I have been taking my Mercedes to Magic Auto Center since 2009 and just had work done this week. The owner Moe, and manager Joe, and the rest of the team have taken great care of my car! I have had everything done from suspension work, alignment work, to new tires, to new sensors, to new fuel pumps, oil changes, and much more. They always go above and beyond to get the job done right and to do it for less when possible. Such as the time I was able to save hundreds when he offered to let me purchase a set of slightly used tires instead of suggesting I buy brand new tires... And just this week I thought for sure there was something really wrong with my car and instead, it was just a bolt that needed to be adjusted.. and they did not charge me anything! ... I don't think I've ever left a bad review before. Joe knows his stuff and is pretty cool over the phone and these guys were good the first time I took my car here. The second time was a huge fiasco though. Joe said he thought they'd have my car done that evening so I could drive it home. This was crucial because I live near downtown Los Angeles. Later that day I called and confirmed and Joe said they definitely would have it ready and that they'd leave it in the lot so I could pick it up to drive home. I get out of work and go to pick up my car and it's not there, the shop is closed and no one is answering the phone. I had called five minutes before their closing time to confirm the car was ready and no one had picked up. Not only did they not have my car ready when Joe said it would be, they had all gone home a few minutes early without thinking to give me the heads up that I wouldn't have it that night. I had to walk a couple miles to the metro link and take the train to downtown LA then walk home from there. I got home at like eleven. Then just a couple weeks ago I went to get my front diff checked. Magic had serviced the rear diff a few months ago but said my front didn't need it yet. The dealer I took it to said not only was my front diff log overdue but my rear was as well! Not only had they apparently not actually checked my front differential but it seems they'd charged me for the rear but did not actually do the service. There's no way to know for sure because I never saw the differential fluid myself. But differentials are only supposed to need servicing every 60k miles or so and I'd only driven 2 or 3k since my rear was supposedly serviced and by the time these new guys checked it, it was super dark and sludgy. I'm thinking Magic just lied about it. Disappointing. I thought I'd found a good place to take my car but it I got screwed here. read more

This post is super late and has been on my to-do list for months. Sorry MAC. The guys at this shop saved not only the day, the weekend!! Our car broke down on 5, that was some drama other drivers are pr!cks! Fast forward to being safely delivered to MAC. Kris gave me good news and bad news, they could fix it but not until Monday. It was Friday morning. This mommy had been planning a surprise 5th birthday trip to DL for months so you can imagine the meltdown that occurred (by me). Kris and Bjorn got to work and had us back on the road within a few short hours. Every employee in that shop was kind and professional. If we lived close this would be our new go to place for all of our car service needs. read more

The only thing "Magic" about Magic Auto center is the sleight-of-hand they pull on you while shot-gunning their approach to trouble-shooting a problem that they clearly had no idea on how to resolve (or did they ?) ($$$$$). They are also very good at making your money disappear! The car would crank but not start when brought in: Step #1) Instead of cleaning new, fouled spark plugs they replace with another set for $189 ( cost of 4 plugs = $40, not installed, time to replace is 20 minutes), apparently the car in now running. Step #2) They call my wife and tell her that they need to replace the ignition coils and possibly the fuel injectors. Wife is concerned and asks me to call them. I call back and ask them to explain how all 4 coils could go bad at once and how could this even remotely address the error code that my OBDII reader was supplying which is a "Water Temp Sensor or Thermostat" error code, the same conversation applied to the 4 fuel injectors. Things don't add up? Hmmm.... They easily agreed with my logic during the conversation (strange!), which was what they should be working through and not me!, and I am still unsure why they are not diagnosing the actual error codes instead of looking at other systems. Step #3) While on the above call someone listening in suggests that they need to perform a compression check. So, with severe frustration setting in I explain the uselessness of a compression check and begin to explain again the symptoms of the error codes and my belief that it is either a sensor/wiring or thermostat related issue. They seem to agree and go to check it out. We hang up at that point. Step #4) I get a call back in a few minutes and they are now telling me that it is the thermostat housing that needs to be replaced. I asked him (Joe) if he is sure that this will correct the problem and he confidently responds with a yes, and that he will provide me with a quote to replace. Step #5) The quote comes back in at a total of $900 ($190 for spark plugs it did not need, nor were authorized to be replaced), and the remainder for the rest of the work. Step #6) Call Joe the next morning to let him know not to perform any additional work on the car and that we would be picking it up late morning Step #7) Take to another shop who correctly diagnose problem and replace the thermostat (correlating to the original code I received on my OBDII reader!) Step #7) Write Yelp review based on my experience to inform potential customers of what they are up against Step #8) Wait for appropriately condescending response from business read more

I was in town in Valencia and my heater core broke. I was charged over a $1000 to fix it and after driving it 500 miles, it broke again. I live in San Diego and needed it repaired here with another shop or have to tow the car all the way back to Santa Clarita to get Magic to re-repair it. They would not get involved to help resolve or fix the problem. The owner, Moe said he would call me back and see that I received help getting my car repaired and he never did. My family lives in SCV and none of us will ever go back here. *No, Moe- I have talked you since this incident. I have brought my Ford Edge, VW Jetta, and my Ford F-150 and this shop is the best. They usually have my car ready same day or the very next day. I have used them for new struts, new battery, stalling issues, etc. My favorite mechanic used to work for ford so he knows just what's up with my car. The prices are fair and they don't try and sell you more than what your car need, and the service is excellent!!!! I just brought my car there 2 days ago for struts and they gave me a Ride home without any hesitation. Went for a smog test next door. It failed because of some check engine type thing. I went next door to Magic Auto Center because it was convenient. I thought wow the reviews are not great on this place but let me give it a shot because of time and convenience. The waiting room was nice with AC, a couch, a flat screen set on ESPN, coffee, water and free wifi! The manager or shop spokesperson, Gary or Greg, was friendly to me and everyone that came in. I had to wait 30 minutes for them to look at my car (that's not so bad) but had to wait 1 hour for them to tell me what was wrong (why so long). Felt like I was at the doctors office! ...You know, you wait in the waiting room for a long time then they take you down the hall and put you in a room and you wait there forever until the doctor shows up. Part was replaced and MAP sensor is now working correctly. read more

I've wanted to write this review for a while. When my son had his Hyundai from Hell, Moe and Greg went WAY out of the way to find a used part for him. That's going beyond the extra mile to help. When the steering column on our Explorer fell apart, Moe went the extra mile again. This would typically be a $1200.00 repair, but he had a source for the part and was able to fix it for $300.00. We very much appreciate what they have done to help us. Based on their reviews, this is just how they choose to do business. I need to update this review. Again, Magic saved me. I've been having my Acura serviced at the dealer. It's getting old and repairs are getting pricey. I was told on a visit that a motor mount was bad...and the other two "may" be going. It's an expensive repair, but I made an appointment to have it done. When I had my tires rotated, I mentioned this and we saw clearly that all the mounts were broken. It was obvious. Why would the dealer not say they were all bad? Because that repair there, would have been over two grand. At that cost you rethink the price. Magic did all three mounts for under $800.00. I understand that the dealer needs to charge more for repairs and I don't begrudge them for that, but honesty is critical in business. The dealer should have just told me the truth that all the mounts were bad, instead of blindsiding me with the full story and price when it would have been too late to consider other options. I thought this to be a good business, but not so much anymore. I trust Moe and Greg. So many of these car places are not honest. I'm glad Magic is here for us. read more

Made an appointment and took my Lexus E350 in for several things on 10/7....an oil change, 65000 mile service, change transmission fluid, wind shield wiper blades and fix a problem with the A/C not always working. Joe called me a while later with the costs.....giving me a breakdown for all the work at $615.20. I authorized the work. He called again toward the end of the day to say all the work was completed. I picked the car up that evening....called Magic the next day because the A/C was still not functioning and we scheduled an appointment to bring the car back in the morning on 10/13. Met with Joe that morning reminded him of the problem and that we had the vehicle there for repair the week before. He took the keys and said he would take care of it. I called at 5:25 just before they closed and there was no answer. I never heard back and they still had my vehicle. I called the next morning and asked what was going on. Daniel said he would check with the technician and call me back. Moe called me about a half hour later saying that they did check out the A/C the day before and that it needed a new flow sensor before they could complete their diagnostics. I'm thinking I already paid to have it repaired on 10/7....Moe said that when I brought it back the 2nd time that they did the diagnostics the same day (10/13). Nobody called to inform me of the situation?
