Mom and I love this Macy's since the one near Laguna Woods Village closed! We are so happy it has reopened! Mom wanted a new eyebrow pencil that was simple for her to use. There are many options in the Cosmetics Department. Where does one even begin!? We were so grateful to JUAN CARLOS who immediately offered assistance! He explained the differences between the various options and made a suggestion that sounded perfect! JUAN CARLOS was very kind and patient with my Mom and allowed us time to browse with no pressure. The Shops in Mission Viejo is the closest Macy's to me, but I only go there if absolutely needed (like for an urgent item pick-up). The 2 buildings are not marked by text or by icons & it is hard to guess which entrance to use for what, where you pick up online items & where you return them. It is a good way to get your steps in. You can walk inside through several stores or outside among the cars, as there is no sidewalk. The older, black-haired lady at the Macy's return desk is mean. I very rarely return items, only if they don't fit, always with all tags attached, within a couple of days. Twice she refused a return on a couple of online items, just days after I received them, still in their original bag. There was always some explanation which made no sense, but mostly mumbling like they are only worth 5 cents to Macy's now or something like that. I now drive to Santa Ana Macy's, combining the trip with other errands. The same items that got rejected in Mission Viejo, were accepted in Santa Ana. They were just shaking their heads wondering why I had any problem with returning brand-new, unworn, all tags attached items 3 days after receiving them. At least the Santa Ana Macy's is an "under 1 roof" department store with clear markings on where to go for what. One good thing for the Macy's in Mission Viejo: the "Last Act" items can be fabulous, but I only browse through if I am in the mall for other reasons. read more

He was the only one there and juggled 3 customers at once. We felt like we were his only customer. He just handled everyone like that. We ended up buying a nice suit at a great sale price. This Macy's is an absolute nightmare. The store has a bizarre layout and it feels really small and cramped inside. The men's selection is a little too contemporary and trendy for me, and their sales stuff is just ok. Its not the best. Their colognes are right in the middle of the store next to the escalators, it feels weird smelling perfume with people walking on and off escalators right next to you. It feels very cramped. I don't like it. What really ruins this place is not the small selection, or the staff, but the fact that downstairs there is only ONE Bathroom. I asked the staff where the men's bathroom was and they said "down the hall to the left" and it turns out it was ONE Unisex bathroom for one person at a time. There were 3 women waiting ahead of me in line and I felt like I was stuck at Magic Mountain waiting to ride the roller coaster. Only this time there was no exciting thrill ride at the end of the wait (subjectively speaking). Overall this place isn't that great of a Macy's. read more

The worst customer service ever. I hate Macy's. I hate to compare them to a competitor *cough* nordstroms *cough*, however there's a reason why nordstroms does much better than Macy's. It All comes down to customer service. I came here this last weekend, was on the top floor, looking at getting some new sheets and bedding for the new year. To be honest I have a Macy's gift card that I received for Christmas, and unfortunately I can't get money back from these guys, so I had to find something to spend this damn gift card on LOL. So being stuck, Not caring much for their clothes/shoes/ accessories, I found that I could purchase things for my house instead. Upon coming upstairs, I only saw two employees working upstairs on opposite ends of the floor. The store didn't have a whole lot out, and a lot of stuff seemed picked over. I was having a hard time finding things that would fit my bed (California king), so I wandered around, waiting for an employee to emerge. I had maybe a dozen employees passed me, and when I asked them for their help, they all pond me off to the only person working upstairs who was ringing people up, barded with a massive line of angry women who were also waiting. Ask them if they could help me, their response was "unfortunately I don't work on this floor, but that person can help you." Felt sorry for the guy because he was a one-man band. You can only do so much because he's one person! I've worked retail and I know how it is, The fact that if he called for help, and no one showed up, something is really wrong! This would've have never happened at Nordstroms. If I went in there with a complaint or needed help, even if that person didn't work on the floor they would stop everything to help me. I'm not surprised, because it was released today that Macy's is closing around 60 stores and cutting at least 10,000 jobs. To me this comes as no surprise, and I am fortunately hope that this store closes. Company is clearly all about making money, but does not care about their customers or employees. Came in to exchange a sweater I bought online. Went straight to the section where the sweater was sold and got the one I wanted. I then went to a cash register to exchange it, and heard another woman ask an employee if someone was working the section, she wanted to purchase something, and he said, "I think that someone called in sick, I can call someone though". I thought it was strange, but then I realized he appeared to be a vendor as he rolled a rack of clothes through the section, cause I don't think that fancy pants Macy's allows employees to wear faded jeans and low quality polo shirts. So I decided to walk to another section - no one to be found. Third times a charm, right? Nope! I found 3 employees standing together talking shit about another employee, but none of them could help me to check out. WTH? After searching through the sections of cashmere, spandex, and high quality cotton, I finally made it to the golden cash register, complete with an employee that could work it! *Cue heavenly light, harps and the "ahhhhhhh"* and the lady in front of me is saying, "I just don't understand why it was so hard to find an open cash register...." Although this Macy's is smaller than most, we found more than what we were looking for today. I was very surprised by Macy's customer service. As I walked up to the entrance and saw a sign for online pickups, I thought this might be a reasonable day. Unfortunately, 5 minutes of walking around trying to find the order desk because they had no interior signage, then waiting in line for 10 minutes to be told it is on a different floor, followed by another 15 minutes of an inexperienced clerk handling them has caused me to waste a half hour of my life because of ineptness and mediocrity. Seriously, add another 10 minutes because despite the receipt saying anyone can handlw returns, the online pickup location only returned one item, sent me to the makeup department to return that, then after another 5 minute wait because not enough staff, the redirect me to the specific counter for that particular brand. Luckily, she had nothing to do and returned it promptly....after 40 MINUTES of wasting my life, I was seconds from going postal. Whomever is the corporate person who does store layout, or the manager of that particular store, or the person who fraudulently said putting on your receipts that any salesperson can help you with returns....they all should be fired. This should be a 5-10 minute event max...and people wonder why retail sales are struggling? Macy's at The Shops of Mission Viejo has just lost at least one customer, and if anyone reading this review wants to ask questions, feel free. I don't know why I continue to shop at Macy's but I do. You can never find anyone to ask for help, especially when they decide to have a sale, which is practically all the time. Their pricing is fairly reasonable and their selection is pretty good. The employees are sympathetic and trying to do the best they can, but there are lines everywhere and it takes forever to make a purchase. If it wasn't for the nice sales lady, Macy's deserves a one star. One of these days I hope they figure things out. read more

*This review is strictly for the Men's department* This was our first time at this mall and this Macy's, so it only took us about 30 minutes to finally find the Men's department! I walked just about the whole downstairs level of the mall looking for the Men's department! I finally found it after asking a nice janitor. Walked in and found tons of selections! Clearance selections galore! I will give them credit that this Macy's is much bigger and has a great selection of men's clothes. My mom and I found great discounts on men's shirts! The reason for the one star is the awful male employee who rung us up! -__- I totally felt slighted by him, as we were walking up to the counter he was engaging with some customers who were passing by but he seemed to be talking in a different language with them and when we got up to the counter he did not acknowledge us for a quite awhile and was very abrupt and did not listen to us when we asked for gift receipts. I had to go back to the counter and ask him again for the gift receipts because he did not listen to us and was brushing us off. I wish their was a survey on my receipt because he needs to be reprimanded for his bad customer service. Another reviewer is right! You can never find anyone to help you and have to walk around looking for the service counters which are not marked clearly. When you do find an associate, she is busy stacking clothes, then you walk back all the way to the service desk and find others waiting. HIRE more people!!! Unfortunately the shopping at Macy's Mission Viejo is very stressful. Sales people at cosmetics department specially the Lancome are very aggressive and unfriendly. The counter manager of Lancome, Joe is an unprofessional seller and she and her team are gossiping all the time instead of taking care of customers need. The store managers should spend time and come to the departments to see their behavior and train their employees properly. read more

Today, the flyer with Fashion Jewelry at Macy's caught my eye. One item in particular had been greatly reduced and I convinced my husband - please let me shop for it. We entered the Mission Viejo Macy's around 1 pm - and the most helpful sales person, I think her name was Mila, found the item for me in minutes. She was so pleasant and just made me feel special (like I just bought a lucky charm)-anyway, I floated out of the store, passing very nice dresses, and slacks...for spring. I admit it, shopping can be rough. It's a challenge at times, so you gotta be in the right mood to venture into the land of stopped time and elevator music. But its worth it. I try to put limits on my adventure in retail. Hers the standard rules, two times to a dressing room max, so load up on stuff the first time to make sure the second visit is confirmation on purchases. The other one is a tough one but necessary. Stick to the clearance /sale racks. Its worth it. They have some of those handy dandy scanners around for you to check prices since it is often incorrect and for 8 bucks, the shirt is worth it. I like to get my bedding here too; June is generally the white sales when you can get that delish Ralph Lauren set for less. And why not, I mean bed is a great place to be and it should be honored with the number of hours you spend there. I admit Macys has a pretty good thing going. The staff is for the most part helpful and will find a coupon for you if your kind and patient so you get that little extra off to save for your next dining adventure. read more

This macys is always too busy- the parking structure is always a hassle. If ur looking for a calm macys I'd suggest the one in laguna hills mall- that one is always very clean and calm. When all else fails you can get in'n out burger after. It's on the corner of the mall :) read more

Oh man the customer service in the shoe department is horrible. I'm over shopping at this location. They get an extra star since they are clearly understaffed, but I constantly wait 20-30 minutes just to get asked if I need help. Today when I went in to return something the sales guy questioned if I bought the shoes here since I didn't have a box (your staff couldn't find it) then when I clearly bought them from here (had the return tag and receipt) he said you only get store credit. Okay whatever man, also on a small note maybe a thank you would be better than just saying Bye with a "mean girl" attitude. I think it's funny how Yelp seems to just combine Macy's stores when they're at the same mall. As if the stores should be the same when the ones in Mission Viejo beg to differ. The men's store, while vacant at times, is fairly good. The women's store sucks. Headaches over Men's shoes (Who needs them?). Weak customer service and quality is what I got. I bought a pair of $140 men's shoes. One of the soles started to come off after about a month. I returned them and they did not have my size. The only option I was given was money back or wait a week for replacement. Believing there were more options, I had to suggest (To the Dept. lead) that she see if another store had them. The sales rep reserved me a pair at South Coast Plaza. Great selection in the Men's store and helpful staff. I usually like to shop at Macy's since they have brands I like and aren't too expensive. Got some Levi's in my size and 4 shirts for work. Got some good discounts on the shirts and the register was quick and helpful. I also got a cool Tommy Hilfiger oxford shirt with embroidered skis on them, kind of a cool, preppy look. I don't normally go for shoes, but for Dockers, Levi's, Polo Ralph Lauren clothing, it's great. read more

A smaller store, but they seem to have what you want. What's unusual is that the houseware is in the same building as womens' clothing. They have the typical cosmetics counters like Benefit, Shiseido, Clinique, etc. All associates seem to be very helpful. However, I do feel like their shoe department is lacking in brands and variety. It's an awkward setup in that there seems to be a random area for shoes on the side of the main shoe area. I would not recommend going here to look for shoes. They don't have much. Everything else is fine. I've purchased cosmetics, clothes, appliances, and gifts here. I think what stands out is their customer service. read more

Super unhelpful staff. I'm pregnant and with my elderly grandmother and we could barely get a grunt out of the one counter person that we could find to tell us that the maternity department was downstairs. Not so much as a how to get there. Also- super small maternity section. Fitting rooms are next to a sale rack so the rooms are overflowing with cloths and full. Macy's - How they returned my property - Department Stores Near Me - Mission Viejo, California

Macy's Keystone delivery team... I recently moved into a new house, so furniture was top of the list. Though going to Macy's would be a good idea. Left on our own we were able to wonder around. From previous reviews the comment about no-one available to help is very true, staff talking to each other, probably about where they want to work next and how bothersome and needy some customer can be. Finally we found something we liked, tracked down a member of staff and did the deal. So far so good. Arranged a delivery date and time, all good. Now the day for delivery, made sure I was at home at the allocated time, noticed on my phone I had, had a call. Called back the number but went straight to Voice Mail. Noticed a second number called that and it was Macy's dispatch. They told me the drivers had a problem with the address and needed a cross street. I gave them the cross street but they said to late to deliver as the drivers had already left. I suggested as only 10 minutes had passed, perhaps call the delivery van and turn it around to come back. The lady said as they were driving so they could not answer the phone. Strangely enough I didn't know it was illegal for passengers to answer the phone while the car or van was in motion. Obviously if the drivers can't deliver the furniture, they will have to try and do it again another day, pretty good job retention scheme. Things slow down, call in with a delivery issue and all is good for two days later. Now I have a stick it on the windshield old style GPS and I found the house OK. I also used Google maps and my girlfriend uses Waze and she found it OK. So would be interested to see what Macy's give their drivers? The house was build in 1985 so perhaps they are using old maps? Pre 1985? Obviously not happy with the situation I called the store. The Sales Rep wasn't there, having a day off, probably enjoying all the commission he made. I spoke to a very nice person (who because he was so helpful will remain nameless) but said someone called Nick Torres would call me back, you guessed it, never happened. At the same time I ask for the general managers name, all he would tell me was his name was Michael and he could not tell me any more or transfer me to him. I have to assume due toMacy the mountain of complaints Michael finds it easier to go MIA to his stores customers. You have to admire an organization that runs without anyone taking responsibility and only assume it has a bright future. I think Michael probably sits locked away in his office everyday, laptop turned off, phone off the hook, and ponders how wonderful his life is. Like other review writers my next business will be going elsewhere. Life for Michael might be changing soon and the real world might come as a nasty shock to him. read more

Buyer beware! Will not ever but from this Macy's store again. I went in to look at couches, found one I liked and reserved it. The associate helping said I could call in and order it over the phone if I decided I wanted to purchase it. I called and gave him my credit card information trusting that he was an honest employee and wouldn't take advantage of the situation. It must have been too much for him to resist because Two hours later my credit card company gives me a call about fraudulent charges of $2k at a sporting goods store! I should have trusted my gut but thought Macy's wouldn't hire people who do this. I called the manager who half believed me and said there was no way he could tell me what the fate of this employee. He also questioned how I knew it was the employee and when I told him I never use my card and had only used it twice in the last month both times at Macy's he changed his attitude a little and said he'd "investigate" the situation. I'm so frustrated with this situation and lack of consequences that this employee will face. read more

Macy's is usually the store that I come for high quality clothes. I went to go to return something, on Father's Day, and was met by a long line with only one person working it. I waited a solid half an hour just to return quick pants! Next time they need to call more people to help the customers in the line. I am a huge fan of Macy's for dresses and this location has a very nice layout for the female shopper. The Juniors department is at the bottom floor entrance to the mall, convenient if you've been making rounds at the stores in the mall and just curious if Macy's has anything you'd like. The girls in the Juniors department are very helpful and the area is always very organized and clean. My one fault to this part of the store - a fitting room would be nice! You have to gather your items and trek all the way to intimates if you want to try anything on... boo. Anyway, they have awesome discount coupons, sale items and the quality is usually very good. This store will definitely always be on my checklist when shopping the mall. read more

I found myself on a trip to Houston and forgot my dress sox. Classic! At 9 am I walked over to the Galleria Mall and stopped by Macy's. So my first faux pas was the mall stores open at 10 and not 9 am. So after giving myself a few head slaps I headed to a Starbucks kiosk in the mall to have a coffee and wait it out. At 10 am I walked back to Macy's and it had come to life. After asking a sales person for directions to the men's area (1st floor) and then another salesperson to point me toward the dress socks I arrived. Good selection and I knew what I needed and grabbed them up. The lady who was going to check me out was busy was something but she dropped it all and helped me. Also told me there was a coupon for the sox and applied it to my purchase. This was a quick in and out shopping experience but it all went well and everyone was pleasant and I was able to get what I wanted and speed out. The only funky comment I can make is Macy's was very hot that morning. The Mall proper was comfortable but I started sweating in Macy's. read more

Worst return policy. Purchased a gift from the jewelry department and picked it up on November 30, 2017 for their presale. Guess I should have looked at it better. They say they won't take anything back/exchange without their sticker attached. It's their sticker. The other tag was on it. It's only 9 days later and the manager of the department and salesperson were very unhelpful. Just said sorry and no. Really it was 9 days ago.
