20 years ago I got sick after eating an eggplant dish so I avoided the restaurant for two decades. Maybe that was a little harsh to not return there for 2 decades. Other people tell me it is their favorite Clearlake restaurant. There have been fewer and fewer restaurants in town since many of my favorite places shut down due to the COVID shutdown a few years back. I recently went back there with a few friends. I decided to avoid the eggplant dish, just in case. Most of the time I eat vegetarian. One friend had a shrimp walnut dish that looked really good. The shrimp was properly cooked and seasoned. My one friend also ordered an appetizer with fried wontons and little cream puffs and some other things. I would normally not order deep fried things because they tend to be greasy and hard for me to digest. These appetizers were not greasy and were tasty. The portion size was good for all our meals. The cost per meal was reasonable compared with other local restaurants. The vegetables were ample and very fresh. What I ordered was the Vegetable Egg Foo Young. It came piled with fresh vegetables atop the egg. I think of egg foo young as a Chinese omelette. The amount and quality of the vegetables makes this dish special for me. I have now been back 3 times, making sure to order that dish each time. One time I also ordered Mu Shu Vegetables which is akin to Chinese tacos with a plum sauce condiment. Yummy also. My sweetheart ordered cashew broccoli and liked that so much that is what they always order now. She also especially loved the abundant of properly cooked fresh broccoli. We always eat our fill and still have another full meal at home with our leftovers. Magic Wok and Kour Thai are my two favorite restaurants in Clearlakes. We also like certain Mexican restaurant across from Food etc. but that is in slot #3 because the Mexican restaurant does not serve many vegetables. It is otherwise hard to be a vegetarian in ClearLake. Lucky we sometimes eat fish. The only complaints I have about Magic Wok recently is that sometimes the tables are sticky, but the Lady proprietor usually wipes down the table before you order. I don't recommend touching the table before that. The other complaint I have is that the path to the toilets are obstructed with boxes and supplies which makes it impossible to get back to the facilities with my walker. Because of the bathroom access problem we have elected to order takeout if I need to use the facilities. read more

I was a disappointed to hear that this place is closed down... But this was one of the best places that I've ever been to... The food was always on point... Savory and delicious... My favorite dish was the pork tosilog, I would order double meat...and the vinegar was a must! It was a small establishment with little room to dine in. But I preferred to take my meals home anyways, and I don't think any flavor or heat was really lost. The staff were professional. First thing is the lady that takes the orders and runs the front end is awesome ! When she's busy she is quiet and focused. But when it's mellow there she is quite funny and fun to talk to. My wife is infatuated with the fried zucchini... she orders it every time we eat there. Sometimes she will have just the zucchini for dinner. I've had several things from the menu. The wor wonton soup is really good. A lot of dumplings and a lot of veggies ( which is my favorite part). Just a piece of advice, If you order a large you better be hungry... that is a lot of food. Super generous portions and maybe some of the cheapest prices in the city. The restaurant was super dead so I didn't have to worry about waiting too long to be seated and to have the food prepared. They may have had a few takeout orders but that was it. I loved how efficient and quick the service here was. Not recommended, I ordered a beef noodle soup and it was disappointing ...I'm not sure if I should say it out

Everything is pretty good, with one exception. Their Fried Rice is not very good. I expect to see fresh, yellow scrambled eggs, not pieces of brown egg that looks old. I expect Green onions and possibly peas or carrot. The taste is bland. Please improve your Fried Rice!!!!! read more

We call it 'dirty Chinese' because the tables are sticky and the windows and entry door dirty. The bathroom is rather discusting. grabbed lunch here late December the wait was about an hour and they hung up on me twice before I went there but they were open and the chicken was much better than the beef options. Went back and food tasted like a cigarette. I told the lady that the chicken was stale or off or had been defrosted and froze too many times and that it had a rancid taste to it and she just kept telling me that it must be a busy day, huh? Another good place to eat in Lake County. Inexpensive food and decent quality matching. Small building on a main street and next to busy gas stations. The interior isn't the greatest. Plain and old needing some work but it was not as dirty as I saw another reviewer say, must've been a bad week. I didn't eat there but there were about 10 small tables, minimal decor, bar seats, and in a small room with an open kitchen. They were half full with people eating there and she was very busy on the phone. Seems to have consistent business from the Clearlake area. He ordered Mandarin chicken, sesame beef, mu shu pork with extra pancakes, and bbq pork fried rice. Came out to about 51$ The chicken was not my favorite because it wasn't crispy at all by the time we got home and there was something in the flavor that I didn't enjoy. Mu shu pork was great, light, and the pancakes were not tortillas, which is a huge win! The sauce is dark; cannot tell if hoisin or plum sauce. I was so hopeful when I walked in yo the magic wok. It was fairly busy. I ordered Mongolian Beef, Chow Mein and BBQ Pork. What a disappointing meal. Food is okay, the chickens are always soggy and chewy not any type of crispy. Everyone's saying they're not expensive but it kind of is, if you want multiple items. For two to go plates of chicken and chow mein and four tiny egg rolls with no filling it was 40$. Service has always been terrible. Usually give the benefit of the doubt and think maybe the lady taking orders is having a bad day. But she is very rude, blunt, and not friendly. I come in with manners and a happy persona but she just always has something against me or something. If I ask for sauce she's mad. If I ask for chop sticks she's mad. The cook is a pretty friendly guy even though he doesn't say much. She was in the back saying she would come in a bit, so I took a paper menu that is displayed for people to grab. Used to be a favorite place when we moved here. But, I can't get over how filthy this place is. Food has gone way down hill over the past year or two. They cook the food in giant woks that u can watch from the bar top. Sauces are left sitting out with drips everywhere on everything. Last time I was there there was a huge bowl of cooked chow neon noodles just sitting by the window. It's always been like this since I started eating here, and when the food was good i took the filth with a grain of salt. But I just can't eat here anymore. read more

So my daughter and I were dieing for some Chinese food and we were on foot. We looked up Chinese qaisien and the magic woke popped up so off we went. We were unsure once we got there because its well not your traditional restaurant but Most times I am pleasantly surprised and I definitely was the food was very good authentic and the manager was super friendly and very interesting she has storys of her life that were fun and helpful, Insightful plus its passed the time glad we whent and definitely recommend.
