Walked in to pub at airport, sat ourselves at a dirty table, waited 8 minutes with no acknowledgement from staff. Got up to place order at bar and tried to grab attention of staff member walking by (for the 5th time), and asked if we order at the bar or does someone.....I didn't get to finish my question as she snipped at me, I'll be with you in a moment, we are extremely busy and go ahead and sit at the bar if you want. She came back, took our orders and off she went again. Yay! Good times. Thanks for making the start of my vacation so pleasant. Insert sarcasm here. Tables were dirty, the three staff I saw were not welcoming and if unhappy with their jobs or how busy they can be with travelers, take it up with your employer. Flights will always be coming and going. To offer a pub in an airport, staff appropriately and with expectations that there are time constraints. Watch for extra tax and service fee added to bill. They serve good enough food especially for an airport but they do not act like they are at an airport. Very slow service, inattentive waiters, takes forever to get food or even beer. People here have to leave in short order but they act like it's a lazy Sunday brunch instead. read more

Being an airport location, the kitchen staff needs to greatly improve and be faster. It started out good with our server who got our drinks to us rather quickly. We waited over 40 minutes for our food - nothing. We had to cancel the food order because we didn't want to have to inhale it in 10 minutes. And it wasn't all that busy when we were there. I was treated rudely by an unpleasant staff member, and she also rushed my order. Food is also terribly portioned for the price (even for airport food), and the cheese curds were too small and salty. Mad Town seemed to be the most normal part of an odd airport. We were taking a flight from Madison to Orlando that got delayed, and at 5:30 PM on a Saturday evening, this was the only sit-down restaurant still open (and it closed at 6 PM). As someone who flies frequently, this was one of the earliest-closing experiences I've encountered. Our server, Cheyenne approached quickly, offered beverages, and took our order. Since we saw negative reviews about some of the sandwiches, we went with the wings and a chicken Caesar salad, and were pretty pleased. Drinks were refilled, and we were on our way just as they closed up. Sure, it was a couple of dollars higher than a non-airport experience, but not obnoxiously so. We were flying out of the airport late at night and this was the only restaurant still open around 5:30. Service was actually pretty good from our waitress. The food also came out pretty quickly. I had the chicken Caesar salad, and my husband had the Korean barbecue wings. Both tasted good and were good portions. read more

Tuesday 4/15 11:15am... Can only speak to the service at this point, it's non existent. Walked in to multiple workers hovering around the bar area chatting away. No one greets you, tells you they will be right over or gives you any indication you exist despite walking past you plenty of times after you sit down. Finally got up from my seat (in the middle of the restaurant) and walked out. You would think on a slow Tuesday with roughly 5 other people in the entire place they would be happy for the customers. Instead it was clearly an inconvenience for them, having an additional customer come in and sit down. The food here was not that great. For the burgers the bun to meat ratio was completely off. To much bread! The coleslaw on their chicken burger tasted like salmon!? It was so weird.....and unnecessary?! Wonder if they have some cross contamination in the kitchen. The other not so sexy part of this place was the prices. You always expect food to be a bit pricier at the airport but this was just ridiculous. I payed almost $50 for cheese curds, chicken burger and a soda...and the quality wasn't there at all to top it all off. I would not order food here again or recommend this to any of my friends. I found an open seat here at Mad Town Gastropub in the MSN airport during the early evening. Besides having a refreshing drink, I ordered the Korean chicken sandwich with chips and coleslaw. I'm normally pretty understanding of airport restaurants, but this one just isn't all that great. We knew we were in for a bad time seeing the servers running around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to keep up with the customers, the label on the menu at the front indicating the ramen was out and the sign indicating we should seat ourselves, but it got worse. The tables have QR codes on them linking to a menu at the airport's website. That menu is out of date, and contains quite a few items which are no longer available. A burger and fries here will set you back $24. Single pre-frozen patty. No cheese. If you're in a pinch, it's alright. Taste's ok. But be prepared to wait a long time for your overpriced beef, as Mad Town is seriously understaffed. Eat here only in a pinch. read more

A nice spot to grab a drink while you're waiting for a flight. I've been several times and it's pretty decent. The service is good unless they're really busy, which is common for any airport bar/restaurant. They don't have a great drink selection. As big as the restart is, they only have 4 beers on tap and a few wines. They do have a full bar so the cocktail options are decent if you know what you'd like them to make you. It is pretty expensive for a drink, which again is normal for an airport. However, a Spotted Cow in a small tulip glass for 10 dollars is really steep, especially for Madison. I do love the atmosphere and the service so I'll continue to go back when at the Madison airport! read more

Good airport bar/food for flight. Is it expensive? Not for an airport. There are nicer places in large airports - Minneapolis, Denver, Dallas - but those are all airline hubs. Great tasting food, good local beer, friendly servers. As most (at least half) of meals are covered by expensed reports, it is not surprising. It is expected. Food came quick, so a meals can be grabbed before a flight. Just another positive experience here in Madison. read more

Service is great. Don't get the grilled cheese. It's literally one small slice of cheese and not grilled or pan seared at all. Bread was white as can be. No butter or anything. Just warmed bread and a thin slice of cheese. Madison is a small airport and not too many full service places to eat on the air side. Lots of burgers and they would sub the patty for a veggie patty. The sauces in the burger were awesome but missed not having caramelized onions and tomatoes (maybe I picked the wrong type of burger). Chips on the side by default and they were Okish (but you can sub them for other sides for an extra charge). Not the most vegetarian friendly place but nice accommodating wait staff. A burger here sets you back by $18 bucks, so not exactly great value even for an airport. read more

Stopped in for breakfast before catching a flight home. I was surprised and thankful that they open at 4:30 am...thank you! Many airports have early morning flights, but the restaurants don't open to serve the early morning passengers. I ordered the breakfast plate with eggs, sausage, toast and hash browns. Everything was very good. The hash browns had too many peppers for my personal taste, but were still good. The service was good...thanks Pat. The server who works mornings (heavyset girl) is the most inattentive person I have had the misfortune to encounter in years. Serves less than lukewarm coffee, doesn't realize I need a stirrer, never bothers to put on a fresh pot after I tell her the coffee's cold. Slow, forgets one of only two items I ordered. To cap it off, "breakfast cook" leaves 20 minutes before his replacement arrives and they shut down breakfast at 10:00 AM. Replacement cook is apparently unable to fry eggs or sausage. This is the second time I come here, the first was with the same server and she was awful but I did get to eat. Food is OK, nothing special. My experience here did not match some of the others not so fun ones. Service was definitely not an issue. Food was decent. Place was comfortable. Ordered the Wiscon-burger but requested the cheese curds on the side. 3.99 for a salad, soup or fruit swap out for the default fries seemed a bit steep to me so gave me a reason to just stick with the fries. :) Wish I went with the salad though cause I didn't eat most of the fries. Soooooo, 2 stars for the braut which was better than average and 1 imaginary star for our server who seemed to be the only person working. I watched a guy sitting at the bar politely ask an employee kneeling in the fridge for a drink and the guy very rudely said he's not working and walked away. Easily in the top 5 most rude encounters I've seen at a restaurant from any employee ever. Next I watched another employee who disappeared from the bar for about 5 minutes walk back as if there weren't 10 people waiting to be served. If I'm ever in this airport again, this is a last resort spot unless there's a good sports event since they have a decent amount of tvs. read more

Solid pub food. They have healthy options here and so far I have been happy with the options. The salad was fresh with the dressing on the side. The side of chicken was dry but not too much, a dip of dressing and water helped ease it down. The side of chips is nice and crispy. There must be a thing about home made chips in Wisconsin because I don't usually see this option other places. I liked them with a splash of vinegar. The chocolate cake was very good. I was craving dark chocolate and could have easily eaten twice as much but my belt was already straining from the week. Next time I am waiting for a flight and need a bit of food coma, I will stop in here. Bonus you can walk away with your cocktail. read more
