Went today to enjoy a late lunch. The waitress was very nice and helped us so we could make a decision on a beer to have. The blood orange beer was very good. Similar to a blue moon. We order two appetizers, fried pickles & bruschetta, as well as 4 entrees, three Wellington burgers and a BLT. The fried pickles were good. The burgers and BLT were decent. But the kitchen was struggling to get the bruschetta out. We had already finished our burgers when we told our waitress just to forget about the bruschetta. We were ready for our checks. Our waitress, who was extremely nice about it since we had already waited 45 minutes for the burgers, said that's fine and if it came out, she'd put it on the table, but take it off our tab. Made sense to me as we had only ordered it with the expectation that it would be an appetizer. Just before the checks arrive, a different waitress brings over the bruschetta. We weren't hungry anymore, but we're going to put it in our to-go box so as not to waste it. The owner, or maybe general manager (she was in a green shirt) then came over and said she'd give us the bruschetta for 50% off. I was confused. It took over an hour for it to come out and we had already asked them to keep it in the kitchen and take it off the tab. I said we'd rather just not pay for it. She very abrasively said to me "So you'd rather me take it back and throw it away?" Clearly taking her frustration out on me from the kitchen. I said I didn't want to pay for it. So she quickly grabbed the bruschetta off the table and said she was just going to throw it away. The whole interaction just left a very bad taste in mine and my friend's mouths after the staff themselves had been nice despite the struggles from the kitchen. read more

Had a great experience at Mad Paddle under their new ownership! My family has been coming to Madison for Thanksgiving for almost 15 years now and the former owner was less than family friendly but I'm so stoked to say that well behaved kids are welcome again and I'll gladly spend my money here. I've read others complain about the service but I had no issues. The appetizers we ordered were great and the self-serve beer wall is great. The prices are what they are and this isn't an Applebee's so keep that in mind. I'm thrilled to have a place to land when I visit Madison and so thankful that Mad Paddle opened back up. read more

Enjoyed coming back to see how new ownership is running the place, and they're doing it well! We stopped in one afternoon after bowling down the street. We were greeted (lots of friendly servers around) and told to sit wherever we wished. We tried the beer wall which was so much fun! You get a card that you can tap to dispense whatever beverage you want - just turn it in and settle up on your debit/credit card before leaving. Beers are priced accordingly (e.g. domestic lagers are cheaper per ounce, imports/crafts are slightly more) and you're totally in control of your pours. It was a good way to sample a bunch of different things without annoying a server, and no waiting, either! They also had other beverages like wine and cider on the wall as well. As far as service goes, we moved upstairs for a little while to watch an NFL game on the big TV and had a few apps to share. We enjoyed the nachos and pickles which were a big enough portion for 4 to share. There were some bar games and board games, and kids are definitely welcome again (just not in certain areas, or too late in the night, I believe). There was even a very entertaining Smashgiving show (full combat armored fighting) going on which we enjoyed watching. Bathrooms were clean, as well. We used to stop in every time we're in town, so we'll definitely add this back to our Madison must-do list! read more

My hubby and I drove to Madison Indiana for something to do on a Saturday. It's a cute town and we happened to come upon this brewery which shares a space with uncommon pizzas. What a great idea!! The brewery has wood barrel tables with games you can play like uno Jenga and more. I ordered the flight with a blood orange ipa blueberry blonde and great mimosa cider. All were fruity and delicious. We ordered pizza who doesn't love pizza with beer. I ordered a Thai chicken pizza with chicken Thai chili sauce sesame seeds. A burst of flavor in my mouth. Yummy. My fiance and I can never say no to a brewery stop! We were hanging around Madison and had just finished up a hike at Clifty Falls, when we decided the best way to treat ourselves was with beer. This is a cute spot, really close to the water. They have a few places to site inside as well as outside. Although I do like breweries, I can be picky with the kind of beer I like. I pretty much just winged it while choosing the selections for my flight, and I loved all of them! The cider and sour were probably my favorite, and their blonde and blueberry ale were fantastic as well. The staff here were super friendly and this place made for a nice rest stop. Dog friendly brewery!! I love anywhere I can bring my dogs. Two halves to this place. You order beer on one side of the counter and food on the other. Bar 2-tops on one end of the brewery and then larger tables on the second side. Originally I thought this brewery did not have food and they welcomed in food from other nearby restaurants but it seems they have since amended that and have pizzas and snacks available on site. No table service, all ordering is done at the counter. Fast service for drafts and a big variety of options and types of beers to try. Mad Paddle was not originally included in our Madison Day Trip plan. In fact, we didn't even know about it until we walked past in on our way from one winery to another. I like trying new beer as much as I like trying new wine, so I suggested if we were still on our feet after the second winery that we stop at this brewery on the way back to the car. The good news is that we were! And the fella was happy to oblige my whim! It was early on a Saturday afternoon, and they don't *really* serve any food, so it wasn't particularly busy. (They have a very pricy "required by state law" menu and some very small snacks.) Inside, it is bright and industrial looking, with a lot of seating areas. There is also a large patio area out a side door. We opted to sit inside at the bar in order to see the menu for my flight and for comfort's sake. I believe the cost of a flight depends on what you choose to be among your selections. I think my flight cost around $11 with an extra sample . The beers I got were interesting and tasty! The XXX dark chocolate stout was sweet and full. The Wicket blood orange blonde ale was delicious. I got a couple other brews from the home location, but I also got a couple guest taps. The Flamingo Dreams nitro from Left Hand was really interesting. And the Zombie Killer from B. Nektar Meadery was my favorite, just because I love sweet ciders and meads. Nice, well run small town brewery. We went on a Saturday afternoon. I had a blood orange beer and my husband had a cider (his was not brewed here). Both were very good. Blood orange pretty sweet but an interesting finish. I really loved the ambiance. A lot of history and nice indoor / outdoor seating. You can have a dog outside only. I thought Indianapolis was the land of craft beer but I was wrong. After a random trip to Madison for the weekend, we decided to check out some local places. My host for the weekend suggested here and I'm glad she did! Located in historic Madison on a corner you'll find mad paddle brewery, they had a food truck on the outside which I always love then brewery's have that as an option. The inside is simply decorated and clean, you can sit at the bar or different tables as options. The bar tenders are very friendly! I enjoyed the conversations I had with each and the recommendations that they gave. I tried all the in house beers and each were delicious! I love that they had what I consider short pours so you can enjoy all of the flavor but not get tanked. Mad paddle also has a ton of games! I actually learned how to play dominos. We were camping at Clifty Falls for a few days and this was recommended to us as we are huge craft beer fans. The space is super nice and large! They allow dogs on the patio and INSIDE! I was shocked to learn my pup could be inside! We ordered pizza and two flights for beer. The beer was pretty good! I was bummed they didn't have an Octoberfest on draft yet as it was a week into October. But I did try their stout that was pretty decent. Their Doritos pizza is really good! I thought it would be weird, but I ate almost the entire pizza. The reason for three stars is they didn't seem to be taking too many Covid measures. They had several people walking around without a mask and the General Manager even carried my flight out to our table without his mask on! He introduced himself as the GM and offered to take my beer and I thought he would put a mask on but he didn't. It was awkward. I understand it's in a small town but you just never know who you're helping and their perspective of our currently reality. I really enjoyed this place! Lots of drink and food options for patrons of all ages. Games available. Tons of space. We were there on a Thursday night and there was live music out on the patio. Several different beers on tap. We had a few flights to try all the different ones. They have a juicy IPA that was my favorite. The pizza flavors are very different! We tried the doritos taco pizza (6/10), the garlic honey chicken pizza (8/10), and the mac and cheese sausage pizza (8/10). We enjoyed all of the pizzas we tried. Its nice that you can just get personal sizes and try a few. The waitress was telling us that the Sweet Piggy is one of their best sellers. We will have to try that when we go back. The people were all very nice. The space is an old feed facility. It is very cool. This is a perfect place to come after a long day of hiking at Clifty Falls! read more

Really a nice little brewery. Great for kids with the attached hall with long tables and benches. The beer was very good. The 3 turns session IPA was one of the beer sessions I've had.
