The decline of retail is sadly apparent when visiting department stores like Macy's. In the last two weeks, I visited this store on two separate occasions to pick up online orders. On both occasions, the employees who assisted me seemed to have very nonchalant, apathetic attitudes. It's almost as if they realize they work in a dying industry and have lost enthusiasm for their profession. Its not as if they were rude, they certainly were not... but they reminded me of soulless robots. Strictly limited to their formal menswear department ( I was only there to shop for and pick up a suit and dress shirts I bought online ), it would seem their department here is severely lacking in variety. I tried to locate a representative to help me find some pants to match a suit jacket I had, but the department was a ghost town. So I decided to pick up my online order and leave. This sounds like a pretty negative review. So why 3 stars and not 1? Well, the items I picked up from my Macy's online order were perfect. I bought 3 dress shirts and a suit during a recent men's formalwear sale they had for a screaming price. Value for money on my orders was top notch. read more

Great customer service . Love that they added Mac make up to this location last summer . This has always been one of my favorite stores since I've started shopping for myself 15 yrs ago. This location is great and huge . I love their selection and frequent sales . This store is bright and always clean. The toddler boy section could improve other Macys have a better selection but I order a lot online so it isn't a big deal for me. I also love how they always have a lot of employees working so it's not hard looking for someone to help you like in other locations . read more

Absolutely disgusted with Macy's!!! Ordered a couch from here back in April. It was delayed four times. Then they cancelled the delivery. NEVER received the couch. Best they could do is send me a $100 in "star money" for the inconvenience and I think I'll be waiting just as long as my couch for it. Horrible horrible customer service from Mary Ann at this location and horrible customer service from their main line. Christian who I guess is supposed to be a lead? Very unprofessional and HORRIBLE customer service. We had a huge issue with gift cards and it ended up having one of our gift cards blocked and we were no longer able to use it as Christian described. Wouldn't even let me mom talk as they kept interjecting and honestly didn't get anywhere with the problem until I suggested starting the transaction again. I'm surprised this place has such negative reviews; my experience was positive. Every year my bf and I have a tradition- on December 30th, he asks me what color my dress is for NYE, and we go to a Macy's so he can find a complementary shirt and tie. This year we ended up in the Macy's in MainPlace Mall. Since it was after Christmas they were having a pretty big sale, and the store was super crowded. Despite this, the stock didn't seem too picked through. Not everything was organized but it was nowhere near as bad as it can get sometimes. Once we finally found what we were looking for, we were able to check out quickly. The cashier was very friendly and apologetic that their chip reader was being glitchy. I'm not a mall/shopping person, but I would return to this store next time I need to buy something in person. read more

This is by far the WORST PLACE to ever go to. DO NOT come to this Macy's. I honestly would rather spend more more elsewhere than shop at such a rude and inconsistent disgrace of store to name brand of MACY's. I came in perusing just like any other customer and as I make my way towards the Michael kors section of the store (shopping for the girlfriend) I was instantly eyeballed and made uncomfortable. I feel as if just because I was a guy in a particularly female section of a store, I didn't belong; and considering that it's a more expensive side, and I wasn't dressed very well, they immediately started tailing me. I find a nice bag and wallet for my girlfriend that I think she would like, and I don't have the cash on me, so I decide to simply take 2 pictures of it and immediately a lady runs over and asks me what I'm doing. I kindly and respectfully explain to her what she is, and she continues to thrash me with questions in such an indecent way. I'm very responsible, but I should've gotten her name so we know EXACTLY who this rude worker is. She then proceeds to tell me to delete the photos I took and I'm literally disgusted. You ruined my day and ruined the name of MACYs. Now , If there's a rule on photography I can respect that, but I highly doubt it with my explaination on why I took the photos. No harm and no foul. Because of this and the other reviews on this below average at best location, go SOMEWHERE ELSE for your needs. read more

If you order something online for in store pick up, don't select this store as your pick up location. Based on my experience, you may have to waste a lot of time to pick it up (that's if they can even find it). The item I wanted was out of stock at my local stores, so I ordered it here, even though it's a half hour away from me. I got an email saying my order was ready, then I got another email letting me know the item would be available for 8 days after the order date. I made it in on the 6th day and was told my item must have already been picked up. Then I was told my order was canceled, then they couldn't find it in the back. Although I showed them my email confirmation at least half a dozen times, they kept questioning if I was at the right store, etc. The "manager" didn't even know customers area told their purchase would available for pick up for 8 days. The employees were utterly incompetent. The cashier was nice, but at the mercy of a worthless system. The "manager" couldn't figure out a solution. (I finally gave them a solution and asked them to officially cancel the order and just let me repurchase the item they had in stock in the store, although the manager was unsure about even that!) To make matters worse? I'm still waiting for a refund of the order that was supposedly canceled. read more

Came in on Thursday, 1/12/17 around 6pm to return a shirt that I received for Christmas that didn't fit me. The lady who helped me was extremely nice and took care of my return. She put the credit back onto a gift card so, at that point I figured I would find something else I wanted since I was already there. I walked closely over to the sports gear section, where I had the pleasure of meeting Kim, who was extremely helpful and friendly in helping me find something I would like. We had a great conversation and sports, specifically my family's interest in the Angels & Kings, as well as the Chargers' return to LA. She pulled out a few jackets/sweaters that were on sale and even suggested I try some of them on. I hadn't even seen all of them behind some other clothes on the rack. She told me she had one in mind out of the 3 jackets she had me try in that she figured I would like the most (I didn't know which one yet). I tried all of them on and liked one of them the best which ended up being the one she knew I'd like. She was right, lol! Anyways, kudos to Kim for being extremely friendly and making the customer feel welcomed and not just another person walking into their store. This Macy's isn't as big as most Macy's. The mens and furniture department are separate from the other departments and they are on the other side of the mall. On the womans department the fitting rooms had lots of scaterred around the rooms and my girlfriend had to wait almost 20 minutes for an available fitting room. Other than that the service was great (especially in the shoe department, thank you Maria) and we were rung up quickly. read more

This location is really clean and well organized and well stocked . The staff here is great they are always very helpful and have great attitudes really nice and kind . I'm writing about Urban Decay. First of all, greatest customer service I've ever had! So I walked to Urban Decay and tried looking for my shade. Not even a minute being there, one of the girls that work there saw me kinda struggle. Nicely, she asked if I needed help. She probably tried on like 20 different shades and filled my arm and neck and chest with foundation (no I didn't mind at all). She was so nice that every so often she'd ask if it was okay that she's coloring my arm, neck, and chest like a little kid. And then her coworker came and also helped. The funny part about all of this was that a couple of the bottles wouldn't pump out any foundation. So with all the pressure building up, the bottle would squirt out so much makeup that it landed on the table, on the two sales girls, my phone (it was on the table), and sadly my face and eye. I trusted the original girl that helped me clean my face up. We all laughed and both were so apologetic. Not sure if this is first job or she's just a genuinely nice person, but it was honestly one of the best customer service I've ever had. Even after purchasing everything, she apologized one last time and wished us a good night. If I ever see you again, I hope we can be friends! Quite possibly the worst customer service I've ever recorded. Jose was unable to correct the customer service situation without being inappropriate and politely Condescending. Policy states that only one person at a time in dressing rooms and my kids were told to leave the area. Not leaving my 14 year old child alone. Unable to find any type of help for 20-25 mins and the only help we could find asked us to leave. More than happy to leave and never return. Macy's policy is that family's are not allowed. I'm heading over to Nordstoms where the customer service is about the customer. :-) I ended up spending $1299 with Nordstoms. I think this Macys gets a bit of a bad rap. I mean, yeah, it's not South Coast Plaza with it's crazy selection and high end lines; BUT, it's easy to park, easy to find things, has more than an ample variety of brands/sizes, the service is always great and I personally think these things matter more to me than having an overwhelming selection of high end brands of which I'll most likely never buy anyways? I love the second floor here -- it's basically all women's clothing and you can pretty much walk the whole floor picking out what ya like to try on. There are several dressing rooms and cashiers, with rarely a wait for either. I dunno.. I guess I s/b happy that all the naysayers are going to SCP cuz it makes it easier for me here at Main Place. ;-) read more

Well it's the end of June and I just canceled the order bc it never came. After countless emails and numerous phone calls saying our order delivery date was delayed again and again and again. To keep it simple, I'll divide this review into two sections. Positive ----------- I needed a couple of new shirts and a gym tank, so I headed to Macy's for some light shopping. I must have come at the right time since there was a pretty sweet store-wide sale going on. After scoping out a few things, I settled on a couple Marc Ecko shirts and a Puma tank. These three items came out to a total of $28! I was happy since the Puma tank by itself usually retails $20. Negative ------------ While I was walking around the store in search of my ultimate find, I was approached by one of the sales associates. The young lady asked me if I needed help finding anything. I politely responded that I was finding everything just fine. As I started to walk away, she retorted "Ugh, well, are you going to pay for those?". Admittedly, I became a little irritated at this point. I felt as if her question was not only rude, but totally out of place. I responded that I would gladly pay for the items once I finished shopping. Again, I started to walk away, but turned around when she said "Wow, you don't have to be rude, I'm just trying to help". Well, that's ironic, isn't it? I was pretty mystified by her behavior, so I just walked away without saying anything. I thought about telling one of the managers, but was feeling kind that day. I would give this place 0 stars based on service. However, I did score a pretty good deal, so I'll bump it up to 2 stars. read more

It's 9:45 pm a week before Christmas. This time of the year is always crazy with Christmas shopping especially with these unfortunate circumstances. Erika from the fragrance department went above and beyond with my shopping experience at Macys. I went in with the expectation of not finding a fragrance that I have been desperately looking for but she made it possible. She found the perfume but it wasn't in stock so she went above and beyond. She saw that it was in stock at another nearby location and went ahead and called the store to ask if it was still available so that we could go and pick it up for the next day. Erika made this possible and she will be the reason why I am gifting that perfume to someone who has been actively looking for it. read more

I don't know why or how this Macy's has such a bad rating. I've never had any trouble. I usually just come here to look at the home section on the 3rd floor and occasionally buy some kitchen items. They don't have much up there anymore but they still have a nice selection of dinnerware and other things. The second floor is for women and kids so I'm never really there. I also always go to the first floor just to look at the shoes and at the suits. I like the Jockey underwear they sell. Staff is almost always really friendly. There does seem to be a shortage of staff at checkouts often. But I don't mind. I'm rarely in a hurry. Really good prices, too. read more

I can see why the rating for this location. All locations honestly. Did the curbside pick up & I've been waiting for at least 30 minutes before I called them. Employee who answered the phone asked me if I checked in which yes because that would be very stupid of me to park & just EXPECT them to know I'm outside. She just said umm ok I gave her the steps I took to check in & got a "we'll send someone out with your items" it's been 10 minutes since that. This is ridiculous. If you're going to offer curbside you have to have someone who prioritizes curbside. The vehicle that was in front of me left about 15 minutes ago & shortly after I got here a car parked behind me. They shut down curbside at 8p. I've been here since at least 7:20p. read more

Broken escalators, long checkout lines due to staff shortages and the galling "parking only for pickup" spaces (there are a ton) is off-putting however, this store does have a good selection of merchandise and sales so it's a mixed bag. This was sent to Macy's over their American Express Credit Card as a platinum card holder. As a platinum card holder ... I am informing you that I closed your account over a $2.00 CHARGE and threatened by the person who closed it that if I close it I may never be able to open a credit card again with Macy s. Just to let you know you can review my account and realize that you lost lost a good paying customer. My problem I had was on the 15th of October I literally spoke to an agent there because I wanted to pay my balance off and the website would not allow me to do it. Your representative said that she could pay the balance off for me which she supposedly did. Today I received another notice informing me that I owe a $2.00 balance for a late fee. I asked her to pay the entire balance off on the 15th. I don t care if you wanted to charge a 25.00 late fee, but when I ask you to pay a balance off it should be paid off. I don t need a petty little bill for 2.00. Also your smart remarking representative today had me so aggravated that she pushed me over the edge and I said close it and I may choose to never purchase from Macy s again because of her attitude. Obviously a platinum member doesn't mean a thing to you and it s just another gimmick to keep people purchasing from you. You lost a good customer and right before Christmas comes when I spend a lot. I will buy elsewhere and also will let people know what I think of Macy s customer service. I was sad when I heard how many Macy stores were closing however, now I see why and you will just be replace with a more customer friendly company that wants people to spend money. I decided to wait a few days before yelping. And I figured if I still felt strongly enough about my experience there then I would. It's been a few days now and it still bothers me. My husband and I walked into Macy's as soon as it opened at 10 am this past Saturday morning. I went to shoe department while he shopped in men's. I received horrible service by the young stuck-up sales girl that was there. I wish I would've gotten her name. But I can pick her out of a line-up. She barely spoke or acknowledged me. She kept disappearing and I was the only customer in her area. And i had to chase her down to get her attention. Her poor communication skills and unhelpfulness turned me off completely and I decided not to buy a pair I had tried on. I left them at the register and walked out. Went into the mall and bought two pairs of shoes at a small shoe store. Service was so much better. I don't know why I'm surprised every time at the crappy service i get at Macy's. These young kids with shitty attitudes that don't know how to speak is why I mostly shop online. Maybe store's management doesn't care since it's going to close next year for the new development. This place is a great place to shop at. I stopped by needing a gift and I wanted to be in and out of Macy's. I knew exactly what I was looking for. I parked fairly quickly and walked over to Macy's. The layout of the Store is fairly easy to get around and it feels like a brand new store. It's spacious and it looked very well organized which I liked. I walked over to the the perfume department and I already knew what perfume I wanted. I was looking around and a young lady came up to me offering help which was nice. She sensed my urgency because she quickly went over to the perfume I was looking for and was very knowledgeable. I was going to purchase just the perfume itself, but she told me that for the same price I would be able to get a free gift which was a Ralph Lauren Bag. I was sold! I thought I would just get the perfume but who doesn't want a free gift. She took me right to the register and quickly rang me up and I got a $15 off coupon for my next purchase. I was in in and out in about 5 minutes and I was on my way. I loved my experience at this location. read more

Do no by furniture here. This is the second time Macy's has failed us in the furniture department. The first was when we bought a sofa for $ 1800 and the sofa was defective. The feathers would come out of the seat cushions and poke you. The would even cause my 16 month old to bleed. Now we recently purchased a king bed frame. I looked nice and seemed well made and at a great price. We paid $120 to have it delivered and assembled. When it showed up it was a queen size. We had to call to reschedule which due to my wife and I working wouldn't be for another week. It was a huge inconvenience for us to reschedule the bed and we had thrown our metal frame away so now we are sleeping on the floor. At the very least we felt they should have covered the delivery coast but no. So we canceled the order and will probably never go back. read more

If there was a negative stars, I would choose that one. Be careful when you call in for a return or exchange, their customer service (that is very hard to understand) will give you the run-around and promise you something that they won't. I bought a 'truck load' of towels; bath Sheets, bath towels, hand towels, and wash cloths, for my new place. They had great colors and the price wasn't too bad. After washing all of the towels, before use, in the gentle cycle, cold, and minimal laundry soap, I noticed a couple of large snags on two of the towels. So i called customer service and was told that they would send out 2 new towels in exchange for the damaged ones. Perfect. So I waited...and waited...and waited. Nothing. Until I got an email threatening that if I don't return the (damaged) towels (exchange) they were going to charge my card again. Hmmm... I called CS and asked if they had any information about the exchange, I never received my towels in exchange for the new ones or instructions of how to exchange them (label for mailing or walk them into the store), just the email. I got a girl that I could barely hear with a very heavy accent, difficult to understand. I mentioned the situation of not being informed about the status of the exchange. she didn't understand how I was explaining it and I continually found various ways to explain it to her. She put me on hold, for about 5 minutes, then a man (also with a heavy accent that was hard to understand) came on the phone. She didn't hang up, just put me on hold, our phones here at work have the timer on them so it is displayed how long a call lasts. I had to start all over with my explanation and numbers, etc. He was very sarcastic and even snickered at one point when I (again) explained the situation. He told me that I received a credit for the towels and I need to return the damaged ones. At the time of my initial call for an exchange, I was never told that those towels were not in stock. Never told that. It was supposed to be an exchange, not a return. I never received any communication about the status of my exchange until the email about returning my damaged towels. I don't have time to sit on hold and talk to various customer service people so for me to even call is not usual. I'm pretty easy going and let a lot of things slide and find the positive in a situation. But to be snickered at, put on hold excessively and pass along is uncalled for. Come on!! The first place that I'm going after I get my MA degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology is to walk into Macy's and offer my services to clean up their customer service call center. Obvious retraining or termination is definitely needed there. Has anyone else had anything like this happen to them? read more

Generally, I really like Macy's, but I've been consistently unimpressed wth this particular store. First, I never seem to find any good merchandise here. What's worse is the customer service... The staff is usually completely AWOL, or totally unwilling to help unless you happen to be in their department, and they have nothing better to do (and they usually almost have something better to do) :-( read more

This review concerns two employees. Tom: I encountered him in the shoe department. He was helping my sister. I, being bored observed my surroundings. He is the most patient, well mannered, energetic worker I've seen in the store. One of the best workers I've encountered in retail. When I say energetic I mean he was helping multiple customers at once while making each one feel special. I almost can't describe him. He wasn't in your face, energetic, "Hi! How can I help you!?!" Honestly he's perfection. Working as a manager in retail, I'm quite judgmental when it comes to the customer service I receive and I can honestly say he is everything! In case there's more than one Tom working or for some weird reason he has the wrong name tag, I'll give a physical description. He's Asian (I think. I'm really bad at guessing ethnicities), tall (I'm short so everyone looks tall to me) and his hair was gelled (maybe). Daisy: Keep in mind that may not be her name. It's been awhile. I'll find out and update. I met her in the beauty department. I have very dark circles under my eyes and have tried for years, yes years to find a good concealer and foundation for my uneven skin tone. Long story short (I've used what little energy I have on Tom) she helped me find the perfect concealer in the exact brand I prefer in a short amount of time. She's stellar! read more

Came to this Macy's for the first time, as I just happened to be in the area and I witnessed what was by far, the poorest display of customer service if I've ever seen any. One male employee (wearing red jacket) in the men's section, seemed bothered at the fact that I asked him to point me toward the children's section. Then, while waiting in line to check out, I painfully witnessed a female employee (Karen), also in the men's section, be overly rude to (an elderly) customer that was asking to cancel his recent application for a Macys card. She rolled her eyes at him several times... then, after getting customer service on the phone for him, she continued to shove a pen in his face asking him to sign, while he was still on the phone with customer service.
