GETTING HERE: Located at the Pacific View Mall on Mills Road. Next to the Wood Ranch side of the property footprint. REVIEW: I am way overdue for an updated review for Macy's. I'm not really sure where to begin except Macy's continues to go through a lot of growing pains. I guess that is to be understood since we're in 2025. I'm glad that they're still standing! But the service is a few and far between as there's nary an employee within eyesight. This visit was rough because I was looking to buy a new handbag and they no longer have the inventory of what they once had. I used to be able to spend hours in Macy's perusing all of the different departments. That's in the past, sadly. RIP to the Macy's of yore. On this visit, I did see that the men's department had pretty good stock and I found a couple of shirts that caught my eyes. #encouraged If you have some time to kill and wanna look around at some things in person, then I definitely recommend giving Macy's a shot at the mall. So my main reason for shopping in Macy's is for the makeup counter and for discount dresses. I love going to the MAC counter if I need to find some foundation for those rare cases I go out somewhere fancy. The makeup cashiers are very helpful in finding me foundation that works for me - and bonus points, MAC products don't break out my skin. Also, if I want a new dress or shoes, Macy's has a ton of choices and many are discounted. I know I'll find something I like and it'll probably be a good price. Unfortunately, I rarely find shirts or jeans I like here that aren't full price. I've looked through their clearance racks before, but I rarely find something I like. Additionally, they don't seem to have many fitting rooms. Depending on the time of the week or type of day you come, I find that I oftentimes have to wait before I can use the fitting room. However, I'm happy to check out what's going on at Macy's and try to find a good deal. read more

I came late at night around 8 PM. Men's side it's two stories kind of confusing. They have a decent selection, but not as rich as some larger Macy's such as the ones in Salinas and Monterey . Easy access and plenty of parking. However, the lighting is not strong outside like some other malls. They have Florsheim shoes brand. Still decently priced at $125. I bought it in Saudi Arabia for $120 in 2006. read more

Heartbreaking. I grew up in this area and spent hours, years shopping at this store when it was "The Broadway" It used to be a glorious place. Then Macys came in. This store used to be manicured, decorated, and clean. Now it's overstuffed and gloomy. Walked in today and thought OMG! What happened??? It was like walking into a Twilight Zone episode. The floor was weathered and very dirty. Unkempt. I wanted to try shoes on but guess what? There were no sales associates assisting customers. And good luck finding a register to pay for your items. The sales associates dress inappropriately. Not a good image at all, just mess upon messes. For sure the glass display cases haven't been replaced looked like maybe for... 30 or more years? Is it about to go belly up? It was ghostly. I did find plenty to buy and the sales were great. I dunno, just wish somebody would take the time to polish this old gem back up to life. Buyer beware buyer beware when you buy online at Macy's. It may be from another low budget company with a very high price tag on it. I purchased two dresses for my mother's funeral when in a size 12 one in a size 14 to make sure that I had a beautiful dress to wear, the quality was poor it was thick heavy material. When I went to Macy's to exchange it, they said I'm sorry but you bought it on our online and it does not belong to Macy's. We will mail it in for you, but it may take 15 days to get your refund, in the meantime, the 29% interest rate is racking up. The dresses look like they came from temu. horrible quality clearly abate and switch from Macy's and this is so disappointing so do not buy online Macy's without reading the fine print. I am sure online shopping has been a challenge for Department Stores but during the holiday season, I would have expected so much more. My wife and I bout a mattress and all new bedding from the Macy's in Ventura CA a few years ago. We spent a good chunk of money and had a great experience. We decided to go back and repeat things for a new mattress and bedding for a new home we are moving into. We arrived to find that no one was working in the mattress or bedding section nor would be for several days. There was a sign saying "go to the register for help". There was one kid working a register with a very long line at 11AM. He tried to radio for someone to help him and the person on the other end was resistant. Eventually, she came and then told us to wait five minutes for someone that should be starting their shift soon. The lady walked away. We waited (I even set my stop watch). I was shopping with my mother when a woman by the name of Rosa a fairly old woman told me I had to leave the woman's changing room (there's no sign that says woman's it just says "Fitting Room"). She said it was the woman's fitting room and I wasn't allowed to be in there. I am a transgender woman and this is something that has really impacted me and making me feel invalid. After I explained my mom was trying something on she still said I had to leave. Macy's please put your workers through better training. I'm not asking for special treatment because I'm a transgender woman but rather treat me like any other woman. It's nice to say that I've never had a "bad" customer experience thus far at this location. The only thing I wish was different is the overall selection for the Juniors clothing section. It seems like every time I come into the Juniors section, it is always a hot disorganized mess. I almost always slip on a hanger or piece of clothing hidden on the floor below the rounders. Not only is this unsafe is just simply annoying. And the fitting rooms?! Ugh, there's always a mound of left over clothes that previous shoppers leave. This obviously falls more on the previous shoppers, but the Macy's employees should also maintain the fitting rooms in between ringing up folks at the registers. I've worked in retail and I know how crazy it gets, but it's all 'bout time management and organization. Again, There needs to be better brand selection and better organization in the Juniors Department. The shoe department is definitely lacking team associates. It's really hard to locate someone to help you find your shoe size. The workers already helping customers always seem so busy, so there is a long wait for someone to help you. This is the same experience in the jewelry department. It always seems like there isn't enough to team associates to help you. With this all said, be patient while shopping at this location because it seems like they aren't staffed enough. *Huge plus: Great return/exchange policy, if you aren't happy with the product or simply changed your mind about it. read more

We purchased a lady's coat for a special occasion. when we got home and opened the bag, we discovered that the security tag was attached to the coat. We called the store manager and explained that it's not easy for us to go back to store again, I mean why should we? their mistake, right? why should I spend additional time and gas money for they carelessness? If you have to return any merchandise from Macys they may give you a gift card for your return balance. The problem is the gift card will expire if not used in timely manner and will have zero balance on your card. The store will not help you and they only will tell you to contact customer via email in which they will never respond to you! So in the end you will only be stuck with a useless gift cards even though state law state that gift cards have no expiration date. read more

The Ventura Macy's is not up to par. I've been to many Macy's and this one I do not like. I can never seem to find the "regular" sized items in abundance. Maybe put out a sign where all the "regular" sized items are instead of them all over the place? I can find petite and full size and even a surf section which I don't want. Put the surf section in a surf store and put more inventory out with Macy's brands like JM and Style & Company. The Karen Scott line should be taken out forever. It is the worst line of clothes. Not one item is ever flattering on me and it just makes you look older. Please put out more JM, Style & Co, Alfani and even Charter club. When I go to this Macy's, I never find anything I like. Then I go up to Backstage and all those items are like I'm shopping at Ross. I think this location needs a complete upgrade. It's not the Macy's I'm used to as I'm new to the area. I am so disappointed. I've been a loyal Macy's shopper for at least 25 years. They used to have a wonderful reputation for Customer Service, and it was well deserved. Unfortunately the poor service I received from the agent at 800-289-6229 regarding an online order shows me that they no longer care about their customers. I held for over ten minutes before reaching an agent. I understood this, as it is December 4th, the beginning of the Christmas shopping madness. However, the agent lacked basic customer service skills, telling me in the first sentence that he was very tired but had to give me good service anyway. Whaaat??? When he couldn't answer my question I asked to speak to a Supervisor, and was cut off. I called back and held for another 14 minutes before deciding to just return my items and cancel my card. Just left Macys womens clothing department. My husband watched 2 ladies bring a dog in and allowed the dog to pee on the flooring/carpet. My husband alerted an employee and showed her where the pee was located. Employee acted like it was no big deal and allowed the ladies and dog to continue and shop. Disgusting! My hunny wanted to stop by Macy's to look for a birthday present for a friend. We only had a few minutes before she had to get to class over at Ventura College. I wont tell you what we got (you never know the birthday girl might be reading this) but when we got to the department we needed something from we noticed a cool package deal of the exact thing we were looking for. Jamie wondered out loud how much it was and one of the employees named Debbi overheard and answered without us even asking. She helped us get exactly what we needed and also let us know that there were some freebies with what we were getting. She was seriously amazing...we were in and out of the store in 15 minutes and we had exactly what we wanted and a little more for the same price. What can one say about the Ventura Macy's that hasn't been said already? For this customer it's like most stores in the Pacific View Mall, catered to the uber thin waif and anyone from the size 14+ gets the short end of the stick when it comes to merchandise selection. Macy's itself came to Pacific View in 1995, taking over the long standing department store "The Broadway" which had been a local staple since 1963, being that I shopped at this store and once worked there in my early twenties I knew the set up of the store quite well, I'm surprised that while Macy's has made some aesthetic changes, it quite frankly looks like a worn shoe being held together by duct tape. Being that Macy's is a high end department store, I would expect more in respect to making the store meet the standards of the Name MACY'S, but per the norm for Ventura, we get the left overs and it shows, they have never even updated the escalator. They have an excellent accessories section, and have great sales on bags all the time, the shoe department is pretty nice too, though the sales aren't as good as they once were. Customer service wise the store is hit or miss depending on what department you are in, I was treated rather poorly in the jewelry department, I was shopping for my Moms birthday, and the woman treated me like a pauper, what did she know? I could've been a ready made billionaire, but she prejudged...no tip for you!. These sales clerks need our sales as they have a daily quota to fill in order to meet the requirements of the store, so if they don't get the sales, they find their numbers down, and that's not good. The cosmetic counter is a cluster of loud music and sales clerks trying to get your attention, if they could turn the music down a notch and hold off on trying to sell me they get more business from me, I've taken my business to Sephora in the last year or two. And word to the wise, do not get the Macy's AMEX, interest rate is ridiculous, I don't care how good those $25 reward vouchers are, it's not worth it. read more

I went here to buy gentleman's clothing and this review is entirely based on the service I received from a legendary employee. Her name is Daffney and she works in the men's suits department. She is basically Edna from the Incredibles, she knows suits and has a "no bs" approach. If you need to look sharp but are easily offended or need pampering, then go somewhere else where little boys shop like Hollister. If you are a man that needs to dress to impress but don't know how to match colors or sizes, then consult Daffney. read more

Last Fall I took my Teen in for a makeover to celebrate back to school. We ended up spending over $100 on just a small number of products (3 or so) and the person who did the makeover said that she would make a database of all of the products that were used in the makeover so we could go in and purchase more items when we had the time and money. Today I went back in to replace one of the items we had purchased, and it turns out Macy's does NOT keep a database for customers despite what we were told. Since I let the teen throw away the empty product because I was confident a database existed, we cannot even re-purchase the item (which the Teen really liked). We also cannot purchase any of the items that were used in the makeover, which were color matched to her skin and which we would have splurged on for a special dance or other event where makeup would be used. The only option is to re-do the makeover and I guess store all of the information in our OWN folder, at the cost of $50 for the makeover plus the products. Totally frustrated with the whole situation, I decided to go get a fragrance to make the trip worthwhile (we do not have high end chain stores in my town so I had to make a fairly long drive). When I got over to that counter, they were not carrying Michael Kors, which is a signature scent they promote heavily . The only version they had was a new M. Kors variation they were trying to promote but which had obviously not caught on. They had one new employee manning 4 fragrance counters, who did not know anything about whether or not Macy's had discontinued it or why the display cases were pretty much empty. When you go to a store like that, I feel like the least they could offer is good customer service and at least keep some of the basics in stock. After the long drive, I felt very frustrated to walk out empty handed. The fragrance is only carried in that one store in this area-and maybe not even there any more. For a high end store, the customer service was appalling (there were maybe only two or 3 customers in that entire area at the time so it wasn't like the 5 or so employees in that entire section were overworked-most of them seemed to be visiting with each other). Retailers complain that people should shop in their stores, and then make it such a frustrating experience it works out to a complete waste of gas to drive there. No wonder so many people order online. read more

I went into Macy's with my mother and while she was at the clinique counter ( they were very nice to her) I went to look at the handbags. No one acknowledged me...was it because I had on a sweatsuit? There were three Latina women there and they assisted the woman at the counter but never did they ask if I needed help. (I was looking for a Vera Bradley duffel) One of the women came from the back and asked the woman if she was being assisted looked right at me then proceeded to go into the back. I was pissed, so I found a manager in the perfume area and she listened, tried to help then took my number but I never heard anything from Macy's. An apology would have been nice. Today my husband walked in to Macy, with three pairs of 501 Levi jeans. He had received as a Christmas gift. The pants were to big & needed to exchange for a smaller size. The associate behind the counter refused to help him. She said she would need a Receipt to be able to do the exchange. My husband explained to her that they were a Christmas gift& he did not have receipt. She made him feel like they were stolen basically Stereotyping him. Because he is hispanic w/ a bold head. We have been platinum holders with Macy for many of years & have never had an issue with exchanging. I'm considering closing my credit card. Very disappointed in their customer service. read more

So sad to write this I have been the biggest Macys fan my whole life Been coming here since I was a kid and just continued the tradition as an adult. I hold their platinum card and shop there a few times a week! For our anniversary my husband wanted to get me some nice earrings so we went to Macys of course. The first pair $1400 broke within 2 days- it happens I guess maybe not everyday wears. So I went back and exchanged them for another pair. These were great for 2.5 months then last night they broke out of no where. The backing was still in my ear. I took them back today to see what to do and I had the worst experience. The manager( didn't get her name) short long black hair took forever to try to find my transaction and then tried to argue with me the price I paid for the earrings. At first I started to engage with her about the price even though I know what I paid, then I had to stop myself because what was the point? I didn't want my money back, I love the earrings they were a gift! I just want quality backings on an expensive piece of jewlery! She literally said to me well you didn't purchase the extended warranty ... seriously you don't think as a manager of jewlery that it should last more than 2.5 months WOW ! Sorry Macys no more jewlery purchases from you ! And do you train your managers ? I've never had an issue in over 30 years where I needed to talk to a manager so disappointed in the first time. This review is for the Clinique counter. There wasn't anyone there to assist me for about 10 minutes. I literally said loudly, "Anyone here?" Someone from a makeup counter across the store came to help me out. They were nice but didn't have a clue where my requested item was. Apparently it was out of stock. I also had a coupon for a FREE lotion since I'm a valued Clinique customer and it was OUT OF STOCK also! I ended up purchasing my Clinique items at Sephora next door. read more
