I asked for acrylic, the Owner did GelX . She told me it would last and that they're strong. Up charged me for the nails. And in 3 DAYS , ONLY 3 DAYS!! First one nail broke off and then after three of my nails were broken and came completely off. I asked if she can either give me a new set for free or my money back and she refused both. I couldn't go back quick enough I had in event to go to that I needed my nails to be nice for and they were a disgusting . The quality of their Products are terribly cheap. They are very nice people, but after my second visit, I won't be returning. I got a set of Gel X nails a week ago, and I already need to take them off. The nail sizes didn't match properly, and there was thick, uneven glue underneath that looked off. This gave a very inconsistent, sloppy , and unprofessional look. It's been a while since I've gotten my nails done and my skin has been wrecked from the cold weather; Jade non-judgmentally and gently cleaned up my nails, working quickly but very effectively at giving me a great mani pedi. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! I had the worst experience today and I walked away almost crying, I would pay anything for a good service but this experience was a complete disaster. I had a few my natural nails broken and others that were long. I said that I wanted either french tip in all of my nails or just the ones broken, they seemed to not understand, yet they said " yes french tip". They cut all my nails short and then try to do a french on my tiny nails!!! I had a nice pedicure which was was Pleasant, it was a special in crystals with a 10 minute massage. It was not my best pedicure but not my worst. It was an interesting process where the crystals were placed in the water which developed into a thick consistency it felt real good on my tired feet. My problem was the place was small only two seats for pedicure service plus the dryer for my toes was not so good it took 20 mins for my pedicure to dry, my tension spam was going short. I went to New York this weekend, and with an hour or so to kill, I thought it would be fun to get a manicure. I went to Lulu's nail and saw that manicures were $11, but when I went inside, a woman sitting near the door and for me that they were actually $11.50. I agreed to that and the manicure started. The manicurist was really rough and cut two of my cuticles to the point of bleeding, but she didn't notice, and I had to point it out. She also missed the sides of a couple of my nails, and when I pointed that out, she fixed it, but I missed it on two nails and they are just not polished all the way to the edge. That was definitely a bummer, but when I'm the most disappointed about is that by nightfall, one of my nails was badly chipped, and others are chipping away too. When I went to pay, I was informed that it was $12, despite the posted signs and what I was verbally told. It's obviously not a huge price difference, but the inconsistency is really frustrating. There are a ton of nail salons in the area, and even others on the block, so I'd recommend going elsewhere. read more

I have lived in NYC for 8 months. I get a manicure every 2, 3 or 4 weeks and have never been to the same place twice. So you can see, I'm picky lol. Yesterday I searched on Yelp and Google for a nail salon in Manhattan for about 2 hours before I decided on this one. I called at 5pm and made a reservation for 6:45pm. Whoever answered the phone was very polite. She even sounded excited to have me. What I was looking for those two hours: GREAT acrylic nails (DipIt + Shellac = You Can't Go Wrong) by nice technicians who would also give me a back massage. This place was the perfect spot. It also was in my favorite neighborhood to drink in so mega +. I walked in at 6:40pm and picked paint from the large selection of Shellac colors. The store is a little hole in the wall, but I like that there aren't a million people in there with their kids and stuff. Very no frills. I was greeted immediately with smiles and felt very comfortable. Cynthia worked on my nails. I had gel on top of my acrylic so she individually placed remover and cotton on them and used these cute reusable clips to keep it stable instead of foil. She removed the gel very easily with a file (no drills or stuff flying in your face and into your clothes!) She then started to assess my nails and their shape and I told her I had a not-so-great fill-in at this place in Florida and we laughed. Some were just plain crooked and she noticed and said "Yes these two are crooked. I will do my best to make them look better without taking off the entire nail." And she did. Every time she worked on those two nails she held them at different angles to make sure they were straight. The paint job she did literally looks like glass. There is not one imperfection. The shape is EXACTLY what I wanted and they all are even. She took her time to make sure they were perfect and even said to me "If you don't like something, please tell me. I want your nails to be perfect." Like... boom. That's all any technician has to say to win our hearts, amirite? Then she gave my 10-min back massage. It felt amazing and idgaf if the chair was at the front of the store for any passerby to see because I was straight falling into a trance. Total with the Dip fill-in, Shellac manicure and 10 min. massage was $62. I tipped $13 for a total of $75 and it was totally worth it AND I was out of there by 8pm. Cynthia worked quickly and carefully. I will be back! Side note: At one point a girl came in asking for a upper lip waxing and I know that only takes about 2 minutes. So when Cynthia politely asked if I minded her pausing to do that I said "Not at all." And in my opinion, that 2-5 minutes it takes from my manicure is worth it for Cynthia to have ten more dollars because in a way, it's like I gave her that ten dollars. And if you don't realize how hard nail technicians have to work during the day and you get super peeved by a small interruption, then you shouldn't be getting your nails done. I absolutely love coming here to get my nails done, it is my go to. Candy usually does my fingernails and I swear I've never had a gel manicure last so long. They last me 2-3 weeks with no chips or breaking EVERY TIME. GelX lasts excellent as well. Even with repeated gel my nails are still long and healthy and strong. I just came to get my nail polish removed after gel, and I'm honestly traumatized. They soaked my nails in acetone for maybe 3 minutes? And then the lady taking off my polish very harshly scraped my nails with her metal tool as if she was in a very big rush. This was so painful, and to make things worse she filed half of my nail down afterwards until they were paper thin. Literally doing anything now with with my hands is straight up painful. Honestly I was thrilled by reasonable prices but I guess you get what you pay for. The French tips are just bad. Like one is leaking into the clear part of the nail. The color is not dense and here are clear marks where the brushes were. I didn't notice and just assumed those would be things that are so basic they would have been taken care of. Also I asked if they took card and they said no but I see here that they do so idk about that. Just generally not great. I wouldn't typically write a review but i am trying to find a good nail salon and I hope that nobody else must make the same mistake as I. I haven't written a review in a while but felt like I needed to put this out there before anyone goes through this experience. Went for a gel mani, and I was going to get my previous gel removed. The lady soaked each nail for maybe 2 min, used a combination of her nails, a pliers sort of tool and a metro card (!!) to remove the gel. She also had these plastic nail clamps to hold the remover in place, which was covered in other gel dust and I saw her put it back in the box without cleaning then after me. None of my nails are shaped the same, my nail beds are completely scratched up and the manicure itself is sloppy. She continued to pick at the color around my cuticles with her nails while painting them. Never again. read more

I went in with grown out acrylic nails. The ladies here used MetroCards (no joke) to get them off... so unsanitary. Aren't there correct tools for that? I got a fresh coat of gel polish with acrylic tips and my nails started cracking/falling off three days later. Took forever, extremely expensive and a terrible job. I won't be going back. read more

TLDR: Not careful with blood. I don't know how this place has any reviews over a 3. I'm okay with a no frills nails place but this was awful - I shouldn't have been as chill about it as I was. I got dip powder nails which were supposed to be less damaging, but they definitely filed down my nails just as much as acrylics. They didn't cut my cuticles but rather just filed them off incidentally until they started bleeding in 3 places. They then kept buffing them and spreading around my blood - no apology, no gloves, no health concerns. Again, I'm not fussy but this freaked me out. End results were uneven lengths, bad polish, lifting after a week. They couldn't make it cheap enough for me to return. Also I believe I was attended to by the owner. One star because they were super nice and sweet, however, the quality was just not up to par compared to other nail salons in the neighborhood with the same price points. I got a gel manicure in white. The lady who did my nails was older and very sweet. She seemed to have experience filing and I made a mental note that this was probably going to be a good manicure. All was going well until the polish time. My left hand was done fairly well, then the place started to get busy and I felt like she started rushing. I didn't get a chance to really inspect my nails until I was shuffled over to the pedicure chair. Then I noticed I had nail polish all over my right index finger (not even close to the nail). The sides of the nails had the most jagged paint job and looked worse than if I did it blindfolded. I knew I either had to ask her to fix it, or I was going to go home and soak my nails in polish remover all night because i wouldn't be able to go to my job with the nails in their current state. I asked her to fix it and she managed to file some of the excess away and cut it off with the cuticle cutter. It's at least in an acceptable state, but as you'll see from the pics it's not great. I felt too bad to cause an issue in the crowded salon, but I won't go back and my tip reflected my dissatisfaction. I recommend you try elsewhere for your next mani. read more
