Very nice Macy's location at the Northshore Mall. I was there shopping the cosmetic and fragrances department looking to replenish some products that I was running low on. All of the counters for all of the various beauty brands were attractively set up and well organized. On this particular visit to the store I was looking to replenish some Lancome skincare items and the saleslady was able to quickly find the items that I was asking for. I also saw an eyeshadow that looked good so I decided to buy that along with the couple of skincare items that I was purchasing. The beauty department was running a sale for 15% off their beauty products so I got a pretty decent deal on my items. The saleslady who waited on me was efficient and was a pleasure to deal with. I am happy with my products and I would definitely consider shopping at this location again. read more

i will never ever order from Macys again for furnitur. They delivered our couch in 2 different colors then we had to spend another $1500 out of our pocket to fix it only to have the wrong piece delivered the second time. Customer service is unable to do anything for us as we ordered in store so they were useless when called. We went back to the store 4 times to get things rectified and they are still not fixed. Also good luck getting ahold of anyone in store via phone. I would buy literally anywhere else before going back to Macys. If I were you don't waste your time and money here. read more

I never write a negative review, but the men's fragrance at Macy's has their sample bottles locked away and you have to ask them to let you try one! Is theft so rampant that they can't leave out the testers? 3 people were working there so someone can't keep a handle on theft? I certainly wasn't going to ask them to pull 10 bottles for me to try. I ordered online a pair of Nike sneakers for my grandson size 7. When they came in the mail, the size was six. Talking to customer service and re-ordering them in seven, I received the Nike sneakers and size 6 1/2. It took me 25 minutes to speak with, a representative in the sales department. I could not understand them and it looks like they could not understand me because this is the second time I got the wrong size sneaker for my grandson. I just called the store in Peabody and not one department picked up. I know this because I tried them all to see if I could get some help! I think I am done with shopping at Macy's. It makes me sad because I really did like the store. The customer service is terrible. I can say the woman shoe department is not too bad. Yesterday, I had an unpleasant experience at Macy's. I was looking to exchange a sweater for a better size, but a staff member made it more difficult than it needed to be. The line was extremely long, so a saleswoman appeared to take transactions at a register on the other side of the store. Once there, she accused me of wearing the sweater even though it was in pristine condition and had all the tags attached. She also said that the item was not in the system because it had been purchased over 30 days ago-- which I know is not true based on my years of shopping at Macy's. Clothing returns with tags and stickers applied at time or sale (with the exception of "final sale") can be returned for credit up to 180 days, and the policy had not changed in January as she claimed. Ordinarily, I would not need my receipt for an even exchange, but given the circumstances I tried to find it. I couldn't locate it in my bag, so I stepped away. When I found it, I returned to the original customer service desk. Despite the unnecessary wait and hassle caused by the saleswoman, I was eventually able to return the item and receive credit. As I had expected, the exchange went as expected, and the receipt was not even needed. I was extremely unhappy with the attitude and gaslighting from the saleswoman. Speaking to me as though I were a shoplifter and making false claims about the return policy are unprofessional and unacceptable. Macy's, do better. read more

i went in last week for shoes and the woman had ear buds in and was having her own conversation the entire time I was asking her about shoes and I can assure you it was not job related and when asked about sizes she just said we dint have them and never offered to look or order them. A moronic business run like a clown show. You call the main number, looking for a specific item that can be picked up locally because of a time crunch. They tell you it's at the North Shore Mall Macy's. So you call that store and ask if you can order and pay over the phone, since you can't do that online (looks like they're going toward web-online ordering, since in-store pickup wasn't an option online). Guy is too busy to take the order, says he'll call back, which of course he doesn't. Call again, and they say it's not in stock and will take a week to order. What an utter waste of time. read more

Where is the zero star option? This is the worst Macy's I've ever been to in my entire life. I was visiting this area and needed a new replacement suitcase and backpack to continue my trip. There were all kinds of signs by multiple suitcases with sale signs of 50% to 60% off. I picked out what I wanted and took it to the bored, indifferent looking cashier who said she couldn't do a price check to verify the sale price. So she started ringing up the sale, and the luggage was full price. We told her that there were signs all over saying that these two items were on sale. She was unmoved. A normal salesperson would have checked the advertised price and honor it, then pull the sign if it was incorrect. She would do none of that. So we put the luggage back because I am not paying $800 for it. I looked at the luggage again and noticed the signs had fine print on the bottom - up and down dates of January 2023. Uh... the day I am looking at this is like 4 months later. I then thought that maybe they just re-use sale signs to save paper. A bored and miserable looking Macy's employee walked by. I asked her if she knew if the luggage was on sale. She kept walking and said, "I don't know. Come back tomorrow." Macy's sucks. I found nice luggage at Target for a fraction of Macy's price and the Target store employees were helpful. read more

First, I want to say that I never thought in my life that I would complain about someone, but this complaint is necessary. I bought my husband a pair of Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses for Valentine's Day for $366. Unfortunately my husband didn't like the brown color, and the black one were out of stock. I came to the Peabody mall ,MA on Sunday 25 to return them and let my husband pick something else, but unfortunately the employee who works at the Sunglasses department was very rude to us without any reason. The sunglasses were in their original box and had never been opened since my husband tried them on the day I bought them. But the lady who works in this department refused to return them( I think because she did not want to lose her commission) so she claimed that the box was missing a charger, which is not true because I have the same glasses in black, and the only thing that's included in the box is a charging case / cleaning cloth / quick start guide. This can be easily verified. I would like to file a complaint . First , because I want to know why she treated us nasty for no reason . Secondly , I felt very insulted by this racist woman behavior towards us , I did nothing wrong ,this happened on Sunday at 6:50 pm at 7 pm. You guys can verified the camera and the condition of the returned product ,and the way she interacted with us. After looking through JCPenney for some boys formal wear, we decided to stop in at this Macy's because they typically have a better selection of clothing. When we arrived at the store our expectations held strong and we were able to find a few different suit options that were reasonably priced. In the end we were able to walk out of the store with a few different items including a very nice grey suit. The staff here was very polite, and the store overall was well organized and clean. In the future we will shop at this store because we know we can find what we are looking for here. read more

My wife and I bought a bedroom set here. The salesperson was very helpful and bent over backwards to help us. She even gave us a special 5% discount because we were buying a few weeks before the scheduled tax holiday. That's why this review has any stars at all. We ordered a bed, two nightstands, and two chests of drawers, being told it would be delivered in about two weeks. The day arrived and the truck pulled up, and they started unwrapping the furniture from their cardboard boxes. Woops! The bed and one of the chests were badly damaged. You see, they get the stuff wrapped in cardboard boxes directly from the warehouse so they have no idea of the condition until they get it to your house. In their defense, the workers were the ones who noticed the damage and told us they didn't feel right about leaving it with us. They'd process the replacement request, etc. I followed up with my sales rep who apologized and said she could deliver the bed, but the chest would be on backorder. A couple weeks later the bed arrived... 3 hours late. The workers brought it in and started to assemble it. They asked me to borrow a few allen wrenches, so I lent them what I had. They asked if I had a power screwdriver. I lent it to them as well. Then I hear one of them talking about "cutting it somehow so it will be easier." One of the guys goes out to the van, we hear some loud banging, and he comes back in and goes back to work. After an hour, they emerg from the room and ask if my wife and I planned to use the bed tonight, or if it could wait. I tell them we planned to use it, of course. They tell me the hardware that came with the bed is bad. I'll have to place a request for a "service call" and get new hardware. They left. I looked at the mess they had left, and examined the hardware. I couldn't believe it. They had attempted to drive the allen bolts into the bed frame by using the power screwdriver. They had stripped them in the process. Then I found the one bolt that was bent. In an effort to make it easier, the had tried to snap the bolt in half to make it easier. I managed to get the allen wrench to fit into all the bolts but one, and after spending over an hour of be able to turn each one only a fraction at a time, I was able to put the bed together and salvage it. It has now been over a month since then, a month and a half overall, and we still have no chest. DO NOT buy furniture from Macy's. The product is GREAT, but unless you can walk out of the store with it in hand don't expect to see it for months. read more

Under most circumstances the men's department in any store is about 1/100 the size of the ladies. I am not joking next time you are in any store check it out and see if I am lying. The selection here is good for the most part with many top brands but not a huge selection to choose from. I am not a big fan of the Macy's suits but this location has some of the better brands like Hugo Boss & HSM. The Shoe department has some nicer high end shoes too for men. If you catch and time your sales right and seasons you can find some great deals. Good Shopping. read more

I went here today with my daughter to get some makeup. Though I must admit it's a nice looking store (it definitely improved in the last few years--it used to look like a dump), the salespeople are very snotty. A few years ago, I was looking for a pocketbook and I wanted to see how many pockets and sections they had. So of course, I had the look inside them. The saleslady in that section flipped out. "You can't look inside them!" Why not? I was planning to drop $300 dollars plus on a pocketbook. I should be able to see what's inside of it! I asked her where the Coach bags were and she said, "You don't look like you can afford one of those. Here's the Guess bags. They're all under $100." Come again? So I ended up buying a Coach bag in Nordstrom, where they treated me like a normal human being and let me look inside all the bags, even the $1000 Kate Spade & Burberry ones. Unfortunately, I hate going into Sephora and Ulta stocks only about 3 things from Benefit cosmetics so I have to buy them in Macy's. They're not much better than Sephora in the attitude department. If they see you looking around in the makeup section, they come RUNNING up to you, like you're about to give yourself a five fingered discount and take off. This time a Kardasian wannabe said to me "You're going to buy that, right?" Nice customer service, huh? It would be nice not to be treated like a criminal for once, but I suppose that's not the Macy's way. The only plus is they do have very good sales, so if you like designer and name brand clothes cheap, this is the place to go. I bought my daughter a pair of Levi's jeans and a Polo sweater for under $20. They used to have beautiful kids clothes, but they've gone WAY downhill. Unless you're buying Levi's or Polo's, you're better off going to Target. Their quality is about the same and the prices are cheaper overall. Oh yeah, I agree with the other reviewer about the restrooms. They are tucked away in a corner on the main floor. They are absolutely impossible to find and no one who works there knows where they are. Oh yeah, they stink too, literally. They also look like they belong in a Wal-mart or K-mart. Doesn't exactly match the uppity attitudes of the salespeople. read more

This review is specifically for the Clinique counter at the Macy's Peabody location* I am the first to admit that I am the worst at being a female. I've never been good at make up or skin care, or really anything beauty related. I was browsing here for make up last week, and had an awesome experience with Jessica, an employee at the Clinique counter. She first went over my skin with me, and showed me some products she thought would be helpful to keep my skin moisturized & healthy. She then went over some different make up options for me (foundation, eyeliners, lipstick) and showed me how to apply them properly. It was really sweet of her to take the time to go over these with me, and did not judge me for being a 24 year old year that knows absolutely nothing about make up aside from mascara and chap stick. I ended up leaving the counter with 2 new beauty products, and a makeover I LOVED. I will definitely be returning to this location. read more

***This review is for the new Men's and Home store that recently opened in the old Lord and Taylor I was pleasantly surprised when I first came to this new store. The first floor is all furniture, and pretty nice. I didn't spend too much time down there, but it's your typical Macy's Home. The Men's department occupies the whole second floor. It is pretty amazing where each brand/designer is separate. This makes it easier to shop around. The new store offers many brands that the old Macy's men's department didn't. It still has the usual Lacoste, Polo, Nautica, Lucky Brand, Claiborne, Calvin Klein, Buffalo, Kenneth Cole, North Face, Nike, etc., etc. However, now each department is a lot bigger, kind of like a mini store within the store if you get what I mean. Additionally, they now have Antik Denim, Ed Hardy, Hugo Boss, and some others. The shoe department is bigger, but still lacking IMO. I've found some good deals there so far, and I like how it's still too new and most people don't know it's open yet, more selection for me, but I guess it's time to share the wealth. I didn't give it 5 stars only because Macy's East in general should follow the model of Macy's West, and start offering some more higher end brands. This store is a good candidate for this kind of store, it's in the right demographic area. read more

So it's no Herald Square with the rickety old esclators from 1912 or whatever, but hey, this Macy's rocked my world last week when I went (last minute, of course) shopping. I needed to find a gift for a cousin I barely talk to anyone, but whose turning 30 meant I had to drive 200+ miles and give something nice to boot. Not that I'm complaining. I luvs ya, girl. Anyway, it didn't take a sales lady at the jewelry counter too long to ask me if I needed help. I told her my price range and she graciously swept me away from the diamond necklaces and on towards something more reasonable - diamond earrings. The store was having a huge sale, so I managed to get a gorgeous pair of diamond-studded hoops at a ridiculous price. Also, I learned that when Macy's has those "use your Macy's credit card sales" you can also use Macy's GIFT CARDS and still get the additional percent off! read more

Went here for two different returns, I bought a medium Calvin Klein shirt that was "fitted" but was to big i tried to return it but since it was to big. They claimed the shirt wasn't theirs, i had the receipt and everything, but they said they would NEVER sell this shirt which had a black Calvin label (Macy's only sells Calvin Klein shirts with white labels). , so i went to a different Macy's and turns out it was a fake and they apologized and did the return. And today I went with my girlfriend to return a blazer that she never used, and turns out It was sold just a blazer that was supposed to come with pants, So now they claim they would NEVER sell this as a one piece, apparently they are perfect and are incapable of ever making a mistake and they pretty much embarrass you and accused us of lying so we went down to Cambridge to to get our credit card, since they didn't want to look up our card which i know Macy's can do! We decided to go to the galleria and they apologized and said it happens a lot made it easy and professional. I don't particularly like to shop in big name store but I have to say that I had the best experience on Monday. Yes cyber Monday! I needed a winter coat and knew I could get a good deal. Not only was the selection amazing, but I actually made a new friend while shopping and she helped me make up my mind. Then as I waited at the register I witnessed the kindest most compassionate and gentle young lady take care of everyone's needs with such grace and the most beautiful smile. Rachel Johnson of intimate apparel you my dear are a treasure. It was clear to see why everyone was so content and patient. Your calming way and energy about you just radiates out. It was a pleasure! The funny thing is I had to exchange my coat and there she was again with a kind word and a smile. She remembered me and again had the most beautiful way about her. I am a long-time customer of Macy's and the stores that have become part of the Macy's empire. I am writing about a particularly negative experience with a sales associate at this location. I stopped by in the late afternoon looking for a set of towels to give as a wedding gift to a family member. I selected and carefully folded the towels before bringing them to the counter for purchase. I specifically told the sales associate that (1) I had folded the towels carefully and wanted them kept that way and (2) they were for a gift, so would appreciate his help in wrapping or preparing them. He proceeded - deliberately and smirking at me - to unfold the towels into a chaotic pile and cram them into a bag while ringing them up. I said something about making them presentable for a gift and he threw a few gift boxes at me. This was not a trivial purchase - the four sets of towels totaled over $100 even on sale - and the sales associate's rude behavior will make me think twice about venturing to Macy's again. I'm giving two stars because the towels were lovely and well-received once we had re-folded them and wrapped them nicely. read more
