    Summer in La Grange

Service was slow but then again there was only one person working the tables. The breakfast food was just okay but the drinks were WONDERFUL!

Without a doubt, this is one of the best meals I've had in a long time. This charming spot offers a spacious patio in the back, perfect for lively gatherings, and a cozy, intimate front patio great for people-watching. Inside you will find a warm and inviting atmosphere with nods to the charming Victorian architecture of Northern KY. My server, Katelynn, was incredibly sweet and attentive, taking time to walk me through the menu and highlight awesome daily specials they have throughout the week. The food...Chef, you are an all-star. The simplest details were nailed. For example, my po'boy had the perfect crispy bread exterior (thanks to Madeline's choosing Blue Dog Bakery bread--smart), but the warm sauce, a mojo rojo, leaked into the airy pollow dough at the center of the baguette and softened it slightly, soaking up all the delicious flavor. The sandwich was a perfect balance of spice from the sausage, tartness from the mayo, and the acidic-bitter contrast of the pickled red cabbage and fennel. I started with the mushroom dip. Again, Chef, it was absolutely wonderful. It had that comforting, creamy texture we all want in a dip but elevated with rich, fragrant mushroom goodness. Perfectly baked with breadcrumbs on top, adding that perfect crunch to dance with the texture of the dip and baguette. Then (I know, this is crazy, but I was genuinely over-excited) I tried the breakfast burrito with bacon. The potatoes had just the write texture, beautifully juxtaposed with the crunch of high-quality bacon--fatty and cripsy--perfectly cooked. The chipotle mayo on top added the a great smokiness and slight heat. Two of my dishes came with simple chopped romaine as a side salad. Looks totally unassuming, but the house-made parmesan dressing was so delicious. And I think this salad perfectly sums up the food here... sounds simple enough, yet wonderfully done. Totally approachable food prepared by someone who clearly knows flavor and has most likely traveled or at least been influenced by global flavors. Are you still reading? I know this is a lot--so go there immediately! But I am going to wrap this up: I also loved my cocktails. Their peach nectar bellini with cava as a wonderful balance of dry and sweet. The tequila, strawberry, jalapeno and cava cocktail was so refreshing with a little bite from the jalapenos. Both entirely my kind of drinks. I love this place and cannot wait to come back. I hope to lose many a sunny day on their patio. Oh, and here are the weekly specials my server mentioned: Tuesday Prix Fixe Wednesday $25 Bottles of Wine Thursday Oyster Night Enjoy!

We spontaneously decided to stop by Madeline's on this grey, rainy Sunday and it definitely brightened our day! The service was extremely nice and attentive, the food was spectacular and the atmosphere is simply adorable! I opted for the Shrimp Scampi Pasta and it was extremely delicious. So was the baguette with mojo rojo! My husband and father-in-law both chose the meatball sandwich and loved it. My mother-in-law picked the mushroom burger and kept talking about how absolutely delicious it was! Everyone was blown away with the quality of the food. We will most definitely be back!

A cute and quaint spot to eat! Don't let the small menu fool you! The food is amazing! Amazing nibbles, solid drinks and such a nice vibe! Want something lowkey but brings all the vibes this is your spot!

Called them up to see if there's any particulars…read moresuch as needing a reservation or if they only offered tastings at certain times of the day. There are none. You can stop by whenever you feel the need to taste some wine, tequila or bourbon Hannah, the manger, is so sweet. She reminds me of Joanna Gaines. She's one of those people you feel like you know and want to be around. Just a beauty inside and out. She was the only one there and had a few guests to help and she said she was having a bad day but you'd never know. She made my bf and I feel more than welcome and took care of us. We got a small charcuterie with nuts, meats and cheeses and added olives. The charcuterie was not what I was expecting from a winery. It was more of an adult lunchable than charcuterie. The cheese was like that precut Cracker Barrel cheese found in the store. I would have like to have had some freshly grated parmesan or mozzarella. Something that would pair well with the wines. I'm not a fan of Swiss. Love Colby jack and cheddar but those don't really go with the wines I had. I got a flight of white wines that are numbered in my 2nd picture. They were all pretty good but 1 & 4 were my favorites. I was able to taste a new wine slush they're offering. I chose the red wine slush over the white moscato one. I fell in love with it. I tried to get one to go but was unable to due to them not having approved to go containers for them My boyfriend got a flight of premium bourbon which he enjoyed. There are lots of cosy places inside and out to sit and sip your favorite drink. We did leave with a bottle of the # 4 wine I liked and garlic sausage though. I will definitely return for a slush!!

From the moment we walked in just an amazing experience. We were part of a surprise party of 6 and…read morethe staff knew it. They created our birthday girl as a reservation for 2 instead of 6 and helped us surprise her at the table. The lighting is a bit dark but that helped the surprise. The manager brought out a sparkling wine and the chef sent out an amuse bouche. The pimento spread was so good we took a pint home for $20 (shhh secret). Our waitress Mo was professional a helpful with meal suggestions and separating some mushrooms for me. The shrimp appetizer is delicious and had 9 shrimp. The corn fitters come in 4 and Mo added 2. They were okay but I'd try something different in the future. The whole large kernels were odd in a light fritter. Our meals were fantastic. Everyone raved about bites of the filet and the chicken dish. The bolognese is a staple in the menu and was almost the perfect bite, perhaps a bit more meat in the sauce but the pasta was perfect. I had the wild boar and goat cheese polenta. The polenta didn't have a strong goatyness to it but was creamy, I ate it all. The boar was done to just short of falling off the bone. I used a piece of the grilled bread from my friends pasta to finish the meal. The wine list is short but complex. We had the Rioja red, so dry and smelled of old leather, but was a perfect wine to cut through the richness of the dishes. Our seat had a great view of the whiskey wall (almost every seat does) and it was a conversation piece the whole evening. Oh, forgot to mention the manhattan can be made into a black manhattan- outstanding. Best I've had in a restaurant. We are already making plans for our parties next birthday in July and will be asking for Mo. she was there at every turn throughout the meal. Pleasant and there to help at any point. The manager checked on us two times. WHP does fine dining so well. I haven't had such a wonderful evening for everyone in quite some time. We will be back and highly recommend. Will be sending out an executive's here when they are looking for L'ville dining. Well done. Sorry no pics, the room is dark and the ones I took don't do the meal justice.

Food 2.5/5: This obviously carries the most weight. The menu itself is excellent and the descriptions and components of each dish sound perfect. The execution was way off! Literally everything was far too salty and we ordered things that should not be salty... diver scallops and black cod. These are delicate proteins that don't need much help. Why oh why over-salt these?! Oddly the cook on both was very good but the seasoning ruined both dishes. Drinks 4.5/5: We had 3 different cocktails all of which were excellent.
