I first tried their products about 2 decades ago when they were called California Suncakes. We decided to sell them at our coffeeshop and they were quite popular. After we sold the coffee shop I would buy them now and then as snacks for me and the kids when we were at a store or coffee shop that sold them. At some point when the kids were older and started eating me to of house and home, I decided to stock up the house so there were always healthy filling choices handy and I learned about the Maxaroon and Coffee House bars and gave them a try as well. I'm thrilled that our teenage kids absolutely love the Maxaroon bars (especially Chocolate Orange, Minty Chocolate, and Yellow Curry Ginger) as well as the Coffee House bars and recently my youngest and I tried the Handle Bars. As a house full of ADHD people, the caffeine in the Mexican Coffee bar and the new Mocha Java is a healthy and easy way for them to have a caffeine pick-me-up without drinking a soda or the liquified cakes that some coffee shops call lattes. We are all grateful for them to have a healthy and teen friendly caffeine source. I live in the SF Bay Area so I order via email and pick up and save the shipping cost, which is also fantastic! This company provides excellent customer service. I ordered an item online and after I ordered it I realized there was an ingredient I'm unable to eat. I emailed the company and they graciously agreed to cancel the order and refund me. There are several other items I still may try and will go to a local store to purchase. read more

We are waiting a resolution of a unusual problem--we bought directly from the company we have bought before--once before from them because we found and liked it in a local store. Second time we received something else (2x the calories; 2x the added sugar.) They are insisting it was mis-wrapped and we should keep them. These are to be a gift and I can't imagine telling the recipient to trust - in their case they really should not eat what is on the wrapper. I like their products but I will stick with companies that have an easy return policy and don't charge for delivery and don't argue about a no shipping charge return that should be a "no brainer." This issue is not resolved - if they see that it is unreasonable to expect us to understand their mistake in packaging and yet trust there are no mistakes in the product. I await their decision to fund $49.20 and send a label so we can return what they sent by mistake. (They even say there was supposed to be a notice in the package--there was not--this is dangerous for a company starting with "Healthy...." read more

I've never been to the actual location, but I order from this company all the time. I LOVE their products and I'm yet to eat something I don't think is delicious. I've tried the Heart Thrive, Maxaroon bars, and Suncakes, and I hope to try the Stars soon. My favorites are the apple cinnamon, date, chocolate chip, and lemon poppyseed Heart Thrive. I tried the chocolate chip heart shaped energy oat bar. this doesn't taste very good. it's thick, heavy, clay-like, and dry. i'm not even sure I'd say it tastes healthy. it is barely edible. i chugged a bottle of water just to get it down. i'd rather just eat some oatmeal and throw some chocolate chips in it. maybe they have other better products. this is just the review for the above product. read more

I've been ordering California Suncakes and Heart Thrives for years - years before I actually relocated to California. I'm reticent to even discuss these magnanimous morsels of healthy goodness, because I am slightly territorial - but anyone I've ever discussed them with absolutely love them and (so they tell me) place an order. One or two of these with a glass of water satiates me in a non-famished way. Especially if the bar has chocolate. These are vegan, have more calcium than a glass of milk, and are SO good! The different flavors of the Heart Thrives (Apricot and Chocolate Chip are my favorites), flexibility and ease of ordering online, and ability to customize your options and mix and match the suncakes (Chocolate Orange is DELICIOUS) with thrives is truly intuitive. I was expecting an order once and called to check on status. The customer service rep immediately recognized who I was, commented on my name, said she had been wondering how to pronounce it, and acted as if I were an old friend. Now this, ladies and gents, is customer service! It didn't even matter that (I felt) as if the order was slightly delayed *in full disclosure a national holiday fell in between the time the order was placed and shipped. What mattered was that I was treated like a queen, and that the healthy baking company is a true testimony to: You are what you eat. In this case, keep your hearts thrivin'! Upon opening the packaged product (that had no damage to the packaging) and splitting the cake in half, I found mold. I first tried Heart Thrive bars while in San Luis Obispo. I walked into a coffee shop to have coffee and saw them sitting on the counter. They looked good so I decided to try it and since then, I have been IN LOVE with these bars. In particular, they are fairly healthy without all the junk that protein bars or cereal bars have. I take them on all my business trips, have them at home in the freezer when I want a quick semi-meal. They are filling and delicious. I have tried most of the bars and MaXaroon and I can say that I could not pick one as my favorite cause I like them all. I order them online every other month and make sure I always have a supply in the freezer/fridge. I put them in the freezer to last longer and I take them out, leave it at room temperature for 15 minutes and away I go. read more

Before I knew I was a Celiac I used to eat and love their Chocolate Orange California Suncakes. Unfortunately even though they are gluten free I still didn't digest the oats well so I had to stop eating them. I was bummed until they came out with their new MaXaroon coconut bars that work great for me. Finally coconut bars that have less sugar and no bleached white sugar! They're like a Macaroon but better. Less sugar and better sugar (brown rice syrup), no added fats, just clean healthy unsulphured unsweetened coconut and the flavors and extracts that they are. Don't let the healthy benefits detour you, they may be healthy but they are also delicious. Comes in 6 great flavors (I like variety!). My favorites are Chocolate Orange, Chocolate Mint, and Sea Salty Maple. Try heating them up so they get slightly crunchy on the outside, soft and gooey on the inside. Yum! read more
