Taste like low quality meat. Certainly nothing to be excited about, and I would never order one again. The chicken is marginal at best. Lack of flavor. Lack of crispness. Just not very good. Side veges are good. Unimaginative, but good. A small bright spot in a dark food landscape. Desserts (ice cream cake and cheesecake) were good. Unimaginative, but good. That was another bright spot. We've been dining with Maddox since I was a child, and each time we visit, it's like a trip down memory lane. You almost feel transported back in time with the vintage signs, the car hops, and the classic drive-in menu of hamburgers, fries, and shakes. This is my favorite restaurant! I've been coming here since I was a child, and now I bring my children (and soon to be grandchildren) here. Their rolls are sooo yummy and unlimited! Their ranch dressing is very very good, as well! The Turkey Steak, Shrimp Steak, and Ground Beef Steak are all on the lower price end, but are delicious and I would highly recommend them! Their seafood & steaks, of course, are also what make them famous, and are top notch if you don't mind spending more. My brother and I had reservation for 5:30. We arrived early at 5:00. We were seated quite quickly. The server did a good job, although he vanished when it came time to give us the check. What happened to this place? Always liked Maddox but man the service and quality have gone downhill. Probably won't be coming back. Food was horribly bland and everything was just wrong. Waitress took our silverware away for no known reason and we were left with hot piping rolls that eventually got cold because we didn't have a knife to butter them. I understand why people love this place and give it five stars. I really do. But if you plan to dine there you need to know that currently they are having a lot of issues. Number one: The room we were seated in was absolutely full of flies. We were swatting flies off of ourselves and our dinner the entire time. I didn't realize that Ranch House was a literal description. To the dinner: They were out of several things on the menu including all of the craft sodas. When you consider that they have no alcohol that meant that the only options for drinks were lemonade or water. Once we ordered, two of us got our food in a normal time while two of us waited an additional 10 minutes. We had to remind our waitress that we were still waiting for our entrées. It spoiled a nice night out. Don't get me wrong, the food was delicious. If we are ever in the Brigham City area again, we might eat there but we will never ever drive from Salt Lake City for that experience again. read more

This restaurant began in 1949 and has become a destination. Guy Fieri wanted to do a show here but they don't reveal their recipes. On the other side of the main restaurant is a drive in restaurant where he did eat. Many celebs have eaten here. The wait staff is plentiful and super friendly and attentive. My wife and I had never been to Maddox, so when some friends recommended it we decided to give it a shot. Even though we live over an hour and a half away. It seemed rustic and cozy but warm and inviting. We had a great time and loved the food. It has a great homemade taste with a great atmosphere. Our friends had the prime rib and I got the top of Maddox basically a chicken, steak and shrimp combo. My wife had the chicken fried steak. We all really enjoyed the food and the portions were "hardy" to say the least. We will be going back as soon as possible. read more

I have loved this place for decades. However, the last time we visited it was pretty disappointing. The service was not good. The server was borderline rude to us. It took a long time for the food to come out. And then the food came out to the adults first and the kids had to wait another 5 to 10 minutes. The rolls which are one of my favorites, were substandard, a little doughy. my steak was a little dry and tough. But at least it was pretty expensive. The dining room is getting pretty dated also. I will give it another chance, but if I have one more visit like this one, I won't go back again. read more

Everything is always so good. Food & service are exceptional. Shrimp steak is a favorite. Clam chowder on Fridays is our favorite soup.

My parents fell in love coming here. When my dad played football for Utah State, all celebratory dinners happened here. And my dad bribes us to come back to Aggie games 28 years later with the promise to stop at Maddox on the way up to Logan. In so many ways and for so many reasons, this place will always bring back warm and fuzzy memories for me. These days, I don't eat much true comfort food, but I always make an exception for Maddox. The rolls are amazing! When you eat them hot, slathered in raspberry butter, they will put your mom's Sunday rolls to shame. I love the seafood cocktail salad and the shrimp steak. (Trust me on this one... if you are a seafood lover, GET THIS). The steak is also great as they herd their own signature cows out back. The fresh peach pies are also great. Especially during peach season. The service is impeccable. You will feel so taken care of. There is a reason this place has been around for about a century. Such an interesting spot we stopped to lunch at on our way back to Salt Lake City from Yellowstone. The restaurant is HUGE, and when we got there around 3pm, it was still packed with more people coming in. This is a slice of America that we don't find in California, and the menu has probably been around since they opened in 1949. They started off with the famous Maddox Fried Chicken and then became a steak house along the way. I highly suggest getting anything with beef because the quality is solid, and the pricing is reasonable. Because we were there for lunch, we were still able to partake in the lunch specials. The hamburger steak was really good, so I wasn't surprised when the top sirloin turned out to be so flavorful and delicious. I did order the famous skinless fried chicken but it was on the dry side. I don't suggest you order it. When you sit down, you'll be given a basket of warm soft rolls and several corn bread fingers. There is whipped butter and raspberry whipped butter. The bread basket is hard to resist and they will replenish it too if you want it. The meals all start with a salad -- there is a regular house salad and a seafood salad. The seafood salad consists of iceberg lettuce topped with imitation crab, served with cocktail sauce and a lemon wedge. It was fine. Entrees all come with vegetables (steamed carrots and broccoli) and a side of your choice. I highly suggest getting the mashed potatoes. It is so good, especially with the gravy on top. All in all, a satisfying meal and a great way to experience true Americana. Food 3.5 -- service was friendly and attentive hence I bumped it up to 4. read more

We asked to order food for the kids while a couple of people in our group were still deciding so the kids didn't have to sit hungry and were told they have to put the whole order in at once. Then we ordered drinks and the waitress told us she would have to wait and bring them out with the salads. Some of the food was good but mostly it was mediocre and definitely didn't make the bad service worth it. After nearly 2 hours of being there and having not seen our waitress in a while, we had to find her to ask for the check.
