This review concerns two employees. Tom: I encountered him in the shoe department. He was helping my sister. I, being bored observed my surroundings. He is the most patient, well mannered, energetic worker I've seen in the store. One of the best workers I've encountered in retail. When I say energetic I mean he was helping multiple customers at once while making each one feel special. I almost can't describe him. He wasn't in your face, energetic, "Hi! How can I help you!?!" Honestly he's perfection. Working as a manager in retail, I'm quite judgmental when it comes to the customer service I receive and I can honestly say he is everything! In case there's more than one Tom working or for some weird reason he has the wrong name tag, I'll give a physical description. He's Asian (I think. I'm really bad at guessing ethnicities), tall (I'm short so everyone looks tall to me) and his hair was gelled (maybe). Daisy: Keep in mind that may not be her name. It's been awhile. I have very dark circles under my eyes and have tried for years, yes years to find a good concealer and foundation for my uneven skin tone. Came to this Macy's for the first time, as I just happened to be in the area and I witnessed what was by far, the poorest display of customer service if I've ever seen any. One male employee (wearing red jacket) in the men's section, seemed bothered at the fact that I asked him to point me toward the children's section. Then, while waiting in line to check out, I painfully witnessed a female employee (Karen), also in the men's section, be overly rude to (an elderly) customer that was asking to cancel his recent application for a Macys card. She rolled her eyes at him several times... then, after getting customer service on the phone for him, she continued to shove a pen in his face asking him to sign, while he was still on the phone with customer service. ****Fragrance department**** I am blown away by the level of service Jesse provided us. Our experience was amazing. Jesse is very knowledgeable in fragrance. He explained very well the meaning of the making of each perfume and personality of the maker. It's virtually impossible for me to get out of this store without buying something. The shoe guy, he's got my number. If he sees me walking by, he makes a point of showing me a shoe that he knows that I will like. The thing is, I just do not have room in my tiny flat, or my tiny budget for new shoes every week. I have a thing for scarves too and they usually have something on clearance or on sale. Usually, the gals behind the counter will find a coupon for an extra percentage off if I ask them nicely. Same thing goes for the sparkly costume jewelry, I usually find something that calls to me. Upstairs in clothing, there are the sales racks where I often find good deals. Recently, I found a leather jacket that was regularly priced at $395.00 on the sales rack, 60% off and then I asked if they had a coupon. Somehow, after all was said and done, I ended up paying $89.00 for this butter soft jacket. I don't know how they did that math. Yeah, people, I'm a fan! read more

A friend of mine bought a dress at South Coast Macy's but decided she wanted to return it. Instead of driving all the way back to Costa Mesa, I suggested we head to Main Place. Big mistake - and a total waste of time! We trotted into this Macy's and headed upstairs to the formal dress department. The downstairs dresses are juniors dresses (just in case you got confused). We passed by four unmanned registers before we finally found one that had a sales associate. "Hi, we'd like to make a return on this dress." The old lady gave us the once over before taking the dress, still in its plastic garment bag. She tore open the plastic and retrieved the dress. After splaying it on the teeny tiny counter, she began to scrutinize the dress. For some reason, she decided to check the zipper. She zipped it down, and it got stuck on the shirring by the waistline. After a few more failed attempts, she asked, "How in the world did you try this dress on?" "With difficulty," we replied, laughing. I offered to help her, as she seemed really intent on pulling down the zipper, but she abruptly declined my assistance, moving on to the inside lining instead. After tsk-tsk-ing a few times, she coldly said, "I can't take this back. It shows obvious signs of wear." Uh. Negative. It did not show obvious signs of wear. "All she did was try it on," I protested, as my friend was too shy to speak up. "What 'signs of wear' are you talking about?" "See these wrinkles on the bottom here?" she said, pointing to the elongated wrinkles that lined the inner satin. "These are signs of wear." "No, ma'am. You see, the sales associate shoved this SUPER LONG gown into a PLASTIC GARMENT BAG that was TOO SHORT for the dress. So obviously, the bottom got wrinkled. That is not due to wear." Still shaking her head, she said, "Well, you should take it back to where you bought it from, then." "So you're saying that I should go back to South Coast?" After nodding in the affirmative, she managed to go on explaining (or complaining, more like). "This branch doesn't carry the higher end lines." Duh. I can see with my own eyes, thanks. "If I took this back, I'd have to sell TEN dresses just to make my money back." YOUR money? What, you OWN this Macy's? Since when did Macy's become a franchise operation? Tired of her tsk-tsk-ing, we just took the dress back to South Coast - where we had NO PROBLEM returning the dress. Customer service says a lot about the quality of a certain business. Whether I return it at South Coast or Main Place, it shouldn't matter. So long as it came from Macy's and goes back to Macy's, it shouldn't be a problem. Obviously, this place hires subpar sales associates who do not give two hoots about providing excellent customer care. Had she (a) not given us the once over as soon as we began to speak, (b) not nitpicked over the zipper for a good five minutes, (c) not used a figurative magnifying glass to examine every GARMENT BAG CREATED wrinkle, and (d) complained about taking "expensive" items back at "her" branch, I might have walked out with a smile. Unfortunately, I walked out with a scowl. If you carry a crappy selection of goods, the least you could do is have proper and professional sales clerks who refrain from refusing returns based on made-up claims. Psh! read more

Dont you hate those people who wait until the store is almost closing to try on clothes and buy them? Well, that was me today. My review is mainly for the lady in the ladies sections register. Wish I took her name! Hispanic, long black hair... she was so patient even though the lights were already half off, trying to help me get a discount even though I was using a gift card and my macys card had to be reactivated... long story short, she had to stay an extra 20-25 minutes and never gave me attitude. After losing about 40lbs over the last nine months, it was time to buy some new pants. My wife had been telling me I need to go get some new pants for work for a while. The straw that broke the camel's back was my female boss telling me I needed to get some new pants because mine were way too baggy. Unfortunately, the boss did not offer to have the company pick up the tab for the new duds. Macy's has a particular brand of slacks I have purchased in the past. They seem to fit and wear well. So, I decided I would check Macy's first to see if I could pick up a few pair. Unfortunately, I was not able to find the pants I wanted. Macy's had the same brand, but the quality was not the same. I asked a salesperson about this, and he informed me the pants I wanted were no longer being made by that company. Bummer. I did find one pair of pants here - basic black wool. Other colors were not available in my size. I will say that Macy's has good prices on men's slacks if you shop a sale. I paid about $55 for my pants marked down from $125. Not a bad deal if they last me three or four years. read more

In my opinion , Sales Associate's are very push over at the perfume and cologne section , in particular a older male Hispanic associate, that happen to run that particular day. He asked if I needed help after I responded I was ok a second ago, he said to me, "if I was sure I didn't need any help". Not sure if this is just how all big stores are headed, but if you have to return something you have to walk past empty 8 check out counters (with multiple employees standing without guests) to wait in line at the one return desk (with 30 other customers wanting to return items). This makes customers spend all their time returning and then feel too bothered to want to shop for anything. This is killing my desire to shop here again and feels like a misuse of staffing since there are multiple registers empty at the "return center." It's not a staff shortage, it's a poor management choice that doesn't value customer time. read more

Okay i come here bc i live like 15 mins away i do live closer to south coast but mainplace is my go to bc if i get hungry i can head to the food court grab a snack and continue shopping. Anyways you never get greeted here its like those tv commercial where the couple is in a home department store and if you need anything you go on a savenger hunt to find them and when you actually find and employee they say Im from fertilizer. Lol I came here to buy make up and i headed to the benifit section. There were two employees one girl and a guy. The guy helped me the girl obviously didnt want to. I got match for my skin tone and he got it right. Only problem was i wanted to know more about the products they have and the guy just wanted to ring me up. I went to the blush section and the guy realized i wanted to spend money to he came back to me and showed me a new blush which i did purchase. I paid $120 for two foundation and a blush he gave me a free sample of the its real mascara so thats why i am giving them two stars. I then walked to the anastasia section and lord the girl working there completely ignored me. Guess what with out ppl buying stuff here you wont have a paying job The employee suck and quick to judge forgetting where there paycheck come from. This review is for the fragrance department, since I wouldn't buy anything else from Macy's except maybe some pants. They've completely remodeled this location (at least the 1st floor...they still have some work) and it looks great! The store has finally entered the modern age. Their selection of colognes is bigger than Sephora and Nordstrom and the employees are friendly, especially a blonde lady named Lori. She actually spent some show me different colognes and making suggestions. However... I went back to the store one week after initially writing this review and guess what...they didn't have the cologne (Gucci Sport Pour Homme) I was looking for that I had tried on at Sephora. What the hell?! And none of their other stores have it either. So I went straight to Sephora and bought it even though I still have a stupid Macy's gift card. Conclusion: go to Sephora if you're looking for cologne. read more

BEYOND FRUSTRATED and DISSAPOINTED with Macy's customer service. Ordered approx. $700 that was never delivered and we filed a Police report as Macy directed. After months, it now appears Macy's is actively creating a sham regarding mail order, given dozens of Macy's people participating in run-around, holds, and transfers rather than addressing Macy's failure to deliver. Worse by ignoring addressing concern, and refusing to explain. After weeks and several 10s of hours of run around by Macy's, Macy's states it will take a few billing cycles to get reimbursed what any other .com would immediately address. (or) After two months, I followed-up: After repeat of hours of run-around, holds, and transfers, Macy's stated it would not reimburse as promised. I asked to have escalated to someone who cares or would address; however, after hours of long holds, run-around, and multi transfers Macy's again puts call on hold for over an hour (possibly hanging up, since no return/follow-up call). I will re-post as my continuing effort to find someone to properly address and confirm Macy's policy when it fails to deliver to client. read more

I have been standing here exactly 25 minutes on the counter of the second floor women's department, trying to do a return. There were only 2 people in front of me. 25 minutes and still I cannot seem to get service or even at least be acknowledged by the lady at front desk. No acknowledgement and no back up for service. So one of the gifts mom got for her 80th was a Macy's gift card so I took her to go get some stuff at Macy's and at check out this pushy cashier lady (who had just pawned a gentleman over to her partner because of a language barrier that he truly did not have) keeps asking if she wants to apply for a Macy's card and I tell her no thank you a few times. So she insists one more time and I tell her that my "comadre" got my mom a gift card and that she was just there to purchase a couple of things.....she says "oh, whats that..." I look at her and say....."where's THERE...." she says...."where YOUR people are from.......down SOUTH..." my jaw dropped and I told her "what makes you think I'm from down south?" She says because you used one of THEIR words .....(mind you this woman is totally Hispanic and in denial) I proceed to tell her that I'm not from "THERE" but that I'm from an island in the Caribbean that is part of the US (Puerto Rico) that speaks the same language as "THERE"...........I followed up by saying..."I seriously didn't even think you spoke English but here we are....‍" In this day and age and with so much racism going on how can she?! Her coworker and the Hispanic gentleman were floored. We all were! Got mom in the car and filed a formal complaint.....if you're ever in Mens....her name is TRISHA......I'm livid! Last January I had a huge function in LA, instead of getting my make up done, I bought new make up from INGLOT.. Get home with my new products.. TWO out of the THREE Items were wrong.. "That lamp scares me" "It just makes me feel like smoking a bowl at a hookah bar" The conversation of two 20 somethings in this ancient Macy's that "creeped" my friend out. The whole lay out is SO f*cking confusing. I was mostly there for the Benefit counter but getting out of the joint was a task in itself. I was returning a pod of creme eyeshadow that was not creamy, but flaky and rough and the sales associate there told me she couldn't exchange it without a receipt or the box and I asked her why she couldn't just X out the new box, put my shit eyeshadow in it, and give me the new one out of it. She went to talk to a manager who told her to see if I had used my Macy's card - I did. So then she said she was going to "Research" my account and see if she could find the purchase on there. She proceeded to match my color and make up my entire face which she did a good job at and then we proceeded to the counter with the $$ make up I was buying from her (They do make money off commission on top of their hourly rate). After she saw that I wasn't there to rip them off and saw that I was spending money, there was no "Research" needed and my shit eyeshadow was placed in the new eyeshadows box and X'd out. This is Review for Specifically Clinique, the girl named Yessania has no business working customer service. She's very disrespectful and rude. Doesn't like to answer any questions about products. And then when asked if a product is in stock she literally pretends she's checking to tell us it's out of stock, really because I had just looked online and it says in stock! Second after she went to help another customer, I asked another lady who helped me and was so sweet and sure enough what I needed was in stock. Clinique should really have secret shoppers to check on how this girls is with customers. Because of her rude attitude I'll drive to another macys. People don't care anymore about customer service and being polite. It really does go a long way. When I arrived at the EDUCAUSE 2010 conference in Anaheim, I discovered that something had spilled on my dressy conference-floor-appropriate attire in my luggage and I needed replacements at least for that first day. I headed to this Macy's and especially appreciated the assistance of Jai Sawhney, a sales associate in the Men's Suits department, after being kindly directed to him by another Macy's employee. I appreciated the efficiency, accuracy of estimated and measured fit, and being steered to quality clothing selections that met my needs while also being deeply discounted (or, at least, on sale down from Macy's full prices). All in all, while I normally shop around a bit more for clothing, in a pinch, I had a very positive clothing shopping experience here. read more

This place is horrible. I walked through the entire store twice and didnt see a single employee. Not one. The selection here is pretty poor, but the store is very small. What really I am giving the store 1 star for though is the fact that it was dirty and nasty. I have seriously never walked out of a macys thinking it was a thrift store like I did to this one. The floor looked like it hadn't been cleaned it about a month, the racks where so unorganized I would have thought I was at Ross, and everything is shoved in such small spaces that while everything isn't that close together (because there isn't that much stuff) it seems very cramped. Buyers Beware!!!!! They talk you in to their charge card only to set it up so you immediately get a late charge of $25 on your purcpase-no matter how small. I had a $50 purchase that now cost me $90 because they send out statements at odd times of the month when people normally pay their bills the first of each month. their customer service is horrible and the service reps that I am sure are from another country answering the phones do not do anything to help you. do not shop there -- it's bad enough that you can never find anyone to help you while in the store. just wait to you try to resolve an issue. read more

The Macy dept. store as a whole is good in general, but the lonely sales rep. in the men's casual, and suit dept. is a jerk. To make a long story short, just because a custoer doesn't fit your normal criteria, doesn't mean they aren't going to spend some money. we were well prepared and willing to buy some shoes, dress socks and a few dress shirts, but the minute my husband asked the sales guy a question his snoody response was enough to let us know what kind of customer service we were about to receive from this particular location. my husband was dressed down, reg. ball shorts, ball cap, and a shirt but apparently that was not good enough. jc penny here we come! read more

This is the worst Macy's ever. I love Benefit/Clinique makeup and on more than one occasion I have had terrible service/experience. All that want to do is sell sell sell so... if you want to return something they treat you like crap. Also, they try to give you a Macy's store credit even if you have a receipt and you used your debit card. I have been done with them for awhile now but today I thought I would give them another chance but it was a major fail. (note: i have even spoken with management and they are always taking the employee side regardless of the situation) Skip the trip to this Macy's and head over to South Coast Plaza or Brea for a much better experience. read more

This review is strictly based on the lens crafters in Macy's. I have had better customer service from Walmart optical. I have worn glasses since I was 7, and I'm 39 now, so this isn't my first pair. I have a hard time finding frames I like. I tried every other store in the mall looking for frames before I wound up at Macy's. I went to Macy's to buy skin care products, and was pleasantly surprised to find a lens crafters there. After looking for hours at the other spots in the mall, I was pretty surprised when I found a set of frames I liked in Macy's. Really great cause I'm long overdue, and getting ready for a wedding trip, so one more thing checked off the to do list, great! So, I order my glasses. I was a little surprised when lens crafters told me it would take 7 days for them to get the order, since generally lens crafters takes an hour, but fine, I like the frames, so whatever, worth the wait. Total was just under 300$, for frames and lenses. 7 days later. No call. I call them, only to be told they are not in yet. Ok, when? Not sure, we'll call you. Ooookkkkk... that was Saturday. I figure they prolly won't get them Sunday, and Monday is a holiday. I figured I'd hear from them Tuesday. Nope. So I call Wednesday. Irritated by this time. They tell me they are in the mail, should be in today. I get a text finally, on Wednesday, to tell me my glasses are in. I go to pick them up, and they hand me a bag... here you go, have a nice day! Are you kidding? Wire glasses with nose pads... no adjustment? Even sunglass hut automatically adjusts your new sunglasses, and I wear mine 24/7! I asked if they were going to adjust my glasses, they both piped up, " do they fell like they are going to fall off?" No... the guy could tell I was disappointed, so he looked behind my ears and said they looked fine. I have never pulled a pair of prescription glasses out of a box and had them fit. This is no exception. I've had a head ache since I left the store. I had to put my contacts back in to drive home. The new glasses are squeezing my head, and slipping down my nose. Once I got home and looked in the mirror, I can see that they are not even, on the top of the frame one eyebrow runs right down the middle, and the other side sits just below it. These people don't care, I felt like I was intruding on them while I was shopping as it seemed they'd rather talk to each other than adjust a clients new glasses, (ie rather than do their job) I just thought I would share my experience as I can tell by the lackluster response to being so late delivering an order that it must happen frequently. It seems they maybe took 2 people off the Macy's sales floor to sell glasses; those 2 could sell glasses, shoes or vacuums, it wouldn't matter they didn't seem to have any knowledge or expertise in what they were selling. I prolly could've gotten better service at Walmart, and sadly, have. Im glad I didn't order contacts thru them, as they were almost 30$ more a box (a third more!!) than the place I got my eye exam. I wish they would've had these frames, I would've much rather bought them anywhere else. Had I known better, I wouldn't have bought them there. Won't make that mistake again. Oh, and my prescription hasn't changed, so that is not why I have a head ache. I just put my old glasses on, and the pressure in my head is diminishing a bit, but the headache remains:( I hope they made my glasses right. Shopping for a new mattress can be stressful and exhausting. It's a big investment that you'll be living with for the next 10 years, so finding the right one for you is really important. Working with Alexus made this experience exceptional. She was extremely knowledgeable about multiple mattresses, never made us feel rushed or stressed. She encouraged us to come back and test out the bed we liked a few times before purchasing so that we would make the right decision. She was very professional yet made us feel like family. Usually, malls and department stores are better in Orange County than elsewhere. Not the case with this Macy's. I don't think this Macy's has renovated in the last couple decades and this store can only be described as pathetic. Last time I went here, it did look like they were combining the men's store and women's store but that wouldn't change much. and if that's not the case, well, both stores are horrible anyways. If you want to go to a Macy's, head towards the Costa Mesa or Irvine stores, not this one. read more
