unfortunately after coming here for acrylics for about half a year, i decided to stop being a…read morecustomer due to the declining quality of services from my first few appointments up until my last. my nail jobs became more and more rushed as time went on, and the quality of work was really inconsistent depending on how busy the salon would get. most times i felt like just another cash cow. I didn't appreciate the way they seem to just makeup prices to gouge as much out of you as possible--still thinking about the time they charged me extra for top coat...or when they would charge me $10 to fix two broken nails they had just replaced a week before. my nails would break or lift to the point of falling off so easily even after getting them refilled just a couple days before. i thought this was disastrous and a simple reflection of how poor of a job the refills were. it was great while it lasted, and thankfully i get to retire acrylics now. i've moved on to another nail salon nearby that is dedicated to being thorough, detailed, and concise and never sacrifices quality for more customers. if you low key dgaf or don't do acrylics you could probably still come here (the prices are hard to decline), but as someone who is notices the little details this place falls short for me.

And Angela here is especially the one I like so much She is extremely meticulous in her work. From trimming the nail shapes to carefully painting each pattern, every detail is handled just perfectly, exactly the way I've always envisioned. Moreover, she has a wonderful personality. The staff are usually kind, but if you ask something like, "Can we change this part a bit?" they immediately get upset. This time, I brought a design I wanted -- it was very simple. I showed it beforehand, and they told me it was possible, so I sat down. But once they started, they suddenly said they didn't have the spray needed to do the design, and it ended up looking completely different. The result looked terrible. I didn't want to pay $85 for something that looked this bad, so I politely asked if they could fix certain parts. But it became clear that they lacked the skill to do so, and the nail technician seemed increasingly irritated and stressed. As a paying customer, I believe it's normal to make requests, but she became very angry. She started throwing the napkins she used to wipe my nails down at my feet repeatedly, and slammed the bathroom door when she left, as if trying to intimidate or make me feel guilty. It was extremely disrespectful behavior. Eventually, the nail technician was replaced, but by then, 4 out of 5 fingers were already ruined. Only the thumb was redone by a different person, who suddenly started using a completely different sponge and technique. So in the end, all of my nails had mismatched designs. This was truly a terrible experience -- not just in terms of the nail design, but more importantly, in how I was treated. A customer should never be made to feel like they've done something wrong just for asking for what they want, or be treated like a difficult client for making a reasonable request. That kind of attitude is completely unacceptable.

Anyway, I called and scheduled an appointment. Unfortunately once I got there, they said that the nail artist is not working, so I could only go with a simple paint job. I decided to try it out since I had already paid for an Uber to get there. The good thing about it is the nail salon was super adorable inside with lots of flowers and was so clean. It's aesthetically pleasing and peaceful with Frank Sinatra music in the background. I asked for a chrome design but they didn't have chrome polish available in gel, so the next best thing is to use glitter to apply as a top coat to give a similar effect as chrome. I went with baby blue powder on top of white gel polish. The results were mediocre for the color. The one thing I do want to say that I really liked about Iris (nail tech) doing my nails is that she's highly attentive to cuticle trimming and shaping. It's more on the pricier side for nails. Total for my gel manicure was about $100 (60 for gel, 30 for powder add-on, and 10 for gel removal from previous manicure). Usually nail salons charge about $50-60 for manicures and that would be the total, but it's not like that here. Maybe it's an NYC thing? Maybe manicures are cheaper in Cali... Overall, I would definitely come back again but next time I would call ahead and ask if nail designs are available so that I can get exactly what I want.
