After church, we wanted to stay in Solomons and have lunch. We were originally gonna go to one place, but it turned out they are closed on Sunday, so decided to try The Pier. Everyone was friendly and we were able to be seated right away. It's right on the water, so we could see Pax River right from our booth. They offered outdoor seating, but it was almost 90 degrees out, so we opted for indoor. There was a very good selection of food items available, plus with it being Sunday, they had brunch going on as well. We decided to not do brunch; since we were going to a seafood restaurant we didn't really want breakfast foods (bacon, eggs, sausage, waffles, etc). I got shrimp tacos and my wife got the Captain's Platter (4 breaded shrimp and 2 mini crab cakes, plus sides). Meals were very good. A little pricey, but that's to be expected with seafood. Third time's a charm! I hadn't been here in over 15 years and remembered it as a solid 3/5, so when a few friends and I rode down to Southern Maryland for a scenic lunch trip, I told them to manage their expectations. I couldn't have been more wrong. The service was fantastic despite a busy floor, and the food was on another level. The shrimp tacos got two thumbs up, the hushpuppies with cinnamon butter were spot-on, and the chicken tenders were hands-down the best we've ever tasted--crispy on the outside, insanely juicy on the inside, and massive portions. The Pier Restaurant is a whole vibe! After contemplating, researching and comparing several restaurants in the area, I decided we should visit The Pier. You have the option of dinning indoors and outside on the deck. No reservation required and plenty of room. The deck only has about 6 or 7 tables and you're in direct sun. We opted for the deck. It was warm with the sun beating down on us, but you can't beat the view and ambiance. A performer was indoors singing, which was a cute idea and people on boats would just pull up and dock and come into the restaurant. Pretty cool concept. The food was absolutely delish! We wanted to try the crab pretzel but they were unfortunately out of that dish, so we pivoted to the wings. Lemon pepper, to be exact. We loved them! I ordered the blackened salmon with a kale crunch salad and lime rice. That was probably the best salmon I've ever had! And the portion was huge!! I also ordered the lemonade crush. Perfect for a warm day! Our server was so sweet and helpful during our visit. She made sure to check on us frequently and she had a very pleasant demeanor. What's funny is she has an identical twin working here also and I would often confuse the two. Lol! All and all, we had a fabulous time!. After we ate, we did a little roaming around the area. Stopped here on our day in solomons. Was greeted right away by the hostess and walked to a table. We sat down around 130pm. Our server was honestly so nonchalant and looked like she could care less about us. She did stop by a total of 6 times. She def earned her 20% tip. But little does she know that is the bare minimum we give. We ordered everything at once since we could tell she wasn't about her job. We ordered hush puppies, those were the best thing we ordered. A maple dipping whipped butter of sorts was the sauce. Next best thing was the crab pretzel. It came with an avocado ranch that was surprisingly good with the dip on the pretzel. Lastly for the price of it, was the steamed shrimp. It did come coated in old bay which was a great perk! The bar drinks were literally the only thing to make this a 3 star review! After traveling out of town and finally back in the area, it was time to unwind. It was one of the first warm days of the year and decided to come here to grab a small bite to eat and to unwind. This area, with the nice weather, was a bit crazy to get to. Tons of traffic, a Saturday night, live music, and right along the water. Combine all those things, and it was a packed strip of people and things to do. We got to The Pier and were greeted immediately and escorted to our seats. With the nice weather we opted to sit outside. Not the best move on our part as it turned windy while we were out there. We weren't going to let the wind stop us, we looked over the menu quickly and ordered waters until we decided on drinks. Well, the wind struck and took one of the menus up off the table and tipped over a water glass. Water doused one of our party and we learned our lesson on where to keep the menus until taken from us. I was advised that you had to get a bucket here. I had to ask what exactly is a bucket before I decided that. I was told that a bucket was just one of their drink in a bigger quantity service in a pail...or bucket. I was like, alright, let's do this. After looking at the menu I went with a Lemonade Crush, fresh squeezed lemonade, lemon vodka, and, as they put it, "a splash of soda." I don't drink often at this point in my life, but this was delicious. After a very long week of work travel, this was the perfect way to cap it off. As for food, I definitely went light. I only ordered an appetizer. I went with the Pretzels & Queso. These were like pretzel bites, so don't let the name mislead you and think you are getting multiple pretzels. Maybe pretzel balls is a proper way to describe it. The queso for this, some of the best I have ever had. The service here is top notch as well. After tackling a 7-mile hike at Calvert Cliffs, our group of 15 was starving and looking for a place that could m accommodate a large crew. The Pier was incredible--the staff were super friendly and they got us settled in quickly and provided top-tier service for our entire party. The location is stunning, right on the water with a perfect view of the bridge. It's the kind of unique atmosphere that makes you want to stay a while. We stopped in while we were in the area and were throughly pleased with the beautiful views this restaurant offered. Luckily, it was a quiet Sunday and the restaurant was not crowded. Our hostess sat us right away next to a window with a view water and bridge. Our waitress was friendly and took order while giving suggestions for us to possibly try. We decided to share the fried calamari, crab dip, half Maryland half cream of crab soup, mussels, and crap cake entree which came with two good sized crab cakes full of sweet lump crab and sweet potatoes fries. Most seating options: Completely outside by the water; outside in their covered bar area with high tops, which is great for windy days; and a renovated indoors dining area with a large bar. This summer marked my second visit to The Pier while visiting MD. My first visit was in July of 23 for dinner with my family. This year I returned for lunch. The daytime views are simply beautiful. On both occasions the service was decent and the food was good. I must admit my drinks this summer were more on the weak side and mostly ice. For lunch we had wings and crab cake sandwiches. The wings definitely could have been cooked longer and the Crab Cake was tasty. While I do not have any major complaints I do think they are on the pricier side for what we had. Finally got around to trying this place, I've always walked by and thought the vibes would be perfect--on the water, get to watch the boats and the sunset--perfect. And the location is indeed great! The food? Not so much. Not that it was terrible, but it was definitely not worth it for the price. And even if the location is amazing, it's still SOMD and there's no reason for the food to be that price. They were busy (Saturday) so service was slow, but that was understandable and they were all very polite. Came here for the first time over the weekend and really enjoyed this place. I love all the windows in the restaraunt so you can really take in the beautiful view it offers. For food started off with fried pickles and oysters then had some wings and a burger. I thought all the food tasted really delicious. Thought the food was good had the seafood dinner. Unfortunately when I received the charge on my account it was $40 more than what I had put down for the bill. I gave a $10 tip on a 63 dollar bill and they charged me $103. It was lunch we were easy and to see the charge go up on my bank account was pretty shady if you ask me. read more

I would give it a 3.5 but the food is just okay. We came in the afternoon and got a few drinks, the crab dip and some soup. Nice dinner spot on the water. Husband and I joined a local friend here for dinner this evening. We all enjoyed the food, relaxing atmosphere and quick service. For a starter, we shared a crab pretzel (see photo). This pretzel, paired with the house made crab dip and cheese was to die for. I would go back and eat this over and over again! I ordered a pound of steamed shrimp with a side of melted butter for dipping. Nothing special about this. It was just the normal peeled shrimp. (Not to say it wasn't good) Our friend ordered the Beer Battered Haddock with a side of Mac n Cheese and Hush Puppies. He stated that his sides were really good and the fish was also good, but again nothing that really stood out. My husband ordered the Crab Cake Sandwich, and this... this one stood out to us. The crab cake was cooked to perfection. My husband described it as "a crispy crab cake that was moist inside and made with real crab". We all tasted it and agreed that it was the winner in dinner choices this evening. Overall, I highly suggest getting anything with crab as those dishes were our favorite of the night. Called the restaurant the next day to report the incident just to make them aware of potential problems in the kitchen. Because my wife and I had made a day trip of a two-hour drive to the Solomons Island area and we'd arrived early, we decided to first explore the nearby Calvert Cliffs State Park to build up our appetites. During a seemingly longer than advertised 3.6 mile, roundtrip hike through the woods on a very hot day and a brief, but refreshing, cool dip at the beach, we started asking everyone around us for recommendations for a good, local seafood restaurant. We had three different groups of people recommend The Pier Restaurant. However, because I had previously read about a nearby restaurant also named the Pier that seemed to be overly pretentious, I still wasn't quite sold on "The Pier." This is something of a touristy place but it does have local following. It's clean, bright and as the name implies it's on the pier. The large glass windows give a beautiful view of the water and depending on where you sit, you get either the bay bridge, the coastline or the bay. The service is great; staff is friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, quick and accommodating. The food is ok, the garden salad was basically lettuce with a little bit of onion rings. The shrimp tacos had perfect shrimp but the lettuce all wrong and the corn tortillas were just bad. Ruined the whole experience. Their coleslaw is decent. But the most popular item for the group was the chicken sandwich. The ice tea was best part of the meal. It was perfectly sweetened. read more
