I was in this location for nearly 30 minutes and not one employee acknowledged or offered to help. Store is easy understaffed.

As a male I hate having to go shopping. Applying and removing garments over and over just to find your size horribly irks me. However they have a great selection of neckties, and suits that all run true to size so I don't even bother trying them on and they all fit perfectly when I put them on for the first time for work. I'm not an overly fancy type of guy but no slouch either. Always have a good new cologne as I cycle through one about every 6-7 months. One stop shop for mean who like to look sharp but keep it simple also. read more

This store looks like it should be on their list of closures. For the area in Newport Beach they're in, they really should keep it up better! The bathrooms were filthy and disgusting and looked like it may have had a child changing table at one point but it was ripped from the wall and they didn't choose to replace it or paint over it. I'm not much of a Macys shopper but the one at South Coast Plaza is so much nicer and cleaner. Macys should be ashamed to be anchored at Fashion Island with Neiman's and Bloomingdales. Those stores are beautiful and should be an example for Macys to try a little harder. read more

I thought I was at a department store not a dog park. Four dogs fighting barking, carrying on in the middle of a department store. Really. Dogs are great when they're at home in your house not running around my feet barking while I'm trying to shop. And yes, for all of you people that think I'm a dog hater. I needed a cross body purse for an important business conference this week and a friend recommended I go to Macy's. Originally I was pleased since I found a bag fairly quickly and it met all my requirements. When I arrived home I pulled out my bag to fill it with all my travel items. That's when I noticed the security tag was still on! Ahhhh! Frantic, I called Macy's right away and this is a run down of the next 30 mins of my life: 949-640-8333 Listen to a ton of prompts, not a person, even though there is a recording that tells you your time is important to them. I click the appropriate numbers for the handbag counter and I wait...and wait...and wait. No one available. Let's try this again. How about instead of all handbags, I click on Coach...and wait...and wait, there are other handbag extension...you get the idea. I then pushed '0' for the operator which starts as a recording then only changes to a person when you don't directly answer the question you hear. At that point someone with a very strong accent comes on the line and says they will transfer you to the admin office. (Thanks! I already know they're closed!) I try again, knowing the makeup counter is right next to handbags. I tried 1 for Mac, 2 for Clinique, 3 for I think Estée Lauder and 4 for whoever...still NO ONE PICKED UP! Mind you, it's not a quick thing to transfer from 1 extension to another. I've now been on the phone for far too long and I definitely need to go to Target in hopes of getting a handbag for my work trip. There is a reason I didn't choose Target in the first place. I prefer a designer bag for the quality. I'm very disappointed in my experience and very frustrated at the lack of any employee picking up a ringing phone for more than 30 minutes at the entire department store. Other than to return the bag that I can no longer use, I can't imagine I'll be back. read more

When I ask the manager to print out my return slip, she told me that they will send it to my email, but they never did. Will not be going back to this place at all. The only place that had the jacket I want. Drove here from Long Beach since I couldn't split the Happy gift card payment online. The person who helped us didn't know how to punch in a coupon code which she insisted she could only scan. Ended up being a lie. The manager never showed up and we waited for about 15 minutes. They were completely unprofessional in their demeanor and attitude. She eventually found a coupon for me but did not explain why the coupon did not work even though it specifically stated it could be used in stores. read more

I picked out a bunch of sweaters to try on for winter and ended up with a security girl who looked like a guy following me around making me feel so uncomfortable!!!! I am a regular at this store and love the deals. However today my wife took me here to take advantage of the jewelry sale. We waited our turn to be served, which wasn't short. The lady came over to show us some jewelry and we were contemplating a purchase when this white lady rudely interrupted the lady who was helping us and said she was in a hurry and needed to be checked out. So, the Macy's employee stopped helping me with a $5000 transaction to help the white lady with her $40 transaction. I still made the purchase but am completely shocked at the blatant racism. read more

Skin care products or clothing however, imagine my surprise there was no plus size for women's clothing section in this store. Really???? Everyone is a size 2 in Newport Beach? This location BLOWS. It's outdated, a bit smelly, kinda musty, and pretty disheveled. To make matters worse, the customer service is beyond horrendous... we asked a guy to help us out and he simply said, "Um, I'm not good at that. Maybe wait another 15 minutes for another guy to get back." When that "other" dude finally did return back, he was super unhelpful and started pressuring us to just buy something. He also kept wandering off in the middle of answering our questions to talk to some other customers. Basically, it was obvious that he just wanted to make a sale, which is why he kept popping in whenever he thought someone was close to buying something. Dog friendly and located at the Fashion Island, specifically next to Starbucks. I came by this Macy's location with my husband this afternoon. To be honest, my first initially thought of this Macy's is that it is actually a nice store and I may be a bit bold to say this, but I think this is one of the nicest Macy stores that I have been to. Why you ask? I like the layout of the store, as it is pretty easy to find what department is what. I also liked seeing some higher end brand names in this particular location than the one I frequent back home (What can I say? I am such a labels girl... yes unfortunately I am one of those girls). While I was browsing the fragrance section, one employee in particular was so helpful in answering my questions and also gave me a small little vile to take home with me to sample. One thing I do have to somewhat complain about is that the woman's restroom on the 1st floor is only a single toilet. So there seemed to be a line for it each time I passed by it or when I had to use this restroom. Another thing I do want to mention is that the free WiFi was incredibly slow, so don't use it if you really don't have to. But aside from those two things, I had a good shopping visit and would love to shop here again (if only I lived in Orange County again). read more

My son bought a sunglasses as a Christmas gift for his Dad, after one week his Dad back from Hawaii, he found this new sunglasses is broken, my so went there to make an exchange, Sunglasses Department manager charged him another half price for exchange, we thought this is not reasonable, then try to talk with manager, she said my Son didn't have receipt, I told her she can find purchase record because my so use debit card, she refused to do it and said we have bad attitude, call us go out and threatened us call security come in, we said ok, you can call anybody come here, she called Macy's worker came in, we explained everything to Macy's worker, she told us salesperson had right to get us out because she thought us had attitude to her. Came here with my wife today and was told after I was in the store for 5 min to put a mask on while my wife who was doing the shopping didn't have one on. When the gentleman told me to wear mask I asked him about the woman who was purchasing & her 3 kids oldest was about 10 rhat didnt have masks on and he just blew me off. I had the most pleasant shopping experience in the jewelry department. Salpy Sakayan was the perfect sales colleague. Near and available without hovering and badgering. She showed us several pieces. When we were kind of thinking of buying this particular piece, she told us about the discounts and we decided to buy the piece. She offered further incentives but we were not interested in them for our own reasons. Pleasant, professional, informative, what more does one need than Salpy Sakayan. Mixed review... My sister and I came to Macy's to shop for dresses. Diana at ladies fashions was incredible! She was helpful, nice and very knowledgeable. She made our shopping experience a pleasure. We walked away with bags of clothes that we love! Diana at ladies fashions gets 5+ stars!!! :-) Disappointed at my usual favorite spot though. Went to Benefit so I can introduce my sister to Get Even #2. The tiny little orange skinned girl with overdone wake up was more insulting than helpful. She was trying to get my ivory skinned sister to put on darker makeup to look as orange and overdone as her. We don't like that cheap look and quite frankly, I am actually shocked that she works for Benefit. It's not about looking like a Jersey Shore orange skin tart. Ok...done venting! In case the little girl with orange skin reads this... You never brush your face with powder, then force a customer to use the same brush. This is why they have the little white sponges. Also, just because you like a certain shade on your face/body, doesn't mean we all do. When someone is using a floor sample to try on a color, don't complain that it is better to use a brush (the dirty one in your hand). You're cute but your attitude isn't. I've been a Macy's loyalist for many years. Sad to say the furniture & mattress departments are A MESS. Customer Service reps for delivery are poorly trained & unprofessional. I've had 2 horrible experiences in 2 months. I was transferred to 3 different service reps (1 a supervisor) just to change phone # on my account specifically in the furniture department. Even the "supervisor" couldn't do it, nor tell me who could. The rep just hung up on me when she couldn't get it done & wanted to transfer me back to the previous rep. The furniture department isn't consolidated w clothing retail online systems. Stay away from furniture purchases & deliveries @ Macy's. read more

I prefer this Macy's over any other in SoCal, but it's quite a drive for me. Every department is large and has so much inventory. Soooo many dresses to choose from that range from cocktail to elegant. Definitely the place to go to start your search for a dress. The clearance section for every department is pretty good. It doesn't look like a zoo which is usually the case. Haha. Guess that's what you can expect when you shop in a more affluent area. Also, if you are a Macy's card holder, getting samples/freebies from those cards in the mail is always easy. My husband and I did our wedding registry here. We didn't have a appointment, but the lady who helped us was so sweet and accommodating. I guess it's best to book that in advance in you want cocktails and snacks while working on a registry. read more

I've got to share a problem at the check-out counter of men's clothing that occurred during an exchange on Christmas Eve I feel is systemic of management failures at this store. This was a simple gift exchange for sizing. I underwent the task of getting the right sizes. All they needed do was process it with my gift receipt. But the two staff behind the counter refused to listen, and credited the purchasing account and we're attempting to charge me for the replacement items - and after I told them 4 or 5 times what I needed. The staff person in charge had almost no English speaking skills, nor could I understand her. I'm sure she forces many customers into paying for the new items in a gift exchange. So when I pressed her to do it correctly, she stormed off like a child, and a manager apologized & redid the exchange (and charging me $12 for a coupon that was no longer good). Now I'm sure Macy's has very clear gift exchange policies. But this store's staff wasn't following them. And I don't understand the wisdom of hiring & staffing workers who cannot speak English to handle customer transactions in a community that is 95% English speaking. Prior to going to this counter, another staff person abandoned her post at another checkout counter I had tried to use. In short, this store was a mess on Christmas Eve. read more

WHO WOULD EVEN STOCK A POLYESTER SHEET YOU COULD SEE THRU THAT RETAILED FOR 170.00! Shame on you Macy's. Your management and sales staff are rude. Today I exchanged a pair of 502 Men's Cords slacks.. they had been in my possession unused for over a year and I had no idea where the receipt was. Ellie the gracious and easy going clerk smiled as she gently explained they were over a year old--but her reassuring smile kept me hopeful as she summoned her manager Andrew. While out for the day with the hubby at the Fashion Island shopping, my guy wanted to go into Macy's. He loves clothes and shoes just as much if not more than I do. But this time that was not what he was looking for. They had single bottle marble wine chillers on sale and he has been wanting one for ever. There were two left and he grabbed them both. Pretty solid and heavy. We waiting in the first line with 1 person helping a line of 5 people waiting. My husband is inpatient so we go looking for another checkout. We found one that had 1 person being helped. We stood there for another 10 minutes while the checker tried to help the man find a store that carried what he was looking for. His wife and kids were comfortable sitting on the couch waiting. It looked like they had been there a while. The lady never looked at us to acknowledge we were there or say, "I'll be with you shortly ". My husband being my husband got frustrated of waiting and sat the coolers down and said let's go. So I went up stairs and shopped and bought myself a cute dress and shirt. They were definitely faster and friendlier. He on the other hand did not find anything. read more

Its good here probably one of the best macys for macys ..but the men's department is geared toward big people when in fact blooingdales ,neiman,nordys all have smaller sizes better fits ,better styles...macys get some smaller sizes in men's pants like 28,29,30s waist,get some kool colored jeans ,and more fitted shirts and I know your a cheaper than the stores I mentioned but just get cheaper designers read more

This Macys is hit or miss, but they do have good sales once in a while. You can sometimes find something great on clearance here that you wouldn't find otherwise. The staff is pretty friendly, but sometimes it can be hit or miss. My problem is that the inside feels very outdated. I feel like I am trapped in 1985 with the old school interiors and schizophrenic style displays which will make anyone with ADHD want to take down a whole bottle of ritalin. The displays are too big, too cluttered, and too close together. The merchandise is pretty decent, but not really as great as the Macys in the Beverly Center ( By far the best Macy's Men's store in southern California!) Overall this place is a decent Macy's in Newport Beach! read more

Oh my, only a 21/2 star overall rating? What the? I realize my personal shopping needs are simple, but jeesh. I recently lost a bunch of weight, again, and needed to update the ol' wardrobe. If I didn't have to go into the office every day my needs would even be more simplified. Although we recently did vote in shorts on Fridays, I still have to dress like a professional the other 4 days. Damn adulthood! Time to dust off the old Macy's card and use some of those discounts they bombard all of their cardholders with. Lots of discounts on top of other discounts including a "Macy's Bucks" for $10 off of the already discounted bottom line. Nice! So why am I bucking the low rating trend? Service kids, service. I have a 20 minute shopping ADD affliction, so I have returned here several times over the last couple of months. Everyone I have dealt with have been so incredibly helpful. And incredibly cheery too. I actually think I am starting to enjoy shopping after my 5 or 6 visits. Well maybe not enjoying, but I have stopped breaking out in hives when that 20 minute mark is approaching. This is probably my first ever department store review, and most likely the last.
