    Not a medium rare steak

We arrived at Bar Bouchée exactly at our reservation time and stood awkwardly for five minutes -- no host, no greeting, no clear idea of what to do. When someone finally acknowledged us, we were just told to "wait." Ten minutes later, we checked in again, only to be told that our table was still occupied, with no real update or apology. Trying to make the best of it, we went to the bar to order a drink while we waited, but the bartender responded with an attitude and told us "the host will be with you soon" -- which had nothing to do with the fact that we were simply trying to get a drink while we stood there waiting. It was an unnecessary brush-off. We were finally seated over 30 minutes after our reservation, and placed our full order right away, hoping to make up for lost time. But then the cheese board took another 30 minutes to arrive. When we asked, we were told there was some kind of miscommunication -- again, no real ownership or urgency. Then came the main course. I ordered the bavette steak medium rare, but what I got was clearly rare and chewy, as the photo shows. When I mentioned it, the waitress did say it looked maybe on the rare side to her but also that Bavette can come out like that looking red - but Undercooked and poorly prepared is not a feature of the cut. We didn't want to wait longer so just ate some. To be fair, our waitress was kind and acknowledged the issues, but it was one of the most frustrating "high-end" dining experiences I've had. At these prices and with this reputation, you expect better service, better pacing, and food cooked properly. Instead, it felt like we were an afterthought the entire night.

Great vibe and flavor. Friendly service Portion is on the smaller side (especially the salad)

Always something new on the menu

This is absolutely my favorite restaurant in the area -always a good vibe and the food is incredible. The menu changes with the season -highly recommend you make a reservation now!

Stopped here for a little dinner before a show and was delighted to enjoy a delicious country style French meal in an outdoor seating that was more than cozy. An "Al fresco" seating area is equipped with lovely radiant heat that kept the drizzly night from getting us down. We began with escargot and a chicken liver mousse that was rich, velvety and just luscious. A petit hanger steak, cooked to perfection and a plate of handmade cheese filled pasta pillows served with a rich lamb ragout was just what I needed to satisfy my voracious appetite. Attentive server and beautiful decor keeps this place on the top of my fine dining list. BTW, the craft cocktail Bees Knees was a delicious blend of Bar Hill gin with a cinnamon simple syrup and dash of nutmeg was just perfect

Im afraid i confused Bar Bouchee with Cafe Routier!!!!! Ive been to both and both FABULOUS but the pics here are Cafe Routier Le cuisinière est magnifique !!!! il y a un place endroit confortable et décontracté, mais le nourritures est extraordinaire !!! and of course they speak English the food is wonderful and authentic French cuisine

We adore Bar Bouchee but I think what makes it exceptional is Christine, one of the waitresses. She makes every meal there fee like I've flown across the ocean and am back in France. Best escargot but the shrimp special this time was the star of the show! We bring our son, who's 6, and he is always fine there but I wouldn't necessarily say it's kid-friendly inside.

I was searching for something that could match up to Maison Bar Vins back home. First off can we talk about the bones of the place. The Taft building which once was a hotel now sits and houses a very charming French restaurant with a chef who could care less who you are or if your camera is permanently to your hand. I sat at the bar and the chef seated me. I opted out for their three course pre fix bar menu. Chef and owner Vincent who had trained under ICONS in the culinary world met me with this good old fashion old school attitude that today's foodie influencers could never understand. Serious poised stern energy that I love so much about old world cooking boh lore. The food was great. The playlist was upbeat, the kitchen had energy. We returned for Father's Day and we were seated immediately without a reservation, though I think we just got lucky so I don't recommend this. It was all a hit, and when a 3.5-year-old and a 22-month-old are enjoying your food without any coaxing or help, you know it's fabulous! My husband got some cocktail and I got the phony Negroni mocktail. Service was great and the atmosphere is chic without being uptight or snobby at all. We all left really happy. The fries were amazing and when they were drenched in that gravy it was chefs kiss! What really brought it all the together was the salad paired with it- it was light and refreshing and the dressing was so good! For dessert our server suggested the chocolate custard so we got that and a berry handpie. We ate both and kept saying "oh my god" with each bite. My daughter especially loved the chocolate custard but my husband and I loved both equally! We immediately said after our meal how we have to come back. We cannot wait to try other menu items and their cocktails next time. We are huge fans and will definitely be back!!

We were seated by the window and were given freshly baked bread. We ordered the French classics: mussels, escargot, duck leg confit, and steak and fries. The mussels came out first and were pretty average. I usually like sipping the wine broth it comes with or dipping fries/bread into the broth. The escargot had plenty of oil and seasoning. It was actually too salty even though my coworker requested less salt on everything. I enjoyed dipping the fresh bread into the oil. Lastly came the entrees. I was a bit disappointed in both of them. The hanger steak was cooked medium rare like I wanted but the texture was not great. I was hoping for a more tender cut and this was a bit tough and lean. The frites were cooked well and very crispy. The duck confit was very tender but I didn't think it was amazing. Overall I don't think I will be returning to this restaurant with so many other great options around. I might be biased as I am not too familiar with French cuisine but we already sampled most of the classics already.

I hosted my daughter's bridal shower here in mid-May 2026, and from start to finish, everything was exceptional. From the expert guidance and thoughtful suggestions of the bistro managers, Kristi and Whitney, to the incredibly professional and attentive servers, and the talented chef and kitchen staff, every detail was handled flawlessly. The décor is whimsical and beautiful, with large doors that open onto a charming patio area. The bar is spacious and elegant, making it the perfect setting for our Spritz Bar, which was beautifully displayed and expertly managed. We hosted a large group of 60 women, and the table arrangement allowed everyone to mingle comfortably while still having plenty of space to move around. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us, even helping with setup and moving a banquette to create the perfect backdrop area for photos. And the food!! Absolutely fabulous! Our menu choices included: Rigatoni with Flambéed Baby Shrimp, Steak and Eggs, Chicken Paillard, or Branzino with Haricots Verts Almondine, with thoughtful options for gluten-free guests and vegetarians. Impressively, the kitchen managed to serve all meals at the same time; a true testament to their professionalism. Dessert was a stunning custom cake by The Frosted Rose Bakery who created a work of art from a photo I provided. They delivered the cake directly to the bistro, which made everything so seamless. The staff served it alongside ice cream, and we also enjoyed family-style platters of fresh fruit at each table. Friends and family are still raving about the event and the venue.
