For drinking, it's pretty good. Great beer selection and very good bartending. When it gets over-crowded during the fall and spring semesters, it's tough to get a bartender's attention. If you like Irish food, Maggies is the place for you. If you don't . . . the other menu choices are nothing special. I will say the Potato/Leek soup is really really good. It has a good, rich flavor, a bit of kick and isn't too heavy. If we're only out for drinks, Maggie's is a great option. If the plan is dinner, I'll go somewhere else. read more

I've been to Maggie's several times with and without my family. I tried to visit with my two year old daughter at 4 pm on a Saturday WAY before dinner starts, and they refused to seat us even though there were many tables open and the place was half empty. The hostess claimed they didn't have enough servers. The hostess didn't even apologize and expected us to just stand there and wait. She was clearly trying to get rid of us. read more

Although the bar is in a college town, you don't get that vibe when you are there. Consistent service, good food, good selection of beer on tap. Great for a young, professional or post college crowd. If you are in uptown, want drinks, and want food, Maggie's is your place. They have a full bar, an excellent wait staff, and a fun atmosphere. But, after 9 this changes. As packed as the place can be, especially once the restaurant shuts down, it's surprisingly clean. Really have to complement the servers today. We went with our young children (2.5 and 6 months). They are well behaved when out to eat and we make sure that we are not a distraction or noisy for other patrons. However, a toddler sized orange juice was spilled and our waitress quickly and politely cleaned everything up while we kept the kids out of the mess. She really went above and beyond to make our experience great! read more

Love this place. I am here all the time. Table service during the nights are pretty slow but you have to understand that it is packed in there. Prices are alright, not super cheap but worth it. Not bad, if you can get in. We went the other night, were told it'd be a 45 min wait and that we should have made a reservation. So we called the next day to ask for a reservation and were told they don't take reservations. So, I'm not sure what they expect. The food itself is ok and the beer is good, but their usually quite rude about giving you a table. read more

I liked the atmosphere, I was here for game 1 of the Stanley Cup, my waitress was great as was the beer. Unfortunately, I can't say that for my food, I ordered fish and chips, they were burnt, so bad, that I couldn't douse them enough with malt vinegar. In response to Jeff C. Maggie Mileys was designed by the Irish Pub Company in Dublin, Ireland. Many of the recipes came from the family of the Managing Partner from Dublin, Ireland along with the brick a black and small stools that were purchased from a pub in Ireland and shipped. Lamb would be great in the pie as well as the stew but would also drive up the price to point that would not be affordable to the average consumer. As far as a black & tan, all Irish pubs do them and was originated with Smithwicks & Guinness by the Guinness Brewery. It was marketed as Bass & Guinness to the states because of a deal between the breweries. read more

Maggie's is a good, chill place to go for a drink. It can get busy with students on some nights but it's not really a college bar. I'm not a fan of the food; a lot of it is heavy and fried. Not many vegetarian options. I think they take their Irish image too far sometimes, like when they constantly play traditional Irish songs. Don't waste your money in the jukebox. It'll take your money and never play your songs because it's not hooked up. Also, they don't allow you to just have drinks at a table during meal times, which is unfortunate. I understand wanting to keep the tables available but sometimes it'd be nice to be able to sit and talk with friends over drinks. read more

This is a quite decent Irish Pub. We had the potato soup, which was really rich and good and the turkey sandwich, also a tasty dish. The portion size is exactly how you want it to be - not too big and not too small - just filling. The waiter serving us was fun and took very good care of us. I went to Maggie Miley's yesterday with my daughter and her best friend. The potato leek soup was delicious, I wished that I had ordered a bowl of it and been done. My fish and chips were the worse that I have ever eaten at any restaurant. The fish tasted reheated and was dry and not fresh. The fries had no seasoning at all. I don't think I will ever visit Maggie Miley again. I was so disappointed. read more

This place is great! Food is excellent, service is excellent, particularly the desserts are awesome. Outdoor seating is also a plus for nice spring outings. I would caution against going on St. Patrick's day or later in the evening, as it gets incredibly loud, but I'm not a bar goer, so I won't ding a star for that. read more

I really enjoyed this place because it reminded me of the bars im used to in the Chicago area. Really nice layout and awesome atmosphere for a bar in a college town. Whiskey Wednesday is always a good night to go if you like whiskey. The beer mixes are all very good, and the staff is very friendly. Food is great. Only complaint was one night I had made reservations many hours in advanced for a table of 7 and one booster seat for my niece, when I got there they only had 6 chairs and no booster seat. My dad who was with us and really doesn't have the best patience had to complain to get the chair and booster, but from then on the staff couldn't be more friendly. I recommend this place to anyone that says they are going to ISU or just down to Normal, IL. I hope when I go back to visit there are more places like this. read more
