Madewell is one of my favorite stores and the girls who work there are so sweet. I was looking for a particular top and they located it for me in Chicago and were able to get it shipped over to my house for no charge. I buy everything only on sale or with my 15% teacher discount as Madewell prices can be steep. I love their tee's and their style of tops as well as the cool rings. I am currently eyeing one of their leather totes but thus far it is still full price. read more

I bought two jeans online for full price that said final sale because I didn't know which one would fit better. Madewell has made exceptions for me in the past as I am a Madewell star status so I brought the jeans that didn't fit into a store to make a return thinking that the manager would have some common sense and at least give me a store credit. She told me flat out that it was a final sale and she couldn't make an exception I told her that's ridiculous considering i clearly purchased two pairs of jeans that were full price that is still in stock online. She ended up letting me make a same-day exchange that said Madewell is supposed to be known for their good customer service and it seems like that's been falling short these days. read more

Extremely unhappy with store policies, and the management was incredibly rude. I bought a pair of jeans for my girlfriend, and went to exchange them 3 days later. The jeans we wanted to exchange were the same price, yet they insisted on charging us $40 more, refusing to let us switch out a pair of jeans that were exactly the same price as the pair we bought. Friday 6/15, 8pm 5 STARS for stellar customer service! The other reviewers have given you a sense of the Madewell style: part of the J Crew empire, but younger, hipper, quirkier. Two words to summarize their style: Alexa Chung. Only you know how those two words make you feel... Not everything works for or appeals to me and I think their prices are high. Having said that, their denim is inventive and most of the fabrics are high quality. Anyhoo. In a world of horrific customer service, the Madewell crew shines bright. Helpful, not hovering. THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE STORE! It's like a heavenly cross between Anothropologie and maybe Lucky Jeans- a bit of whimsy but that sort of western edge. They've got great basics and lots of interesting pieces that you wont find elsewhere. I really felt a boutique vibe, even though the store is large. Customer service is EXCELLENT and the place is so tidy at all times - even the SALE area is so well kept that it's hard to tell it apart from the rest of the store! Sometimes I don't understand why I should pay $70 for a top. But, Madewell proved their clothing to be worthy of the money. I tried on a shirt dress and was immediate impressed by it. The material was amazing and although it was a flowy top, it fitted me like a glove because it had structure. This is exactly the kind of clothing I am looking for. I like to feel comfortable, look stylish and most of all, look clean and well put together. Madewell has gained itself a new customer! The store employees were very nice. Also, what I liked most about the store was that they were too strict about the changing rooms. I hate to get those number cards and wait for employees to unlock the doors. read more

I've heard great things about this company in general so I thought I would give their jeans a try! At my age, I'm realizing that forever 21 jeans won't cut it for forever. I was walking down Colorado blvd with my BF when I realized there was a Madewell right in front of me! So I stopped, shopped and grabbed a couple pairs of jeans to try. One on their employees, Emma, was so kind and gave me other pairs to try etc. She was so nice and so helpful and made my stressful jean shopping situation so much easier!! Thanks Emma and Madewell! I love that there's a Madewell in Old Town - this has quickly become one of my fave go-to stores every time I'm in Old Town. You are almost virtually guaranteed to find something amazing/cute every time. I sincerely love the style and quality of Madewell. It's cool girl tomboy chic and under the J. Crew umbrella. After a workout, I stopped in to check out new fall items and really liked a pair of velvet pants. I purchased the wrong size and didn't try them on. I went back to exchange them but they ran out of my size so they placed an order for me online. Went in today bc I needed a few pairs of denim. I walked in and the girl at the entrance doesn't even acknowledge me she just stared at me and walked away. Which I was totally ok with, I'm not asking for attention. As I'm shopping around I notice her kinda following me around and finger-spacing everything I was touching. She made me feel uncomfortable and made me not want to shop .I though that it was maybe time to close and she just wanted to get the store clean to leave. But it was only 4pm I ended up leaving and not purchasing anything. read more

Best shopping experience ever! Found a denim jacket online and absolutely fell in love with it! It was the most gorgeous jacket I've ever laid eyes on, it was stunning, had this beautiful faded color, it also helped that it was on sale. But as much as I loved the jacket, I hate ordering clothes online even more. They're never what I expect them to be, either the size is wrong, the quality isn't up to par and worst of all, returning can be a total pain. Instead of going through that again, I went to the nearest Madewell in Pasadena to look for the jacket. I walked in and began browsing around, and was immediately greeted by a sales rep whom directed me towards their denim jackets. They had plenty of sizes and they looked and felt like everything I had wanted them to be. But how about the fit? Every one of those jackets were buttoned up and I could not unbutton them for the life of me. It was this battle between me and that jacket and the jacket was winning. When I finally managed to unbutton the darn thing, it didn't fit. The sales reps were super helpful and picked out a size that fitted better, she also helped me unbutton it and saved me from another painful excruciating battle. The jacket turned out perfect! Unfortunately, it was not on sale in the stores. Luckily, they said they will match the price online and ended up giving me a better deal than their online store. I love love love the girls here and will keep coming back to this Madewell. Thank you so much for such a great shopping experience! read more

Service is always a hit or miss. I'm a loyal shopper of Madewell. The designers are doing their jobs but not the staff management. The ladies by the fitting room are great but why are the staff by the cashier so rude??? Either rude or happy? I also work in customer service so I try to be understanding but...wow. I love Madewell clothes but the staff at this location can be pretty rude. They'll ignore you in the store, no greetings when you're coming or going, and give off generally judgy vibes. It's fine for making a return or picking up a held item, but the Americana location is much friendlier. read more

I LOVE SHOPPING. As if I needed a reason to do shop therapy. This location is located in Old Town Pasadena across the street from Urban Outfitters. They have a nice selection of unique every jewelry, casual and dressy attire. All the clothing pieces are cute. The materials are quality and well made. I am particularly a fan of their leather bags and tanks. They had a great selection of sale items which included silk tops and dresses. The staff here are very friendly and helpful. The dressing room are spacious and private. Definitely a place worth dropping by anytime you are in the area. read more

I'm so excited there is a Madewell store close by... other than South Coast Plaza. It is next to Steve Madden and Banana Republic, Zara and other stores I like to shop at. I shopped here yesterday and was so annoyed by the sales people. Honestly, it's nice to have help if you need it, but please leave us alone if we just want to browse! WAY overboard with the "can I help you", how did you do?, not by one person, or even two, but three or four times by several workers. I swear I may not go back if they won't leave me alone. I LOVEEE Madewell! I was sooo happy when I moved to Pasadena and found out there was a Madewell less than a mile from my place! The selection here changes frequently enough that I can go back every few weeks and find something new, and they have a decently sized sale section. Most of all, though, I really love the sales ladies here! They're always super helpful and nice. I came back two days after I bought a (really cute) clutch because the strap broke the first night I used it when I went out to dinner. Unfortunately they weren't able to find anymore in the back, but they did offer to get one mailed to me from a different store. At the end of the day one of the sales ladies was able to semi-fix the strap (i.e. she clipped the chain directly to the circular ring since the connector had fallen off), so I was still pleased, especially considering how inexpensive the purse was after the sale discounts! She also gave me a 20% off card to use on a future purchase! So nice :) read more
