We love our new shutters from Made in the Shade. We desperately needed new blinds for the kitchen and family room. We received three reasonable bids, but Made in the Shade was our best option after a small negotiation. Chelsea did a fabulous job explaining what was available to us. She listened, had a great sense of humor, and allowed us to ask questions and explore different design options. We even met Brando, the owner, who came out to discuss our order briefly. Then Josh came out to install our 5 new shutters. He was fast, very polite, and did a wonderful job. There are many options for new shutters, and perhaps, once they are installed, who you purchased them from will not ever be noticed. But we all know the problems that can occur with delays, poor installation, and sloppy workmanship. Made in the Shade was incredible, a joy to work with, and very high quality. The shutters arrived two weeks earlier than promised, so if there was one downside, it was that I had to hurry and paint the kitchen--not much of a downside. Chelsea, the representative who came all the way to our house, spoke at length about how this was a family-owned business and how they stood by their service, bla bla bla. But since taking our money, she's completely stopped responding to messages. It's unacceptable and unethical to treat customers this way. If you come across Chelsea working with any curtain or window treatment company in the area, be extremely cautious. Stop looking for window treatment vendors right now, Made in the Shade is the one you want! We needed to do about 28 windows on our new build. We reached out to several vendors in the Rocklin/Roseville/Lincoln area for quotes and within 10 minutes of speaking to Mandie in our home, it was clear that she is a true expert. She is so knowledgeable about all of her offerings and was honest about the industry. We were enjoying speaking with her so much that we were just hoping that when her quote came back it was a price we could do, even if it was a little bit over another vendor - and Made In the Shade came in *under* their competitors. The window treatments came in a few weeks later, on time. Darryl and Scott installed them and were fantastic. They were both so professional, good with our son (Scott even used a softer drill for our son with sensory sensitivities), and just an overall pleasure to work with. It has been a few weeks with the new window treatments now and we still talk about how much we enjoy them everyday. Also the shutters have made a huge difference in how cool the house feels on these 100+ degree days. Special note that they were the only vendor we spoke to who suggested Smart Shades, a blend between a curtain and vertical blinds. We were struggling to figure out a beautiful (but budget-friendly and child-friendly) alternative to vertical blinds until Mandie suggested these. I would have never known they existed without her. We needed some better window shades and contacted Made in the Shade. Kimberly listened carefully to our wants and worked with us to select exactly the honeycomb shades we needed. We has used Made in the Shades in our Lincoln home, back in 2014. When we purchased our new home in December 2020 we immediately reached out to them to get the quote started. We had about 26 windows and one slider, Lots of windows! During the middle of the pandemic we had a install date within 3 or so weeks of placing the order. Today we had honeycomb blinds installed to our skylight and kitchen window. They are motorized. The skylight is solar powered and the kitchen window shade is rechargeable. I met Dean at the Home Show at Cal Expo in October. I wanted to have plantation shutters installed in a couple of windows in my house. Quality was key. With so many to choose, I also wanted to feel the integrity of the company. And value. I wasn't ready to spend thousands of dollars on shutters just for the name. We had shades installed six years ago. Since that time the business was sold to the current owners. Not knowing this I contacted the company as the plastic hold-downs had deteriorated due to constant UV exposure. The woman I spoke with told me she would look through the previous owners records to see what she could fine. I didn't hear anything until today when a box full of hold-downs arrived via FedEx. I don't know about anyone else but I call that exceptional customer service. Incidentally, the roll up screens and still in perfect shape. When I first started the process of looking for window covering options, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I'm a huge believer in Costco and found that they offered home options like flooring and window treatments etc... So I got a quote from their preferred window covering company. This was literally the first time I was let down by Costco. It was nearly impossible to get someone to call me back and after I finally did get a call back I received a quote that was more than 2 times more than the lowest estimate I had received. The reason I say all this is because I find Costco to be a reputable brand that I believe in and still do today w/ the exception of their Home options contractors. I decided to get a couple other quotes and ended up meeting Dean. The owner of Made in the Shade blinds. He was able to meet with me right away and was prompt in returning all my calls and texts. He showed me several options and after comparing everyone that I had got a quote from, not only was Made in the shade blinds the cheapest, but their products had just as much quality as the company that Costco had referred me to for twice the amount Dean was able to get me my blinds for. The transformation in our home is fabulous with our new "plantation shutter"- style blinds from Made In The Shade of Lincoln. Our south facing windows take an intense beating from the summer sun, which makes for an uncomfortably hot room throughout those months. Not only do our new blinds look sleek and gracious, the room is continually comfortable even now with temps reaching, yes really, 105 here in Auburn. The lovely look and the amazing thermal insulation is astonishing. Mandie made her consultation visit promptly after my first inquiry. She is very knowledgeable of her products and patiently guided us through our decision making process. Her measurements were all absolutely accurate, not an easy task in a 100 year old house in which nothing is "plumb". I live in Sacramento, and wasn't sure if the company would want to provide service here given they are located in Lincoln. Darryl did not hesitate to come out to discuss options for exterior motorized shades that I was interested in. After initially buying only one shade, I loved it so much I ordered another one for a second window in the kitchen. They are beautiful, functional and so convenient. From the comfort of staying inside the house, I can raise or lower the shades by remote control, in an instance.
