I grabbed to go orders of the crab cake sandwich, side Caesar salad and the kicking crab soup. I also got the chicken wrap with a side Cesar salad for my dad. I didn't open the items up until I got to my location. Upon opening, there were a the few pieces of lettuce with 3 long shavings of cheese across for their version of a Caesar salad. Minimal dressing that tasted like just oil was placed on it. Very disappointing just by looking at it. The crab cake sandwich had no sauce, a thick piece of tomato and another piece of lettuce on the side. The crab cake which had a good amount of crab in it, lacked flavor and tasted like it was cooked in old grease. The kicking Crab soup tasted like water with a lot of black pepper and two pieces of crab meat in it. My dad had nothing good to say about his chicken wrap. For service and as a to go order, the waitresses were really nice. The ambiance was upscale dining experience with prices that should reflect in their food quality. $25 for a crab cake that tasted like it came from a gas station is not what I expected. Nor for it being paired with a few pieces of lettuce for their Caesar dressing. Maybe it was a bad day or, I'm not their typical customer. Either way, it's a first and last for me.

Even though it was quite crowded, everything felt very well organized. The wait time to be seated was reasonable, and the staff were warm and welcoming from the start. Our waiter, Lorena, truly stood out. She was incredibly patient and accommodating while we took our time deciding what to order, and she was very helpful in guiding us through the menu. On top of that, she had such a pleasant and positive attitude that made the whole experience even better. As for the food--it did not disappoint. I had the salmon, which I would absolutely recommend. My daughter ordered the steak frites with French fries, which was excellent, and my other daughter had the same dish with mashed potatoes. Everything was so good that we left our plates embarrassingly clean. We'll definitely be coming back. And if you happen to get Lorena as your server, you're in for a genuinely great dining experience.

The space is absolutely beautiful--intimate, dimly lit, and very thoughtfully designed. From the decor to the overall ambiance, everything feels warm, elevated, and inviting without trying too hard. It's the kind of restaurant where you immediately want to settle in and enjoy the full experience. We started with the Parker House Rolls, and the orange-miso butter alone made them memorable. The Saffron P.E.I. Mussels were flavorful and comforting, and the Charred Jumbo Prawns had such a great smoky flavor. For entrees, the Lobster Pot Pie was rich and hearty in the best way, and the Pan Roasted Bronzino was beautifully prepared and balanced. The Steak Frites were also excellent--simple, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Dessert definitely deserves a mention because the Majestic Coconut Cake paired with their original espresso martini was such a perfect ending to the meal. Overall, the food, atmosphere, and service made this a really great experience, especially for a newer restaurant. I'll definitely be back and would absolutely recommend it for date night, celebrations, or even a nice girls night out in Old Town Alexandria.

I particularly liked the sweet corn on the flatbread. We also had cocktails- an old fashioned for me and a mojito for my friend - they were fine. The theme of the restaurant is Edgar Allen Poe, and they just went way too far with the literary idea. The menu was long-winded and confusing. You have to read each item carefully and try to decipher what you'll be getting. For example, the Aristocrat is "a feast for a king or his court, flame-forged angus blend cloaked in American cheese and enthroned upon shattered lettuce...". Huh? Is that a cheesesteak with shredded lettuce? I thought it was absurd and funny. My hangry friend did not see the humor. We both agreed this really good restaurant is doing itself a huge disservice by confusing customers. First rule of selling anything is to make it easy for the customer to want what you're selling. We did ask our server their favorites on the menu. They named a few appetizers and said they mostly stick to the less expensive items. This is supposed to be an upscale restaurant, and I would expect the staff to be well-educated on the food. I don't blame the server for not forking over the cash for a variety of menu items. It's a pricey place. But don't they prepare the staff to answer questions about the food by letting them taste everything? I thought it was standard practice to prepare tasting portions for waitstaff. This restaurant is currently too tied to their theme. With a little editing, this could be a great place. I hope more people give them a chance, offer constructive feedback, and that the management is open to suggestion.
