I don't shop Macy's very often. I've only shopped there about 4 or 5 times and was very satisfied with my purchases

I have one star due to the lady who tried to help me by showing me the few petite "better dresses"Macy's has. I couldn't even wear them to work much less a semi formal occasion. If you are a petite, the have great play clothes but nothing decent in stores for work or dressy occasions. Regular sizes don't work for me and I used to be able to get great suits and jackets here. No more. The shoe section was bare and a bit of a mess. Petites save your time and look elsewhere for dressy clothes. read more

Not sure why, at my age, that I don't ever remember going into a Macy's. A friend shops here regularly, raves about the deals, figured I'd better take a look. So much stuff, prices all over the place...it's been years since I've been in ANY department store and I remember why. Reminds me of a maze where you have to leave bread crumbs behind to find your way back to the correct door you entered. Most items that caught my eye, gave me sticker shock. I'm just not that fancy. And, to be fair, I wear scrubs to work. I'm a jeans and simple sundress person, so I'm just not particularly department store fashionable. I looked through the jeans and many my size came with holes. I like wearing them long enough to get my own holes going! The half life is considerably lower if already "used"! I did purchase a Reebok athletic top for my training. The sales staff are very helpful and pleasant, making shopping there a great experience. Shopping for clothes is stressful enough .

One of the singular worst things about Macy's is the total lack of convenient access to check out registers. If there are mini ones spread throughout the store, then they are extremely well hidden!!!! And plastic bags instead of paper with rigid handles is no longer. We spent $1,000+ and waited in line for an hour on a Saturday late afternoon. Even with 4 associates with 2 associates each handling a single transaction. Recommendations to Macy's: put more check out registers through out the store!!!! read more

The Chesterfield Towne Center Macy's is a great representation of dying big-box mall anchor stores. I'm sure most of us have worked a retail position at some point in our lives and have had customer service policies drilled into our heads. You will not find that at this location. In a time where development is higher than it's ever been for Chesterfield County, I can only see a downward trend of Macy's customers at this mall. The store itself has been through a couple of interior remodels and the store's targeted audience has shifted as well. The racks and shelves seem to be either under stocked in most sizes (I'm 6'4" & 220lbs, most of American fashion has forgotten us tall folks) or representative of what a department store tornado would leave in its path. Not a single associate (there were four behind the small men's counter at one point) will greet you when you walk in the door, pass them by, wave them down, or try to get an ounce of attention. Most seem too worn out or distracted to answer questions and that's no fault to the workers, but our economy forcing those in their later years to work retail positions for ends to be met. Ive personally learned to be an independent shopper and with resources like a website for stock info on our phones, there's no longer a need to "check the back". After the third time experiencing this lack of customer service I felt it necessary I finally type out a review. I really hope that the Macy's team can turn things around before the store is shutdown by lack of interest in the mall as a whole. read more

Two stars for the two strikes that'll make me hesitate to patronize this Macy's location again: They overcharged and they didn't remove the shoplifting tag. Downtown obviously doesn't have a shopping mall of its own, so visiting one of the big-name department stores requires a bit of a drive. Since I had other reasons to be in the area, I stopped in to this Macy's with my mom last weekend. I was so excited to find a pair of blue-green work pants that fit perfectly. Typically my wardrobe is pretty neutral, with plenty of black and gray to go around. So adding colors and patterns is a priority for me. On Tuesday, when I went to take the tags off, I noticed the shoplifting tag was still on. I know mistakes happen, but 1) why didn't the door buzz when we left? and 2) that's a pretty annoying error. I decided to deal with the annoyance by taking care of it the same night. This time, I grabbed the tags and went off to the Short Pump location. As I scanned the receipt, I realized I couldn't find the transaction on it. Why? Because they charged me $8 too much. A fact I likely wouldn't have noticed if they hadn't failed to remove the shoplifting piece (I clearly don't know the proper name of the device). Short Pump refunded us the extra and pointed out that we should just go to their location instead. I'd agree, because so far I've yet to have any sort of similar issue there. Beyond these problems, the Macy's store looked like pretty much every other location. A bit dated, but clean enough and easy to navigate. It's near NY & Co. and Loft on the Midlothian Turnpike side of the mall. read more

This Macy's seems enormous and a bit overwhelming. It's a big square and still seems a bit easy to get lost in until you get to learn it. Not enough people at registers at Christmas time. Long, slow checkout. Otherwise, it's a typical Macy's experience. There's always a sale and I can almost always find what I'm looking for. read more

Why? This place is NOT handicap friendly! My mother is in a wheelchair, and even with her transport (read: skinny) chair, we could not go anywhere other than the very main aisle. Registers? Where are they? In the midst of these way-too-close garment displays. And the shoe department? Worst. Ever! Find a shoe you like. Stand in line to get the one employee to get mate / size you need. Get mate/size. Find you need another size, wait in line again. Decide you want? Wait in line again. And the area looks like a bomber went off there. But then, how can you expect one person to tens the line AND keep the place looking clean??? No thanks, guys. I'll gladly pay twice the price at a local boutique for more original clothes, better, friendlier service, and handicap accessibility. Overall grade: F- read more

This is your standard Macy's department store. Everything is highly priced, worth it or not. Racks upon racks of the same, one if a kind shirts. They carry almost every large expensive brand you can think of, even those brands that were at one time relevant but trying desperately to keep holding on to what once was. They have an entire row of purses on sale, and not one that I saw was under $100. Pictures below. Large shoe section, in the back left is sale shoes for women. $40 and over about sums it up. They have quite a few make up counters and jewelry counters. I was in this store for about 45 minutes and was walked by, and glanced at by many numerous people working here, but was never at any point asked if I needed help. read more

My son bought me a pair of converse shoes for Christmas and they were to big so I took them back to the store to exchange them. They didn't have my size so they ordered my size. When I got my shoes the idiots gave me 2 right feet. I called them told them what happened and the idiot on the phone said we will give you 2 day shipping. I said perfect. When I got home from my trip still no shoes. So I called again talked to a supervisor told her what happened and she told me the idiot canceled my order and gave me my money back so I told her I want my sHoes so she reorder them and promised me that they would be at my door in 2 days. Well guess wHat NO shoes again so I called them again and asked them wHy did they cancel my order. They told me they no longer carry them!! What a bunch of MASSHOLES!! This Macy's is my second go-to Macy's in the Richmond area. The staff here is friendly and helpful. I will always remember this Macy's because this is the very location where I bought my girlfriend a promise ring. David, the guy who worked at the Jewelry department, helped us out during that time when we were trying to find out which ring would be great. He was amazing! He kept us up to date on everything and made the process so easy for us. Plus, I got a great deal on the ring! So happy for that! This Macy's is only one floor, so it's a bit smaller than other locations. During the holiday shopping season, I feel that it is really crowded here. Sometimes they would be overstocked with some items in the perfume department near the men's section and it would just be hard to walk around that area, especially with people coming in the opposite direction. Since this is a smaller Macy's, their selection is limited. Above all else, this is definitely a great place to shop at. read more

One of the sad realities of the modern day department store is one for all, all for one look where similarities abound. It's not until you look at brands that you sense the quality of the merchant. Macy's ranks firmly planted in the middle of the stores in today's market place. This particular store seems a bit undersized in comparison to others bearing its name. They also purchase for the market, which means that while they host many household names, they are generally missing ones you might find in other markets. If you have one of their credit cards, you can often bring the price down below what you will find elsewhere, otherwise, their items do appear to be overpriced. If it weren't for convenience and the card, we would most likely would go elsewhere, but with these two factors, it is the place where we head for clothing and periodically other items. read more

My review is for the men's department. The remodel is the best thing that's happened there. What remains disappointing and a real deterrent for me is spending more time chasing down a worker to ring me up, than shopping. I understand budget cuts but it only runs people away. I was told that I could always ring up my purchases for men's clothing over in women's/juniors- the far smaller size section several feet over yonder... Meh.... Nevertheless I had to do that yesterday. The other issue that never changed much, is the demeanor of men's dept cashiers- who seem over it, annoyed or dry. If it isn't busy (at all whatsoever) why rush people along? The culture at Chesterfield isn't consistent with any other location I've visited in VA. Two times I've gone shopping for menswear I left because of the lack of service due to serious understaffing. The first time I was second in line and left after waiting 15 minutes for the person ahead of me to be rung up. She apologized for it taking so long, but the cashier (or anyone else) never even acknowledged I was there. Today I was the third person in line and there wasn't a cashier to be found either in menswear or anywhere nearby. I told a manager who went to look for someone, but I don't know how long it was before he found someone. On the plus side, on another visit I did get a very helpful staff member who helped me on the floor and then gave me a nice discount. read more

This review is for Macy's dot com. Bought product at 50% off. Received merchandise broken. Customer Service Rep said they were out of stock and could not reorder for me AND gave me no alternative or help on how to go about keeping my 50% off deal. Remember, if Macy's had packed the item correctly, I would have the item in one piece, not 8 broken pieces. So, the $300 item I paid $150 for is broken and as far as Macy's is concerned - tough sh*t - no reorder - no back order - no 50% off coupon - no nothing! This store management was supposed to call me 6/4/19, I waited until 6/18/19 and tried to reach them. 3 1/2 hours of frustration later I was able to speak to store manager Emma. This was to receive a credit for a returned mail order item of $20.80 that I was supposed to receive 6/10/19 according to customer service help line. That item was "lost in transit in the store" according to the email Macy's sent me 6/4/19. I would never try and order again and have purchase delivered to Chesterfield Town Center store as they are poorly run and could not deliver nor apologize for that lack of delivery. read more

Five stars because of the superior customer service!!! I was frazzled and needed help buying shoes and a suit for my husband. An associate by the name of Donald was the answer to all my problems. He took the time out of his very busy and crowded day to help me. I know nothing about men's attire and be taught me everything I needed to know! I've always had great experience at this store before today. I went in this morning looking for a dress to wear at a wedding. I've been looking for a while and finally found exactly what I wanted. It was on a mannequin, and took me more than 45 minutes to find someone to direct me to where the dresses were located. When I found someone, she couldn't find them, but told me she would get someone to help me take out the one in the mannequin. 1 hour later, talked to three different people and no one could give me the dress, then kept saying someone is coming to help me. It's very frustrating knowing they have what you need but they just won't give it to you. So disappointed. read more
