Been coming to this place since I was a child. It still hits every time, especially in the middle of a rough work day. True comfort food. The carne asada 4-way burrito I got on my most recent visit was fat and scrumptious. The service was great and I got my order super fast.

Burrito Mexicano. Gotta be in the top 3 best burritos I've ever had. Red and green salsa. Unbelievable flavor. Perfect heat. Why has this secret eluded me for so long.

This place is a hidden gem! Their breakfast burritos are so good and so filling. You get a lot of bang for your buck. They really don't skimp out on the meat, beans, cheese, eggs, and rice. The burrito itself was really heavy and I had half a burrito leftover at the end. I really like how it was steaming hot when we got it and salsa is to die for. It just adds the proper amount of acidity and freshness to the burrito. This was the first time trying this place and I'm glad that I did cause it's one of my favorite places to get burritos now. Can't wait to come back to try other delicious foods on the menu!

I've got fourteen hundred sixty three bookmarks. Yeah, I am really good at bookmarking. I bookmark like a champ. But do I actually ever go to any of the places I have bookmarked? This year my New Year's resolution was to get busy visiting some of these places. So last week I looked over my collection and picked Maggie's On the Avenue. I'm so glad I did! If you live in Ventura, you automatically know "The Avenue" means Ventura Avenue, over on the west side of town. I worked for like ten or eleven years on the Avenue and have eaten at many of the Avenue's wonderful little restaurants, but I had never tried Maggie's before. I had no idea where it was. See, the Avenue is long. I mean, really long. It starts in downtown Ventura. I'm not sure exactly where it ends, it goes on for miles and miles. I think you can actually take the Avenue all the way up California, Oregon, and Washington, straight through Canada, and into Alaska. My guess is it probably goes all the way to Pt. Barrow. That's 2,899 miles. Maggie's is only like 15 minutes from Downtown, but to get there you have to drive by a lot of other great lunch places, like Johnny's, Taqueria Tepatilan and Taqueria Cuernavaca. With so many other places so much closer, you have to be dead set on eating at Maggie's to withstand the temptation to pull over and eat at one of those spots. And I was. I was on a mission. Nothing was going to stop me. The reason I picked Maggie's was because I wanted a burrito. Specifically a good Bean, Rice and Cheese burrito. I rarely eat meat burritos because I am very particular. Ridiculously so. I can not deal with mediocre burritos, and I think they suck at most places. I've been burned way too many times. I finally just gave up on meat burritos. These days the only burritos I ever order are Beans, Rice and Cheese. You might think it's easy to find a good BRC burrito, but it isn't. Not at all. So many places serve up bland, uninspired beans and rice. No flava. Not Maggie's! The beans and rice here are good. Real good. They made a fine BRC burrito. So happy I found a new place to score a good burrito when I'm in the mood for one. I particularly like that they offer two sizes: Medium and Large. I don't need a burrito the size of my forearm, so I went with a Medium. It was the perfect size for me. I liked that there was nothing else added to the burrito, too. I wouldn't have minded a little cilantro, but I was happy enough with just the beans rice and cheese. Now that I know where Maggie's is, I will definitely be back. There are actually a few other things I'm eager to try, like the huevos rancheros and the corn burritos. I saw some photos of their hamburgers and I'm definitely going to try one of those, they look so good. Oh, and those Munchers, what are Munchers? I don't know, but I'm gonna find out. Mikey C says: 1 bookmark down, 1,462 to go.

We eat at Maggies for lunch at least 3 times per week. We work nearby. They have the process down over there...from ordering, to picking up, the quickness, and of course the grub! Enjoy the this group very much :)

Great food and good customer service. Hopefully one day they expand their business so there will be multiple locations in Ventura.

Love their breakfast burritos. I usually call a head, but if you don't, you still get you good rather quickly.

GETTING HERE:…read more Located in DTVTA on Main Street, between E.P. Foster Library and Starbucks. Parking is, well, if you know you know. :( REVIEW: This is a great little restaurant and I prioritize coming here every time I am in DTVTA. Recently, I was at the Rubicon Theatre and needed lunch after a show. This location is located within walking distance of the Rubicon and is usually so busy each time I come! My marker of a good place to eat is usually on how busy they are. :) This recent visit I had a torta (my first, didn't catch the name) and it was outstanding! The meat was fresh and hot and the bun was flavorful! I did note that on my next visit here I want to try the Hawaiian (?) torta! Can't wait to be back! The service is always great each time. Thank you to the ladies who are friendly and respectful and greeted us (and all the customers) with a smile. Thank you so much! Definitely recommend!

This is one of the newer Cuernavacas, after the initial location on the Avenue and one in Oxnard,…read morewhere Marshalls and Daiso are located. I've eaten at 3 of their locations, and perhaps this location may be slightly more geared to 'gringo' tastes. I had their breakfast burrito, and unlike most other tacquerias, they give you a lot of nice melted cheese. The beans didn't taste as salty or flavorful as some other taco places. But overall, very satisfying, just didn't have that fully tacqueria taste. I have really enjoyed their veggie Papas and rajas tacos at the Avenue location. This may be the best tacqueria for vegetarians, more options. Staff here tends to be younger (college ages), and generally very friendly. I actually sometimes just stop in for their Horchata. It's not homemade (as that is a very difficult drink to make!) but I find it satisfying. In general all the prices here are reasonable, less than some other places that are charging 15-17 for burritos. This is a strong recommendation if you are downtown and craving casual Mexican eats!

If you love seafood, you gotta check this place out in Ventura. Located right off Main Street, you will find them in the middle of Palm Street. Great ambiance and decor at this resteraunt. They have a bar with TVs so good place to catch sports as we are there for the World Cup. We ordered the grilled malhi tacos and the tuna melt. Both dishes will run you around $20 bucks and THE QUALITY HERE IS SUPERB. Food is very flavorful and fresh. Both items were a 10/10 and can't reccomend enough. Cant wait to come back and try a couple dishes that caught my eye from their menu. Thanks Rumfish y Vino for the great food and hospitality. Till next time!

Have been here many times but it's been a while, seems like happy hour or the kitchen has changed!…read moreService was fine and patio was lovely as always. Ordered the usual Watermelon Mojito and fish taco. The tortilla was extremely oily and flat and smooth unlike any tortilla I've seen. The grilled mahi mahi was very overcooked, dry and almost dusty tasting, I did not finish the taco. Fries were okay. I've been here for many meals but something seems to be different! I usually love the flatbread pizza, the leche de tigre ceviche is not what you'd hope of a true leche de tigre. Dragonfruit caipiroska is on the bland side but love the mojito. Still enjoy the $9 and $10 wines and cocktails.
