Vica's Cafe is such a cute little gem in Chula Vista. The owner was so sweet, and the service was friendly from start to finish. We ordered the French Toast, Pink Pancakes, Poblano Omelette, Chiles en Nogada, Birriaquiles, and Cafe de Mazapan, and honestly, we enjoyed everything. The Pink Pancakes were so pretty and made for the cutest photos. The Poblano Omelette had a delicious, creamy poblano green sauce. The Chiles en Nogada was probably the most unique dish for me. The sauce was sweet and yummy, while the savory ground beef & pork, plus the pops of pomegranate seeds, created such an interesting contrast. We dipped the breakfast potatoes into the sauce and it was so good! Definitely a dish I'd recommend trying. The Birriaquiles came with a good amount of birria, and the meat was juicy and tender. And the Cafe de Mazapan was not only pretty but also yummy! It's a perfect sweet coffee pick-me-up for brunch. The interior is absolutely adorable - everything is pink and feminine, truly a pink girl's dream! I'd come back to try more of their menu. read more

I don't normally leave food reviews, but unfortunately this experience was disappointing. The service was slow we had to ask for creamer three times and water multiple times. My steak was tough, and my brother's machaca and beans tasted old and were inedible. I had no issue paying half for the meals, even though my brother's food was untouched. What really bothered me was how the server handled it, loudly questioning us in front of other customers and saying there had been no complaints about the beans. It became so uncomfortable that another table asked for our experience as this was our first time as well and two other tables ended up leaving. I ended up paying cash because I didn't feel comfortable using my card after the experience. Hopefully management can address both the food quality and how customer complaints are handled. read more

The waffles were soft like pancakes with very little flavor, and the chilaquiles were overly salty without any unique or stand-out flavor--I also assume they cook with lard based on the taste and texture. The Café de Olla was way too heavy on the piloncillo, and it honestly didn't taste like it was made fresh. ​Service was good, but the food just wasn't above average. On top of that, it's expensive for what it is--the quality doesn't equal the high price point. The husband & I have been loving Vica's Cafe so much we had to bring the parentals for breakfast after church. They needed to experience their wonderful food too!! All locals should be aware of this little hidden gem. I was visiting from out of town and found this place to surprise my mother for breakfast. We enjoyed our entire experience even though we were busy our server was very attentive throughout our meal. The pink and marble really made the interior of the restaurant pop too. Came here on a whim because our other breakfast spot was packed - Did a quick search on Yelp & found this spot! It looks like this place is pretty new based on their Yelp business profile. The cafe has a shared private lot with other businesses. The business itself is very aesthetic & PINK! My favorite color. So I was definitely in love when I saw the interior. IG/social media worthy place to take photos. Everything comes out so aesthetically cute. The one thing that stood out to me the most during our entire visit though - was our waitress, HAZEL! Young, bubbly, friendly, professional, & high energy vibes. Which just makes you wanna match her energy. She made us feel comfy the second we walked in. She provided her recommendations & made sure we were taken care of the entire time. We'd visit here again based on her service alone. We ordered the birria omelette with a side of panela, birria chilaquiles, a mazapán coffee, lemonade, & sprite. Everything came out quickly! They had chili oil on our table with salt & pepper. I went around lunch time and was seated quickly. They weren't very busy, but the inside of the place is very cute with the pink, black and white decor.
