This place was a great find for me on my way back from a meeting in Sequim. They have signs and placards letting folks know of their Christian faith. Regardless of your belief, or non belief, this place is worth patronizing. They are nice and kind people running the place. Just enough seafood choices during this season, but I am looking forward to more options soon. I took home a piece of regular smoked salmon. They had sold out of the other two (pepper/garlic and candied). And I got a Dungeness crab already cooked and they cleaned for me. They boxed and bagged everything perfectly to go. Basically, I must say they know what they are doing when it comes to the proper handling of seafood. The salmon was smoked perfectly but just a wee bit too salty, but still delicious. I seasoned my crab and heated in the air fryer for 4 minutes. It was so very fresh and good. They told me that they do their own crabbing and catching, so same day caught seafood is available. I could tell it was fresh because the Dungeness crab was the best and tastiest I have had even though I cooked it the day after I bought it. First bite my thought was "This crab is super fresh". Recommending you stop by and order some seasonal seafood you like. Oh, and if you like dogs their little chihuahua-dachshund puppy mix is named Chevy. We felt lucky to find this little crab shack along highway 101. The owner was a super cool guy, very welcoming even though we stopped by 5 mins before closing. He let us look everything over (no sales pressure) and answered all of our questions. We decided on salmon candy and smoked salmon. Yum...! He has some healthy looking clams, and looking back we should of taken advantage of them! He even had cooked dungeness crab, ready to eat! Looked so tasty it even crossed my mind to eat it on-the-go in the car! He did share with us that best day to come is Wednesdays, the Sunday we stopped he was running low on items but we were pleased with our purchase! read more

We had read the reviews and were on the fence since we weren't that hungry after having some jalapeño crab dip at the Next Door Gastropub in Port Angeles. As soon as we drove past we decided to turn around and we're glad we did. We walked in and were greeted, picked out an already cooked crab (cold) for $11 and grabbed some napkins before heading back a few miles to a real pretty overlook about 3 miles from the shop. We brought out our crab and began breaking off legs - man was it delicious! No butter needed! So glad we stopped, well worth every penny! read more

The customer service at Mad Jax is pathetic. I was visiting some friends who live in town and thought I'd treat everyone to some oysters, crab and shrimp. Apparently under new ownership since the previous reviews. Or, since all of the reviewers were not local to the Peninsula, maybe they did not know what to expect. Being a long time resident, we have always bought our crab from Sonney's crab shop but, for some reason, the quality has decreased to zero. What used to satisfy each person now takes twice as many crabs...at over $8 a pound. Go to Costco for your crab! read more

Haven't yelped anything since moving to Washington state from Virginia but Ivory King Seafood Company (formerly Dungeness Bay Seafood Co) is too good not to share. On the side of 101, it's a little garage with fridge chests of non-nonsense seafood: fish, oysters, clams, shrimp (diff kinds), and Dungeness crabs. We've come twice after scouring the pages (or lack thereof) of yelp & google for a seafood market from Port Angeles to Port Townsend on the Olympic Penn to Poulsbo & Silverdale in Kitsap County for some place that's not a grocery store. This is it folks- the crabs are fresh & fat, the owner friendly & proud of his products (he even let us taste a spotted shrimp- tasted like lobster) and you will feel good supporting a local small biz. I love their spot prawns and visit from Seattle at least once a year during the season. Yesterday I used messenger to contact them before traveling all the way there. Was heading to Sequim and gotten off boat from Port Townsend. Didn't want to get the seafood from Port townsend in the almost triple digit heat while we eat lunch in Port hadlock, so we decided to get it at this small place on our way to Sequim. Got a pound of live shrimp $12 /lb and a dozen oysters. Baked the oysters 2 days later to find that we were shorted one oyster!! Ok, lady next time count carefully. Wasn't worth the hassle to return as our trip time was limited. read more

Was assured by Sonny ,the owner crab had been cooked the day before. 2 Crabs & $36.00 later we tried a claw at home. It had an overwhelming ammonia taste . This carb was days old and not edible. Do not buy crabs from this store unless you see them being cooked! read more

I make a special effort to support small business. I tried to support this seafood shack over other options in town but encountered horrible customer service 2 out of the 3 times I went. I even defended them when some other locals told me they had gotten sick from some crab they had bought from Them. But I cannot any support them any longer. I will no longer buy from them due to horrible interactions and just plain looney behavior from the woman that I dealt with. I was so taken aback when trying to place an order for some live Shrimp and was blamed When they died and couldn't be sold. I was given two options live or cooked, I chose live but was given a guilt trip when they couldn't sell them because they died. I actually was looking for frozen shrimp and told her this initially so instead of them dying i am not sure why they didn't just freeze them. But they said they don't sell them frozen. I was on time etc and completely held up my end of the deal. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried again but three times. And in the end was sold cooked shrimp for nearly 2$/shrimp. After searching Port Townsend for decent seafood and finding none,we saw a sign for fresh seafood on the way back from Hurricane Ridge. This little "shack " had great dungness crab, fresh shrimp and a small variety of fresh local seafood. So far this is this best seafood on the Olympic Peninsula . The owner could not have been more helpful with all his knowledge and tips, loved talking with him. read more
