Arizmendi Bakery - Organic sourdough thin-crust pizza of the day

Fantastic bakery, I appreciate how they don't close in the early afternoon like many bakeries do. I…read moregot the pizza of the day which had Roma tomatoes, red onions, basil pesto, and mozzarella. I also got the pecan chocolate chip cookie. Prices are very affordable too! Pizza was delicious. The thin crispy sourdough was very tasty and the pizza was piping hot with lots of flavor. Pecan chocolate chip was good too, chewy with good balance of flavors. Would recommend.

Thick, chewy, perfectly charred crust with a sourdough tang that you just don't get from regular pizza dough. Toppings are fresh and generous without being overloaded. Grab a slice (or a whole pie) and you'll understand why people plan their day around what flavor is being served. The sourdough bread is just as good -- crackly crust, open airy crumb, and that deep tangy flavor that tells you it's been properly fermented. This isn't supermarket sourdough; it's the kind of loaf that makes plain butter taste like a gourmet experience. It's a worker-owned cooperative too, which makes supporting them feel even better. Expect a line, especially on weekends, but it moves quickly and is so worth the wait.

Outstanding Asian bakery located on Grand Ave in Oakland! I came here at 1 pm on a weekday, and…read morethey had the full selection of their current pastries. The women working at the counter were so sweet and patiently explained the menu to me as I was picking out my treats. I ended up getting their Okonomiyaki Danish, Banana Milk Milk Bun, and Yuzu Meringue Bun. The danish was probably one of my favorite savory pastries I've ever had! I loved the crispy layers, and the flavors were absolutely on point. The Banana Milk Milk Bun had a great banana milk custard filling that was prominent yet not too overpowering. The bun itself was incredibly soft and had a topping that reminded me of a pineapple bun or a concha, which I loved. The Yuzu Meringue Bun was slightly on the sweeter side, but it was filled with a delicious, tart yuzu creme that paired perfectly with the crispy exterior. Aside from their iconic Okonomiyaki Danish, they rotate their menu with different flavors of milk buns, cream buns, croissants, and other baked goods, so I'd love to come back to try their other items. It's also an Asian-woman-owned business, so I will definitely be recommending this spot to others!

Croissubi ($6.25): A cold croissant and thin piece of spam slapped together. The inside is mostly hollow and there's really nothing special about this at all. Green Onion Croissant ($5.75): Tasted like a very bad and dense version of green onion pancakes. Black Sesame Snickerdoodle Cookie ($4.75): Took a few bites to really get into it. If you're a fan of sesame you might enjoy it, but I learned that I much prefer normal snickerdoodles.

I had to update my review because Gregory's is absolutely the best bakery in town!…read more First of all, Gregory is incredibly kind, and his desserts are AMAZING. A few years ago, there was definitely a dip in communication when I was trying to order a birthday cake, but since then, I've had the pleasure of enjoying Gregory's treats many times. His cheesecake is truly unlike any I've ever had. The chocolate brownies and chocolate chip cookies are so good, they'll make you feel like you're not even on planet Earth! Seriously, they're that delicious. And the chocolate cake? It tastes like it was baked by a sweet Southern grandmother. It literally melts in your mouth. I'm almost embarrassed to admit that every time I go, I buy all four items and happily eat them over the next few days! Hands down, Gregory's is the BEST BAKERY IN OAKLAND. If you haven't been yet, you're missing out!

You best believe I'll be back to try the Sweet Potato Cake & Peach Cobbler Cheesecake. I can't even imagine what BOTH cobbler and cheesecake would taste like married together?! There's only street parking and there's a garage right across the street. The bakery is definitely hidden and located downstairs/underground. Try not to miss it when driving!
