Noisy crowded, waiters forget about you, food isn't bad but very overpriced for mundane bland food. Rolls were doughy, and cornbread was burnt. Had to track down the waiters for service and to get the check. Also, they were using vacuum cleaners near us while we were eating... Very overrated read more

Love Maddox, one of the best old school, local, farm to table, OG, restaurants around. Great fried chicken, chicken fried steaks and good ol'beef steaks. My favorite cut is the T-bone, but it's a lot of steak so I went with the filet. While the ribeye may have better marbling and flavor I enjoy the tenderness of a good filet. Pro tip, Maddox cooks to temperature better than most. If you order Medium Rare it's going to have a red warm center and red throughout. Maddox also puts a little butter on steaks when they come out to add a little flavor and keep it nice and juicy. We'll done Maddox. Their rolls are amazing! Light and fluffy, warm and oh so good with strawberry butter and regular butter. They also have corn pones, corn bread in a stick shape that is great with butter and honey. They used to have honey on the table but it became a casualty of Covid, now you have to ask for honey. Your meal comes with a choice of salad, seafood cocktail or soup. I always go with the seafood cocktail, it's imitation crab, I think, but really good and very good cocktail sauce. For $5 you add large shrimp to it. I ask them to hold the bed of lettuce they normally bring it on. Makes it easier to eat as I don't think the lettuce adds anything to it. And you have a choice of potatoes, fries, mashed or baked. And a vegetable medley. Their pies and desserts are delicious too but I'm usually too full. Wife ordered a huge cob salad and daughter ordered the kids steak. All reasonably priced and all in all a very enjoyable dinner. read more

We come several times a year, usually on our way from Logan to SLC. One of our favorite restaurants. If we arrived by 4:30 and order before 5:00 on the weeknights you can get the prime rib special which includes piece of pie at the end and the price is more favorable. The warm, soft bread with homemade butter and jam was the perfect start--seriously addictive! The cornbread was just as good. We had steak and salmon, and both were cooked perfectly. We have been going to Maddox for years. The past several years it has not been the same both in service and food quality. Recently the last two times in the past two week we went to the drive in. We waited both times a half an hour and was never waited on. Other cars who came in a half hour after us was waited on. My lights were on, the car was going and no reason to not have waited on us other than they have no system to let the car hops know how long someone has been waiting. We got in right away and had maybe the best waiter I have ever had. Extremely attentive. Asked all the right questions for your order. Just great. Two orders of the comp bread as daughter practically made that her meal. Bison steaks around with mashed potatoes and perfectly steamed vegetables. This was the only nice restaurant in the very small town and we were pleasantly surprised how good the service was and those breads oh my goodness delicious melts in your mouth. Their ROLLS are soft and delicate. The CORNBREAD is SO delish with the Berry Butter! HINT: Don't eat for a full 24 hrs before you go to Maddox! It's like Thanksgiving at this place! We went there for a birthday dinner. We love almost 2 hours away. The soup was not warm enough for my liking. Which to be fair of it's not lava hot I am generally not impressed. I wanted a porterhouse steak. They were out. I also wanted sarsaparilla. Which they were out of. Again disappointing. I ordered the ribeye with a baked potato and grilled onions and mushrooms. Got the steak and potato but no mushrooms and onions. There are way better options for food that doesn't constitute an almost 2 hour drive for. I get that it was a busy weekend due to school proms and things like that. But, this is a common thing that happens why not prepare for it. I will not be back. read more
