The ladies at Magic Fitters are incredible, please do not bother to take your alterations anywhere else as this place is the only one you need. I purchased a gown on e-bay for a gala and it fit pretty well everywhere EXCEPT the length. The event was less than a week away and the dress was about 7 inches too long; I figured since there was beading and embroidery there wouldn't be enough time for anyone to properly tailor it without charging me an arm and a leg, or taking a week. I work right around the corner from this shop and on a whim and a good feeling (didn't even check yelp) I walked over hoping for a miracle. I honestly felt like I was in someone's living room, they took such good care of me! They calmed my fears of timing and even suggested a better way to address the length issue in raising the skirt section as a whole instead of doing a straight hem cut which would have effected the beading and embroidery. They even offered ideas on how to transform the dress in the future in order to get multiple wears out of it, so creative! Great customer service, no pushy sales, fast and honest. I loved the dress so much I ended up not wearing it to the gala and saving it for MY WEDDING!! Since then, I had three visits with them and every time received an impeccable, fast service and clothes (pants, dresses, skirts) that now perfectly and comfortably fit to my body. It really makes a difference to get your favorite clothing fitted, and Magic Fitters does not shy away from a challenge of any kind (which is in stark contrast to many other tailors I tried). For example, they transformed a size M dress to size S by fitting the shoulders, waist, back and adjusting the length -- a total transformation! In addition, you do not need to know exactly what you want to be done to your clothes. The Magic Fitters professionals will make recommendations and suggestions for making your garments work for you. Furthermore, they treat your clothes with respect and care, so, unlike my experiences with other tailors, I did not have to send the clothes to a dry cleaner to be steamed, etc. before wearing them again. Oksana did an INCREDIBLE job with my wedding dress! I had a large, pure silk, ballgown dress that was strapless and needed sleeves for religious purposes. Oksana and her team helped me find the right silk, made the sleeves from scratch, and ended up doing a number of other alterations as well that turned out beautifully. I was very nervous about making a whole new part of the dress, and in the end the sleeves looked like they'd always been part of the dress, it was really impressive work. She was very accessible and even did a home visit at one point for a fitting. She's also just a wonderful and kind hearted person and was so much fun to work with throughout the whole process! I came in for my mother-of-the-groom dress alterations just few weeks before the date. I fell in love with this beautiful gown by Temperley, which was about 3 inches small around bust area, and I had no idea if this type of re-construction is even possible. These girls are so knowledgeable in what they do, they basically re designed and re shaped entire bust area, as well as created support for it. The dress also needed few inches to be shortened, but the trick was to keep an original design. Natalia explained every detail what had to be done and Julie brought it to life.
