I wander in here sometimes when I visit the Westfarms mall. It's usually only nice to look at, but too expensive to buy kinda thing, but we came after new years and they were having some great sales. Looks like they were trying to get rid of their summer clothes which is perfect for me being that when I fly back to Orlando I'll probably be able to wear it immediately. I got a great deal on a lace dress and a very elegant beige jacket. You can feel the quality of the fabric, the fine stitching and lining, all that stuff makes a difference. Nordstrom used to be known for their service, always friendly and kind. I'm not sure if it's just this store or what but walking through the makeup/fragrance area had me wondering if I was too average looking to be there. Seemed like some of the women were sizing me up, maybe looking at my clothes or shoes or something then gave me the subtle eye roll. I don't know I'm just wearing leggings and sneakers but apparently I should be ashamed of myself for coming out like this. Or maybe it was something else entirely, I don't know but I'll skip the makeup area next time, especially the MAC counter, I don't need the added stress of walking away thinking something is wrong with me. Somehow I made it to age 40 without ever shopping at Nordstrom. But it's lovely! I needed to kill some time while the Apple Store was fixing my phone. I went in here and decided to buy some clothes for work. It's like going back to an era when clothes shopping was more pleasant-- the sales clerk (Sheree) took my items to the fitting room for me, and then was waiting to ring me up afterward. All the clothing was high quality. The displays don't crowd you, like in other stores; the area is very spacious and calm. Background music is gentle. A VERY pleasant place to shop. My husband likes clothes, so I've told him he needs to try it out. read more

I do not shop here often, as I am more of an online shopper. Today we came by to just get a few new things for my upcoming trip. The staff here is very welcoming and friendly, store is well organized. One thing that does bother me is the smell of rubber by the escalators. Goodness...So I am visiting the area however I am not new to retail and especially the USUALLY good service from Nordstrom in general. Today was a huge disappointment. I was going to do a little bit of Christmas shopping so I stopped by mens. I did my usual lap to see if I could find anything. Nope. so I asked a nice lady folding clothes..Do you have Brax? We do bit they are on their way out. time for the new product. but said with such disgust and then after her comments offered to order them...WHAT!!?? Who does that... mind you. if they had them I was planning on buying 4 pair. oh well. if they dont have them but why discourage a potential buyer? Next was to see the Travis Mathew shirts. the assortment on the east coast is usually a bit underwhelming but no biggy. I took a break from clothing and decided to stop by fragrances. I needed to buy 2 Tom Ford sets. when I say it was a ghost town is am understatement. I did two laps and even took a nice picture. It was super clean though I would give them that. Other than not getting any service I decided to smell the SOLEIL Neige it smells soo good. however their sample was empty...just like the department. I walked the mall a little bit then came back to fragrances..still dead. then walked back over to Clothing and looked at Peter Millar. at this point I was just fed up and left. Service was lacking, thankfully I was just here tonight otherwise I would hate having to experience this service on a regular basis. My Express jeans from last season are nice. I went to get another pair. Same fit, same size - one year later...couldn't get them past my knee. One size up barely fit. Uncomfortable, annoying. There is no sign to tell you "hey, our shit just got way smaller." GAH. I used to think spending $150 on a pair of jeans was crazy, but now...not so much. THIS is why you go to Nordstrom, especially this one. Everything is very nicely spaced out, so you can see it all. There aren't 100 identical polo shirts exploding off the rack in every size imaginable, just a few of each, with plenty in the back. The dressing rooms are huge, with couches and elevated mirrored areas to view your selections from every angle. The salespeople actually know what they are talking about, and treat you like a client, not an annoyance. They are not busy with headsets unlocking dressing room doors, counting your items, restocking and refolding shirts and pants every 16 seconds. This is where the customer service comes in - and the main reason for the five stars. I wanted a few shirts and a pair of jeans, and I asked them what brands I should consider for a guy that likes a slim dress shirt that doesn't render my arms immobile and jeans that can accommodate an athletic thigh. I didn't have to try on 77 pairs to find out what fit and what didn't, getting sweaty and frustrated. I was pointed directly to a brand I've never heard of (AG) and these jeans perfectly, and will continue to do so if I decide to purchase some in the coming months, as most brands this expensive don't conform to the trends that other retailers do. Complemented with a few shirts, I was completely set in 20 minutes. The salespeople hung out with me the whole time, and stayed in the dressing room, bringing in other suggestions and other opinions depending on what I liked and did not like. Once you graduate from American Eagle, Express, etc. (for the most part, at least) - Nordstrom provides an experience that makes shopping (especially when trying new brands) quite enjoyable. Prices may be higher, but you are getting higher quality items and excellent service - but there are deals to be had, just depending on your timing. read more

I am accustomed to Nordstrom locations in San Francisco and Los Angeles. My experience thus far has been that the service I received in those cities is not the same as what we get in CT. In SF and LA people go out of their way to make customers happy and accommodate reasonable requests whereas in CT staff seem to be more inclined to say no first. I have shopped in Westfarms Nordstrom since it opened (way back like 20? years ago)....normally I would be inclined to give them a good rating. Not so Today. I arrived there this morning and they had many areas throughout the store sectioned off with yellow tape "special sale areas" and only a certain level of customer was allowed inside the tape to shop. For instance there was different levels based on different criteria of the customer: for instance Nordstrom credit card... your shopping history (whatever that means) ? etc.... I've never gotten a Nordstroms credit card because I don't want to have a credit card..... but I have always shopped there using cash or my bank card. Today when the gentleman helping me in shoes looked me up in the system.....I was told I fall at a lower level And I would be allowed to shop Inside the yellow tape in a few days ...Saturday to be exact. I'm just not understanding with the world as it is today... why we have to find more ways to "tier" people.... even in our department stores...... (some might even call it a form of discrimination ......Probably good for me to experience) Super disappointed with the Nordstrom atmosphere today.... I don't even think just take the belt back. Custom fitted Bras. Ahhhhhh, finally one that fits perfectly! Women, did you know that more than 85% of women wear the wrong sized bra? The Bra Maven took good care of me, and it was no extra cost to have such a wonderful service! Someone actually measures you properly, leaves u in the fitting room (nicely outfitted with comfy chairs) and brings you as many bras as you want until you find the perfect one! They even have larger cup sizes than normal stores, so that was awesome!....and no, not gonna tell ya (sorry fellas) what cup size, but let's just say they no longer 'runneth over'..... LOL.... (Girls, I will tell you more in detail if u wish)........ Anyway, I highly recommend that you treat yourself (this was an Xmas treat given to me that I just got to cash in, thank you Santa Claus!)....and what a treat it was! It was also a very quick process as well, so do not worry that you will be there all day! You could almost say I had a much 'perkier' afternoon after I went! (and i promptly threw away the bra I had worn there! I actually told her to burn the damn thing, I never wanted to see it again!!!) haha :oP Run out now and get yourself properly fitted! As other reviewers have stated, the sales people here aren't the best. The quality of the people that work here has gone down tremendously over the years. Nordstrom has been one of my favorite department stores, but I don't think I'll ever come back to this location after my last visit. I went to the purse section because I had been told by other people that they could repair my bag since the zipper was broken. (And I was considering buying a new bag while I was there too haha) I would say I was greeted but it was more like the lady was annoyed I was there. I mentioned my bag and she right off the bat was so rude to me and basically saying no we won't repair it. Ummm wait, I know for a fact you're lying. She then retracts her statement and says they can send it out but I'd have to pay. Obviously you idiot I wasn't expecting it for free. A whopping $14. At this point she was so rude and annoying that I just wanted to leave...which is what I did. Side note, considering this woman is working in fashion I'd say she definitely needs to change her wardrobe as my mother dresses better than her. And this lady was too old to be working this area anyway. Your loss boo, you missed out on me buying a Marc Jacobs bag and those don't come cheap. read more

If you live in the Connecticut shoreline area, please by all means drive the extra 45 minutes to the Paramus Nordstrom, their selection outweighs this dump. The staff here are rude and act like you are getting in their way when you are trying to shop here. Apparently the people of Hartford let it go to their heads that they work at Nordstrom. I had a horrible experience with a rude ethnic man in mens accessories a few months ago and I refuse to step foot in the store. The store manager was less than appathetic. Very rude and cold just like the rest of the staff here. Again, this is the worst Nordstrom I've ever stepped foot into, and I will not spend another dime here. The service here could be a little bit friendlier I think. However , since I wasn't actually buying anything in here today anyways it doesn't matter too much I suppose. But still there should at least be more of an effort to greet each customer whenever they are entering any department. You never know who's going to drop $2000 on a designer purse, or whose just browsing and not even going to spend 2 cents in there, like me today! 9lol) Like I said, even though I wasn't actually buying anything and just looking, the salespeople should still greet everybody. You never know who might actually be looking to spend lots of money. As for the store environment itself, it is immaculate!! Obviously, being a high end store like Nordstrom's you would expect everything to be very neat and orderly. But I have to say on a 1-10 scale, there level of cleanliness is at LEAT an 11!! That is definitely there strong suit there, cleanliness and alos how they display there merchandise. Everything looks so chic and fashionable in there, it makes you wish you were some of those size (negative) 2 manequins themselves, lol!! The store itself overall is certainly very nice and classey in my opinion. If you're a Nordstrom fan then you can't go wrong here no matter what you're looking for! Not sure if it's me or Nordstrom but their men's clothes just don't do it for me anymore! Everything is either too stuffy (I don't have a yacht) or too young (I'm not skinny or a hipster) for my taste. And I've had an awful experience in the kid's shoe department but it's still my hometown store so it has a special place in my heart. I always use the upper parking lot & use the bathroom by the cafe as soon as I make it inside. They have a small but well curated home goods selection in this area where I always find something I want to bring home. Customer service is always pretty good as most Nordstroms are with a few exceptions over the years. Love their jewelry & shoe selections. All the other reviewers saying that this Nordstrom is nothing compared to others has me a bit curious. Honestly this has skewed my perspective a little (for the worst) since this is the only Nordstrom I've been too. I've ignored all of the little "indignities" at this place because I love it so.. But I totally agree with the complaints of others. I will say this is my favorite store. I love the jewelry collections: Alexis Bittar, Ippolita, Kendra Scott, Judith Jack etc. Gorgeous, affordable, not-so-precious jewelry. Love it. Love playing in the cosmetics section. No matter where I'm going in Westfarms I always park at the entrance of Nordstrom that has the cosmetics/perfume. Lots of the high(er)-end unique perfumes can be found here and not in Sephora, so that's a plus as I am a scent-crazed woman. The shoes and purses are fun too. But... The customer service is questionable and unreliable. There's an abundance of reps present, clearly not tending to anyone, yet I have noticed if I'm dressed down w/ children in tow they will not say a word. NOT ONE WORD! Unless of course I began doing what I do, spraying perfume in a frenzy, trying on every last new product and hovering over displays (making a friggin mess of things). They then get annoyed and feel compelled to pretty much ask, "Are you wasting time here playing around? Okay I'll entertain you for a bit. Soooo how 'bout that new Valentinoooo." WTF? Really? It's almost like begging someone to spend your money on them, which is awkward. Yes sometimes I am playing around with makeup, most times though I really would like them to take my money. Why do I have to dress up w/ a beyond exploited Louis Vuitton handbag for no other reason than to go to Nordstrom and have them ask if I need help with anything, or just to get a "Hi", or an unspoken "I see you there..I see that you see me here... I'll be ready for you if you need something.. because this is what I do?!" Pure B.S. Also the clothing selection is majorly lacking. To the gentleman that said it's just empty space, it's true! Wonderful experience with purchasing a gown, and then having alterations done. The seamstress was exceptional! Any cost of having alterations (quite a bit of hemming two layers with beading) was offset by the fact that I received Nordstrom Bucks to use in the future. In the end, cost me nothing. They did not have the gown I wanted in my size, and an exceptionally helpful sales person helped me order from the store. In fact, ordered a couple of sizes, returned the one that did not fit. I'm really glad that there is a Nordstrom within 25 minutes of me. Located in west farms mall it's a convenient location. I mainly come in here for their good selection of jeans and occasionally their evening dresses. They have recently been updating the whole look of the store so the past few months on, it has been a construction zone moving in sections. It looking great. I generally park right by Nordstrom as its one of the stores that have a covered garage section which is great in the summer or during nastier weather. I've noticed more moms have been coming through this store as they have the nicest cleanest restrooms with a nursing/baby changing section that's very convenient. The store has a little lunch spot located towards the south entrance. Nothing great I've eaten here and haven't been impressed. There is a really good selection of shoes for those women who can afford the Louis Vuitton bags so mainly that 150$ and up for bigger brand pumps you can drool over as you make your way towards the mall area. Costumer service has been hit or miss.... Ok mainly not so great like some high end places where either you get really good service and help and other times they look at you up and down and act like you are wasting their time because you had a question or couldn't find something. I get this sometimes in places like this from people who don't know any better. For example I went to the shoe department and I was just browsing... I've told the sales associate that I wasn't ready to buy yet but wanted to try some heels on to see the fit and he was running around back and fort bringing shoes out being super attentive, have offered some great advice and was quick to tell me what he liked and what his Gf said about what heels (Sam Edelman) was the most comfortable. So.... He was great at his job and I bought the pumps. Another time.... Very serious about buying a dress at the St John section. Yes.... That expensive as I had to go to a benefit where labels matter. The older lady looked at me up and down and basically treated me like trash. Told me that clearly this selection was way out of my price range based on what I came in wearing and the fact that I look young. Oh boy was she talking to the wrong person as I had no problem at all purchasing this 700$ dress. ( and I note, I know millionaires who wear boots and jeans, probably have never even heard Of high end brands but will dress up when needed and pay) so needless to say Her incompetence was insulting, she literally walked away from me and refused to help. I drove to MA Saks and bought a more expensive dress for that event. Big loss on nordstroms part. All this aside I've had more positive experiences than negative and selection and location will bring me back as it has for years. Until a new one opens perhaps in Glastonbury. :) read more

I really want to like Nordstroms because I always hear other people saying good things about it. But after visiting it several times, I just fail to see its attraction. I'm mostly talking about its mens dept because I'm a male, so I can't really comment about its women's dept. Maybe its women's dept is completely different. First of all, I don't care for its selection of clothes. I find their men's clothes fall into one of either two categories, of which neither appeals to me. The first category is what I would call the young man's "punk" category where they sell $125 torn beat-up t-shirts and $250 ripped faded designer jeans. Blah. The second category is the "old man's golf" category which carries clothing that probably looks great on gramps at the country club, but it's just not my style. I find very little clothing outside of these two categories. Sure, Nordstroms carries men suits and shoes but I don't shop for those items as often as I do for casual and work clothes. Their shoes aren't bad. So I'll give them a 1-star rating for that. The second thing I don't like about Norstroms is just its sheer quantity of its clothing. For such a large store, it seems like they carry about 1/3 rd the amount of clothing than other department stores like Macy's and Bloomingdales. I always walk in there and think to myself, "where's the rest of the clothing?" It might explain how they're able to maintain their clean, open and airy appearance. I could probably overlook this aspect of the store if they had clothes I wanted to buy, but I rarely see any clothes that I want to buy. Sure, Nordstroms does have high prices (high is probably a relative term), but I'm the type of person that will pay a high price if I really like something and it's unique and of good lasting quality. So as you can tell, I'm not a fan of Nordstroms. I might stop by whenever I visit the Westfarms Mall. I don't go there often. But that's it. For my main daily clothes shopping I'm sticking with my old reliable; The GAP (I'm kidding. I'm kidding about The GAP). * PS. I know, it's "Nordstrom", not "Nordstroms". I enjoy shopping at Nordstrom. The store is beautiful and always so clean! The staff is nice too. Great coffee shop. St. John for Women has a nice selection, the only store in the area that carries this high end brand. Nice fragrance department too. However, they don't carry Chanel, Ferragamo, or Moncler! Also, why did they remove the grand piano on the second floor? I remember shopping at this store when it first opened in 1997. It was such a wonderful experience to have live piped-in piano music! I'm rating this Nordstrom A-OK because I have had some good experiences and some not-so-good experiences there. Good experiences: always in the lingerie department. My size is hard to find, and the ladies in the lingerie department are always pleasant, helpful, and knowledgeable. I have been sized there a couple of times and was impressed with their professionalism. I am sad I moved out of state and can no longer shop with them! Bad experiences: they have some snooty people who work in cosmetics. I actually wrote a letter of bad service to Nordstrom because I was repeatedly ignored at the MAC counter at this location. Luckily WestFarms has a MAC store, so they got my business, which is too bad for Nordstrom because I really would have done all my business there if the cosmetics employees had wanted it. read more

Terrible Experience!! All I can say is I understand why Nordstrom is in financial trouble! Their customer service is terrible! I purchased a few items online as birthday gifts , using my Nordstrom card. The birthday is in a week. Seems like in the year 2020 and Nordstrom being a high end store, one would expect that a week would be plenty of time to receive an ordered item. The item was going to be shipped IN 15 days! I called customer service for help and explained that I would need one of the items expedited and also that I would like to use a $20 note that I had towards my purchase. I was told I could not use my $20 note because they "couldn't find it". Then they said they would be happy to expire shipping. FOR ANOTHER $12! It was a $30 item !!! That's a large percentage of the value of the product..... so after being told that I couldn't use my note and couldn't get expedited shipping at a reasonable cost I asked them to cancel the order. Now that they will happily do!! Then I said well maybe I should cancel my card since it really does me no good to have it. I was transferred to Jenny (JB5) in cardholder services (very rude and condescending)and she was also happy to cancel my card for me! If they were equally as happy to help customers as they are to cancel cards and purchases they might actually have a viable business! PULL IT TOGETHER NORDSTROM!! read more

Very disappointed. My daughter was chosen as the commencement speaker at the University Of Saint Joseph. I wanted to buy her dress and shoes as a gift. She bought her dress at Lord and tailor but she wanted to go to Nordstrom to buy her shoes since she saw them on line. They had her size but it was on display. I asked the Manager if she can sell them to me at a discount and she told me that "" They stand by their qualities and services so there for she was going to order them brand new. When I received the shipment, I couldn't believe what they sent my daughter. Not only were the shoes worn, but they had scratches everywhere. I don't think I can or ever shop there again. read more

I would rather shop on Nordstrom.com than in this Westfarms store, which is smaller than other Nordstrom stores I have been to. I shop the men's department on occasion, although I think the options are as good or better at Stackpole's in downtown Hartford (sorry, Nordstrom, you'd get five stars if it weren't for Stackpole's). Where these guys have the edge is men's dress shirts, luggage and the lotion/potion stuff. Had occasion to visit this week to pick up some Kiehl's products for a gift. They have a decent selection in the store. I don't use lots of this stuff, so I don't have much to go on, but I got excellent service and advice there and found the selection beyond Kiehl's to be pretty good for "guy" stuff. Very disappointed with customer service , especially department supervisor Manny, this is how he introduced himself. Useless and helpless, was not able to resolve an issue with my order, that was supposed to be delivered today, Friday, Dec. 14, but not even been shipped out. Did not expect this from company such Nordstrom , paid for 2 day air shipping, got an e- mail, confirming a delivery date, 12/14/2018, and never got an item. Plus, spent 2 hour in the store, trying to get a refund, and still, 4 hours later, no resolution to the problem. Poorer and unprofessional customer service . read more

I've lovedNordstrom since age 10, literally. I remember wishing I could live in our local Nordstrom, sleeping on the leather magenta button chaise. Getting breakfast at the Ebar, lunching at the bistro, and ending the day with an evening shop. The array of clothes and brands is almost overwhelming in the most underwhelming-exciting way. As you can tell, my adornment for Nordstrom has created a bit of a foggy mind for me: contradicting myself, but hey what can I say, I'm a lover of high end department stores. read more

I like thier selection of clothes. Have always had a good experience here. The sales associates are very friendly and help when I ask. Their customer service is fantastic and wish more stores held their employees to the same standard. read more
