, customer service is a very long wait, on the beginning of August told me the check was in the mail, by the end of August called and they said the check was not even sent, after several calls and long wait, still no check, today September 18 after long wait told me the check was send today, if I do not get it my next move will be the better business bureau, I EXPECTED BETTER FROM MACY'S will never buy furniture from them, bad customer service read more

This is a wonderful location!!!! I had bought a gift card as a gift and unfortunately I had not gotten it when I bought it nor the receipt. But I brought in a bank statement showing it was bought and I talked with a manager and she went through a process finally ending up a the register going through the transactions and we found mine and she was able to give me another gift card making me a very happy customer! Bought the whole Astro furniture collection. When it was delevered, the wrong color on the ottoman and the recliner. No worries, swap was scheduled before the delivery people were at the end of my street. Swap comes and it is wrong again. They bring the same ottoman but a different style chair. They tell me that because I did not call and "re-order" I will keep getting the wrong items. Why do I need to fix their issue? It is correct on the order sheet - put it in the truck correctly. I called Macy's and after being transfered twice speak with a lovely lady that tells me that because the order was just delivered the status is such that she can not edit it. She assures me that she will order the correct items with a "VIP" inspection on the truck and will call me back Monday...for sure she will, it now Tuesday. I have not heard from anyone, surprise surprise. read more
