Chilaquiles

This place was busy this week! I went with friends for lunch thinking it'd be chill. Nope! It was very much alive. The world cup was on all tvs and fans were cheering loudly. It's definitely a fun place to watch spots and enjoy some food. We sat outside and had a very nice breeze. Our server was really attentive and nice. Food was pretty good. We all ordered breakfast. I tried chilaquiles. Not bad. I'd order from the happy hour menu next time and try carne asada fries. It's cool hh starts at lunch. Great way to draw the crowd in! I like the location because it's near work and across the street from Mercado. Parking was challenging but usually it's not difficult.

Absolutely fabulous!! A little out of the way but so worth the ride over! Don't miss this place for breakfast. Food, service, staff, and atmosphere was outstanding. This is one of the breakfast places I've had. Tex is for breakfast is great.

If you ever need a simple and comforting breakfast spot, my partner and I always keep Maggie's in mind. There's something pretty welcoming about the place. The staff greets you the moment you walk in, and it sets the tone for an easy, chill meal. The breakfast menu isn't trying to reinvent anything, but that's exactly why we love it. I always go for the strawberries and bananas French toast. The fruit tastes fresh, the cream is sweet, and they make the kind of classic, cozy breakfast that can't go wrong. The toast, eggs, potatoes, and bacon are cooked pretty simple. I also recommend the strawberry-banana smoothie. It's creamy, not overly sweet, and it feels like the perfect little treat to finish up breakfast. It's nothing crazy but the kind of spot that doesn't need to be flashy. It's just consistently good, friendly, and comforting.

Maggie's Cafe is the kind of San Diego spot you don't brag about -- you just quietly make it part of your routine. Super cozy, relaxed ocean-resort Mexican cafe vibe, no fake VIP energy, no nonsense... just good food, friendly people, and a smooth operation. Had the breaded steak, eggs, and potatoes breakfast -- honestly awesome. Proper flavor, satisfying portion, exactly what you need before a full day of moving and building things. Big thanks to David for letting me try some and for the legendary warning that the salsa has "a little kick." For him maybe... for me let's just say it definitely wakes you up. But superb -- fresh, bold, and addictive. Staff feels professional but very easygoing, organized without being stiff. The whole place runs clean and simple, which I respect a lot. Lately I've been around Gaslamp more often since expanding my high-end 24/7 art-studio-grade digital & offset printing lab downtown under the iPrintSD™ name. Becoming part of the downtown community means discovering local gems like this -- and Maggie's is definitely staying on my breakfast and lunch rotation. Well deserved 5 stars. Real spot. Real vibe. I like it. A for surr!

I needed breakfast and chose Maggie's Cafe and I was definitely happy I did so. I started with a cup of Cafe de Olla and my mug was kept fresh constantly which was highly appreciated. I then chose the Tex Mex Omelette w/ potatoes and a side of beans. I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty this omelette was. The potatoes were perfectly seasoned. The beans added a very nice dimension to this overall breakfast experience and I will definitely be back for more!

Nice restaurant and bar in the Barrio across the street from Northgate Market. We were there at a the lunch hour, but they also had breakfast available which is what we had--stuffed French Toast with eggs and bacon sausage , and a chili relleno omelet withe beans and rice. Good size helpings and delicious. Especially the beans and rice. It's a nice airy place. They have lots of drinks and a big bar if you are looking for that.

A big and spacious Mexican restaurant with delicious food with huge portions, friendly service, and a warm atmosphere. I stopped by with a group of friends for lunch this past weekend and we had an excellent meal here. Service was friendly and accommodating with our orders. All the TVs on the walls were showing the latest sports which we all enjoyed watching while eating our food and enjoying our drinks. The chips with guac and salsa we got were wonderful with the chips being freshly fried and the gauc was so fresh. The salsa had a great kick of heat to it. I ordered the Chile Relleno Omelette and it was delicious. The rice and beans on the side were good and the chile relleno inside the omelette was oozing with cheese and the chile itself was spicy! The portion size was well worth the price and the dish overall was flavorful. If you need a good breakfast/lunch spot and are in the mood for some Mexican food, come check out this spot!

Stopped by here after a weekdaydaily mass, and was able to sit right away. Overall place was very clean and tidy. The menu was pretty easy to pick from, and had good options. The meals themselves were good and served at a good price. The coffee refills were also easy to get as well. The wait staff was very friendly and had no problem with slight modifications for our orders. Parking outside was easy since there's a lot of open spots shared with the other businesses. Overall, recommend for checking out while you're in San Diego. It's got a lovely charm to it, and is one of the best parts of Barrio Logan. Will plan on returning.

First time going here. Went around 10am and got sat down right away. The service was amazing, David our server was super funny and helpful in terms of helping us decide on food options. The ambiance was great I loved it. The food was amazing everything tasted authentic and it really hit the spot. Their mimosas are also really good, he made them with strength lol

The food is really good, my tortilla soup was just what I needed and so was my Paloma. We didn't get greeted till 8 min after we sat down, we had to get someone's attention, but they were friendly and attentive afterwards. The place is spacious with parking out front, it's a cute Mexican restaurant.

Great service, awesome food and a nice atmosphere. Service was fast, friendly and accommodating. The patio out front is very inviting and colorful, fun vibe to sit outside. The food speaks volumes! Everything was fresh, flavorful and cooked to perfection. Definitely a place to visit again and put on rotation!

I'm coming back for tripas and guacamole!!!

The ambiance is cohesively eclectic and every part of the restaurant is fun to look at! We came in without a reservation at 6 and were seated immediately. Our hostess was wonderful, as was our bartender who we also put in our food orders with. We first ordered the starspun and luck dragon drinks. Both were fantastic and came out quickly! For food we ordered the BBQ jackfruit sandwich with fries and Egg roll burger with brussel sprouts on the side. Both were absolutely phenomenal, we could not pick a favorite! I am a lifelong vegetarian but my boyfriend eats and enjoys meat and we were both blown away by the food here! Meat eaters and vegans alike will all love this place:) We capped the night off with a Gloom coil and Iron bell! Both were fantastic but we decided that the Iron Bell was the best drink of the night in both of our opinions (I would recommend it to anyone who goes). Kindred is a great weekly date night spot with fun drinks and fantastic (and relatively well priced) food!

So I turned around and stopped in. What I found was a quaint, tucked-away, almost inconspicuous spot delivering food and hospitality at a level that honestly borders on absurd for how unassuming it appears from the outside. The service was warm, polished, and intuitive without ever feeling pretentious. Hats off to both chefs, Christi and Mark for making me feel welcome. The wine pairings? Thoughtful, balanced, and exactly what you hope for from a restaurant that actually respects food. And then there's the burger. This thing reads like poetry: Ribeye and NY strip trim blend, cooked like a proper steak (medium rare, the only correct answer here), melted gouda, a soft house potato roll, all resting in a luxurious bordelaise sauce that would make a French chef nod in approval. Seriously. This is not a "burger joint burger." This is a chef-driven, butcher-minded expression of beef. Every bite tastes intentional. The bordelaise underneath ties the entire thing together with this deep, glossy richness that elevates it from comfort food into something bordering on fine dining. Places like this are why I still love discovering restaurants organically. No hype machine. No gimmicks. Just confidence, technique, restraint, and execution. This very unassuming little spot has Michelin written all over it.

The staff is entitled, upright and annoying. They don't have a proper waiting list system. You can't pay with your cc, only zelle and or venmo. Juan Jaspar is VERY dog friendly, like over the top. There's literally more dogs than people. They have sketchy chairs outside for you to wait until their heart desires. One tip for this desperate little place: time your tables to 90 mins max. You don't have the square footage nor the grit to keep it up. I do not recommend this place to myself nor anyone else. I am banning myself indefinitely from Juan Jaspar. Trust your gut people. I said I wouldn't go back and I did. That was mi mal.

Our waitress was a total superstar and took great care of us with service and answering questions. We even joked about Star Trek a bit. I ordered the Rose salad and some roasted potatoes (Bravas Rosas). The potatoes were really delicious and well-seasoned with crunchy and soft parts and a nice spicy dipping sauce. I wanted to love the salad because it was large and well-dressed, BUT the lettuce was gritty and could've used a more thorough rinse. I ended up not eating much of it because the texture wasn't good. One of my friends got the Rose Salad Pie which she really enjoyed (basically a pizza with Rose Salad on top) and my other friend got the gazpacho which really liked. I would definitely come back and try some other dishes. If I do, I'll update the review!
