Due to the high cost of any personal services these days I had all but quit doing professional salon treatments. It was literally costing more to do my hair then go to the doctor. So, I had not been in a salon in over two years. For a long time I have heard good things about this salon and had wanted to try it. So after a particularly bad week involving a critically ill family member and being exhausted and needing a boost I decided I would bite the bullet as far as cost was concerned and treat myself to some lowlights and a trim, a little reset if you will. Lowlights and a trim. That's it. Should be pretty simple. I have to say without a doubt this was one of the worst color experiences I have ever had. My hair was to blonde and brassy, so I wanted a few low lights to mix it up a little. That's it. And I'm not even that picky. I'm not sure what the stylist did, but it was awful. It was like there were two colors, my roots and around my face were very white and the rest was very yellow. Like sunflower yellow. I wish I had taken a picture. She said the low lights she put in just didn't take for some reason. She wasn't sure why. She kept trying to convince me it was so natural looking and that it would grow out nicely blended since I have gray roots. She did offer a free blow-dry but there was a charge for it on the receipt "haircut with blowdry finish $60" as well as an $80 color glaze (whatever that is). Then she made some offer about fixing it at my house. That it would be fine with a "shadow root", so she knew she blew it. No thank you. I was beyond disappointed, wishing I had never walked through the door. I sat in my car and cried for 20 minutes before I went home. The next day was Easter, and we were having family for dinner and my hair was so bad I wanted to cancel. But instead, I went to Walgreens and got a box color to cover it up until I can find a salon to fix it. And for this I paid $369.23, of which $150 was a required deposit. Never again. Do your research, ask to see photos of previous work, whatever you have to do to protect yourself from an experience like this. read more

They were very friendly. They put me with the person I had an appointment immediately. Julia, my hair stylist was awesome. She looked at my hair. She talked to me about how to maintain and take care. Two appointments later and I'm positive I've found my new hair salon. First appointment: Haircut and color consultation. Second appointment: Balayage and covering of gray hair (because yes, I'm relatively young, but I have a few!). Both appointments I had a blow dry as well. Randi styled me on both occasions and each time I walked out feeling like a queen. Randi really knows her stuff! She explained to me in vivid detail what I would be getting done and she made sure I'd walk out a pleased customer. I think the only odd thing I found about this salon was that I didn't get my haircut and balayage done the same day. When I had phoned in after consulting them on Yelp about an appointment, they told me that color consultations were done before any dye work. Yes, fine, that makes sense, but I would have thought it'd be done the same day. Oh well. Not complaining in the long scheme of things. I did call around Christmas, so I do know how busy the salons were. I found them on Yelp, after all, and they answered me quickly. Some salons flat out responded they were booked. If you're a new customer, they give you a $20 discount on your first visit. I thought that was generous of them. Not sure if that check-in offer is still on Yelp, but I got it when I checked in. Not to mention that the woman on the phone mentioned it to me as well. Just something to think about. At any rate, I'm sure I'll return in a few months when I decide to do my biannual visit to the hair salon. Seriously, before these two appointments, last time I went to a hair salon was last July. In 2020 I found Maggie the Salon and since then i have looked no further. I love coming here knowing i am going to get the spot on service i expect every time. Great customer service, the BEST hair washes, high quality products used, everything. I've done everything from their head spa to a blow dry. I've come here when im sad and need a pick me up (lol), tired, happy, bored, and special events haha. I always look forward to getting my hair done here. I can't recommend it enough! This salon is very clean and appealing. It is so modern. The color bar looks like a fun place to get your hair colored even though I will not be doing that until I need to in the future. They have so many great shampoos, conditioners and hair styling products in general. Too bad I am fully stocked for a while. The receptionist and another hair professional greeted me so warmly. Anyway, I was very pleased with Keira. She did a great job on my hair. She really listened to what I wanted and I love how my hair turned out. She did not cut too much, just the right amount. I found this salon on the Wigs for Kids website as an ambassador salon that gives free haircuts in exchange for hair donations! This was exactly what I wanted to do: cut my hair and donate it and for (hopefully) a discount. I called, made an appointment, found it a little difficult to get to the location (3 wrong turns made in the highway labyrinth) and got in late, so I missed out on a neck massage in my service. Now that I know, I will make sure to be 30 minutes early for a next appointment lol. Everyone, staff and clients, was wearing their masks, which made me feel much more comfortable. My stylist (I believe her name was Jenna but don't quote me) was bubbly, friendly and helpful with her suggestions about how to cut and style my hair. We agreed on a bob like cut after she measured the amount of hair I would be cutting off for the donation, and she was very thorough and precise with creating a straight line of the hair ends. She suggested created some bangs to frame my face, and I loved the return of my bangs after I grew old ones out during the pandemic! The blowout ($35) is separate from the cost of a haircut, so I paid for that, but it was luxurious having my hair curled and dried with the round brush for the first time in ages. I think she used a small amount of oil to pretreat my hair before the blowout, which prevented my hair from frizzing all over the place. What I love about this salon, besides the bright space and cozy placement of styling chairs that enabled banter between the clients and stylists across different chairs, is that they use Aveda products. Aveda is the s**t in terms of ingredients (vegan all the way), effectiveness and scent. I've never met an Aveda treatment or cleanser I didn't like, and I appreciate that Maggie is an Aveda salon. If I need another hair service, I'll think of returning here again! read more

Hair is like a girls crown and I put a lot of effort in my hair. I spend money for good products and treatments to let them grow / be healthy. Two days ago I had my first appointment here. I told Jasmine that I want to let my hair growth and asked for layers to thinner my hair at the end. Was to bold for me. This girl Jasmine never has a license for this job. I really don't like to write reviews like that but this was my worst experience I've had in my life. She is never doing this job since 2 years. Good for her she wasn't in salon today. That's my final result for 70$ (regular price) and layered cut with blow dry I asked for.. "It will grow again" is not what a customer wants to hear. I'm always loathe to seek a new hairdresser, but after stalking Yelp for highly rated salons for months I finally took the dive. It was easy to get an appointment, in fact they fit me in next day. Staff were friendly from the moment I arrived until I left. My stylist (Jillian?) was great; asking for my input the entire time. Sinks were comfortable, and they even give a hot towel treatment and scalp massage. I'm happy with my cut, and the price was reasonable. read more

Really loved the partial highlights and hair cut when I went recently. My hair stylist was Claudia and I would recommend anyone to go see her, she was very nice and really listened to what I wanted. Vibe was friendly for the most part. I was asked if I wanted water, coffee or tea, which made me feel welcomed. Only reason I gave the establishment a three star is because the price listed online after I booked excluded the $75 fee required for a toner. I understand the toner is a crucial part for this process, and was willing to pay for it, I just didn't appreciate that I was told after I had paid the $100 deposit, and got snappy attitude from one of the other hairstylists trying to justify it. When I get to the salon they made me sign a two page notice of services and fees and the total was $210 instead of the $145 I had in mind. If money is not an issue for you and you don't care to be charged extra hidden fees then you have nothing to worry about! Although I loved my hair, personally I would not go back due to the lack of communication they have about their fees for their services, it felt very shady! Terrible! Do not use this salon. I went for a Cezanne treatment done by Maggie (not the owner, another Maggie). The treatment did not work. It is a natural keratin treatment which is supposed to take the frizz out of your hair. I have had this done before by other salons and it has always worked, making my hair shiny and not frizzy. My hairdresser at my salon in NYC saw my hair when I went for a haircut 4 days later after returning to NYC. He has known me for decades. He told me that my hair was very dry and had a terrible odor which he had never smelled before after a keratin treatment. He had to wear a mask while cutting my hair, the odor was so bad!! I was very embarrassed. He told me something was definitely not right. Now, after 3 weeks this terrible smell is still in my hair. If I wear a shower cap, the entire inside of the cap has a funky smell. My hair began to smell as a direct result of this treatment. I made an appointment to see Maggie, the owner, after returning to Florida last week. Talk about blaming the victim! She insinuated that I was lying about the smell in my hair (I am a 73-year-old professional woman -really?) by saying she wasn't there. She seemed absolutely outraged that I wanted my money back. The treatment was hundreds of dollars! I guess she thinks this is a perfectly desirable outcome of a Cezanne treatment. My guess is that they used expired products or didn't mix it properly, although I will never know for sure. Instead of apologizing for the horrible job which her salon did and admitting that she did not know what went wrong with the treatment and why there was such a bad smell in my hair, she questioned my veracity. She added insult to injury. Also, she saw my hair and saw how frizzy it was. She did offer to have them do it again, but would you let them touch your hair again after this??? So, my fellow potential customers, I would not go near this salon with a 10-foot pole. Even if you do not have this treatment done, know that if anything goes wrong with whatever you do there, you will not have anyone on your side. Bad business practice, bad human relations. read more

After reading such glowing reviews for this salon in Pembroke Pines, I called to schedule an appointment for my 90 year old mom...I was surprised to find upon arrival, the hairdresser who was assigned to my mom because she was good at cutting thin hair, told me she couldn't cut my moms hair because she didn't know how! I was shocked! I explained to the receptionist that when I made the appointment I clearly advised her my mom was 90, has dementia and very little hair and she went on to recommend this particular "stylist". I've never heard anything like that in all my life! I had to turn around and leave with my disabled mom. thankfully I found another salon in the same shopping center, walked in and explained my situation, they took my mom right away and did an Excellent job... at a fraction of Maggie the salons price! shame on you guys! For the past 10-12 years I have been a loyal patron of Maggie the Salon, so long ago that I really don't remember a start date. Life being perfectly imperfect I have been asked on occasion to adjust my arrival date or time in order to allow these creative professionals to complete their work with previous appointments. With life being perfectly imperfect I have been late on occasion and even missed two appointments. Guilty as charged, but not too bad for 12 years. On the two occasions that I missed appointments I went to my stylist, handed her cash compensation and a humble apology. Recently my wife received a call from my stylist informing her that I was 9 minutes late for my appointment and would now need to wait for a later appointment that day. I was indeed late and hearing this news turned around and returned home to wait for the new appointment generously offered that day. When my service was concluded I was informed that from now on I would need to pay a $50 deposit for all future appointments. This deposit equaled the full price of the next appointment omitting only gratuity. I conservatively spend $1200 a year for the service , $650 in cash gratuity, and an unknown amount (guesstimate $220) for charged gratuity. Yes, I tipped well. It would be foolish to think that only one person or one salon could cut my hair. Aveda is just down the street. For Maggie the salon I wish for them perfect customers who never forget, are never late, and always tip well. read more

Haven't spent much time in any salons as a comparison but this spot seemed sharp. I had hair growing halfway down my back that I'd grown tired of and wanted to donate it. They have a policy with free haircuts for those willing to donate it to Wigs For Kids which was what brought me in here in the first place. I was a little anxious to lose the hair I'd had for around 3 years, but the provided wine helped a little with that. I wasn't thrilled with the actual haircut, but that's more on the individual I went to not the location. But when I asked for a dry haircut since I just washed my hair, she said better wet. She asked a very young women with a black pony tail and leggings to do my hair. She looked at me up and down and says "I don't do dry haircuts" The lady at the counter said next one at 3:30 pm. I think the young women acted like she "owns the place and sets the rules." This was to be my third visit to the Salon. The first two times I had to trim the hairs that were missed to make the cut even. A minor bother but this never happened at a salon before. The last time I had an appointment I had to pay a $35.00 deposit ,which I did when I made the appointment. On my way to the appointment I received 2 phone calls on my cell. The second time I was told I can't get a blow dry. I arrived 10 min late due to traffic and road construction . Upon arrival I was told I was 15 min late. I stated I didn't appreciate being called twice while I was driving. Instead of getting me in I was lectured by the staff. I had been up all night with my sick grandchild and was looking forward to getting my hair done. I have never been disrespected like this . I left after telling them to just keep my deposit. Went to Maggie The Salon from a recommendation. Been trying to find a new stylist since mine got married and moved away a few years ago. Saw Alex's work on instagram and decided to make an appointment with her. Overall I was pleased with how my hair turned out. The salon itself is modern looking. They have a specific area for color application which is different from other places I've been to. You're in essence sitting at a big table with other clients who are also getting color done. The wash bowl is THE MOST COMFORTABLE bowl I have ever had my hair washed in. It fully supports your neck and was actually kind of relaxing. While the end result is not exactly what I wanted in terms of color, I am happy with how it turned out. I am also pleased with my haircut and style. Alex was very friendly throughout the whole process and made sure to ask if I was happy, while offering to stay later if I wanted anything corrected or adjusted. One other thing to mention is that I have an insanely tender scalp. It's been difficult finding someone who isn't rough with my hair. Alex was aware and made sure to be extra gentle. Something I truly appreciate. Overall, not 100% happy with the outcome, but about 90% there. I would go back and I would recommend this place to others. read more
