The managers (or maybe owners) greeted me immediately and since I was unfamiliar with the restaurant, gave me a menu to peruse and space to do it The prices are higher than other restaurants serving tbe same dishes. I only ordered the fresh spring rolls (rice paper) with shrimp and pork. For me, this has been an indicator to other Vietnamese dishes at places I've eaten before. They arrived quickly, and with the dipping sauce and chopped peanuts. Fresh ingredients and large rolls. Overstuffed with lettuce - too much - and not enough noodles a protein. The sauce was runnier and sweeter than the typical sauce that comes with this appetizer. Not sure I'll return with mid-tasting rolls and higher prices. But I'm glad I stopped in. read more

When you are craving pho, and don't want to make the drive to Little Saigon/ Westminster, PhoTasia is a decent place to go. We got the brisket/tripe Regular bowl for $16.65 and a Large beef pho for $17.65. Pretty hefty prices for a bowl of pho, but it's Irvine so the price of rent is understandable. They do load up the bowls, so the meat and noodle ratio is good. The broth is clear and the pho is flavorful. 4 stars. We also got the B12 Vermicelli combination bowl with grilled chicken, grilled shrimp, and egg roll for $19.95. The bowl was a good size although it was more than what I am used to paying in Westminster, with the selection of restaurants. It was standard and nothing special. I did not like the shredded vegetables in it. The grilled chicken was a little bland, the shrimp were well-seasoned but small (and there were only 3 shrimp), but the egg rolls did not taste fresh or flavorful. 2.5 stars- There was a lot of msg in the fish sauce, which left me very thirsty after the meal. I would not order this dish again. The appetizers were expensive and did not look appealing to me. The picture of the chicken wings looked good so I may try that in the future. Service was good and they seated us right away. The food came out fast and piping hot. There is a lot of seating inside and a few seats outside. The restaurant was pretty busy when we came on a Friday. Overall 3.25 stars. Come back for the phoʻ? ONLY... and maybe chicken wings (which I need to try). Happy eating! read more

The good: I came here after going to the pumpkin patch across the street. I had a pho tai chin (size small) and 3 banh mi empanadas. They have a large outdoor area and adequate indoor tables. I was skeptical about the empanadas but they were great because the dough wasn't that thick dry empanada dough but it was more of a flaky, buttery/greasy pastry dough. The inside was pate and cha (pork patty) and cilantro and pickled veggies were served on the side. It came with an jalapeno aioli dipping sauce. I thought it was creative and fun. I tried a passion fruit lemonade too that was sweet and tangy. The service was prompt and they had a lot of workers. The food came quickly and the workers knew to give me an empty bowl and scissors because I came with toddlers. They had interesting drink/che/dessert combos. The prices were fair. The bad: I would've liked more cilantro and pickled veggies with the empanadas. The interesting: They had a self-check-in tablet in the front. Pho from PhoTasia on a rainy day completely hit the spot. The beef tenderloin with the garlic butter rice, the shumai and the crispy eggrolls were equally delicious. I want to say the food was the best experience at PhoTasia. The restaurant and the customer service were both fair. Nothing special, nothing above and beyond. There was definitely no service as we had to try and get the servers' attention multiple times during our visit here. I also think there might be language barriers but not a deal breaker. So yummy! The little neighborhood marketplace is very chill and laid back, and there were maybe three other parties within the restaurant while we were there. We were immediately seated, food and drinks were SO fast, and the staff were super on top of it and nice! It's always great to have good local food, especially in residential areas where you can simply enjoy a nice walk in the post-drizzle and enjoy the crisp fresh air before filling up with a big hot steaming bowl of goodness. We all ordered at the same time, but one person got their food immediately while another person got their food 14 minutes later. So, you can say we are loyal customers. It also helps that food is QUICK here. You can guarantee your meal will be ready within 15 minutes. For appetizers, I strongly recommend the truffle banh mi empanadas. Their menu offers a variety of pho options (obviously). I switch between plain and brisket. TL;DR I prefer their sister restaurant Pho Ba Co. First, I didn't like how inconsistent the portions were. We ordered two of the same bowls (P2 Rare Steak); both came to the table at the same time, and one had significantly more broth than the other one did. Like about an inch if you measure by "height". Second, these inconsistent portions were abysmal. I paid about $14.45 for a regular bowl at Pho Ba Co, and I felt that bowl had MORE than the large bowl HERE ($15.65). And the difference between a regular and a large? A joke! It just had like a bit more broth and that was it. Maybe that's where the missing broth went, it came from our P2 order. And third, the taste was just okay. The noodles were a bit clumpy, but it was fine after a couple stirs. Broth temperature could have been hotter, those rare steaks stayed pinkish. I did like the balance of salty and savory in the broth though, none overpowered the other. All is not lost. The pork egg rolls were crispy, crunchy, and tasty.
