Had a great experience at Mad Paddle under their new ownership! My family has been coming to Madison for Thanksgiving for almost 15 years now and the former owner was less than family friendly but I'm so stoked to say that well behaved kids are welcome again and I'll gladly spend my money here. I've read others complain about the service but I had no issues. The appetizers we ordered were great and the self-serve beer wall is great. The prices are what they are and this isn't an Applebee's so keep that in mind. I'm thrilled to have a place to land when I visit Madison and so thankful that Mad Paddle opened back up.

Enjoyed coming back to see how new ownership is running the place, and they're doing it well! We stopped in one afternoon after bowling down the street. We were greeted (lots of friendly servers around) and told to sit wherever we wished. We tried the beer wall which was so much fun! You get a card that you can tap to dispense whatever beverage you want - just turn it in and settle up on your debit/credit card before leaving. Beers are priced accordingly (e.g. domestic lagers are cheaper per ounce, imports/crafts are slightly more) and you're totally in control of your pours. It was a good way to sample a bunch of different things without annoying a server, and no waiting, either! They also had other beverages like wine and cider on the wall as well. As far as service goes, we moved upstairs for a little while to watch an NFL game on the big TV and had a few apps to share. We enjoyed the nachos and pickles which were a big enough portion for 4 to share. There were some bar games and board games, and kids are definitely welcome again (just not in certain areas, or too late in the night, I believe). There was even a very entertaining Smashgiving show (full combat armored fighting) going on which we enjoyed watching. Bathrooms were clean, as well. We used to stop in every time we're in town, so we'll definitely add this back to our Madison must-do list!

Our waitress was Brittany with dark hair and she was excellent. Her smiles were so welcoming and she was so anxious to get the food and drink that we ordered to us in a very timely manner. Again asking if there was anything else that we needed. The food was excellent. Thank you Brittany.

So happy to try some local beer while in Madison visiting friends. We loved being able to stop in and have some beer and delicious pizza together! They have some delicious blonde beers and some seasonal variations! I enjoyed a delicious flight, which was very affordable for the value I got! The Nashville hot honey pizza, the Mac and cheese pizza and the BBQ pizzas were wonderful! I plan to come again the next time I visit!

My hubby and I drove to Madison Indiana for something to do on a Saturday. It's a cute town and we happened to come upon this brewery which shares a space with uncommon pizzas. What a great idea!! The brewery has wood barrel tables with games you can play like uno Jenga and more. I ordered the flight with a blood orange ipa blueberry blonde and great mimosa cider. All were fruity and delicious. We ordered pizza who doesn't love pizza with beer. I ordered a Thai chicken pizza with chicken Thai chili sauce sesame seeds. A burst of flavor in my mouth. Yummy. What a fantastic way to spend an afternoon

My fiance and I can never say no to a brewery stop! We were hanging around Madison and had just finished up a hike at Clifty Falls, when we decided the best way to treat ourselves was with beer. This is a cute spot, really close to the water. They have a few places to site inside as well as outside. Although I do like breweries, I can be picky with the kind of beer I like. I pretty much just winged it while choosing the selections for my flight, and I loved all of them! The cider and sour were probably my favorite, and their blonde and blueberry ale were fantastic as well. The staff here were super friendly and this place made for a nice rest stop. You gotta check it out if you're in town!

Dog friendly brewery!! I love anywhere I can bring my dogs. Two halves to this place. You order beer on one side of the counter and food on the other. Bar 2-tops on one end of the brewery and then larger tables on the second side. Originally I thought this brewery did not have food and they welcomed in food from other nearby restaurants but it seems they have since amended that and have pizzas and snacks available on site. No table service, all ordering is done at the counter. Fast service for drafts and a big variety of options and types of beers to try. They have games if you wanted to play and will offer your dogs water and treats as well. Had a fun afternoon hanging out here!

Why would you close at 6:30 during Regatta? Thanks for response. We noted Sunday hours at front door said 7pm so seemed you were closing early on busy Madison weekend?

We were open extended hours during Regatta, on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. We are not sure what day you are referencing was 6:30? We do close at 6:30 on Sunday evenings.

During an early 2025 trip to Washington, D.C., we went to multiple establishments and, coincidentally or not, encountered this specific bourbon and just loved it. The most notable occurrence was at Jack Rose Dining Saloon, where I had literally the best Old-Fashioned I've ever had, using a special Angel's Envy that hung out in some sherry barrels for a while. Since then, we've both regularly ordered it when given the opportunity, and ultimately decided that the best way to appreciate this fine spirit was to go right to the source. So to the mothership we went. My chum did most of the heavy lifting here and scheduled a bourbon tour with Louisville Food Tours (very strong recommend) that featured Angel's Envy at the first stop. It's hard to really put into words what this building looks like as you walk in and explore, but it's just so...nice. It's classy without being inaccessible, and it just felt like a true cathedral of bourbon. As tasteful as the bourbon it makes. During our initial tour, we were probably in the distillery for a solid half hour plus, getting a quick tour of the still and fermenters before being led into a side room on the second floor to formally taste some bourbon. Paula was our guide, both during this tour and later on, and was just enormously impressive, which I touched upon in my review of the official tour as well. She's no-nonsense and loves her bourbon - who can't relate? We learned how to inspect the bourbon in the glass, to take a test sip to numb the pain receptors and to truly appreciate the subtle notes in the bourbon with the second sip. It was legitimately helpful, useful information that we're both going to utilize going forward. After our three-hour tour ended (go hard or go home), it wasn't even much of a discussion - we came back here for a few hours to soak in more of the atmosphere and drink some more bourbon. At this point, it was probably close to 5ish but the place was still pretty busy; somehow we were able to secure spots at the bar upstairs and made ourselves at home. I wish I could remember the name of our bartender (blame the time that has elapsed, not the bourbon), but he was very good, social without being oppressive and was just present and let us do our thing. After sipping straight bourbon for most of the afternoon, I switched to the Bourbon Renewal, which you'll be shocked to know includes Angel's Envy but is a more summer, fruit-forward cocktail and super refreshing. Was the right call and hit the spot. (We also got waters because that's the responsible thing to do.) We finally went back downstairs to the gift shop, which doesn't feel like the right term - it was more majestic than something you'd walk into after going through, say, a museum for an hour or two. It's enormous and offers numerous bourbons and also some very high quality swag. We reunited with our chum Paula and sampled their limited edition two-grain, which was created due to a fortunate mistake in which the rye wasn't added so it's just the corn and malted barley. You CAN see the difference and taste it; to me at least, it's more caramel-y than their normal single barrel. We each bought a bottle to bring back to the homeland. My chum basically bought half the store, but I remained calm/deliberate and my only other purchase was a MAGNIFICENT black hoodie. I'm not kidding - I love hoodies and have probably owned dozens over the years, and this is literally the best quality one I've had. It has this interesting front pouch pocket design with like a pocket within the pocket for high-priority items like your ID or credit cards, and the hood itself is interesting. It's just really good and I wore it all day the next day as we slowly made our way back to the East Coast. It's been washed and carefully placed in my closet, where it will reign supreme when the weather inevitably turns nippy again. It's not an exaggeration to say we probably spent hundreds of dollars (at least not thousands) directly and indirectly involving Angel's Envy on this trip. Worth it.

She was attentive, informative and taught us how to get past the initial burn of bourbon. I much enjoyed the bourbon and the chocolate pairings were a nice surprise. When people think of whiskey in Indiana's Brown County, they might think of that other place. (You…read moreknow the one.) But there is another distillery quietly making small-batch, high-quality spirits in Nashville, and that's Bear Wallow Distillery. Located just outside of downtown Nashville, Bear Wallow Distillery is one of the only female-owned distilleries in the country. They create their spirits in a traditional copper pot still, which I learned is unique. Inside the tasting room, you can enjoy a whiskey tasting or a flight, or sip a craft cocktail and relax in the shop. I chose to enjoy a "Call Me Old Fashioned" standing up at the bar, while chatting with the guy who made me my drink. My Old Fashioned was well balanced, not too sweet and made me feel all warm inside, as a good Old Fashioned should. Those who are interested in learning more about the whiskey-making craft can go on a Farm-to-Fifth Tour, which takes you behind the scenes to learn about the history of whiskey and see the full production process. I did, and I found it very informative! I had a new appreciation for the kind of whiskey and spirits they are making here at Bear Wallow Distillery. From the ingredients they choose to the barrels they use, they really put their foot in it, as they say. If you like whiskey, or just like to try local spirits, this is a good place to visit in Nashville.
