ahhh....no. The vegan dumplings and Veggie Rice combo I ordered was quite greasy and rather pedestrian. The filling in the vegan dumplings had no flavor whatsoever and where soaking in a vast amount of oil. I should not be surprised at the extreme blandness of my food as this was a Dumpling shop in Irvine CA..not Gaungzho Province or Hong Kong or even mid Town New York. One employee working during this period (dinner rush on a Saturday) is probably not the best move 3. After running 5k the day before and drinking bone broth for lunch, I was MAD HUNGRY. I didn't think the $8 student deal would be enough so I got the combo with vintage dumpling and bulgogi waffle fries. The dumplings were pretty good, but the waffle fries were just calories to me. The fry to sauce n meat ratio was too tilted towards fries but it was still good. They have some sauce and chili paste out on the counter if you want it. Tried all the dumplings except for the vegan ones, and I like the ones that look like normal dumplings the most! They're super flavorful and are packed to the brim. Was really excited to try this place. Came in on a Saturday night for dinner. Food took around a little over 20 minutes to come out, which I was not impressed by. Lychee Limeade was sweet and syrupy. Pork belly was dry,flavorless and fatty, had no seasoning and no taste. Bulgogi rice was bland and unremarkable. The longanisa dumplings were too sweet and drenched in oil. Terrible. Forget sitting inside, most of the tables and chairs are right below the air conditioning vents. Save your money and go to Northern Kitchen or Gogi Grill. Stay away. A couple of years ago, I came to this place with some buddies for lunch, and I had the Fried Chicken Dumplings. I didn't think about it too much at the time since I was pretty hungry, but they were egg washed and battered before frying. I am severely allergic to eggs. My friends had to go get me a gallon of water to chug, and I spent the rest of the day either on the toilet or considering going to the hospital. Coming from Texas I never tried Mad Dumplings but wanted to give it a shot. The first location I tried was in Irvine and it was amazing! Everything was cooked perfectly and my favorite was the Mac and Cheese and Longanisa. I had to try the location in Long Beach and being open recently, there was a good crowd but all the staff was super helpful and kind. The food also did not disappoint. They were a bit too salty for my liking and I've had longanisa before on its own not in a dumpling and enjoyed that which is why I thought I'd like them in a dumpling. We both ordered a beer, the hazy they had on tap. Discovered this when they had their food truck at Downtown Disney a couple years ago. It's one of my go to food trucks at the Irvine Farmers market. Was super excited for them to have a brick and mortar store at UTC. Perfect location for college kids. Jealous of the UCI kids since I didn't have that type of variety when I was there. As an anteater, I really looked forward to this place opening in such a convenient area. Not to mention that I'm a really into dumplings. I had high expectations but was throughly disappointed with the food. I thought the prices were slightly on the higher end. The fried rice was severely undercooked and lacked flavor (although the picture may suggest otherwise) . The dumplings aren't that bad, I tried all of them and admit that the standout option is the Longanisa. But have your water ready as it is pretty salty. Mediocre "Asian Fusion." The prices weren't obnoxiously unreasonable but for a place named Mad Dumplings, you would think their dumplings had something special to offer. I ordered the Longanisa as it was one of the most popular options, but I will not be reordering as they tasted worse than any frozen dumpling you could buy in bulk from a grocery store. The creamy sauce wasn't necessarily the greatest taste (think sauce that you find over tempura crunch california rolls) and was at times overwhelming the tater tots and rice bowl. hi, i usually love getting food at mad dumpling, but i had a terrible experience with the customer service when i went today. first, i went in for their happy hour and the cashier did not believe me when i pointed out that it was from 2-5pm, telling me to wait till 3 pm before I could order. then, after i had ordered the 3 dumpling sliders for $9 happy hour deal (and even used my reward points to receive $5 off on my total order), the staff informed me they no longer had the buns for the sliders, and thus could only give me the dumplings on their own. Since it was happy hour and the fried dumplings were 4 for $6 during the happy hour, I asked if I could receive extra, but the cook who came to talk to me was only willing to give me 1 extra dumpling (I should have at least gotten 2, if they actually cared about doing the math right), claiming they would be losing money if they gave me any more, even though when the next customer ordered the 4 fried dumplings happy hour deal, they got it for only $3 as I saw on the cash register??? Make it make sense, mad dumpling, cause now I'm a mad customer who will not be returning until I receive some sort of reparations. read more
