I was so excited to see a storefront since I am such a big fan of their food and wow, they did not disappoint! I legit forgot to take pictures of the savory foods because my bf and I devoured it cause of how good it looked and smelled. The fried chicken dumplings were SOOO delicious. It was very flavorful, had a nice crunch, and the cheese inside was a really nice touch. The cilantro aioli sauce that they gave on the side was straight up crack! I had to ask for two extra cups cause of how good it was! The longanisa dumplings were good too! The combination of the sweet and salty longanisa and sour and spicy sauce on the side just made it perfect. We also got the very vegan dumplings and it had a really nice flavor. I liked the shiitake mushroom on the inside The bulgogi fries and the pork belly rice were amazing as well. The fries were perfectly crispy and the bulgogi had a lot of flavor! Paired really nicely with the sauce on top. Pork belly rice was great! Pork belly was tender. Also, I'm coming right back to sauce. I swear that cilantro aioli sauce, you can put it on anything and it will make it taste amaaaazing. We also ordered the Oreo cheesecake dumplings for dessert. (The one shown on the pic) I liked dipping the dumplings into the chocolate dipping sauce and the dumpling itself had a good cheesecake taste. We also ordered two drinks. The lychee limeade combination was amazing. It wasn't too sweet and I liked how there was actually lychee bits on the bottom! The blueberry tea was also really good with blueberry bits on the bottom. (Also not too sweet) Overall, this experience was great and I'm excited to come back again! My sister and I tried Mad Dumplings this past Monday as they recently opened at UTC. Since we had never tried the Mad Dumplings food truck before, we wanted to try most of their flavors and ordered a 6 pack of each the Vintage, Fried Chicken and the Longanisa as well as the Mix & Match Combo of Pork Belly Rice and 4 pieces of The Mac. They unfortunately do not allow you to mix dumping flavors when you order 6. We ended up waiting for about 20 minutes for the food to be ready after ordering, but would expect most wait times to be shorter as we ordered a lot of food during the middle of lunch hour. My favorite of the dumplings was probably the Fried Chicken, which was reminiscent of the chicken bakes from Costco. The Mac was also pretty decent, but it just tasted like fried mac and cheese, not a dumpling. Of all the flavors, the Vintage tasted most like a classic dumpling, but was on the dry side. Finally, while it wasn't bad, the Longanisa was probably my least favorite. For the mix and match combo, I thought it was probably a better value than ordering the food individually if you do plan to order multiple things, but I was underwhelmed with their Pork Belly Rice. Overall I didn't think the food here was bad, but it did disappoint relative to my expectations given that they're a pretty popular food truck. They were out of the beyond dumplings when I went here (a few options were out actually) but I got the veggie fried rice and the beyond mapo tofu tots (large)! The mapo tofu tots large was definitely big so I could have just gone with the small. Delicious but the beyond was in larger meatball-y chunks and I would have preferred a more "ground" meat texture in my mapo tofu. The veggie fried rice was simple but so yummy! Lots of white pepper with egg, green onions, cabbage, and shiitake. I wish there was a bit more cabbage and shiitake but hey it's only $4 for quite a bit so I'm not complaining too much. Everything is very affordably priced. They also gave us some wonton chips with cilantro aioli for free! So nice! There was plenty of nice seating outside too (it was a tad windy though). read more

The fried chicken dumpling 7.31/10- made from chicken pepper jack cheese and dusted with corn flakes. Tasty but honestly a bit too deep fried for my liking. I didn't even get to taste the chicken up until two bites in due to the fried layer. Also not super warm. I really enjoyed how they also had the melted cheese inside, that made it taste really good. The dumpling also tasted so much better with their chili oil. Pork belly rice bowl 5.67/10- this is a smaller portion since it's in the student combo but by smaller portion I was not expecting only 6 tiny pieces of meat and mostly rice. It was also cold which was so disappointing. Lacked flavor too especially for pork belly which is one meat with lots of flavor normally. I literally used an entire sauce container of chili oil to make this taste better and I'm sensitive to spice. However the huge amount of chili oil helped so much and honestly made it a 6.43/10 rating but I was still disappointed. I was super excited to try out this new dumpling spot that opened at UCI as I saw it was a vendor at 626 night market. I was a bit disappointed due to the temperature of my food mostly. I'm sure their other dumplings are good though as they sound yummy. I got their student combo which comes with 3 dumplings and a choice of either bulgogi or pork belly rice dish for $8.00 which is a really good deal honestly. For the price, I wasn't expecting such a large serving! This was a pleasant surprise, and the actual dish itself tasted really nice. Very refreshing, fried rice was made well, and the sauce that they put on top of the meat was a great compliment to the overall dish. The meat itself, though, probably could've done with a smidgen more seasoning, and there were some parts of it that were just hard to separate with a fork AND hard to chew, which isn't a great combination for a Bulgogi bowl. The lychee jasmine green tea was also a tad disappointing. The lychee flavor completely overpowered the jasmine olfactory bits, and even upon opening the cup, I couldn't smell a hint of it. Possibly, the brew was just one that steeped for too long, but regardless. I'll give it another try (eventually). read more

This was such a fun and unique place to try. Their variety of dumplings is unlike any other. We tried all of them, which wound up to be pretty expensive. Service was pretty slow, and unfortunately, the chicken was not cooked through all the way. The rest of the items were tasty, and definitely fun to try. Yes sir! I saw this place on Yelp. I'm always in the area. And I wondered what it's like. So I gave it a try. Omg in so glad I did! Off top, let me say that service here is great. The restaurant is small. Maybe like 10 seats max. But plenty of patio dining. The menu is easy to navigate. I already k de what I wanted because of the yelp photos and reviews. I got the six pack. 3 fried chicken and 3 longanisa. Both were bomb! Next time I'm trying the pork and rice with the hot chicken dumplings. Price is fair. $10 for 6 dumplings. Decent size. I had seen that this new place went in recently and I like to think that I have a decent idea as to what a tasty dumpling is. This particular evening I was in the midst of a Chloe Kim style "HANGRY" situation and logic kicked in and said, "MAD DUMPLINGS!!!" Makes sense to me, and I was really glad that I did. The smell of cooking dumplings alone was enough to begin to restore my faith in the universe...I ordered the student special with the Mac and cheese dumplings and spicy cilantro sauce. Then had to go ALL IN with a "chaser" split order of Traditional and Linguisa pork dumplings. Those came with a standard vinegar based dumpling sauce and a really tasty Hot and sweet chili dipping sauce. I can easily say, these aren't your father's dumplings kids....and they're DEFINITELY NOT like kicking back in the dorm and macking down a bag of Ling Lings dumplings from the frozen food section. THESE ARE MAAAAD DUMPLINGS!! And they are incredibly delicious. The Mac and cheese dumplings have a crunchy exterior kinda panko like with bacon bits. The spicy cilantro sauce is freaking awesome with these. And I definitely can't say enough good things about the Traditional and Linguisa pork dumplings. Both are wonderful and completely fulfilling. My Hangry appetite was quickly satisfied and I easily had 3 dumplings and half the rice left for the next day. BTW, just throw a damp towel over the microwave safe container and steam everything for 2-3 minutes and you have perfectly reheated dumplings as delicious as the day/night before. My friend and I checked out this new restaurant in UTC that opened in late April! We shared the student combo (and chose the fried chicken dumplings and the pork belly rice bowl) and the bulgogi fries. As the lady told us that waffle fries were not available, we modified the order and got tater tots as the base instead! The pork belly rice was quite underwhelming, as the portion size was small and the pork belly was dry. The rice was also unevenly cooked. Especially since it's one of their popular dishes, we expected more and would give it a 2.5/5. The fried chicken dumplings were interesting in a good way and reminded me of a tinier version of costco's chicken bakes. As for the star of the show, it was the bulgogi tater tots, as the portion size was huge and tater tots are always delicious. The bulgogi was a bit dry, but overall, the dish was a 3.5/5. Mad Dumplings is usually at the Irvine Farmer's Market on Sundays. I love to stop by at the end of my shopping to enjoy some of their waffle fries with sriracha aioli on top. Their food truck is the one that always seems to have the longest line compared to the others at the market, which is probably a good thing lol. Their waffle fries are crispy and delicious and fresh. The sriracha aioli on top is the perfect addition. I haven't tried any of their other food items, but given the line they always have, I'm sure it's good! read more

We really love dumplings of all kinds and have tried many different dumpling restaurants in Irvine and were excited to see what this one was all about. The menu is short and unique, with a mixture of different Asian flavors and interesting dumplings and rice bowl options, including combos. I shared two combos with fried rice, bulgogi, and pork belly between the three of us, including the vintage, longanisa, fried chicken dumpling flavors. Unfortunately the rice was undercooked, a little hard, the dumplings were strangely flavored, the bulgogi was dry and seemed to be shaved beef not even chuck which was surprising because this place looks really good from the outside. The decor is trendy and bright, and the staff were friendly and offered suggestions for us first-timers. The best dumpling was probably the fried chicken, but it was pretty much a panko chicken nugget with cheese inside. Overall, we wouldn't recommend it. There are better dumplings in Irvine. read more

I asked the cashier for his recommendation and he suggested the longanisa, which I tried. I liked the filling, nice and sweet but I did not like the density of the dumplings, they were dense and rubbery. Same thing with the rice, overall our dishes were room temperature and almost cold. Did like the flavor and cheese of the famous chicken dumplins, love the fusion and creativeness of the flavors as well as that they have local beer options. I just didn't get great first experience, the last knock was they were playing great music up front and they you can also hear as loud music in the back with profanity and my daughter was in the restaurant with me did not make sense to hear the dishwasher's/dough folder's playlist as we tried to enjoy our family meal. read more

I love this place. The dumplings are creative and delicious and I love the bulgogi rice. I used to come here years ago when it first opened and I loved it. Post-COVID, I noticed portions started to get smaller, and it was clear they were struggling through inflation to meet costs so I didn't visit again. I tried it again recently, and I remembered how much I enjoyed the food, and I support them trying to reduce costs on the packaging, bags, etc. instead of on the food. I have tried this place 3 times and the food is generally good but they keep messing up my orders. First time was good and i got my stuff. Don't get the bulgogi waffle fries though, the meat is like minced meat and very dry and flavorless. The fries were good but you can't go wrong with a deep fryer. Second time I came, they gave me freaking raw rice. I know what rice is supposed to be like and it is not supposed to be hard.
